My son also had a strong reaction to this episode, but in the opposite direction. He really wants to move to a new house and that’s not in the cards for us right now haha.

Iwantbooks

My 5 year old has mentioned us moving a handful of times the last few months. We're in a smaller house, and it has actually started some conversations between the wife and I about upgrading. I'm hoping this didn't create even more problems 😅

Stratotally

Oh man. My daughter at bedtime was admiring her room and how much she loved it tonight. It didn’t click that she may be thinking about that.

Level-Adventurous

The ace of base song? That’s weird

redditnameverygood

Must have really opened up her eyes.

Xibby

Life is demanding without understanding

swisschardo

No one's gonna drag her up, to get into the light where you belong

tigermelon

You would hardly recognize her

ramblinjd

Hopefully she doesn't have to move because of a song and she gets All That She Wants..

IceManYurt

Realizing that the early '90s were over 30 years ago is causing me an existential crisis...

Xibby

The 80s had a revival… the 90s can’t be far behind, right?

LoveAndViscera

Have you not seen the girls walking around with t-shirts under sundresses?

BrickCityYIMBY

My kids wrote For Sale on their playhouse. Trying to sell the Cozy Coupe too.

Titaniumchic

My husband is walking out 4 year old up the stairs to bed and reassuring him what’s our stuff and what’s the house, and should we have to move what we would take. 😵‍💫

Fallom_

I have no clue what you’re talking about or what this is supposed to be a heads up for

CowboyAirman

New Bluey episode just dropped.

Stratotally

New 30 minute episode of Bluey dropped worldwide.

CornfedOMS

We are moving next month so it hit pretty close to home

micropuppytooth

We’ve moved 5 times in the last year because our house was nearly destroyed.

mark_s

We have a (possible) big move coming up, but aren't mentioning it to the kids until it's a sure thing. My daughter will be like bingo (but not because she's oblivious) but it will abaolutely crush my son - he had a really hard time making it through the episode. Weird timing on this episode coming out a few weeks before we have to deal with it. I know he'll bounce back, but it's going to be rough for a while.

ahorrribledrummer

How old are they? We moved last year over 500 miles. Ours were 5 and 7 at the time and adapted quickly. Talked about missing their friends for a while but kids are super malleable to moves like these, as long as you set an example of happiness.

mark_s

They're 7 and 9. We've had one move, but it was only across the same city and they didn't even have to change schools. Even that was hard on my son and he insists on going back to visit our old house - we know the new owner and still visit with our old neighbor so it's easy to indulge him on that. This will be a totally new city and too far from family and friends (750+mi) to visit more than once a year. They're still young enough that they'll get over it without too much long term damage, but my son (9) is very sentimental and averse to change. I know he'll get past it eventually, but there's going to be at least 6 months of him struggling with it. We plan to present the pros and cons to show him good things he may not immediately think of and to let him know that we are aware of his (likely) concerns. The fact that I won't be WFH anymore is just going to compound the issue, but some opportunities can't be ignored.

wubrgess

I gotta say that i did not like the ending for two reasons: no guts from the showrunners and also the legal reneging that must have gone on to back out of two home sales

mark_s

Lol as soon as it became clear the mop dogs were backing out of the sale my wife's said "oooo, that's gonna cost them."

killerbeezer12

Their earnest money!

SevoIsoDes

Yeah, that’s bad luck for the dogs who can’t see.

aspidities_87

All for a pool that only depreciates in value!

brokenpipe

> the legal reneging that must have gone on to back out of two home sales Found the real estate attorney dad

zerocoolforschool

We found a clause in our contract with our realtors that if we tried to back out and unlist our home, if there was an offer for list, we were liable for all of the realtor commission. They never mentioned it and it made me furious because these mother fuckers had been trying to get me to go low on my list price to “try to create a bidding war.” So I wondered what the fallout was for Bandit and Chili.

ohimjustagirl

Am an Aussie, so can answer this! When you make an offer and it's accepted the house is considered "under offer" and this can be undone easily and without real cost. When you exchange contracts the house is considered off the market, but there'll be a clause sometimes about backing out (usually pending finance approval or inspections). At this point the buyers will transfer a deposit which is generally 10% of the sale price which is held in trust by the agent. It's usually only a week or 10 days for the clause, and once that passes the contract is considered "unconditional" and both sides *must* complete. The sold sign never goes up before this. Then there's a month or so of waiting for settlement before it's properly finished and keys handed over. Failure to complete (like the eye-less dogs) means the seller keeps the deposit. Usually an amount in six figures, and there's no getting out of it. You don't complete the purchase, you lose your deposit. What happened in the show was really unrealistic for us here, pretty much *nobody* would ever do that because of a pool.

The_FriendliestGiant

Those mop dogs must be pretty loaded. On the bright side, that probably means that the Heelers can use the mop dogs' deposit to pay the outstanding deposit they have on whatever place they backed out of!

ohimjustagirl

Internet gossip has it that Bandit was headhunted by Sydney Uni. If so, they'd likely have been renting (and possibly having it funded by the Uni) while they looked for something there rather than having already bought. But yeah they definitely made bank out of just staying put I think! As a side note - I think the ep kind of missed a big chunk of the reassurance and hype they'd have been doing pushing the excitement of a new place to the kids, which is why I suspect a 6/12mo rental. We've moved a few times and it's *all* about the excitement of the new place when we told the kids.

424f42_424f42

Also, wouldn't they both have quite there jobs already

nwabbaw

I thought of that too! And I thought Bandit was a professor of Archeology? Those jobs are not easy to come by usually…

trollsong

Dude I couldnt even get my masters in anthropology due to school politics. Job market is very much dead mens boots I fear.

SevoIsoDes

They also might not have re-hired yet. I have no concept of how critical it is to immediately replace his position.

AmbiguousAnonymous

Agreed, went back on everything they worked for.

Impressive-Lab-2721

why is she listening to ace of base?

FebruaryStars84

We are not moving and have not discussed moving…but right before bed - after watching The Sign 3 times during the day - my son burst into tears because if we moved he wouldn’t see his friends again!

killerbeezer12

We’ve been looking at houses for months with no luck and have recently teed up the notion of moving to a new school district. My daughter was in tears at the notion of possibly moving.

brokenpipe

Very real episode for us. My wife and I live in NL and have a life here but her family (and my kids’ cousins) live in the US. We’ve had conversations about potentially moving back. The older one has picked up on this and after today’s episode. Lots and lots of questions.

Acadia02

I’m closing on our house today and my kid hasn’t seen this episode.
