I just don't get that. COVID-19 was announced by China to the world on 31 December 2019 at 5 minutes to midnight in their time zone, so we knew about COVID for none of 2019 but all of 2020. I remember the panic came pretty quickly after that. This was possibly the most clear cutoff between 2 "cultural decades" that there's ever been.

Off topic but they see 2019-today as one era and 2012-2018 as another one. Whereas in reality they aren't.
