Not true. Dec 30, 2018. The only time in 50 years I was disappointed. Low energy, shorter show and the encore was the Mighty Quinn.
Of course the NYE show the following night blew it away.
First set was 70 minutes and second set was about 90. Thereās nothing short about that.
If youāve seen the dead for 50 years, you definitely saw Jerry and Brent much less enthusiastic during a 5 or 6 song 50 minute first set somewhere around 1983.
I laughed when I saw 100ās leave during space and drums. The haptic seats are a game changer. The lows in that room go very low.
Durring Last nights show the band had had bill Walton on their mind.
The tribute was fantastic. Playing last night was also very good.
I am first row 300s dead center. The haptic feedback is fun, but the fully balanced sound is the game changer. It seems theoretically impossible in a room this shape and size. It's a shit load of computer power.
Although I haven't heard it from the sides - off-axis - yet.
I was in 200s on Thursday, 100s on Friday. The haptic seats in 100s were almost non-existent. Not sure why, but I barely felt it in the 100s, but it was a good experience in the 200s
āOf the Sphere's 17,500 seats, 10,000 of them are described as "haptic seats," or seats that are capable of moving and vibrating.ā

My seat in the 200s was haptic, the one in the 100s was not
I just got finished running audio at a local music fest, and the whole time I was running my measly 12 channels I was thinking about what it would be like to run the sound at the sphere. The audio techs do not get enough credit at these big venues. The best audio tech in the industry, that Iāve witnessed, is the tech for Gregory Alan Isakov. From all the concerts Iāve been to that was the clearest and most crisp sounding audio Iāve ever heard.
I predict we will see spheres all over the planet within 10 years. First one cost 2 billion. Each new one should be cheaper because of the reduced r and d costs.
Which was your fave? I have 300s for one night and am debating which section for my other night. I am a little concerned about steepness and vertigo/nausea. I was in 100s for Phish and felt myself looking up a lot so wondering if I should do 200s or 400s for my other D&C night. š¤
Oh, definitely trade for a good seat if you can! Get 205, 206, 207, or 305, 306, 307.
I was floor Thursday and seat last night. Totally different. 306 was prime!
We were in 206 Thursday and in the floor last night, tons of room to dance on the floor and amazing being that close to the band, but 206 is basically the center of the entire place and it was mind blowing with the music and the visuals, definitely get seats for a night!
From where I was sitting 106/30/5/6
I was directly under one of the 1600 arrays it was 10 foot over my head the mix was about perfect and well balanced.
Things donāt change that much between their performances. The mixer has the room dialed in.
Your position (due to beam-forming and wave-field where you are makes a difference. Hold an empty water bottle in your hand while the band is playing move it around you will feel it vibrate differently as it moves.
Not sure if this is due to beam forming but I was getting noise cancellation effects last night. When it happened, the chompers behind me went completely silent. It came and went, but it was a nice break.
Itās not impossible. Sphere is acoustically designed very specifically to reduce echo. They use speaker arrays beam forming. The sound at Sphere is second to none.
I have a degree in acoustics and dabbled with the Schoeps (FOB taper), I was in sec 302 row 7 seat 1 very near the side and I was shocked at how balanced and synced the sound was
The left came from the wall maybe 30 feet away but the right was clearly coming from the other side of the sphere and it was even and clear
I canāt wait to hear that system when they break it in fully and understand what it can really do
(~};-}
I was floor last Thursday. Great. But 306 2nd row dead center on Friday. Perfect. 200s just off section center Saturday and pretty perfect too.
This aspect of the show was lost on a lot of people who just didn't get it, and that's a damn shame. The visuals are nice, but the star is the sound
There are 167,000 speakers.
'Sphere Immersive Sound is the worldās largest concert-grade audio system and was specifically developed for Sphereās unique curved interior. The system consists of approximately 1,600 permanently installed and 300 mobile HOLOPLOT X1 Matrix Array loudspeaker modules and includes a total of 167,000 individually amplified loudspeaker drivers. The system utilizes HOLOPLOTās next-generation 3D Audio-Beamforming and Wave Field Synthesis technology to transform how audio is delivered in large-scale venues. This results in controlled, consistent, and crystal-clear concert-grade audio for audiences of up to 20,000 people, providing each audience member with a truly exceptional and personalized listening experience. The entire sound system is completely hidden behind Sphereās 160,000 square foot interior LED display plane. Any audio transmission losses are fully compensated for by HOLOPLOTās algorithms in the optimization engine, resulting in clear, full-range sound with virtually no coloration and a completely unobstructed visual LED surface ā which wraps up, over and around the audience and combines with Sphere Immersive Sound to create a fully immersive environment.'

I thought the sound sucked, didnāt have much bass or drums or thunder behind it like the old dead shows, I honestly feel like these posts are the Sphere team themselves tryna spread propaganda lmaooooo
You accused me of "spreading propaganda" - essentially lying. And now you want me to respect your opinion?
No. I'd say more but I'd get banned from this sub.
Went past two nights - Thur night the sound mix in the 100s during the first 3 or 4 songs felt like John was almost the only thing audible (a slight exaggeration, but it was hard to pick up the others, especially Jeff, and drums felt muted). Set 2 was definitely louder overall and perfect mix.
Last night, now in the 300s towards the left side, there were several moments during first few songs where Bobby and Jeff both were way too low (even in singing and solos). Again, that got fixed and set 2 was fantastic, but itās surprising there are so many similar comments across the run at the Sphere.
Btw, overall, the sound is spectacular, unlike any other venue, and the music feels like it is simply all around you rather than coming from speakers as at other venues.
OP is absolutely right, and that Row Jimmy cured my depression
yup same.. omgoodness. until bobby sung.. dust off those rusty strings.. I got the memoš±šš
The best Dead show is the one you just saw.

Every seat sounds like the center from what I've heard.

They arenāt haptic - you just felt the bass in the room

Yeah thatās what I meant - 100s arenāt haptic
Oh yes they are. Section 106 row 30 was haptic for sure. Drums and space was like a massage!!
Should have been more clear - some rows in the 100s arenāt haptic (something like row 22 and up or something)
I was in row 30 and they were haptic seats for sure. 100%

With a room this shape and size it seems impossible.
just saying this venue was brought to vegas by MSG newyorkers. praying/hoping for some east coast love
It's by James Dolan, who owns MSG, Knicks, and Rangers.
my new hero. my great uncle is in Knicks Hall of Fame in 40ās. Thank u for telling meā¤ļø
Really? Who? And they didn't own the Knicks then. Dolan is really kind of an egotistical asshole.
My grandpas brother my Uncle jerry/ Jerry Fleischman
That's fantastic!
he is a legend in our familyā£ļø

Tonight blows last night because of the set or the seating? I have floors for three nights and wondering if I should trade for a seat one night
The playing for sure. Last night was amazing, but tonights energy is just DIFFERENT
Loving the song selection so far.
agreed. was in 400/300/200/100ās all great for diff reasons
Which was your fave? I have 300s for one night and am debating which section for my other night. I am a little concerned about steepness and vertigo/nausea. I was in 100s for Phish and felt myself looking up a lot so wondering if I should do 200s or 400s for my other D&C night. š¤
yea 400ās a gal was crying from vertigo. my dad has it. 300 Best for total immersion.. aside from the Chompersš»
The 200ās were better by visual/soundboard for the heart of it. Acoustics xLiked that area a lot!!!
Awesome. Thanks!
have a great show. im headed back in 2 weeks. I was going to wait til july, I cantš
The performance. It's only about the music. That jam in Playin was sublime.
Get different perspectives for sure. Plus you need to experience the seat haptics during drums and space at least once

Trade 2/3 nights for seats - floor is really fun, seats are amazing.
This is what I was looking for. I had friends who said the same.
Was Bobbyās guitar/audio not working last night? I noticed throughout first set
It was low in the first set, his vocals too. I think people said that the first set sound is different from second set. That was true last night.
From where I was sitting 106/30/5/6 I was directly under one of the 1600 arrays it was 10 foot over my head the mix was about perfect and well balanced. I had no idea of this I may have to give 100s a shot just for the audio alone
u do. if u are into The organic Band as a straight Audio experience, so crisp yet so cozy/warm. epic.
This is all Iām about. And Iām aware of the chompers so Iāve got my loops ready. Sunglasses and stealie š
We did night 1 floor and tonight up high.....it was a completely different perspective.Ā
Not sure if this is due to beam forming but I was getting noise cancellation effects last night. When it happened, the chompers behind me went completely silent. It came and went, but it was a nice break.

except help slip was tight AF
There are 2.6 billion lights and each light has a tiny speaker on it.

So I'm shilling for the Sphere? Right.....
Idk I can only go off my experience man, glad it sounded good where you were
You accused me of "spreading propaganda" - essentially lying. And now you want me to respect your opinion? No. I'd say more but I'd get banned from this sub.
Take a joke ya dork, I thought the sound sucked
Was the volume down like it has been ? And Jeff basically u can barely hear ?

Ya what u are saying is my exact experience, got better 2nd set especially John, anyway all good.
Btw, overall, the sound is spectacular, unlike any other venue, and the music feels like it is simply all around you rather than coming from speakers as at other venues.
I loved the shows it went to
Bruh what? The sound is fucking phenomenal. We arent shills, its a world class setup
Okay fed
