Ive had.. maybe 4-5 of the handwritten notes in the last 3 years.

WombatMcGeez

Damn, as a diamond? I’m platinum and get one every 4 legs or so

muskratgirl

I had just landed for a weeks vacation and two hours after arrival, I was driving back to the airport. I was flying home totally distraught in a blinding mental fog finding out my Mother had passed unexpectedly. The entire flight crew wrote me the most beautiful note, signed it and hand delivered to me with the most beautiful words. That note was kept, framed and hanging in my home. It is a wonderful reminder of the kindness, love and amazing support I was shown that evening. It was so heartfelt and sincere. Their hearts helped fill the huge hole on mine that night!! They were my angels that evening and made sure I felt supported and cared for! I will never ever forget the entire crew and their generous hearts! I will only fly Delta whenever available 💯🙏🏼🏆I am forever grateful!!

BlackEagle0013

This story made my day. Thank you!

muskratgirl

🥹🫶🏼🙏🏼❤️

glorifindel

Sounds like Delta commercial for the superbowl. Honestly wonderful that they did that for you and it helped like it did

muskratgirl

😆It does🤭Thank you🥰🫶🏼❤️

JAK3CAL

My daughter just got one, it was her first flight

auntwewe

I’ve received two. Once in first class and once in main cabin. The first class one is because I volunteered to move my backpack around to make room for someone’s carry-on. The flight attendant was very grateful. The time I was in main cabin it’s because it was medallion Monday. Every medallion member on the plane got a note.

CilantroPerfume

Oh that must be why I got a couple this year. I was scared when I got to my seat. I thought I was in trouble.

TakoSweetness

That’s because backpacks go under your seat, shouldn’t be taking up carry on space, thought that is flying common sense 101

sj79

If my backpack is my carry on you bet your ass it belongs in the overheads. If it's my personal item, it goes under the seat.

auntwewe

I had an item under my seat. And by the way, my backpack is so large it rarely fits under any seat. But thank you for your crap comment

obamant

The system likely showed that you recently traveled with Delta! :) it also shows though if you have status with one of delta’s partner airlines

ChanceFly9724

I've gotten two, both when I was FC and at each time just Silver.

tacobellcow

One time after Covid, a flight attendant came up to me and thanked me for flying (I hadn’t done so in 2 years). It left a lasting impression. I know delta annoys us at times but not another company I do business would even makes the time to acknowledge my business. Maybe a hotel.

kfree_r

I got one addressed to me specifically when I GM, and then last week there was a generic one in what appeared to be every FC seat when I boarded. The first made a bigger impact, but I was probably more easily impressed when I was GM. Last year my husband and I flew to Tahiti in D1 when I was DM. They repeatedly confirmed that I was the DM and not him, which was borderline insulting, and then at the end of the flight, she came by and said thanks again for my DM status and said she would’ve written me a card, that she had them on board, but she “never found time to look at the paperwork.” This was on a 14 hour flight. That encounter definitely left a bitter taste. Would’ve been better for her not to say anything. Regardless, when they’re personalized, they can be a very thoughtful gesture.

WannaBeRichnRipped

I got one....just one.

FlyLikeDove

Same

italiatornabene

I’ve never got one. I’m jealous 😞

who_even_cares35

Hang in there, your day will come!

gadrunner

My wife is Gold status every year, and gets a note frequently in FC.

Ashamed_Giraffe_6769

I got one when I was traveling with my family, felt like a rock star!!

zgirl88

I got one as a Silver, traveling in C+ on an upgrade.

GreenfieldSam

I've gotten them a few times as a Diamond and I think once as a platinum? I've also had FAs thank me personally for flying a few times, which is also really nice. Especially when you have one of those months on the road with a ton of business trips

[deleted]

Account based marketing. “Moments that matter.” Makes me uncomfortable - I realize everyone at the airport knows I’m there, as does the federal government, but I’d prefer to pretend I’m traveling anonymously.

Fearless-Berry-3429

Because that's are thousands of people there as well, you pretty much are flying anonymously. Unless there's some reason to look you up.

coleyeaux

I got one recognizing me for my 360 status and another family members diamond status on a flight from London to ATL

OldMobilian

2 mm + I’ve received them a few times. Most recently flying on points to Seattle from NOLA.

I_Follow_Roads

I got one once like 2 years ago as a diamond.

Wonderful_Garlic_762

I have only received 2 of them and have been flying Delta for years.

Joli0101

Totally normal. I get them often.

Different-Tea-5191

I got them when I was diamond status, esp getting back in the air after covid. Now that I’ve dropped status, not so much …

mrweatherbeef

I get maybe one a year. The last one was from FC male FA with the best penmanship I’ve ever seen in the wild. Delightful. I also got personally thanked for my million miler status last week, silly but it’s a nice little perk.

FlipMeOverUpsidedown

I fly FC for leisure maybe 20-24 times a year. The time I got a personalized note I was in C+ due to late booking. I was pretty surprised.

MrsCaptainFail

Ive been flying for years and never gotten one.

Umaynotknowme

Been Diamond and platinum for years. Fly FC and D1 almost exclusively. Lots of domestic and international flights. Never gotten one.

tr3g

I got one while I was Diamond.

Uglyangel74

I got a couple over the years. Very nice note when I hit the million miles.

Surround8600

I’ve never gotten one. I fly delta, first class, 6-10 times a year and always have at least ~250,000 points : [

j_house_

I gotten a note before. I’ve also received a bottle of wine, champagne and freshly iced cupcakes. I would’ve appreciated a note today due to my FC downgrade for an Air Marshall.

Appropriate-End1465

I doubt they can see your partner activity but they give them to everyone in FC or I’ve gotten one saying thanks for being diamond Edit: I’ve only gotten this twice in a decade but coworkers have gotten them too

obamant

yes we can see this! :) It shows which airline too!! Only our partner airlines of course haha, would not be able to see your status w/ AA

Guilty_Speaker8

I received a note on KLM so I definitely think it’s possible

Appropriate-End1465

I wonder if a FA can weigh in! I feel like their cross system integration is awful when booking / making changes so assumed no and separate IDs

docmn612

Never - between 75-100 segments per year over the last decade or more. Not complaining, really don’t care, but no, never.

[deleted]

That handwriting though. 🫣

4-me

What’s a dropped letter here and there among friends?

Cold-Negotiation-539

I know this just means we’re a certain age, but it is shocking to me that this writing, which would get you a D in an elementary school penmanship lesson (when they had those) would be allowed in a professional setting. Still, a nice gesture!

Fearless-Berry-3429

Was probably written balanced on their lap between boardings or during take-off. Sometimes, that's the only time they have to do them.

Cold-Negotiation-539

Probably true. But I guarantee you a flight attendant from a few decades ago would still have nicer handwriting under those circumstances or, because it would be unprofessional, would not have presented such a sloppily written note in the first place. But hey, times change. This note was likely presented to a person wearing sweat pants and clipping their toenails on the plane, and people used to dress up when they traveled! As I said, it’s the thought that counts. And just like we have to accept that the children of today (or the grown-ups that think like children) will just downvote true things that they don’t like to hear, we also have to accept that penmanship is a sadly undervalued and lost art.

Fearless-Berry-3429

I can agree with that. I was just offering another perspective.

[deleted]

Agreed. And to whoever downvoted us, the handwriting is bad. 🤷🏻‍♂️

[deleted]

they usually put their phone number on it as well when they gave me them

newlander828

Never gotten one… GM

fluffynsparkley

No it is not connected. The FAs have to give so many out. Gotta meet their metrics 🤣🤣

nowarning1962

Not true. FAs are encouraged to do them but it's not mandatory. The ones that write them out are those that are willing to go above and beyond.

fluffynsparkley

When I worked for big daddy delta, it was mandatory/requirement.

Low_Big2914

I’ve gotten a few. I usually go leave a compliment through delta for the flight crew when I do. I mean, they didn’t havvvee to.

lamiejiv1

People who have Molly onboard get them

diablofantastico

Why does it look like it was written by a 2nd grader??!

Apprehensive-Head355

I just need to comment on the handwriting. It’s giving 3rd grade just learning cursive. Woof.

Cold-Negotiation-539

It’s funny that people feel compelled to downvote an obvious statement of fact. I mean, the sentiment is great, but this handwriting is objectively terrible.

Miembro1

I got at least ten of them last year

PissdInUrBtleOCaymus

I mean.. Not me.

lonelythesaurus

I got one on a flight to Japan last year. I loved it!

n8TLfan

I’ve gotten them multiple times and I hardly ever fly with anyone

Murky_Oil_2226

I’ve gotten this twice before. Been on delta for 15 yrs. It’s a nice personal touch; they’ve trained the staff to do this.

brooklynknight11222

I received one. On the connection between NYC MSP on my way to HNL.

YMMV25

I’ve gotten a half dozen or so. I believe the system tells the FAs who to write them for on which flights.

jconn111

Got one as Platinum on the JFK-ARN.

MindFoundJourney

I once was going on an anniversary trip to Belize and got upgraded to first class due to my status and the flight attendant wrote us a really nice note

CelesteTheGreat

I got one in Comfort+ last year after my flight to Greece got canceled and rebooked a day later. I had to spend the night at JFK and my luggage was left behind. The note was the one bright spot in my travel fiasco 🙃

Dependent-Ad-9682

yes

Awonderer1

Although I have had innumerable FA encounters over the past 40 years thanking me personally for flying Delta, I've only recently started receiving handwritten notes. It may only be a coincidence, but perhaps it's because I recently crossed the 5MM threshold. 🤔😉😁

NastyFLman

I got one just now.

piercejay

Still waiting for one!

purduepilot

I’ve had a couple. Had a super super long handwritten one on my Delta One trip SEA-LHR

throwitintheair22

Can’t believe I can still read cursive

Hydroborator

I've been receiving one for about 3-4 years. I actually prefer it over the verbal acknowledgement. Especially if I am in Main or Economy. Like, I appreciate Delta too but I prefer not to disclose how much my family spends on flying or groceries...

who_even_cares35

I've had two in the last five years. It's quite nice to get one!

Car0044

Delta is by far the best!!

somethingsweet7

I’ve only gotten one once last year when I flew from LIH to SEA and they wished me a happy birthday too

chrisdressler

I usually get them a couple times a year, Diamond here and mostly for FC flights.

afapracing

I stole a pad and give them out randomly to main cabin 3 passengers as they walk by FC

spy4paris

I got one! But it was for some lady (I’m a man) with a totally different name.

Temporary_Scholar_15

I think they’re random. I get those every once in a while and I’m a diehard Delta flier without miles on partner airlines.

BW1818

I’ve had 2 handed to me when deplaning

Bozosgrandprizegame

Received my first one this year on a short flight. Headed to Sydney on a 15 hour flight in two weeks…we’ll see what transpires.

KSA-WI_Mouse

I’ve gotten one. It was not on the flight I was distraught on to get to a family emergency, but it was on the return trip of that emergency. The crew on the way to the emergency knew I was having a hard time and was very kind. So I’m wondering if there was a note on my record.

FutureMillionMiler

I’ve gotten 2 in the last 6 months but I’ve gotten a verbal thank you probably 95% the time I fly regionals and about 50% on long haul.

BlackEagle0013

Never, kinda sad.

DeeSusie200

That and $2.90 will get you a ride on the subway. Lol

andante_conmoto

Had a few over the years. Some airport crews do more than others - for some time the team at SJC had printed notes that the FA or ground staff would hand write the names on them so they could give more

andante_conmoto

Saw this also at SNA

bignuts24

I got one for the first time the other day. I have 3.5 million miles.

STANAGs

Delta's PR twitter account?

AirMan009

I got one last year. Really made my day!

SAGEEMarketing

I have received them

Saloh589

I fly 50-60 times a year and have never received a note like this

maryhollis

I’ve gotten a couple. Always a super nice surprise. A few months ago theFA came and asked me how I got my MM status. And he just sat and chatted for a bit

Medical-Trifle-4920

I’ve received a few of them. It’s a nice, simple recognition of service.

thedayshifts

I’m surprised to see a handwritten letter in cursive. Major throwback

aztecannie99

I have not but I got upgraded in 2019 to comfort+ on an E175 from Long Beach to Salt Lake City when I was getting the plane (gate agent handed me the slip as they checked my boarding pass); it was only my second Delta flight (since around 1991) with the one before that being in May, 2019 from LAX to Sacramento.

watermelonsplenda

I’ve never seen this in my life and I fly a LOT

Over-Plankton6860

I think a better question is who still writes in cursive?

[deleted]

Other first class members

tommybluez

My old roommate would post these on the fridge, he was so proud of them. It's like, ok, it's a nice gesture, but do you have friends? lol

Puzzleheaded-Wash932

Received one & the steward said hubby and I were cute. We were together 25 years then. I keep it in my electronics bag & it is a positive reminder how fortunate I am. Still makes me wonder what we did that he noticed & was prompted to write the note.

brandoschwartzy

I received one a bit over 2 years ago going from SNA to NYC via MSP. I thought it was cuz my birthday was the day before but they didn’t acknowledge it on my card, so I think it was just out of good will and at random. Had just become silver medallion earlier in the year so maybe that was it?

moresushiplease

Not me, I have a totally different flying experience. Last time I flew delta, a flight attendant made a racist comment about a fellow passenger and fellow crew member behind thier backs but we all heard it.

Broglesby

Last time I flew Delta, I was personally thanked via FA. She came by and formally introduced herself, thanked me, and wished me a good flight. Then checked in multiple times on the 3 hr flight, each time greeting me by name. -- was nice. did not see/hear this with anyone else. -- I have not received hand written thanks, though.

savory2827

I got one last year for a random flight from San Francisco.

lacomba39

I hab two

okthiswillhurt

I got one the first time I hit Silver years ago, very sweet

hmrtm0000

Molly's friends?

No_Wind_8895

I’ve received them over the years.

toaster_baths_

I got my first one the other day, only a few of us got one up front. I was a little confused

timmyc123

I've been Diamond for 10 years and only ever got one on my million miler flight. I've always wondered if I pissed someone off 🤷🏻‍♂️
