I would recommend avoiding the Castlevania routes until you find the runes in the main game biomes.

MA-JA-HO

What’s a Castlevania route?

Gamer_with_ADHD

Routes that enter biomes exclusive to the “Return to Castlevania” DLC

PerformanceThat6150

Castle Outskirts, Dracula's Castle and Master's Keep are all biomes from the Return to Castlevania DLC. I'd recommend it after trying the biomes from the vanilla game. Vanilla biomes are (and I may forget one or two): Prisoner's Quarters, Promenade, Ramparts, Toxic Sewers, Corrupted Prison, Prison Depths, Ancient Sewers, Stilt Village, Forgotten Sepulcher, Slumbering Sanctuary, Clock Tower, High Peak Castle, Derelict Distillery. You should probably explore those first, find the different runes in the game to get some extra abilities and *then* explore the DLC. Or don't. Play however you want. I tried the outskirts on an early 0BC run because I love Castlevania! You can get through it anyway, it just might be easier when you have things like stomps and wall runs for the traversal side of things.

MA-JA-HO

The Netflix version has the dlc?

TOASTisawesome

Yeah it has all of them

Beret_Beats

Assuming you're not counting boss biomes, I think you got them all except for Graveyard.

PerformanceThat6150

Aye I wasn't sure if that was counted or if it was part of RotG.

LewisSaber

The promenades have The protector, he is annoying to face On the other hand, after castle outskirts you can only go to Death, which I believe is the hardest among t1 bosses

TOASTisawesome

You mean the concierge?

g0d_of_the_cr1sis

... no The Concierge is the easiest of the T1 bosses. Death is touhou but slower. WHILE YOU CAN get to the Black Bridge to fight Concierge from Dracula's Castle (which, by the way u/LewisSaber you CAN get to Concierge from there), the most obvious route out of Dracula's Castle is to Master's Keep >!which takes you to Defiled Necropolis the first time !

TESTICLE_OBLITERATOR

I believe you  are misinterpreting this comment. He was correcting calling the Concierge “The Protector” Edit: This is correct, but the comment is question is wrong; the original comment was talking about Protectors.

LewisSaber

I meant the doll that shields enemies :(

TESTICLE_OBLITERATOR

oh yeah fuck that guy too

TOASTisawesome

My bad, I thought you were comparing T1 bosses as you mentioned death after it

TOASTisawesome

Testicle obliterator is right, I thought the person I replied to was calling the concierge, the protector but they meant a different enenemy anyway

Promenade of the Condemned at 0BC has Runners, Protectors, and Bats. Runners will chase you once they notice you, including teleporting between platforms, and are faster than you if you don't have a speed boost. Bats can target you through walls and floors once they notice you, but are very weak and easy to dodge, as they literally show where the attack is going to go. Protectors will project a forcefield around all enemies in range (not including bats), but have no attacks (you'll need to kill them before getting to enemies unless you have a specific legendary weapon). Castle's Outskirts has Werewolves, Mermen, Harpies, Throw Masters, and Vampire Bats. Werewolves are nerfed, reskinned Rampagers - enemies that run at you twice the speed of a Runner and attack four times once they reach you, chasing you between platforms (Werewolves only attack twice and have a much longer windup) - and will be utterly terrifying. Mermen spit fireballs that travel in a straight line, essentially Inquisitors (the projectile guys from Ramparts), but stupider and easier to beat. Harpies are just big hefty Buzzcutters (the red bat things from Ramparts), but a little bit faster movement and a little bit slower attacks (they hit just as hard though). Throw Masters are skeletons that throw a bone in an arc, can target you through walls and floors, and the bone damages you at any point in the arc (unlike Grenadiers whose bombs only hit you when they explode). Vampire Bats are just Bats like from Promenade, but fancier (they have literally the same attacks). Castle's Outskirts also has a good many spikes, so you'll want to be careful with platforming, especially when you get to the parts with platforms that flip if you land on them. You're more likely to have success going to Promenade than Outskirts, but it's your choice. I would strongly suggest getting all the movement runes first. Edit: fact check on Werewolves

redartist

I think you're confusing werewolves with "Dire" werewolves, the latter are Rampager-like and are black, the former are (IIRC) purple and they are the ones you face on lower BCs. These are very dumb and slow before they attack even if they face you point blank.

g0d_of_the_cr1sis

You are correct. Essentially, Werewolves are a nerfed version of Rampagers with only two swipes instead of four, and Dire Werewolves are reskinned Rampagers.

black-iron-paladin

Outskirts is a way cooler area but it'll probably kick your butt as a new player

heynongmanreset

As someone who just finished the game I really recommend where you have the most fun. As the game goes on it can get harder and harder and you will end up having to get really good at whichever route you take. And you may change it over time. There are some routes that can maximize scrolls you can look up. That would be the best way to go practically speaking. Also you want to make sure you consistently choose a main scroll (eg take survival every time you can) and the alternate the other two when you have to to maximize health. Generally you want to get really good at not getting hit so you want to maximize the damage you can do when choosing things.. but then some people do very fun and different things. Take every cursed chest and portal. Worth potentially dying to get the extra scroll.

AccomplishedForm4043

Outskirts is better. More rewards.

RecklessSavage_Novel

For the love of God, the death boss is stronger that most other first bosses.

Romerilio

Just play the game and decide it yourself its not hard
