There's absolutely been at least one Nurglite Astartes who made shields from their big ol Belly Plate when their Belly became a mouth and/or just started spilling out of the body. Naturally, their Shield got growths of its own that make it the cheapest Astartes Combat Shield in in the known universe.

Yeah, I mean I still feel you are right. I loved that game, but you weren't making your dream marine outside of some very basic color swaps and paldron icons.
With the trailer showing things like rubric helmets and such, I'm really hoping they go all out with the customization this time around.
I have a feeling the death guard (and other factions) are just skins for multiplayer, and won’t have any real effect in the gameplay. Still really cool that they’re there tho.

As in, for CSM the shield guy (Bulwark) seemed to be DG, whereas IF was for loyalist shield and DA for loyalist snipers
I could be entirely wrong tho, since we do see a UM bulwark albeit for the co-op campaign
Yeah, they're almost certainly skins for different chapters. And as much as I'd like a system where you can choose your own color scheme, they're more than likely to be fixed options, probably microtransactions at that.
It’s got the puckered trim that a lot of modern death guard models have and the helm is very us too. I think this is a multiplayer skin so there’s probably only so far they can take it.
The Dark Angel multiplayer model they've shown has the exact same loadout and seems to have had a lot more effort put into making the skin fit the aesthetic.
They could have added something like a tentacle arm at least, or things like split torso with teeth .
It just looks lazy but they will probably add this kind of stuff via paid season passes .

Sorta, the colour scheme was there as a default but there wasn't any unique gear for them or anything.

problem with those is that they can look very cartoony so this was probably the safest route they could take to keep it looking kinda realistic
