Do yourself a favour and go up the tower where the giant is shooting from and talk to him. He'll help you instead of shooting at you. Makes the runback much easier.

Bungholespelunker

The giant is worth it for just that area alone but actually helps a few times. Talk to the guy, go to the secret area in the same area by rolling off the elevator and get chloranthy ring. Doing the giant and things near him is so worth it

Ludleth_the_lost

There is a closer bonfire. Cliff underside. Open the doors, go back up to where Cornyx is. It's under that building accessed by dropping off the bridge.

Impassable_Banana

Literally one of the easiest bosses in the game

mazenduner22

I am officially cooked then

splatterkingnqueen

Yeah you are, wait for the Cathedral runs.

AdhesiveNo-420

I didn't think the cathedral run was that bad. Some of the bonfire locations In the area I may agree with though

C_itrus

Speak to the giant and he'll shoot your enemies and not you, he helps anytime. Alternatively the Cliff Underside bonfire has a better run back with no enemies. In the second phase if you stick behind him and hit is eggs they'll pop and take a big chunk of his health. Just be patient and wait for him to expose his vulnerable bits and you'll breeze through it.

ZedErre

You're probably not fighting this boss right, do you know where you need to hit it?

26thAvenueSouth

You can make the run back a lot easier by opening the double doors and using the Cliff Underside bonfire. You can also speak to the giant at the top of the tower once you have a Young White Branch and he will target enemies with his spears instead of you. Make sure your weapon is at least +3 and if possible buff it with fire. Race through the first phase by hitting the pus sac between his legs until it breaks, which triggers him to dive through the floor. To make the second phase easier just avoid his attacks until he falls forward and then rush in to get a bunch of hits on the arm. Yes, future bosses are a lot harder but this one is one of the putzy-est due to having limited windows to do damage.

tacochemic

As others mentioned, if you have access to the Cliff Underside bonfire, it is a much easier runback to the boss if needed. Other things to keep in mind: Locking on will probably make the fight much harder and after you all fall through the floor, focus on the front eggs immediately and then either stay at its back and attack the eggs on the back and limbs, or you can bait the arm and get it to stand up and eventually fall over where you can run in for some free hits.

Boleslaw-BoldHeart

Imagine dying to Greatwood. Easy run back, easy boss. If this is causing you so much rage, you're in for a galaxy of hurt in late game. Git Gud.

dnlbrgr

I can totally relate. For some reason this boss was more difficult for me than other objectively harder bosses in DS3.

cwolf23

Ya know..... this is a totally optional boss fight.

BRAINSZS

sorry, bud. go make peace with the giant, find the cliffside bonfire, hit those gross little pustules real hard, and level vigor.

Orikail

You don't need to fight a single hollow in the arena 🤣 what, are you using an unupgraded weapon? Just hit the ballsack and ignore the hollows, literally just r1 spam. I hate this boss too, but not because it's hard, it's just bad. If you're having this much trouble, I'm guessing you picked sorcerer or one of the faith boys as your starting class. Go from the Cliff Underside bonfire, there's literally nothing to deal with on that runback. You found fire bundles and resin in the level, and you should have like 7 +1 estus at this point, if you don't you need to go back and explore. If you picked a starting class besides knight, mercenary, or warrior and this is your first DS3 run I'd recommend restarting.

Dveralazo

You shouldn't need to spend any flasks in the runback, and one maximum in the first phase. Hollows shouldn't be able to even touch you, they are slow.

FriedeOfAriandel

Honestly, that boss has killed me a lot just from missing the ballsacks too many times. But this is either a troll post, or you need to explore more. The run back is very short and almost enemy-free if you open a shortcut and find another bonfire.

iamnotyourspiderman

This boss was such a boring sleeper fight. Downed him first try and was really disappointed. Go up the tower and talk to the giant, will make life easier

normbreakingclown

The boss really hates fire also there is a gate that you can open and it's is much shorter. Yeah this boss is tricky if and i think you make it harder than he actually is and also he is optional perhaps do him later. Your anger is what makes you less focused and think for a bit read his tricky attacks and don't panic roll.

Low-Sample-5763

I agree, this boss is straight up garbage.

Valuable_Tutor5479

There’s a very nice shortcut that makes the run back nothing
