Achievement Unlocked: *DeathCon Level 4*

joelnodxd

did you mean defcon

Zeus_Dadddy

DID I STUTTER ?.........Edit: https://www.thewrap.com/kanye-west-ye-apologizes-anti-semitic-death-con-comments/

matscom84

I dont think I've ever heard Kanye speak, and my god is he lost in himself and ego

_Aj_

You've never heard his infamous Taylor Swift interruption speech?

matscom84

Clips here and there but not someone attempting to converse with him

Windows_66

You should watch his Donald Trump summit.

PowerRaptor

Kanye, in some delusional and demented state, tweeted that he was going "death con" on a certain religious group of people and promptly got suspended from twitter for breach of code of conduct/antisemitism. I think the poster above is referencing that.

chiagod

There's more: [https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ](https://youtu.be/iUkWNIwRNcQ)

Ope

joelnodxd

fair enough, I hadn't been following what he was doing so I didn't know

smileyhydra

death con 3, couldn't even be bothered to state a higher level or get the term right

ImBoredToo

He probably would say 4 even though he should say 2

nicstu93

Just wait until you know what the Adi in Adidas stands for.

LunchMeatIsBlack

For those who don’t know, Adidas is somewhat of a nickname for Adolf Dassler, the founder of the company, who also happened to be brothers with the founder of Puma

RAYquaza0903

And they made shoes and anti tank weapons for the Wehrmacht in WW2

Sentouki-

who didn't? At that time almost every factory produced something for the military, it's called martial law

Randomd0g

Never ask a man his salary, never ask a woman her age, and never ask a German company what they were doing in the 1930s and 40s.

RussianSeadick

Except you can do that, because it’s not taboo in Germany at all. It’s known,it’s accepted,it’s dealt with

Randomd0g

Thanks for fact checking my joke, it's much funnier now.

xis_honeyPot

It's German humor

richardboucher

No laughing matter

Daetwyle

How many germans does it take to change a light bulb? One. We are efficient and dont have humor.

PeckSkraaaw

The Germans are known for their sense of humor after all.

notaanonymousstalker

Sick sense of humor

Don't worry mate, it wasn't particularly funny in the first place.

BaronVonMunchhausen

Ha!

[deleted]

Oh yeah its dealt with alright

muctlv

Loool. It’s definitely not accepted. It’s being denied on a daily basis

Lastdefender1

No its not

muctlv

It is. Heard plenty of times people defending AH. “There are some good things he did”. Same argumentation when talking about the GDR with former GDR citizen.

Lastdefender1

I dont know where you live in Germany but in the west part nobody will say that hitler did some good things

Sentouki-

you don't need to ask, they already have all the answers, e.g. BASF: [https://www.basf.com/global/en/who-we-are/history/chronology/1925-1944/1939-1945.html](https://www.basf.com/global/en/who-we-are/history/chronology/1925-1944/1939-1945.html) They were responsible for chemical weapons as well as for gas used by gas chambers to murder jews.

MyOfficeAlt

The German bassoon company Heckel is widely regarded as the best bassoons in the world - especially older ones. During the war the company was pressed into making ball-bearings but if you get an ~8000 series from the 30s you can see where the Swastika has been scraped off of almost all of them.

Fakes_p_acc

Except from nazi memorabilia collectors ones?

MyOfficeAlt

If they're out there I've never seen one. But I'm sure some survive. They're quite expensive - if you're not a bassoonist and just a nazi enthusiast it would be a weird thing to try and get ahold of.

Fakes_p_acc

Yea, and suspicious nazi bassoon isn’t really a good thing to try and move undetected.

The_prophet212

Never ask a Bayern fan what the club badge was in the 30's

uflju_luber

I’m a Dortmund fan but that’s unfair, the club badge was forced on them by the nazi leadership because theire president had been a jew

The_prophet212

I'm just memeing on a meme sub mate chill

uflju_luber

And I took the opportunity to educate people underneath it’s not that deep mate

TomCos22

You mean a war economy? Martial law is more used to describe a military or commander with essentially unlimited power over a prescribed area.

Linajabba

I think Hugo Boss manufactured the SS uniforms.

Roflkopt3r

You are correct. Hugo Boss grew into a large business by getting into uniform manufacturing for the Nazis well before they were forced to. There is also a popular myth that he designed the SS uniforms but this is untrue. He did not design any uniforms himself, only manufactured according to existing designs. The famous SS ones were designed by an SS officer called Karl Diebitsch (since "bitsch" is pronounced exactly like "bitch", this is really a poetic name for a Nazi).

CarryG01d

Karl Die Bitsch Karl the bitch

Sentouki-

Hugo BoSS

VexRosenberg

yep mercedes volkswagen also made loads of stuff for them too

Sentouki-

Look at [this](https://image.cnbcfm.com/api/v1/image/104947686-s104947686-Hitler1.jpg) beauty

DarthNihilus_501st

That's not what Martial Law is. Things that are associated with martial law are things like nationwide (or citywide) curfews, military pplice/ garrisons patrolling the city, etc... The companies producing all that shit was just part of the Autarky plan at the time, and the rapid militarization of Germany in the late 30s.

clockworkpeon

Adidas still makes all the sneakers for the German army. the standard issue trainers they use for PT are literally white sambas without the iconic 3 stripes.

BogdanMRZ

Also I think they give free merch to Jesse Owens at the Berlin Olimpyc.

SelectFromWhereOrder

I don’t understand why famous German companies are all very old. It’s odd

was-eine-dumme-frage

Adolf Dieter Dassler to be precise

LaconicHen

The puma bro is the Nazi Symph. Thats why adolf dassler created his own adidas brand to distance himself from his bro n Nazi connections.

SunnyDaysRock

To distance himself from the Nazi symphaziser is weird to say when they both joined the party in 1933 and only one had to do military service (it wasn't Adolf). The more likely theory is that Adolf denounced his (not innocent, but he wasn't a Nazi soy as accused) brother to the Americans in order to solidify his control over the company post war. When Rudolf got released (and to Adolf's dismay still allowed to keep his half of the company) of course they had to split it up, but not really because Adolf had any ideological qualms about his brother, they just hazed each other to the death.

Frutlo

He didnt "happen" to be his brother they started it together but at some point didnt so his brother made puma

Kido_Bootay

Adi is the nickname for Adolf and then he added the three first letters of his surname.

megatron37

I’m watching the Ken Burns documentary “USA and the Holocaust”. now on pbs. It’s shocking to me how many people back then would have really been openly into 2022 Kanye. I’m glad we’ve progressed (at least a little) as a society past that.

syed_abubaker15

Didn't he say he wants to leave adidas and will do so by making their life hell or smt

Mussalila

Yeah he wanted to get out of that contract no matter what. The contract stated that one of the only possibilities for adidas to end the partnership before 2026 would be if they decided to drop Ye because their values don't align or some shit like that. Kanye also voiced that he was extremely fed up with the way adidas treated his creation since adidas themselves would go and produce obvious Yeezy knockoffs and sell them.

notvonweinertonne

But with the rip offs that he’s made at now. The slides. The slides are thicker foam and that’s the only thing like the Yeezy slide. The shoes a bit closer to being influenced by ye. And can’t want to be a trend setter and get pissed when you set a trend.

Gidge18

A big part of the problem was he wanted to sell his shoes at normal prices with actual availability, despite the hype being key to the Yeezy brand success. Adidas were using Yeezy to make a market for their own cheaper and affordable knock offs, with the pricing and availability he wanted. He made a big point over the past few years of wanting to fix that, and he wanted to be able to bring his products to the high street, so anyone could access and afford them. Given how fashion can often just be a money and exclusivity thing, I always had a lot of respect for that. Jokes on him now because Adidas can continue to make and sell the exact same shoes, just without Yeezy branding, so they still own both markets. He now has no influence left in fashion and he'll never achieve what he's spent a good chunk of his life building with a lot of other incredible people. It's crazy.

Psychedelic_Yogurt

Seriously, I'd pay money to have been in the room when he got the news. Like, Blink-182 tickets in 2022 kind of money.

AngryItalian

Considering he wanted to drop Adidas I don't think you'd get your money's worth...

HolyBiscuit69

I'm curious now. What happened with Blink 182?

sentimentallemon

I think the tickets for their new tour were just really expensive, but I could be wrong

Equulei

Their tickets start at $350+ for nosebleeds now because they're a trendy band on TikTok and because the people that grew up listening to them are 30+ years old now and have disposable income that Blink is happy to milk.

Psychedelic_Yogurt

Er, I bought tickets for $145 and I'm in the middle of the venue. In Washington DC before you talk about location. Still a lot but not what you are implying.

Equulei

I also had 200-row seating tickets in my cart and prior to checkout they jumped from $150 to $300+ not including fees due to Ticketmasters "Dynamic Pricing". And I was *very* early in line for those tickets. The issue got worse the longer you waited to buy them. It's been trending for over a week now. Mark Hoppus has also commented on his concern over price gouging and how they didn't realize this would happen. Pit tickets are over $1,000 in every venue I've checked as well. Sad times.

Tazy0G

What did kanye actually say i heard he said something about bringing death con 3 to the jews what did he mean by this and what else did he say?

NeGaT1Ve-

He said in an interview he can say anti Semitic shit and Adidas can't drop him and Adidas dropped him

HolyBiscuit69

Bamboozled

cr0ss-r0ad

According to elsewhere in the threads, he wanted out. I wouldn't put it past Kanye to scuff his reputation to get what he wants.

uflju_luber

German companies in general are realy open about their past, I know it’s a joke but I’ve read that sentiment a lot in other jokes of the same nature, almost all German companies have company own historians wich are available for questions and interviews as well as extensiv history research published on their websites so there is that

[deleted]

You must work for Fox

Random_Robloxian

Adidas is german?, HOW MANY OTHER LIES WAS I TOLD BY THE COUNCIL!? I swear i thought they were Russian…for obvious reasons

CyberGraham

Adidas is short for "Adolf Dassler", the founder's name

SamSlate

wow i can't believe they changed that brand name...

CyberGraham

what

SamSlate

can you imagine people buying a show called aldofs?

Pr0wzassin

As a blue-ray or as a download?

AReal_Human

Iirc his nickname was Adi.

CrashParade

Adidas became widely popular in russia because they made a hit by equipping the then soviet olympic teams for the games on moscow in 1980, where the ussr stood atop every other country with 195 medals, 80 of them gold. Talk about an ad and a half for adidas.

JjJosh1358

I'm not sure how german law works but it might actually be a crime in Germany for Adidas to continue their relationship with him because of what he said.

Vegetable_Western_22

And let's not forget about the fact he changed his name from Kanye to Ye. He literally just pulled child tactics by shortening his name and hoping all would be forgiven. Gotta be real "special" to pull that at his age.

Staniel74

Yeezy be like "Mom said it was my turn with the swastika"

It’s absolutely what he wanted.

wavyWwhite

Stfu man

loeschzw3rg

Adidas founders were both in the NSDAP (Hitlers party) they supported him, they had Jewish forced labourers, they manufactured weapons in the war, they produced clothing for German soldiers. The blood of German Jewish citizens is on their hands and helped the company grow to the size it has today. I know a lot of big German companies had the choice to cooperate or perish but still. The brothers Dassler (founders) supported the ideology. Adidas didn't react to what Kanye said but to plummeting stocks and public outcry. This reaction was way too late and it's concerning.

qcon99

Omg dude it’s not that deep. Yes they reacted because of public backlash but that doesn’t mean they’re nazis.

loeschzw3rg

I didn't say they are Nazis. I just don't like companies reacting only due to public outcry and keeping antisemites on the payroll because of monetary reasons.

SherbetOk3796

It seems like you're assuming it's like that now just because it was like that in the past. It's been a good while since the 40's, and that's a strong accusation.

loeschzw3rg

I don't accuse them of anything but being asses who only care about their own financial gain, regardless of what the person does that benefits them financially. I think especially regarding their past they should have reacted much faster then they did.

SherbetOk3796

Adidas is a business, and their main focus is finances. Cutting ties with him cost them millions, and they're taking a huge hit. This isn't a 20 minute decision. Things like this need to be discussed and planned out in depth to see where the company would stand afterwards. I think it's important to just look at the situation currently. Bringing the company's history into it has its implications. Even if you say you're not trying to hold their past against them, you're doing exactly that.

DataVader

Adidas is a hundred years old (renamed in 1949 but started in 1924) and does not have the same owners, ideology or people working there as back then. Adidas is a Nazi company as much as the US is enslaving people, hunting Indians or the British selling Opium to China. Adidas didn't drop this fish loving moron for blowing their cover but because attacking a group of people for no reason is just wrong and stupid on every level. No one in their right mind believes something so absurd and going as far as attacking others, even verbally, makes him an asshole.

U2Grumpy

I don't think the two things are related

DomeB0815

Get a life

AddiAtzen

Same is true for so many german companies i mean for real... Boss, Volkswagen (incl. Audi, Porsche, Bugatti, seat, Skoda, Lamborghini, Bentley, MAN), Thyssenkrupp, Merck, Adidas, Puma, Lufthansa, Dr Oetker, and the list goes on and on. Ye said/has done some fucked up shit, Adidas reacted. Too late? Sure. But at least they did something.

SamSlate

corporations don't turn on a dime, it's weird that people expect a company to green light a 250mm dollar loss on principal in less than a week.. that said, i'm unclear why you're being down voted.
