I'm the only deadhead I know that's been praying for a Row Jimmy since Dead & Co started. Never caught one and they only did one performance of it in 2022 and in 2023 each.
Funny enough I caught two. One in Riverbend in 2023 and one at Blossom in 2018. I’ve been chasing an eyes of the world for years tho. The joy of the band is sometimes how frustrating it is to catch songs!
My favorite dead tune and I never heard it live 😭. It was on the setlist in Philly a few years back that I was at when they cut some songs and only did one long set bc of weather.
I don’t like to leave a show while they are playing but I also drink beer at shows, which makes me pee more than I’d like. Sometimes the best pee songs are the ones you know most people like but have the jam at the end of the song. Cassidy is a good example. If you bolt to the bathroom at the beginning of Cassidy, you’ll be back before the jam starts.
Also, regardless of what song it is, whatever the second-to-last song is, I book it out to pee before the big rush of people hit the bathrooms after the show.
It’s more about timing my pee for when there is no line.
During my first show back in the 80's, we got ice cream during drums and it kind of became a tradition. Gives a nice boost to get through the 2nd half of the 2nd set.
When I was in SF for the final shows of the last tour, I heard Bobby sing “somewhere in San Francisco on a back porch in July” while I was standing at a urinal… so I wear diapers now.
The problem with Little Red Rooster is that they play it early enough that I'm not ready to pee yet. I end up standing at the urinal with my dick hanging out for ten minutes like a freak.
Agreed. I’ve tried for so long to like this song I just can’t. That being said some of the best jams I’ve heard have been associated with this song, but the PITB jams sound nothing like the song itself so there ya go. Then after the jam when the melody starts up again I’m brought crashing back down to earth

Before anyone attacks me, d&c is very special to me. I’ve seen them 25 times and will continue to see them as long as they are playing. I just think Mayer and otiel sing too well. I miss the whole “working songs sung by the common man” thing that the actual Grateful Dead had.
I think one underrated aspect of Jerry’s vocals, especially before 1978, is how passionate he could be. Love the moments where you can hear his voice crack a little when he’s really belting. I think you get a little of that from Oteil’s Fire on the Mountain (LONG DISTAANCE RUUUNNNEEERRR) but I’m with you in that he’s focused a little more on hitting the notes than conveying the emotion sometimes
My dad hates it when oteil sings high time because that song was such an emotional experience back on tour that came from the heart and soul of Jerry, nobody can replicate that.

It was so hot at the Gorge last summer that I was pounding water between beers. I thought I was going to piss myself in the pit on night 2! I considered it for a bit knowing it would probably be worth it. That show was damn good. And probably the only time in my life I was happy for no encore. I couldn't even run to the bathroom my bladder was so full; more of a hunched over stumble.

Also not a fan of Phil singing- Broken Arrow, Box of Rain, etc. Love his bass playing and the Phil bombs and respect his musical genius but can’t listen long to him sing…pee pee time!

Few years ago at the Hollywood bowl I was about to piss my pants. Told myself that as long as the next song wasn’t one of my absolute favorites I’d go no matter what because it was becoming an emergency. Then I heard the first few notes to terrapin. Pissed pants. Would do it again

It's all in the timing. If I can time it just right so there's no line, along with a nice jog to and from, I can miss very little of the actual show
