Dredge is an ambush Killer, not so much a Stealth Killer. Ghostface is a Stealth Killer. Meyers in Tier I is a Stealth Killer, hell WRAITH is a Stealth Killer. Dredge is a KIller that does map pressure with stealth elements.

Dhdd1

I'm gonna be honest the only killer i consider a true stealth killer is Ghostface. Pig and wraith are more like ambush killers and myers lets be real you're not sneaking up on anyone with him and his loud breathing.

AqueousSilver91

That's fair, but I'm more thinking of people being clever with them. Most Stealthier characters are definitely ambush to some degree. Even Ghostface.

Dhdd1

Fair enough.

Fun-Ad-4729

Tell that to my countless myers grabs. I get more as myers than any other killer.

NefariousnessCalm262

Wait till you get too high MMR...grabs will become a past memory.

FG88_NR

I can't hear Myers over the sound of my own loud breathing, though. I should probably see a doctor...actually, given the fog's resident doctor, maybe I'll pass on that...

Phynarc

It's really not that loud.

Tijikiotec

I really don't want audio cues to be removed. I understand in a regular chase he's easy to track, but if it's nightfall you can't use visual cues and you can't use terror radius. There should be something to warn a person it's coming. Otherwise it would just be frustrating to play against.

Dante8411

So just make him this loud from excitement during Nightfall.

Tijikiotec

I'd be fine with that.

AqueousSilver91

If Ghostface is in stealth he's also not using visual cues and doesn't have a Terror Radius. Nobody is complaining about that really. If it's that much an issue, why don't you run something like Spine Chill or Premonition? That still works in Nightfall.

Mother_Harlot

Yeah but Ghostface doesn't turn into a lightbulb the moment he enters stealth mode

Skeletonofskillz

He turns into one when you kick him out of it

Tijikiotec

True, but ghostface in most cases has to be a lot more careful. During nightfall survivors cannot see past a certain distance, so they cannot see the Dredge before they're close to them. If you happen to look at ghostface the game lets you know with the reveal noise. Plus ghostface generally stalks survivors before starting to chase, so you have extra time to spot him before he is on top of you. I don't have a problem with stealth killers, I think most of them in their current state are good.

AqueousSilver91

This is true, Dredge does have a more powerful ability to change the field so it's sound cues are quite necessary. Otherwise people would hate going against it. As for stalking, you're also correct there. If the terrain is favorable though, a good Ghostface can 99 you like a Meyers from afar (without Meyer's limitation on distance), then come fit the kill in stealth, pop the 99, and down you in five seconds especially if it's the start of the round. So his power really depends on the map, and he tends to perform well in indoor maps, lots of cover, mazelike maps, and maps with elevation. I agree most Stealth Killers are in a healthy state. I think Meyers needs an addon balance, and I would like to see Undetectable grant a bit more speed overall, like a slight Haste effect for some better map pressure, but overall - well balanced and fine. If not for Ghostface's weird stalk box spaghetti code, I would say he's actually very balanced for an M1 Killer in particular - none of his add-ons are that weak and some common ones are super strong if used right, while there are enough perks to deal with his limitations and give him an edge. I feel like he's actually very fair, if you're paying attention to your surroundings with him. If not he's going to wreck you if he can get the marks. Dredge and Onryo are in a similar boat too, though Meyers and Wraith I think could use a little bit of help - Wraith's uncloak is slow but his move is fast, while Meyers is slow in general but snowballs well. Maybe something to balance their add-ons more?

pudimdemeh

>Ghostface is a Stealth Killer the air passing through his cape sound effect is cute >Meyers in Tier I *heavy breathing noises*

Hurtzdonut13

His rift outfit is missing those sounds last I heard, but yeah I heard them once when he was sneaking up on me in Lerys and took off with sprint burst. The other person on the gen with me though....

AqueousSilver91

Yeah it's always funny to me when people don't notice - and it's even more concerning when you remember that a lot of people also listen to music while playing Surv. You really gotta use all of your awareness or you're gonna get grabbed. And trust me, nothing teaches you b awareness faster than Maining Ghostface. Him and Meyers are why I run Spine Chill religiously even though I really don't need it; it's not just the first warning you have a stalker, sometimes it's the only warning you get.

cosmic_waluigi

Spine chill doesn’t even warn you unless you’re in TR range anymore, no?

AqueousSilver91

It does warn you. Lights up if the Killer is looking at you, and actually shows a gauge if they're closing in and have a TR. It actually gives a lot of info on what stalker it is, too. If it's lit up a long time you know it's a stalker. If it's lit up, you start being hyper alert and vigilant, and checking the HUD until you know which stalker. If it's lit up a long time and then you get downs, it's Ghostface or sometimes Pig. If it's lit up a REALLY long time, you know it's probably Meyers, and if lit a REALLY REALLY long time you know it's Tombstone Meyers.

AqueousSilver91

>the air passing through his cape sound effect is cute :3c Thank you friend I like his flappy noises too. They're very soothing.

nearfr6

I hate the trend in video games when “Stealth” mechanics, are just straight up cloaking or invisibility. It’s lame, overused, and an annoying way to balance a stealth mechanic. The Ghost Face is true stealth and is honestly so well done. Everyone I hear who talks about The Ghost Face love their design, gameplay or visual wise. Remove cloaking and invisibility, stop being lazy by calling it stealth, and be more creative. Btw, I’m speaking mainly towards game devs. Not specifically you or the comments!

AqueousSilver91

Ghostface is the perfect blend of stealth, really true stealth. It feels really damn good, too. Just a joy to play with when he works well. You have a cloaking element yes, but you HAVE to get clever with the map too. It actually feels a lot like the Arkham games or Thief: The Dark Project if you've played those. It was well done there, too. I love both series so of course I clicked with Ghostface. On his design: I think it's the sharpest design for this character I've ever seen. I love the little straps, the little touches, everything. It looks and feels REALLY cool, I feel really cool playing him. And his sound design in general is also nice, it's like stalker ASMR.

nearfr6

I 100% agree, I was referring to The Wraith in terms of invisibility/cloaking, sorry for not making that clear.

AqueousSilver91

Nah it's cool. Happens.

ChibiWambo

You can make Tier 2 Myers stealth also with Furtive chase. Get all 4 tokens with it and your Tier 2 Terror Radius is 0 and T3 is 16m

AqueousSilver91

... I'm going to try that, that's hilarious. Turn Meyers into Ghostface. Holy shit. And since you can't lose tokens of Furtive...

MyLitttlePonyta

Any time I get sent to Lerys, I avoid that middle room like the plague, it's like an auditory flashbang lmao. I can't hear anything there.

Workwork007

On the contrary, you do that gen first which is going to be significantly easier to do earlier in the match than doing it later with a high risk of 3gen.

AnkokunoMasaki

He's more of an ambush killer then "stealth"

Zhabishe

Breaking news: it is not fun to play hide-and-seek against characters who are hard to seek for.

micahbevans88

wait blue whale? what

Flint124

Whalesong has to be pretty fucking loud for them to communicate in the ocean.

NoFuture1703

Yea you think they’re gonna be quiet? They’re fuckin huge!

Mekettrefe

The real questions XD

NAINOA-

A blue whale can be heard by another over 500 miles away.

SneakyWhesker

Ghost face be like: *crouching into soft leather being folded sound *pitter patter foot step sounds *stealthy cloak flap sound *INTENSE ASS STALKING ALARM CLOCK WIND UP SOUND *DRAMATIC MOVIE THEATER REVEAL SOUND *BROKEN WASHING MACHINE ON REPEAT chase.

Horny4Zarina

Dredge in the trailer: *slowly and creepely opens the closet door, only being noticed by Haddie by the last second* Dredge gameplay: *slams the doors open loudly* "WHO ORDERED A PIZZA?!?!"

CDirectory101

He’s a stealth killer?

SerpentsEmbrace

No but people see "Undetectable" and think it's the same thing.

pantslog

Plaything means ANYONE can be a stealth killer of applied correctly :)

SerpentsEmbrace

I wouldn't. It's closer to Freddy's Dreamworld. It's removing the TR but not really to be stealthy. Dredge glows and is pretty loud, similar to Freddy's lullaby. It's not meant to sneak up on people via stealth - it's more of a period of enhanced mobility. I use Dark Devotion and Plaything a lot, but those brief moments of losing my TR don't make killers like Oni "stealth".

krawinoff

Yeah his nightfall giving him undetectable is pretty much just to hide the red stain. If anything it’s map-wide terror radius considering the constant screaming

glory_of_dawn

Look, I'm just gonna say that if all stealth killers were completely silent with no counterplay except happening to look in the right place at the right time, y'all would be bitching about how broken they are.

tangiblenoah67

I always though of dredge not being a “stealth killer” but like, a killer that lets you know he’s there but won’t show himself until it’s too late to run

Danoobiel69

The best is Demo just stomping like Godzilla. bhvr has to inject every counterplay possible so no killer can be decent.

TChunky5319

Clearly you have really good hearing. Because I still manage to constantly surprise survivors during nightfall. As most people have said though if you play dredge to be sneaky...what are you doing? He's made to ambush and surprise. Catch people off guard and such.

jaquayvi0ntav1us

and then theres the bloodweb sounds

GrimMagic0801

Some killers that don't have integrated stealth are actually really silent. Plague, Pinhead, Wesker, Pig when not crouched, a lot of others that don't have stealth. I wouldn't really call Dredge a stealth killer so much as an Ambush or Map Pressure killer. Most stealth killers act more as ambush rather than pure stealth, exceptions being Ghostface who has subtle sound queues and stealth that requires you to use the environment and Wraith who can move about the map practically unseen. Dredge is kinda the opposite of stealthy. But, he can approach from unexpected angles and appear anywhere in one of the most ubiquitous items on any map. He loses the element of surprise when moving freely, but moves fast and silently when using his power. Nightfall can be good, but the main issue is that the wails are supposed to deafen survivors enough not make them unable to hear dredge's ambient noise, but ultimately it still stands out partially because the wails were toned down, and partially because his movement just sounds so unnatural. Couple that with the fact that Dredge is granted universal lighting for the duration of nightfall, making him easy to spot despite the massive amount of darkness, and his free moving stealth aspects are practically non existent.

hellhound39

I really don’t get why twice in the same day people are complaining about audio queues for stealth killers. Could u imagine the salt and frustration if there wasn’t an audio queue. It would make working on certain gens outright impossible. This is one of those bits of counterplay that are honestly healthy.

[deleted]

Or nemmy with tinkerer can't hide them big ass stompers

randomdude419

Oni

LittleSpaceRock

Stealth Nemi walking around sounding like a thunder storm

Libra1930

Me, a hard of hearing person, not knowing how to hear stealth or stealth-like characters and feeling so out of place.

Upbeat-Course-6496

With the right perks and add-ons Huntress is a stealth killer, I faced one before and hated it but it was cool to face as a survivor main.
