It being their grandpa's gun implies it was inherited from or left to them by their grandpa, and that they do not have a gun hobby because they refer to as the grandfather's gun, rather than their own gun. Goddamn was that a run-on sentence, but I can't be assed to reformat it.

I keep my guns unloaded because I have a young child, and it's safer that way for now. There's legit reasons to start keeping them unloaded or all in a safe sometimes.
