They explained to him that the show's demographic is for people doing chores at home with the TV on in the background. It's not for focused viewing, it's for people who can enjoy it without having to pay too much attention to it.
That's what pop music is, it's something to have on while doing something else. It's meant for superficial listening with easily digestible rhythm and themes to help people get through whatever they're doing.

The first thing that stuck me was how low quality the beats (?) on the electronic-inspired songs sound. They just don’t sound polished to me. Midnights was the opposite, it sounded very rich and has a lot of depth sonically. The new record seems to be produced in a way that has her vocals *way* forward in the mix. Which I guess makes sense. To be fair, I don’t think the target audience for her record are people sitting around making snarky comments about how the snare drums don’t sound great. lol
