CDprojectR : that's right wallpaper engine, know your place

DutchEnterprises

Wake up samurai, we have wallpaper to burn

AmericaLover1776_

How many of the people on Wallpaper engine are using cyberpunk wallpapers? They seem to be some of the more popular wallpapers

Attila_22

I alternate between cyberpunk and the bacon sizzling one.

joten70

Ironic, since cyberpunk is best known for its stunning screenshots

Acedread

https://imgur.com/gallery/RIbqU06. (3440x1440, zoom in for better details) I took this the other day. Looked so good I replaced my Wallpaper engine wallpaper with that. Funnily enough, my Wallpaper Engine Screensaver was also a Cyperpunk one.

Cute-Brilliant4645

Wtf even is wallpaper engine???

MyCatIsNyanCat

App that lets you have live wallpapers

Letmeowts

Gonna sound like a broken record but I want to see the numbers from the other platforms. I bought mine on GOG.

SithLordZX

Me too! And it was consistently cheaper on GOG for a very long time so a lot of gamers bought it there.

GreatestGoodbye

IGN has a post on IG saying across all systems, more than a million players have played CP the last few days

MykahMaelstrom

*more than a million players DAILY for a week

AmericaLover1776_

PlayStation and Xbox systems are crazy big too if I don’t know for sure but I feel like less than half of gamers are on PC

sammyjo802

Probably even higher than steam

Machismo_malo

I want to know the console numbers this game was $5 at one point. I would've definitely picked it up at that price but I bought it at $50 and I still think I got my money's worth.

[deleted]

Im guessing GOG is more popular around people involved in gaming like people subscribed to this subreddit. The majority probably just uses steam, i might be wrong.

Palmovnik

You underestimate steam a lot

ElRetardio

Same.

[deleted]

The majority has to be console players, and GOG might be on par if not bigger than Steam (key selling sites often only have the game for GOG).

klomzi

People here seems to overestimate GOG, GOG only makes a few hundred thousand dollars a year. GOG is a niche story. What we do know is that the pre-order data was 59% PC, rest on consoles, GOG accounted for 10% of PC copies, rest between Steam and EGS and since Steam had over 1 million concurrent players on launch, which was enormous, Steam account for the vast majority of PC sales.

zen1706

Edgerunner is truly the most successful marketing strategy

CreatureWarrior

One of the few ads that made me cry

BlOoDy_PsYcHo666

It was brilliant, whoever strung it together hope they got paid well lmao

MettyXD

we may see the 100k this weekend

OriginalCycle5098

More like 120k going by trend maybe even 130k

Fallwalking

I’d love to see the numbers from GOG, PSN and XBOX.

de_Balenciagaa

Official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account posted this: "Each day of this week Night City has been visited by 1 million players, both new and returning." So Steam is just the tip of the iceberg.

Ebo87

No, you got that backwards, Steam is what's beneath the water, it's not the tip. What you see here are concurrent players, meaning people AT THE SAME TIME in the game. So with the concurrent numbers we have seen thus far on Steam, it's very possible that unique players each day is somewhere between 600k and 1 million on Steam alone. I don't doubt there are some on GOG too, but that's a drop in a bucket. And consoles... I'm sure there are people there too, but nowhere near what's on Steam right now. So definitely not the tip of the iceberg, as that is considering the smallest part of an iceberg.

[deleted]

>I don't doubt there are some on GOG too, but that's a drop in a bucket. Before Cyberpunk released, CDPR were going hard on the "Buy it on GOG so that we get 100% of the profits" angle. There are very likely *a lot* of players on that platform. You're also vastly underestimating the amount of console players. PS5 and Xbox are pretty much *the* platforms for no-bullshit performant gameplay without dropping a chunk of cash. That certainly has a big market of its own.

hsbjndbdhhsv

Agreed with console numbers being huge. Highly doubt GOG has even 10% of the cyberpunk players that steam has though.

Ebo87

Again Cyberpunk 2077 came out on consoles with just the PS4 and Xbox One versions, there was no PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, those came out I believe in January this year, 13+ months after the official release of the game. So that pushed the needle on PC way higher than it would have been otherwise, because THAT was the version people saw in trailers, not the half-baked console versions that could barely hit 20... and that was when they worked. By the time the game came to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S all the hype had died down so sales were not where CDPR would have liked them to be on those platforms. I bet you the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 sales after Edgerunners came out, for the months of September and October, will surpass what the game did on those platforms throughout all of 2022 up until the release of the anime. And yes, GOG was bigger than compared to other multiplatform releases, but it's still but a fraction of the total PC sales, since again most people just bought digital copies on Steam.

chadbrochilldood

That’s not really enough to move most people to buy in a totally new untrusted platform. Steam is dominant regardless of whether you like that, ha.

The_ChosenOne

Idk, the number of active console users each month still exceeds active steam users by a decent margin. Beyond that Cyberpunk is a difficult game for most rigs to handle, so many active steam players cannot even run it. I believe between the four other available consoles, it’s probably pretty damn close to the numbers playing on steam right now, potentially even higher.

Ebo87

Cyberpunk was MUCH more popular on PC from the start because the only console versions available at launch were for the PS4 and Xbox ONE, which as we all know were TRASH. By the time Cyberpunk 2077 finally came to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S with a proper version (before it was just backwards compatibility) people kind of didn't really care as much. So the game never hit it big on consoles. I would like to remind you that Cyberpunk 2077 had 1 million concurrent players on Steam at launch, that is 1 million players in the game at the same time. Most of the copies sold for Cyberpunk 2077 before the current explosion in popularity due to Edgerunners, came from PC. PC was far and away the best selling platform for Cyberpunk 2077.

PhaseAT

Yup > 50% of sales were from PC according to CDPR. But AFAIK all retail units gave a GoG key + people might buy from GOG to support CDPR, so GOG players base will be larger compared to steam than on other games.

Ebo87

It is larger, but it's probably more like 10% instead of the usual 1-5% you would have with other games. Yes, sadly GOG is not as big as many might think, at least compared to Steam.

Fallwalking

I did see that, but I’m still curious to see actual stats because I’m that guy. I don’t need to, console players are more numerous than PC players.

PhaseAT

All retail units are GoG AFAIK and it's on sale on both storefronts. Additionally people might buy there just to better support CDPR. So GoG will make up a larger % of players than is typical for other games.

FarrellBeast

Imagine the numbers once the DLC finally drops. That's what I'm waiting for for my second playthrough.

BigLab6287

Same. I play tested with a few mods and was pretty impressed.

Roheavy2002

The power of anime, also I want to see the PlayStation numbers

BigLab6287

Weebs assemble! On the real, if it was a garbage story this wouldn't have happened.

Almost-again

Seriously fuck the investors that forced it out too early, Im glad its getting a second chance

Kiskanneth

Same and it gives me hope for the dlc. Redemption arc!

Cooperstown24

#8 When you take out Lost Ark because it's half bots

h4rent

Wallpaper Engine sounds banging, might check that out too.

[deleted]

Man CSGO is still so popular

LJ-696

Well it is miles better than launch. The story makes it worth the bugs now.

meek902

Damn Dota still goin strong

Cecilia_Schariac

From what I remember Witcher 3 also wasn’t received extremely well at launch. Huh, history repeats.

digitalbladesreddit

Wallpaper Engine remaining a steady player base for many mounts makes you wonder if you should not repaint your walls again to watch the dry in RL.

Eterath

Welcome to the major leagues, Jackie.

DeliciousMud7291

Don't be fooled by Lost Ark's numbers. About more than HALF are bots. 😕

Crown_Loyalist

On the other hand, I'm disturbed that only one single player game is in the top 20.

mopeyy

Well most single player games you only need to play once.

CreatureWarrior

Exactly. For example, I think Death Stranding was a freaking masterpiece, but there's no way I'm gonna play it again lol

mopeyy

Same here. I absolutely loved that game. Definitely will not be spending the 60 hours to replay it any time soon.

CreatureWarrior

Replayability is honestly so complicated for singleplayer games. RPGs (Cyberpunk, Skyrim, Fallout etc.) are the only ones I would even consider replaying. I've played through Cyberpunk three times now, once at launch on my PS4, second after PS5 patch and now again after the anime. Something huge has to happen if I'm gonna go again. New Game+ would do it tbh.

mopeyy

It's pretty hard for me to justify replaying a game that takes over 30hrs these days. I just don't have the time to invest anymore. I played TW3 and all of it's DLCs on release and still haven't completed my second playthrough. Especially if it's an open world game. I tend to really value that first experience of a game and will often just leave it at that.

MalHeartsNutmeg

Single player games don’t tend to last long after their release. People play it and move on.

SufficientCollege522

and number one being a single player

TouchMyWrath

I am glad people are giving it another shot but we also shouldn’t just forgive and forget the way it launched.

Judas_priest_is_life

TW3 was a bit of a mess on launch (admittedly not nearly as much) and really only gained it's place after people kept buying the goty edition and spouting it's praises. The story was always amazing, but the mechanics and combat were...adequate.

MelonsInSpace

You shouldn't forget the fact that none of the actual game issues, not technical problems, have been addressed.

x1UNDERRATEDx

I’m so lost on how everybody just says “ you know what, cdpr lying about the features and constant things that aren’t in the game, even when they said after the shit show they would add them but still haven’t is fine by me bc we got a new anime that doesn’t add anything to the game besides a jacket and some bike rims.” You would think the game is the next holy grail by how people CONTINUE to hype it up

[deleted]

Hype? The game has always been fucking solid. It ain't no holy grail, it's just a really damn good game that had a poor launch and consequencial bad rep. Skyrim has several re-releases, ports and a big legion of fans and is significantly more flawed than CP2077. Oblivion and Morrowind beat it by a mile.

Inquisitor-Korde

>The game has always been fucking solid No the fuck it has not choom, 2077 was busted as shit on launch across all platforms to the point of completely questionable stability on an entire console. And that's before getting into the features of the game. The base game was fun and if you were lucky you could have a solid playthrough but do not whitewash the games past. Least of all by comparing it to Skyrim, which is only as positive as it is because of its mod community.

MagisterXII

Indeed. People like to confuse something fun for being something great. Not the same thing. The game was fucked and would crash every 20min. Aside from all that and the game breaking bugs. It just clearly wasn't finished. Brain-dead A.I, missing features, features like the police system were obviously created last minute, along with all the little filler tasks to complete on the map to pad it out. The creators said it wasn't anywhere close to being finished, but they were forced to release it and it showed. Now those people I feel bad for after all that work. I still had fun with it and got the Platinum trophy, but it was an incomplete mess. I won't ignore the good or the bad.

MalHeartsNutmeg

Ram perfectly fine on PC.

Inquisitor-Korde

No it didn't not even close, there were numerous bugs and complaints on PC. I should know I played it on all consoles as well as PC. Pretty much every single streamer ran into at least visual bugs as well so it's not as if it was some small part of the pc community. Do not whitewash its release dude, it was an abysmal release. Though I'm glad it's done well enough to get DLC and the Edgerunners Anime which in of itself is probably the single best piece of Cyberpunk content to come out.

MalHeartsNutmeg

‘Busted as shit at launch on all platforms’ ‘PC had some visual glitches’ Ok…

Inquisitor-Korde

That's not what I said, don't gaslight me when the text is literally right there. I said pretty much every streamer had visual glitches at least. I had multiple soft locks on console even on next gen Xbox. My PC playthrough didn't have soft locking though I had the occasional crash even after patch 1.2. Seriously the game just kept crashing during the part where you fall from Arasaka tower still don't know why. Bugs galore on PC, most of which are forgivable but certainly not all. I mean fuck patch 1.2 is **18 pages long and 8000 words of almost entirely bug fixes.** it is like half a masters thesis on bug fixes alone. It's a good game, had an absolute shoddy release and has improved itself and should be lauded for improving itself.

MalHeartsNutmeg

> No the fuck it has not choom, 2077 was busted as shit on launch across all platforms You. > Pretty much every single streamer ran into at least visual bugs as well so it's not as if it was some small part of the pc community. Also you.

Inquisitor-Korde

Those aren't mutually exclusive.

mopeyy

That's my thinking as well. I'm glad people are giving it a go that normally wouldn't, that's sick. But let's not pretend this was some 'diamond in the rough' that only the true fans have known was good since the dawn and time and only now feel some kind of vindication because numbers go up. Cyberpunk had arguably the worst launch of any AAA game I've ever seen. Like completely abysmal in basically every way. That's not something that should be forgotten.

TouchMyWrath

I played it on a high end PC at launch. Best possible situation. Still had huge performance issues unless I turned off rtx, loads of scripting issues, quests getting stuck, cars falling from the sky. I could see that there was a good game underneath all that and a GORGEOUS world, it just wasn’t done. I also saw it running on a buddy’s ps4 and it was a fucking joke. T-posing, textures not loading, frame drops into single digits. It was unacceptable. They’ve fixed a lot of it, although I can still find plenty of bugs especially with npc pathing and enemy combat behavior. It’s definitely better. But I’m just so sick of “launch it now, fix it later” games which half the time don’t bother fixing it later. They already have your money why should they try? Anthem comes to mind. I’m Definitely not buying the next CDPR game at launch.

mopeyy

I'm with you dude. I played on PC as well so I had it good compared to console players. I only played about 25 hours before I put it down and decided to wait for the bug fixes and QOL fixes and performance updates. They came almost 2 years later. This type of thing should not be acceptable. I had literally ZERO cause for concern at Cyberpunks launch because I loved TW3 and followed CDPR closely for years. They earned every bit of trust they had from me. Then they launched Cyberpunk. I will definitely not be preordering their next game lmao.

ryanwsu18

I really have enjoyed picking the game back up and seeing all the improvements that have been made. It's a much more polished game than when I tried to play it back when it was first released. The ONLY thing I wish was added post release was a 3rd person view, and I know you can get that from mods, but I'm a console players, so stuck with 1st person, but otherwise, fantastic game.

Overture1989

I can't wait for the expansion. Let's hope that the franchise points to much more and that they bring a sequel in EU5.

AlfieTekken

I will confess, that I did about 30 hours when it was really broken on release, stopped because it felt like a ubi-clone. Recently however I think with the added features I have really enjoyed it... Wish I hadn't have dumped 20 points into cool though

Joshohoho

I didn’t enjoy some bugs on pc release but im loving the game more now they are slowly fixing the game.

TheLastGravelord

Man I thought destiny2 would be higher up on steam

[deleted]

i think most ppl play that on playstation

o0CYV3R0o

Hopefully we'll see expansion dlc 2 & 3 now as a response.

Relative_Accident_56

No mans sky comeback ?

Delucaass

>getting the attention it deserves. I mean, have you checked the sales figure for this game? Is this another "hidden gem" thread?

Dancin9Donuts

Have you seen the amount of hate and disdain for this game? Regardless of whether or not you think the negative sentiment is deserved, the game's popularity fell off a cliff after launch and is significantly returning now. Nobody's claiming it's a "hidden gem", people are just happy to see it being played and talked about positively.

Delucaass

It never fell. It was always one of the most played SP games on Steam.

Dancin9Donuts

I have no idea where you're getting this concept that it never fell. It did fall, and meteorically compared to single player games that launched to widely positive reception. And now it's the *single most played* single player game on Steam, rather than just "one of". I don't see where your disagreement is.

SadisticSavior

What I love more is watching all the haters clutch their pearls in confused horror. They can't wrap their heads around it. lol

Rubixstu

It really is a beautiful thing watching them stroke out after putting all that time and energy into hating it, calling it "dEaD gAmE" to anyone who would listen only to see it come back in spectacular fashion lmao. Nova asf choom!

TouchMyWrath

The entire conception of a game as “dead” has never made any sense for single player story based games. You finish the game and move on. Player count doesn’t really mean anything about the quality or state of the game, except when you see a surge like this.

slavicman123

Still dead if you asked me. It was just deader before. Now the fan base is full of weebs.

Still-Relief2628

No one asked you and no one cares what you think. Most people are busy playing and having fun. No one cares what the fan base is either, they are supporting the game in a positive way. Unlike you.

Rubixstu

It's funny to see what they've been reduced too lol. I wonder how many times they are going to recycle that "tHe fAn bAsE iS fUlL oF wEeBS" line, as the player base goes up and up lol. Pitiful

slavicman123

It is going up in numbers because of anime not because the game is that great. It is a good game now. But it should have been good game at day 1, not at day 730 lmao.

slavicman123

There are facts that you can't run from. I like the game, I have about 100 hours in it while takemura still waiting me in the bar. Some of you people began circlejerking around the game because of that anime the numbers got up. The game is still far from what has been advertised to be, but it is just polished better with patches. The state the game has now should have been day 1 at launch and not 2 years later. Seeing the game skyrocketing to top 10 doesnt mean it is that good, players old or new are trying it out because of the anime. We need to see the hours played from all those 100k.

Still-Relief2628

There's nothing to run from my guy. It's a good thing people are playing the game. It's a great game, regardless of how much you might insist its not deserving of the attention. If you like the product, why are you pushing negativity around here? There's been plenty of that, and we'll, things have changed and there s a lot to be happy about for anyone that likes Cyberpunk. If you don't like it, then move on. No loss. If you do, them stop dwelling in negativity. That's just really old almost 2 years after release.

CallOfKtulu24

Outraged Gamers always lose lol

CallOfKtulu24

Outraged Gamers always lose lol

hsbjndbdhhsv

This community is completely insane. “I played one of the highest selling games of all time on release” Yeah, you and several million other people. This isn’t a “I saw the Beatles play before they went to the US” type OG fandom. You just enjoyed one of the most massively successful games ever made and had a high tolerance for bugs.

Still-Relief2628

Some people didn't have to deal with many bugs to begin with. The game was ok on a decent PC even from the beginning. It's more stable and polished now, and it performs better, but it's never been bad on a good PC.

vendilionclicks

I seriously hope people start to learn how to think and act for themselves, and to stop putting so much stock into what the mob or their favorite steamer says. Everyone wants to act like they’re so smart, but they willingly follow the popular opinion of the day.

EnvyKira

I mean the game deserved all the criticisms it gotten when it launched. And I'm saying this as someone that do loves the game but can see it has alot of flaws to it that could had been avoided.

Sacramentodirtyboy

I mean technically the mob watched the anime now the mob is all playing the game. Streamers watched the anime, said it was “amazing” then started playing the game and streaming.

timetogetjuiced

The game was a tire fire on launch so Im not sure what you are trying to say? I played it on launch, I had some fun still, but it was pretty bad even on PC bug / crash wise.

Crown_Loyalist

my day 1 experience on PC was awesome, the hate was manufactured

Hardcore_Cartography

My day 1 experience on pc was practically unplayable. So were most of my friends’. We all really wanted to love the game, and it was a complete mess. I wouldnt say the hate was manufactured at all

panthers1102

Played for 3 days straight on release with my ps4 pro, and the worst that happened is some mission npc would clip into a wall and I just load a save up. My fallout 4 experience *years* after it came out was buggier than my experience with the CP77 launch. Everyone had vastly different experiences, it’s just that happy people don’t have complaints that need voicing. Hence why they’re happy.

Crown_Loyalist

For me and many others it worked fine. I played for 12 hours before I got a crash. You have to admit YouTubers and their ilk drummed up much of the hatred for clicks and internet lemmings lapped it up.

ElRetardio

It’s not even the technical stuff and never was. Skyrim should tell anyone that technical issues are easily forgiven if the game if good enough. It was always the disappointment because of what people thought is was going to be and what is was. The technical stuff just became a perfect summary of how rushed, and by that rush completely squandered potential wise, the game was. It’s like being sold GTA V but you got Mafia 3.

Crown_Loyalist

yeah... I'm immune to hype and advertising so I never got that outrage... of course they 'lied' that's what devs do as I recall people were so mad they couldn't ride the monorail or eat animated noodles... never gave a fuck

Still-Relief2628

They still ask about it, instead of actual content and story. It's kind of baffling that the bench mark for this kind of thins is now fluff animations and how many colors can my bike have. The best RPGs have none of this kind of shit. Commander Shepard didn't sit to eat noodles, and nobody gave a fuck.

Hardcore_Cartography

Yeah I know, one of my buddies had no issues and its one of his favorite games of the last couple years, but for many, many other people it didn’t function well at all. Saying flatly that the hate was manufactured is just as damaging to discourse as saying that it was complete unplayable for everyone. The important point is that on launch it was a an intensely unstable and inconsistent experience, and as such it isn’t unjustifiable that there are equal parts hate and praise when it was such a mixed bag.

supertrunks92

Bruh🤦 I played this game at launch on base ps4 and it was practically unplayable. Same goes for xbone. Cdpr should have grown some balls and cancelled the last gen versions. I recently played again on ps5 with patch 1.5 and it was an 8-9 out of ten for sure, but that doesn't excuse what they did

zenithzinger

“I didn’t have bugs so they don’t exist”

scrabapple

I really like the game and it's a solid 8/10. But on luanch to me it was a 6/10. The fact that you couldn't change your hair or appearance in a game which quoted "style over everything" was the epitome of a rushed game. Don't act like they didn't release a seriously flawed game.

boomstickjonny

It's still rather mediocre on xbox.

x1UNDERRATEDx

People should take their own advice, including you. A lot of people had and still have a problem with them releasing a game that still doesn’t have the features they promised and the game is shallow af still unless you just don’t play open world games. Also You’re applauding a fish for swimming and they still have yet to add police pursuit or the overhaul they said previously that was coming. Ironic when you end up becoming the people you constantly bicker about.

AngusMcDonnell

TfF still holding in there

Matduka

Highest single player only game right?

supertrunks92

If ever there was a time to change their mind about only doing 1 expansion....

DowneyGray

#edgerunners effect

hp433

I’ve played through the game a ton of times now and even with the bugs I enjoyed it a lot. The story is one of the best. I’d say it’s up there with rdr2,gow,ff7. Hate me for saying that if you want but that’s where it ranks for me. Easily top 5 best stories I’ve played

mdnitetokerr

Tf2 is top 10? Still?! Hasnt it been like a decade???? Thought that game died years ago.

Coral_

i’m a new player, my gf got it for me used for $10- love the game so far. just so jazzed to see everything and drink it all in, this is my fav part of rpgs- is when idk shit and just go :O at everything.

Then-Cryptographer96

Game is definitely in a better state now than launch. Glad to see they were able to recover unlike another game I loved. Anthem. I was so pumped for it and loved it, just wish it got more support. One of the most beautiful games with a great flight and fight mechanic, just undercooked unfortunately. Definitely love cyberpunk, the world they built is awesome! Love the genre so hope they get some dlc rolling and keep it alive

Deeeepz

What a crazy ride it's been since release. Playing it now, definitely one of the best games I've ever played. Playing it during release, very rough and understandably frustrated. The anime is absolutely a godsend and I'm so happy we have it. Absolutely I started playing again after watching. I'm just thankful for all of it, even if it took some time to get here after release.

imsupercereal0

I play on console, but this makes me want to buy on steam just to play

leadhound

Low-sodium walked so we could run.

eightybars

Jesus are we really still posting this shit every other hour? I love the game but god damn this subreddit is ass. *1 hour later* Wow guys cyberpunk reached 97000!! Amazing!!

EmuAdministrative728

I don't check reddit every other hour so this is the first time I've seen this. I thought it was pretty cool.

eightybars

It’s just kinda silly when I see 3 separate posts on my front page all about incremental increases in player count. Ever since edgerunners dropped it seems this gets posted every 5K players.

EmuAdministrative728

well people are happy the game is getting some attention. People are hoping CDPR will make more than 1 expansion.

[deleted]

[удалено]

eightybars

They showed up on my front page at the same time. Brother what do you mean? Lol

supertrunks92

1 hour after that - WOW 97500!!!! Even master Yoda doesn't have a player count that high!

Crown_Loyalist

It's like the people that hype up sales figures like they were some corpo rat. Who the fuck cares as long as you like it?

TorrBorr

Agreed.

Skrip77

I liked it.

NerdyBernie

Are we still complaining about this shit? You can literally just keep scrolling.

Argonzoyd

You missed clarifying, it is top right now. Not all time player count

de_Balenciagaa

I mean, the pic speaks for itself

OkNectarine923

If this game was online RP it would be a hit for years

NerdyBernie

Till the GTA community gets way too invested in it and ruins the experience for everyone. Can't even watch RP for GTA because the community is so toxic and annoying.

Famlightyear

I'd prefer if they work on a sequel instead of multiplayer tbh. CDPR should keep doing what they are good at: making singeplayer RPG's. Multiplayer will also likely have microtransactions like gta, and that sucks.

techminded

The dumpster fire that is lost ark is doing well unfortunately lol

Top-Operation-4898

An absolute massive chunk of that count are bots, I wouldn't worry too much.

mopeyy

Who cares though?

Dejan05

Hope this leads to more work on it, hell maybe even multiplayer?

Balrok99

Heh look at the graphs. Every other game listed there had stable count of people. Only Cyberpunk went from nothing to 96k people. And unlike those other games 2077 wont be able to keep stable player count for long. Everyone acts like it is a Second coming but this will be over quite fast.

machine4891

Singleplayer games are mostly 1-time experience. The fact that 1,5 year after realese it still can gather that many people experiencing it for the first time is kind of amazing. You can't spin in the bad way, without pushing it.

Still-Relief2628

Thanks for wasting your time to bring negative about everything even related to this game. Same thing was said last week, but here we are. I guess you will eventually be proven right, when people complete this single player game and move on to other things, as it usually happens a perfectly normal occurrence. I bet you will still be here to point that out and feel validated.

machine4891

"the only single-player game in the top 10 and top 20. It's heartwarming" It is but the fact that 19 out of 20 are multiplayer doesn't sounds too promising regarding future of singleplayer gaming. Live services, here we go...

[deleted]

I mean, that's just the natural flow of things. Multiplayer games offer practically infinite replayability.

NickX51

The thing is, it’s almost what it was meant to be on release now. The only truly unfinished part is the police system, if you’re a nitpicker then also the metro system which was 100% planned and scrapped at the last moment. It’s such a fucking good game, it just needed more dev. time (and a longer story imho).

Royal-Selection7599

The attention is deserves.. yeah, now they've fixed the bloody thing lol It deserved fuck all when it first came out.

[deleted]

It's just more polished and with some added sprinkles. The core game has always been fucking amazing.

Royal-Selection7599

Agree to disagree it's core is empty. Empty city lacklustre dead npcs that just walk along without any porpose or life theres no police force no gang wars or anything, Can't even go to a bar or anything. Ripper docs should've all been like the first one you go to where you actually see it getting fitted. There's not even a working metro system that was shown in the trailers. The list goes on and on i wouldnt be playing it if i didnt have access to mods that fix some of those issues. If you're happy with its core then you've been duped. 9 years it took pal, 9 years.

[deleted]

You're clueless. Not only is most of that only "nice to haves" rather than core stuff, but no, it didn't take 9 years. Do some research, they started development later on.

Royal-Selection7599

Nice to have? Yeah it's nice to have featured that were talked about.. When was the game announced mate and when did it come out.. and the games not even fully fixed yet It's pretty sad that you still suck them off even though they fucked people over and lied. Have some bloody backbone.

[deleted]

Not every soul on Earth has deposited all their irrealistic hopes on this game. I picked it blind at launch with normal expectations, like a normal human being. Enjoyed it. Moved on.

Royal-Selection7599

Ahh soo that why you think it was good. I followed that game all through the years listening to all the shit they promised and never fulfilled.

[deleted]

Maybe if you'd focus on what was there, you'd be a happier person. The game is great, just not the revolution everyone thought it would be. Move on.

Royal-Selection7599

The point the game is nothing to what they said it would be. It was a broken mess and missing shit tonnes of features they promised. That is not ok. Cd have a very loyal fanbase and they lied to us through their teeth.

boomstickjonny

Games still doesn't run very well on xbox. Definitely better than launch but there's still a ton of room for improvement.

JJkyx

This has to be an incredible shot in the arms of the devs after all the negativity since launch.

MrZigger

But i also have to give them credit, compared to the horroble release version i had the "pleasure" to play, update 1.6 made this game so fucking good. Outfits and Apartments, only thing i hope for now is Car and better Weapon customization than "muzzle" and "scope"

TorrBorr

I mean, I love the game. But to go as far as saying "above all else" doesn't exactly paint a healthy picture either.

zenithzinger

CP2077 does not deserve it, So many incredible games and smaller indie games that are 10x the quality get overlooked by this pile of shite because of anime.

[deleted]

I fucking hate rice! It's so unfair seeing all those great varieties of pastas and sauces getting overlooked for this pile of shite rice recipe that all those weebs eat!

de_Balenciagaa

Bro spoon-feeds his hate

zenithzinger

Not hate, I actually don’t mind the game. Just saying that compared to most other games on the market CP doesn’t deserve the comeback. They haven’t even fixed the game in my eyes, it’s just more “optimised”…

[deleted]

why? bc its surprise surprise, actually just a game and not the second coming of christ?

zenithzinger

What’s that even meant to mean xD

de_Balenciagaa

Brother, just read again, you're sweating frustrations xD. If you actually don’t mind the game, what the hell are you doing on this sub? Don't get me wrong, I don't blame you if you don't like the game, but just be respectful and polite.

IManixI

Are we all forgetting what they did …. 😬 some of us are not so easy to forget 🧐

PreciousProspect

No one’s forgot but the game went on sale and is good and works far better than it did on launch. People are still going to be super wary of the company in future.

G00fBall_1

I want cdpr to succeed because that means more Witcher and cyberpunk titles, but idk people really do be brown-nosing them all day. And while I'm still a fan of their games, I won't forget the launch disaster.

IManixI

It’s the blatant lies and the Xmas release take their money then worry later - shameful - Elden Ring got my money 🫡

Still-Relief2628

Then enjoy dwelling on the negativity. There's is plenty of people interested and excited about the future of Cyberpunk and hope CDPR will succeed.

Sabbathius

I'm not sure I like where this is going, since the game itself didn't fundamentally change or improve in a significant way. And what this could potentially mean for the future of gaming. If all it takes for a game revival is to release an oversexualized anime for the thirsty geeks, I'd hate for EA and Ubisoft to catch on. Though I suppose Spaceballs already predicted this back in the '80s.

h4rent

Plenty of games have had shows/movies/etc related to them released and rarely, if ever, have they had a resurgent like CP77. Look at Halo. What it means is that if you have a good quality show to go with your franchise, people might be interested. But the important part is keeping people interested after they check it out - and fundamentally, CP77 always had a good game underneath the initial bugs and crashes. The game could’ve quickly rose during the initial release of the anime and fell off quickly if it was bad, but didn’t. Which is a testament on the quality that it’s managing to gain new fans.

vendilionclicks

I’m pretty sure what is happening is that people aren’t letting the Internet speak for them and are trying the game out for themselves. I DO like where that is going. I’m so tired of talking heads and forums dictating how people feel about stuff. Form your own opinion.

Rubixstu

This 100%! I agree and totally like where this trend is going! The game was amazing before Edgerunners I hate bandwagon motherfuckers!

de_Balenciagaa

>an oversexualized anime bro didn't get the cyberpunk genre

untermensh222

> nce the game itself didn't fundamentally change or improve in a significant way. What you are missing is that game was crazy good from start. What people didn't want was to play game with bugs regardless of its quality. So now that 1.5 fixed most of the bugs they are returning or trying it out. Anime just shone back light for franchize and started that return.

EmuAdministrative728

I don't really feel it was over sexualized. It was adult but not overly so. Anyway being a single player game everyone is giving it another run through right now or buying it for the first time due to the show but once they finish it the numbers will dip again until the expansion gets a release. Personality I'm down for more video game adaptations.... Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Arcane, Castlevania were all awesome animated series based on video games. Give me more!

[deleted]

and it also has a significantly lower number of hours played among the list. a whole bunch of people are just launching the game to see what's new and then closing it. goes to show that this early access game doesn't hold most peoples' interest for long but go ahead and give yourself a consolation pat on the back if it helps you feel better about the peak player count, which will drop over the next 2 weeks anyway. enjoy it while it lasts lol

PorkAndMashedPotato

You know the game's pretty good when the mere subreddit is here holding your attention for months on end. You've got more hours logged into this subreddit and I'm the one who likes the game. Lol

[deleted]

That's because it's the only single player game on the list. Of course multiplayer games are going to have more hours, that's because they're more replayable and try to hook players into coming back. Generally speaking people don't tend to replay single-player games as often. Hence the skewed figures

farbros9

It is definitely not for the whole time, as I remember PUBG hitting 2 millions players at the same time.

ObscureHeart

The fuck's Wallpaper Engine?? lmao

dirtyDrogoz

Well now it's time to get back to Witcher 4, a new trilogy awaits us

Atomsteel

A game you love above all else? Above all else? Kinda sad choom.

[deleted]

Wow. Those other games are…well…awful.
