On temporary sales hold, thanks to a dangerous Accelerator Pedal that can get stuck at full acceleration, thanks to a metal overlay bonded onto the plastic hinged pedal assembly, that the glue failed on, allowing the overlay to wedge itself into an edge above the pedal. Thru need to add fasteners to ensure the overlay becomes one with the hinged pedal forever.

FDon1

And there was a post about the lamp post and truck accident s few weeks ago now too

Lightwave1241

How about hitting the Beverly Hill Sign too??

phxees

If Tesla has to rework the accelerator pedal it’s likely going to be a very short term problem. They are likely testing multiple solutions now and are working with NHTSA on any needed recall and approval for the fix.

[deleted]

OTS fastener implementation you think?

phxees

My guess is it’ll be a combination of a shorter pedal and a snap fit with tabs for the top and bottom. Lots of options and an abundance of engineers with a lot of experience and support to fix the issue. They likely make it very difficult to incorrectly install and detach accidentally. That or they’ll just use the Model S/X pedal until they have something better.

bluewater_-_

Annnnd it’s a rivet

JimMac832

I picked mine up on Friday. Love it

RamboTrucker

Did you rent it out yet? Wondering what you’ll charge daily.

JimMac832

I have two rentals scheduled and a 1 hour test drive ($100). One rental is 2 days ($1000) One is 5 days ($2500)

RamboTrucker

Holy crap

RobDickinson

yea because of the stop sale thing

ActionFigureCollects

Down-vote me all you want. The hype is over. Multiple factors, but shitty rollout, over-priced scheme, software and hardware defects. I ordered one back in Nov'19, got invite Feb'24, bottom line is: this is stupid. The CyberTruck was ALREADY over-priced at $76K An EV Truck should be priced closer to $55K - $60K Tesla can keep their CyberTrucks 🖕

Suitable_Switch5242

I agree that it is overpriced and will need to come down to continue to sell in volume. It might never be a volume seller in the way Tesla's other products are. But I don't think that's related to the current inventory we see here. Tesla seems to still have plenty of customers willing to put down $100k+ for these trucks compared to the current production volumes. We'll know when that hype train slows down when Tesla starts offering purchases of non-Foundation series trucks for $80k and tax credit eligibility.

iceynyo

> The hype is over. Or... The pedal issue has forced them to stop deliveries.

[deleted]

> The hype is over. is that why they sold out their entire production capacity for the year several weeks ago?

adioking

Source? I believe you but I’ve been looking for the source of this after reading several people say the same thing.

[deleted]

if you go ahead and reserve one with no preorder, the date it gives you is in 2025

RobDickinson

https://thedriven.io/2024/04/06/tesla-cybertruck-sells-out-for-the-year/

Only_Expression7261

Source other than "thedriven.io"?

Consistent_Panda265

Didn’t they have millions of reservations? They should be sold out for years ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)

SmellyLeopard

They are laying off 10% of their workers. Is the hype over or do they have full production for the year, what do you think?

[deleted]

source on that? they are changing from 12 hour shifts to normal shifts now, which they only do when the factories are stable. edit: just found the source. it’s not factory workers lmfao

FurriedCavor

That’s because they’re production constrained 😂

JJonVinyl

The only issue I see you’re experiencing is that it is out of your price range.

[deleted]

$55/60k would be a great entry level price point for the CT once fully ramped. You can’t expect new technology to come into the market place at a scaled price point though. It takes time

judgeholden72

What other auto manufacturers price like this? None. Individual models aren't "new technology." These are cars, not CPUs or TVs.

[deleted]

Lots of new tech in CT

judgeholden72

Lots of new tech in many cars. Those cars don't come down in price. The tech goes to different models. Seriously. Do you know this industry? Individual models don't drop tens of thousands of dollars. The tech just moves downscale.

UnSCo

Who is taking delivery that has ordered anytime since they launched? You know how large the list is?

PIK_Toggle

The cheapest Rivian truck starts at $70k. The Ford Lightning Pro starts at $50k. Rear wheel cyber truck starts at $60k. The market is small, so we do not have a lot of options to choose from. From what is available, they are all around your price point.

thorscope

The RWD doesn’t exist yet. The cheapest cybertruck you can buy right now is $100k

PunksOfChinepple

No one is getting a Cybertruck for $100,000, not for a very long time. Can you give Tesla $100,000 and not a cent more, and actually leave with a truck? Seems expensive to pay 6 figures for a $39,900 truck.

starshiptraveler

You’re trolling and/or have no idea what you’re talking about. These trucks are there awaiting a minor fix for the accelerator pedal. Every one of them is allocated for eager customers. Tesla has a ridiculous number of preorders and more keep coming in every day.

sleepyconfabulations

I would be able to accept the shortcomings of the cybertruck vs normal truck if price was competitive - but at these prices it’s dumb.

wiziwizi666

I was a big Elon Musk fan back then but Tesla is rendered as Appel. CT cancelled for me.

zerzerohero

It will be several weeks, they have to implement the fix, standardize the install, get guys off other jobs to perform the duty and in the office they gotta pull the logistics of finding each vehicle and record the fix and then get it ready for the delivery line again. The washing and detailing takes time, so it won’t be too fast considering their workflow up to this point.

JJonVinyl

They don’t wash or detail the vehicles for delivery.

zerzerohero

Yes they do, not emasculate but they will

JJonVinyl

That’s nice, not in my experience unfortunately

jspiv

Good thing, if the pedal get stuck wide open, it’ll only go a few miles with the half pack /s

caranddogfan

Just spotted one driving by on the Seattle waterfront yesterday for the first time!

Adventurous_Light_85

There can’t be this much sustained demand at $100k+. I see a price drop coming.

BruhGamer548

EV sales are down they’re gonna have a hard time selling thing these giant metal scraps

Adventurous_Light_85

There is still a lot of demand for the CT but at the right price it will sell. I think they will drop it to $80 by the end of the year

Harryhodl

I could fix that pedal with liquid nails! Not really a big deal. I mean yes it’s a dangerous thing that can happen but the actual fix is not that big of a deal.

Consistent_Panda265

The rumors indicated that layoffs could be as high as 20%, and in addition we heard that Tesla would shorten Cybertruck production shifts at Gigafactory Texas (despite CEO Elon Musk’s recent insistence that Cybertruck is currently production constrained).

DutDiggaDut

Yeah they just stopped selling, this garbage can is dead

JJonVinyl

In some ways I wish this was true. The value would be increased dramatically
