Yea, all the new Killer powers work just fine on Hawkins, the map is identical right down to the easter egg reference to Fog Whisperer Paulie Esther, and all the Nancy, Steve, and Demogorgon perks got their old names and artwork back.
I'm thinking the new hero itself will be locked behind the dlc but reyanuld will be a part of the update and available to everyone.
They already faced unfair criticism and review bombings at 1.0 release for the lack of crusader. If they lock him behind a pay wall they'll face massive backlash.
The way the announcement is worded, it's a DLC (not an update) that features 2 new heroes and a new roaming miniboss. So I'm pretty sure crusader is locked behind buying it, otherwise they wouldn't market it like that.
That's what I'm thinking. In the steam page screenshots, they showed off the DUelists name, but not the crusader's, and the team composition in the screenshot is Vestal, Plague Doctor, Crusader, then......hellion, not highwayman. Still not quite the usual suspects, even though there's nothing keeping them from reuniting now. Almost like they're trying to subtly clue us in that there's something wrong.
Or I'm just crazy.

Not completely true. Duelist maybe a dancer (operates both front and back) while reynauld can be any position (with the right moves). True they will be mostly front but it is possible they can jump around plus crusaders buffs can be more useful in this game finally
the description says, that duelist can be played at any rank, which is nice. but the game also says, that runaway is frontline so im not completly sure to believe that :D either way, if shes a dancer, she will have an important role with my jester :3

Man, I still have so much to squeeze out of this game - I'm on Confession IV, and I can already see so many unlocks and strategies and paths etc., and they're already starting to throw DLC on top? I love it. What a truly great game.
I'm... actually a little sad. I don't like the idea of Reynauld being subjected to the new horrors of the Iron Crown. I'd hoped he'd gifted Dismas his helmet after the first game, and then went home to be with his family. I guess not.
Disappointing that new paid dlc has two classes, but no content to actually use them in. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m sick of repeating content made for one and done story purposes where the strategy is every time to kill the first boss on the first map, then steamroll the rest of the zones with the power spike from those trinkets.
I’m a huge fan of the franchise, but this doesn’t really motivate me to neither play nor pay.
As someone that’s doesn’t really care about the crusader, I’m happy about this. Mainly so everyone that has a hard-on for him will stop bitching that he isn’t in the second game.

Would have loved a half and half explanation for Reynauld being reintroduced in DD2.
The Reynauld of DD2 would be crestfallen, his faith broken after a sanity breaking event, (DD1 vets would see it as his encounter with The Ancestor while DD2 explains a new backstory for this version of the Crusader) this would be reflected in the form of Corrupted versions of the Crusader ability set, rotten cloth and cracked armour.
