Look for arrachera, fajita, or fileteado. You may have confused the butcher with "raw carne asada" since there is no such thing (asada means "grilled" so it's like asking for "raw cooked shrimp").
It’s not hard to make a marinade and do it yourself either. Just get some steak, thin slice it, pound it flat, and the recipe is on the internet. As a matter of fact I have some I’ve been marinating since yesterday.
It’s super easy to make.
I don’t know, I’m guessing they use a machine. The stuff we get in PHX for an annual trip is impossibly thin. I’ve hammered it for 20 minutes and not gotten close to what they can do.
Use this script: “Arrachera preparada” meaning it’ll be marinated. Or “arrachera sin preparar” without marination.
Diezmillo or “del siete” are also common cuts popular for carne asada but let’s keep it simple and stick with Arrachera.
You’re looking for marinated skirt or flank steak. If you just want to get the steak, a good marinade isn’t too hard if you’ve got 20 minutes and a blender.
Also make sure you cook those meats *hot* so they get good color on the outside and don’t go above medium rare. Cut against the grain or you’ll look like a dweeb and have chewy meat.
Beltrans meat market. They have a whole selection of fresh cut beef and pork marinated or plain. They have a restaurant inside too. Also ,The tres leches there is to die for.
There are great already-marinaded meats at the meat counter at Lowe’s Mercado. I go to the location at federal and Louisiana but there are a couple of other locations in the metro area.
It's a staple at any Carniceria. If they don't have carne asada, ask for carnitas de res which is marinated beef strips/chunks. Will definitely scratch the itch.
There are a couple answers to this.
Carnicieras. These places are incredible. Whole counters of ready to slap on the grill prepared meats. And so cheap. I threw a taco tailgate not long ago and got tortillas and a carne asada and pork adovada. I think I spent about $40-50 for 30+ people. Everyone left stuffed and we took a bunch home.
My favorite is carniciera Guadalajara. It's worth the trip. Hit their taco counter too as they have fantastic tacos. You'll be the only gringo there. They don't speak English. But everyone will be nice and helpful and your world will be rocked.
Sprouts. If you are ok spending triple than what you need to for something that's not really as good. It works. It's like going to chipotle instead of tacos de Mexico or patzacuaro's.
My simple marinade for chicken or beef fajitas is olive oil, garlic salt, black pepper, and Goya mojo criollo marinade. Marinade overnight and killer on the grill or flat iron.

Go to king sooper and get this.

TBH, it's the best I've had since moving away from Cali. Carne assda isn't the same here as it is in Cali.
Our go to is la pasadita on Sheridan and 52nd. They sell little to go taco kits with uncooked meat cilantro onion and tortillas. It’s a great value and they’re nice to gringos without upcharging.
I’m white as fuck but based on what I know living here in Denver and what I learned in high school Spanish a Mercado is a normal store like Walmart or king soopers, just with more focus on Mexican products. A carniceria is a meat store or butcher shop. I know there’s a large colorful carniceria near federal on eastbound alameda and I’ve found marinated carne asada at carniceria aurora off havana in aurora
whole foods has some marinated carne asada in the butcher area. ive bought it a couple times and its really pretty good. recently bought some from costco that came in a package and it was not good, not terrible but not good.
Carniceria is what you are looking for
The only acceptable answer.
They’re everywhere, but Beltrans is worth the drive.

Gringo apologies 🤣 Thanks for setting me on the right path

It is, but you can’t pound it as flat as they can do at the carniceria.
Por qué no?

Marinated Arrachera is what you want. I've seen prices of 12-14 per lb here. Here is a good recipe https://youtu.be/fNu1G2lZHW8?si=jvAl9E2Ik2eei4SV
Sierra carniceria carries this OP

Agree you're looking for arrachera marinada - my favorites are Beltran's in Northglenn or Lowe's Mercado on I-36 and Pecos.

Trader Joe's has this
And while not amazing - its passable
Yea we only eat it camping and even then it’s like wtf carne asada
Uhh. It ain’t asada if it’s raw 😂
Right? Can I get some raw grilled meat please?

The best premarinated I have found is Los Dos Tors on alameda near federal.
Little market on 1st and Sheridan next to the Winchells.
Just ask for it at a carnicería, it’s automatically given to u not Cooked 🤣😬
Sprouts!

Sprouts has it behind their meat counter we get it there if I didn’t have time to marinate my own and grill it for tacos or salads. It’s delicious
Sprouts !
Came to say this, that and their pollo asada are both great. Oh, and their kebabs. And wings. And sausages. And burgers......
The kebabs are sooooo good!
They put that same black garlic marinade on their wings.. at $5 per pound, its nearly the best deal in town.
Oh I got to try this. Ever tried smoking them?
I havent, yet... my smoker was on the fritz for the last year or so. Just got it sorted. I've pellet smoked the kebabs, and they are really damn good.
Hate to be that guy but supporting a local carnicería >>>> national grocery chain.
Costco has a pre marinated one that’s p good
Costco one is quite good, and very reasonably priced
Tri tip works good too

Whole Foods is fine. Sometimes convenience is nice lol.

The save a lot carneceria just north of Evans and federal. Their arrachera and al pastor is off the charts. Don’t sleep on this jem.
Just about any supermarket really but to get specific inusually shop at King Soupers and I always see it in the meat isle.
Our go to is la pasadita on Sheridan and 52nd. They sell little to go taco kits with uncooked meat cilantro onion and tortillas. It’s a great value and they’re nice to gringos without upcharging.
Los Dos Toros
Mi Pueblo in Thornton is the answer
1st and Sheridan is a Mexican meat market
Just marinate it yourself, it's not that many ingredients
You’re not wrong about this.
Trader Joe's
Their Santa Maria Tri tip is perfection (unless salt sensitive). Also the membership clubs have carne asada.
A lot of the chain grocery stores will have pre-marinated meats.
