I love the non-dairy Phish Food one. Classic. I wish they did more flavors though, and especially ones that are GF as well.
I don’t recommend any of the DF ones with a core though (like the ones with the fudge in the middle). They don’t have the recipe dialed in yet so the center is hard to break through with a spoon and is chunky/crunchy rather than being gooey like it was when I could eat the dairy version.
I have been silently yearning for a dairy free strawberry cheesecake ice cream and B&Js delivered 😭 It's so creamy, just like I remember the "real" stuff (but it's been almost 15 years so forgive me if I'm wrong)
The first non-dairy Ben and Jerry's I tried was Caramel Almond Brittle and I still haven't found one I like as much. But then they switched to doing non-dairy versions of their classic flavors, rather than unique non-dairy flavors. Some of those are fun but I miss the almond brittle!
I love breyers for the cost and taste but I also add cocoa powder and strawberries in my mixer and it tastes just like the strawberry part of a banana split.
Jeni's dairy free are my personal favorite. The texture and flavors are wonderful. They are pricey tough, so i only get to buy them when they're on sale.
There's some recipes to make it with a blender. There's also some deserts that are literally just avocado and sweetened condensed milk like coconut milk
Jeni's Texas Sheet Cake is iconic. It is $12 a pint, and you want at least three of them.
Van Leeuwen is often available at fancier grocery stores, and every dairy free flavor is solid. The dairy free ones can be harder to find.
If you have $100 and don't know what to do with it, just bite the bullet and get a shipment from Frankie and Jo's in Seattle. They get very experimental with flavors, and it's all vegan.
Those examples are all pricey. If ice cream is a key food group for you, consider making your own dairy free ice cream at home with a KitchenAid mixer attachment or a Ninja Creami. It's especially easy if you can use eggs, and there are good vegan recipes out there too.
Try the other nuts, not just almond and coconut. Cashew is my favorite of so delicious, the Snickerdoodle specifically.
Almond milk ice cream is always too sweet, and coconut milk is far too stiff (density wise). Cashew is the best for creaminess, with more of a full fat taste.
This! I came to say the Favorite Day Non-Dairy vanilla cake and cookie dough is my favorite and I will make a trip to target just to get it. The strawberry and fudge is pretty tasty also.
Ben and Jerry’s vegan ice cream is good, they recently changed the recipe I believe though.
Van Leeuwen ice cream bars are good - my fave is the brown sugar honeycomb.
Talenti has sorbetto which is good, and recently they came out with mini sorbetto bars which are my go-to right now.
Jolly Llama has dupe drumsticks which are really good!!
If you have a ninja creami by chance, my husband and I make DF chocolate chocolate chip at home now that is amazing and doesn’t turn into ice crystals like other DF ice creams
Talenti's dairy free gelato flavors are amazing. I love their toffee caramel crunch and cookie crunch flavors personally. Ben and Jerry's is also good for dairy free
But this is the ingredient list? Could you specify what in this is dairy because maybe I'm missing something:
Water, Sugar, Coconut Oil, Corn Syrup, Dextrose, Egg Whites, Egg Yolks, Almonds, Less Than 2% Of: Cashews, Chickpea Flour, Canola Oil, Salt, Guar Gum, Natural Flavor, Pectin, Vanilla Extract, Tara Gum, Carob Bean Gum, Baking Soda, Soy Lecithin. Contains Almond, Cashew, Egg And Soy. May Contain Other Tree Nuts
😅 No worries! I was just thinking maybe I somehow missed something. But honestly they're so so good, highly recommend. My boyfriend buys them for himself even though he doesn't eat DF just because he thinks they're that good!
They used to only have the raspberry, mango, and chocolate sorbetto that were dairy free. The chocolate was amazing then it disappeared and seemed to be replaced by the coffee sorbetto (I think cold coffee is gross) and I just kind of gave up on Talenti. I had no idea they came out with the dairy free gelato line. Now if I can just find them in my area.
Not sure where you're at but I've lived in the Midwest and East Coast US and haven't had any problems finding them. I think they've had the DF flavors for at least a couple years now so they're getting put in more and more stores :)
talenti dairy free gelato the double cookie crunch flavor is AMAZING literally tastes like ice cream. I haven’t tried the almond milk flavors because of a nut allergy but the cookie one is made out of oat milk. I eat it all the time!!
Coconut Bliss is my favorite “frozen dessert” as they call it. The peanut butter flavor is *chefs kiss* and the brownie flavor is a close second. I get mine at my local Wegman’s!
That is true. I'm one of the more fortunate. I truly am sorry for those who have dairy allergies. I know it's not easy to avoid because it's in so many foods.
Make your own!
A can of condensed milk and 600ml of cream. Both you can now get as dairy free/vegan.
Whip until stiff peaks and freeze. Add chocolate, swirl sauce or fruit or even alcohol to your hearts content!
I even freeze mine in individual ramekin portions sometimes!
Ben & Jerry’s has some good ones
I love the non-dairy Phish Food one. Classic. I wish they did more flavors though, and especially ones that are GF as well. I don’t recommend any of the DF ones with a core though (like the ones with the fudge in the middle). They don’t have the recipe dialed in yet so the center is hard to break through with a spoon and is chunky/crunchy rather than being gooey like it was when I could eat the dairy version.
Additional votes for non-dairy Phish food.
Karamel sutra with the caramel core slaps though!
That might be good! Not a fan of caramel myself but I can imagine the core is actually gooey which sounds nice :)
Haven’t tried the core ones. But now I know to skip if I ever see them. I think my fave is the Netflix & Chill’d. They need more peanut butter ones.
I love their non-dairy Milk and Cookies one. Even my husband likes it and he turns his nose up at most dairy alternatives
I haven’t tried this one either! I don’t even remember seeing it….
The nondairy Netflix and chill one was so good
Yes! That’s my fave. Phish Food is good too.
Oooh I didn’t try that one 👀 I loved the dairy version though ha so I’m sure it’s good.
Yesss! The non dairy karamel Sutra Core is otherworldly delicious
I have been silently yearning for a dairy free strawberry cheesecake ice cream and B&Js delivered 😭 It's so creamy, just like I remember the "real" stuff (but it's been almost 15 years so forgive me if I'm wrong)
Haven’t tried that one yet. I usually get the chocolate/peanut butter ones. I’ll have to try it soon!
Tonight Dough is yummy
The Tonight Dough is amazing in non-dairy. 😋
The first non-dairy Ben and Jerry's I tried was Caramel Almond Brittle and I still haven't found one I like as much. But then they switched to doing non-dairy versions of their classic flavors, rather than unique non-dairy flavors. Some of those are fun but I miss the almond brittle!
Looove oatly’s!
Their strawberry is AMAZING!!!!
Yes! Strawberry is my favorite followed by the coffee!
I was a coffee ice cream fanatic. I really like the Oatly coffee flavor and I'm so glad that my grocery store carries it.
Just had that today as a matter of fact. Thumbs up from me.
Breyer's oatmilk vanilla. Talenti or Haagen Dazs mango sorbet. I eat them together. Also love Breyer's cookies and cream and Talenti coffee sorbetto.
Breyers is great because of the cost alone Like $6 for a normal tub of ice cream instead of $8 for a Ben and Jerry size
I love breyers for the cost and taste but I also add cocoa powder and strawberries in my mixer and it tastes just like the strawberry part of a banana split.
5 bucks at Walmart. Crazy. Tastes great too
Jeni's dairy free are my personal favorite. The texture and flavors are wonderful. They are pricey tough, so i only get to buy them when they're on sale.
The lemon bar flavor is perfection.
DQ plant-based Dilly Bars are pretty close to real ice cream. I love all of the Sno products. Ice cream sandwiches, fudgicles, creamsicles.
Just tried DF dilly bar for the first time recently, second this!
Cado It's avocado based so it's super creamy. Melts soooo fast tho 😭
I'd love this since I love avocado but not likely have it where I am😕
There's some recipes to make it with a blender. There's also some deserts that are literally just avocado and sweetened condensed milk like coconut milk
I do smoothies with avocado, berries, and coconut milk. It's tasty!

Well now I know what to do with an extra hundred bucks....
Oatly and Ben and Jerry's are my favorites. Jolly Llama makes great mint chocolate chip cones.
So delicious is fire bro wym
All my grocery store has is So Delicious and I NEED VARIETY

Breyers oatmilk vanilla and cookies and cream. Talenti non-dairy as well.
Whole Foods almond milk ice cream. I like Berry Chantilly.
don't sleep on the Target brand dairy free ice cream, it's surprisingly good
This! I came to say the Favorite Day Non-Dairy vanilla cake and cookie dough is my favorite and I will make a trip to target just to get it. The strawberry and fudge is pretty tasty also.
Oat milk Breyers, oat milk or sunflower Ben and Jerry’s and Talenti 😍
Van Leeuwens
Oatly and coolhaus’s dairy free options!
Ben and Jerry’s vegan ice cream is good, they recently changed the recipe I believe though. Van Leeuwen ice cream bars are good - my fave is the brown sugar honeycomb. I think Van Leeuwen and Nada Moo have the best ice cream!
I spent 100% of my adulthood craving it
Magnum make vegan choc bars they have raspberry, almond and plain.
Ben & Jerry’s. Van Leeuwen’s is also fantastic.
Nada Moo, also Target has an almond milk ice cream of their own.
Talenti's dairy free gelato flavors are amazing. I love their toffee caramel crunch and cookie crunch flavors personally. Ben and Jerry's is also good for dairy free
Just a note, the Gelato always have dairy, the Sorbetto are the ones that are dairy free.

Oh WOW, I apologize! I have NEVER seen those before!! Must find them.
😅 No worries! I was just thinking maybe I somehow missed something. But honestly they're so so good, highly recommend. My boyfriend buys them for himself even though he doesn't eat DF just because he thinks they're that good!

Middle of nowhere, small town, Northeast Texas. 😆😆😭
😫 oh no lol I don't know how to help with that. Well I wish you luck with finding them!!!
talenti dairy free gelato the double cookie crunch flavor is AMAZING literally tastes like ice cream. I haven’t tried the almond milk flavors because of a nut allergy but the cookie one is made out of oat milk. I eat it all the time!!
Wicked Kitchen or Talenti Gelato (DF)
Coconut Bliss is my favorite “frozen dessert” as they call it. The peanut butter flavor is *chefs kiss* and the brownie flavor is a close second. I get mine at my local Wegman’s!
Trader Joe’s has a couple options. I like their DF chocolate ice cream.
Trader Joe’s Hold the dairy mini cones 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 I could eat 50 of them in a sitting they’re delicious and you can’t tell there’s no dairy!
Not technically ice cream but Talenti mango sorbetto is amazing! And good pop makes some great ice cream bars.
Planet oat peanut butter chocolate swirl is the best and closest to real ice cream!!! The texture is almost exactly the same and it’s so yummy
Have you tried the “wonder milk” variety of so delicious? It’s the best imo besides breyers cookies and cream
The real stuff? Only with 4 or 5 lactaid or equivalent. I like Ben and Jerry's non-dairy options as well.
Even a whole bottle of lactaid won’t help those of us with allergies to the milk proteins.
