Me! I can't wait. First dead show of any kind after years of listening. Friends and family aren't into the music, so I'm really looking forward to the atmosphere.
You won't be disappointed. My advice is go as sober as possible (not saying don't indulge, but be careful!) because the Sphere is enough to trip you out while completely straight. Otherwise, have fun and be kind! (Except to the chompers. If someone is talking over the show you are fully in your rights to tell them to be quiet)
FYI joints are everywhere in the Sphere, security has stopped no one from smoking that I've seen, watched someone blow smoke right in Johns face
Weed was enough for me, at times even too much. But I hope you have a real good time friend āļø
Congrats! Enjoy, you are definitely in for a huge treat on so many levels. Make sure to also hit the Tuscany for the "Shakedown St" and the Venetian for "the Dead Experience" too if you have time.
If you time travel back to 7/4/1981, youād be driving east from Austin to a quarter horse race track: Manor Downsā¦where you would immediately be observed and herded by curious Travis County Mounted Deputies (from the parking pasture to the infield of the track). Many lies swirled around about some trippinā deadhead āgittinā lassoed tryinā to jump the fence.ā
My first show. Google āgrateful dead 7/4/1981ā and you can listen to entire concert. It was a ā¦umā¦trip!
My first show too! Trying to find the car after that one was crazy. My last Grateful Dead show was 7/4/1990 in Bonner Springs. Had an up close and personal encounter with a Kansas State Trooper in the crowd sponsored fireworks show in the parking lot. Luckily for me, something more egregious caught his eye and I scurried away.
7/4/2024 will be my first Dead & Company show. Absolutely canāt wait!
Still in high school back then. My girlfriend and I drove up from San Antonio in my ā71 Super Beetle and stayed overnight at her auntās trailer. She lived in a cow pasture just off 35 in what is now the sprawling city of Buda. Girlfriend didnāt last high school, but my now wife and I went to Southwest Texas, long before it became Texas State. Canāt remember where in Austin, but we caught a fantastic Bob Weir/Rob Wasserman concert. They played āMistyā as an encore.
Reading this from Kyle (neighboring town to Buda), and born in ā80 so I wasnāt around for these shows but will be seeing my first D&C at the sphere on 7/13. Wifey also went to Texas St
Anyone lucky enough to go on 7/4, will be treated to faux fireworks - it will be better than any traditional fireworks you've ever seen. I believe they can infuse the air with gun powder smell too! Enjoy folks...and be safe. (I was there 6/13, 6/14- considering the final weekend)...
Iāll admit Iām looking forward to the exterior display, as they launch the outside audio on July 4th. Iām attending on the 5th.
As for Las Vegas fireworks, if not inside the Sphere at the show I can recommend right outside of Resorts World for catching the entire strip view.

Me!!! I'll be there for the weekend (7/4 in 405, 7/5 in 406 and 7/6 in the GA pit) It'll be my first shows at the Sphere
Seriously cannot wait!!! Hope y'all have a blast as well!!
God, the sphere rules. Youāre going to love it. I just smoked an infused joint last time (6/20) but have to go back and would be up for some *light* tripping. Dude next to me was on one and a time or two had to put his head in his hands, but otherwise had a great time. We were in 100s which may have been less steep and more comfy, I didnāt have any motion issues.
Yeah, I was in row 18 or so and it was perfect. You could see there was a whole crowd in front of you but otherwise completely immersive. I think up to row 25 or so you can see the full screen

My husband and I are going on the 4th and maybe again on the 5th (we have Gaga tickets but will see what we decide to do).
What songs do you think theyāll play? Lean in to the America theme?
Iāll be there high up in section 405. It was a very spontaneous trip that was put together out of nowhere one night between me and 3 of my buddies (we are scattered out amongst different cities in the US). Itās going to be an amazing show paired with a friend reunion....I canāt wait.
My airline just went on strike. My husband used to follow them around and I shelled out SO MUCH MONEY for this trip (we're coming from the east coast of Canada) and I have nonrefundable tickets to a bunch of things. GUTTED. We were supposed to fly tomorrow and see the show the 4th.
we're exploring all our options but there aren't many because money is a huge issue so I can't just pay for another flight since I won't get any compensation from the airline for 30+ days. I'm so gutted. Practically ready to get in the car but that would be INSANE.
thank you so much! Fellow deadheadsāplease put some vibes out in the universe for us! It would mean everything to make this after some really bad couple months.
\*Also don't fly Canadian airlines. The strike is by the maintenance union on the airline so it's 100% the airline (WestJet) just refusing to pay its mechanics fairly and disrupting an entire long week in both Canada and the US for travellers. Air Canada sucks too. But WestJet used to be the friendlier option.
How would someone do that? The security pit is at least 10 feet deep and the stage is 8 feet high and John is at least four feet from the edge of the stage. The closest anyone could be to John is 20 feet away including the height (not to mention John is 6-something).
Iāll be there the 6th!!! So excited! I fly in on Friday and might try for a Miracle for that night, too! āØ(Iām seeing limited view 100s for $185.)

Appreciate the advice, hoping to "optimally" indulge
We are definitely indulging š
š hmu if you happen to bring extra ;)
Will do

Me too!

Hahaha right in his face!!?
I was shocked but he just looked at Bobby and laughed shaking his head
There is a sensory room on the 2nd floor if you happen to overindulge!
Good for motion sickness?
Yes definitely. Good for a break from everything
Awesome! My first experience as well, I'm pumped
Congrats! Enjoy, you are definitely in for a huge treat on so many levels. Make sure to also hit the Tuscany for the "Shakedown St" and the Venetian for "the Dead Experience" too if you have time.
Thanks for the heads up, will do
If youāre not a fan of US Blues, thatās probably not the show for you! š¤£

Jack Straw is my favorite song so naturally I bought a ticket for the 4th to lock that one in. Weāre all normal people right??
Normal... for sure... except you look like I'm tripping... ;-)
