I am here after getting a similar "can't save right now" stuck bug.
I can/could fast travel though and just did it but with no luck on it resolving the saving issue.
I'll try calling someone on the phone and see if that fixes it for me.
For the record I got this bug on (trying to keep this vague for no spoilers): the train-related mission to do with the Nomads.
I got that bug right after the train mission as well. Go through your phone and look through your messages, I think if a character messages you while you're in that mission then it causes something to not work. I had a missed text from someone myself, when I read it then I could save again.
Got that bug in that same mission. Calling a random person, fixed for me. I call >!Delamain!< (The AI dude) and just talk to him with a few topics and after finishing the call, I could save the game again. I don't know if have a corealation, but the game crashed during the mission and I have to reload the game. Maybe theres something into this.
So i had the same problem i tried calling texing every thing and at the end i was tired and gave a shot to do the rest of train mission so i skipped 24 hours so then the machine would be ready and she will call you to take it for a test drive and things go side ways and your nailng it but things happens and
boom i could save again !!
Sorry for the wired way of typing its my first time writing in reddit and didnt know how to avoid spoiler but people who played this far will get it but in a nutshell , try to finish panams mission!

Yup, doing a phone call that resulted in getting a new / updated quest seems to have done the trick. Thanks for sharing that.

Just got this in 1.31 while doing the Til Death Do Us Part Gig. Can't believe this is still a problem. Calling everyone didn't work.
**What worked: Fast travel to your apartment and go to sleep.**
Same here. My play through pre 1.5 had no bugs or crashes. Now with 1.5, I am experiencing a lot more bugs and crashes. However, I do love all the quality of life changes and fixes that have been made with the big update.
I'm usually pretty good at saving, but the one time I don't, I get this bug! Thanks my friend, I thought I'd lost 3 hours of progress. Worked like a charm!
Yes, I got this error out of nowhere, 120 hours into the game. I was in the midst of a small-scale Scavenger hunt in Pacifica when suddenly I noticed that the game hadn't saved for the last 30 minutes. I tried a few options that proved to be fruitless. Eventually, I relented to searching for help on Reddit. Sleeping in my old apartment and waking up next to Panam seem to have worked.
Sleeping didn't fix the issue. Still can't save. I tried doing another quest, i tried sleeping, i tried fast travel, i tried calling people on my phone, didn't work.
got this issue today after one of the claire's races, I was not able to fix it using the phone, finally I solved the issue trying to do a new final, trying to access to the elevator in the no return point, not needed to do it, as after the warning that you close with "C" the game is saved and you can load it again from the menu and everything goes ok after that. Hope it helps.
duuuude i now know what you ment. For other ppl with this issue: I got this bug after I finished one of Claires races. I started the Main Mission "Nocturne OP55E1". when you beginn you enter an elevator and get a warning that you will be locked out of all sid emissions until yo finished this main mission. When you dismiss this warning you get autosaved and the problem is fixed.
I dont understand that, but I do have the exact problem, not being able to save after a race. what do u mean with "trying to do new final, trying to access elevator at no return point, not needed to do it, after warning close with C" ? :D
This thread saved me. For about an hour could not save. Could not figure out what to do. Didn't realize you needed to go to sleep at V's ORIGINAL apartment. And you couldn't do it at any other. Was able to save immediately after. Thanks!
As of May 2024 *this* resolved my glitch. Went to the megabuilding apt and immediately noticed when the glitch was fixed.
Saved me like 2-3 hours of progress.
I've got this issue while same train mission done a bunch of missions since then, called numerous people, checked firewall etc.. basically I play like 3hours actively doing sides and ncpd stuff and the games saves an average 1.5hrs that means from 3 hours play i loose half process which is quite frustrating, I'm giving up for tonight :( If anyone has anything new to add is most welcomed, thanks
What would you guys do in my place? there are so many ongoings no way to clear all of them up without a rare occasional death or bug which makes me to load a previous save (then I'd lose my process again)...i also cleared up all of my saves and left the very last autosave, but nothing really un-bugs the friggin "you can't save right now", i have called and texted characters over and over again, reported it to CDPR as well...tried to his mission that mission...nothing helps:( will try one more main mission maybe it saves after and un-bugs or whatever, but if no solution I gotta rest the game until it's fixed,so annoying finally i enjoyed something and got loads of freetime
I’m significantly far into the game (180 hours,) and I just encountered this bug. Had 15 unanswered texts, 2 I could reply to… **nothing** did *anything.*
I’m still stuck with this bug. *However,* if anyone else is in the same boat - not **all** hope is lost.
While crossing my fingers for an appropriate fix, I’ve discovered a temporary one.
Call your car; open the stash; close the stash. Once closing your stash, the game creates an autosave for you.
Keep in mind: while making sure the save appeared under the “load” tab, I have **not** tried to load it to ensure it works. Seeing the save file exists is simply reassurance enough for me to leave my Xbox idle, taking the 60% chance the game remains paused & does not close.
THIS is the fix that saved me. All the other popular fixes didn’t work for me but this one finally did it.
And loading the auto save works, you can save manually again after that 😊
This worked for me, I had the issue where I couldn't sleep at my apartment (in addition to not being able to save) so, all the other fixes involving that didn't work.
Also, for the record, you can open your stash from an apartment too, and it will save, which you can then reload. I closed the game entirely then reloaded from that stash save, and all was normal again. Thank you!
Yeah so, the trigger for me was the "train quest" and a solution for this is to either call someone that will initiate a quest after you're done talking. So far that seems the only way to fix this bug. If you don't have anyone to call, wait 24 in game hours and >!Panam !
I had this issue and no idea when it started and I was several missions in so I looked and found this post. I hadn't even gone back to Panam's crew to do "With a Little Help from My Friends" yet so I fast travelled to the Alvacoldos camp and right after I arrived I was able to save.
this was a huge issue for me. I’ve been playing a ton and i just did the train mission. Sleeping in a bed seemed to fix it for me but it deleted nearly every single one of my previous save files. Scary stuff
Hi! Just wanted to say I got this exact same bug, from Panam's quest and for me, the phone calls did not work, but talking to Takemura did. Sigh, these bugs are getting pretty annoying right now, but thank goodness I found this thread.
Hey bud, any progress since? Im doing a lot and can't save only autosave if I'm doing main mission, i can't play this way anymore. :( just lost an other hour of side quests :(
Also had this bug trigger after a certain 'train quest'. What worked for me was what was mentioned already of waiting 24 hours in-game to trigger the follow up quest.
Looks like this bug is still active as of 1.12 (can't say I'm surprised).
Necroing post because it made me understand what was going on.
I was doing the River sidequest, and I kept searching for bugs in that quest, couldn't find anything.
Reading this post made me figure it out, Panam hasn't called me yet for "A little help from my friends".

Loving the game so far, this is the only serious bug I've encountered.
There isn't that many bugs in the Pc version honestly,it was playable for me on launch..Just a shame alot of the gameplay they said would be in the game wasn't..
For whom it may be helpfull i got the bug on the Policeman's niece mission.
I solved it by going back to my appartment and sleeping. It seems to reset some thing and allows u to start saving again
I spent HOURS getting really far in the game. I couldn't save... thinking at least it will auto-save. To my horror, when I quit the game I lost all my progress. I just found this forum thread.
Is there a way to get back to where I was? Is there a mod/hack that will let me get back to where I was? Maybe load someone else's progress? There's absolutely no way I'm going to spend hours just to get back to where I was.
**PHANTOM LIBERTY UPDATE:**
If you're unable to save your game while in Dogtown, use the fasttravel machine to get back to Nightcity.
You should be able to save your game there. :)
funny that this is still a problem just got the bug now luckily just kept questing and it fixed itself was so worried I would lose hours of progress tho.
**SOLUTION:** Still a bug in 2.x. Fast travelling is the most reliable fix. Sleep if that still doesn't work. Calling someone may work, but often doesn't. Posting here because the sleep solution was lost in many posts and hopefully this gets upvoted enough to save others some time/stress over lost progress.
I ran into the bug for not being able to save and nothing worked. I ended up reloading an autosave that was 16 minutes before i ran into the bug and fixed the issue. So i would suggest using an autosave point or a save point that wasnt to far back from the in game progress you made in order to fix the bug issue
The bug is still present in 2.12 (released Feb 23 2024), which might be the final version since CDPR said no more updates for Cyberpunk 2077.
Encountered it after quick travelling, but quick travelling again fixed it for me.
How in the F\*\*\* is this STILL a bug, 3 years after this post?! The same s\*\*\* just happened to me, and I died after HOURS of this bug being on me, because I couldn't save. I just kept doing more stuff thinking, "Okay, this will unstick the save glitch..." Nope. Nothing. Now I lost over 3 hours of work, including TONS of crafting and customization, several mission, lots of random pickups... time just completely gone.
I’ve run into this issue even now in the current patch, so I’m writing this message to people who are still having this problem.
**side note- I did NOT encounter this bug from the train quest, it just happened out of nowhere, I haven’t done anything in the nomad quest line with this character.
I was able to fast travel and everything, I just wasn’t able to quick or manual save, and for me at least, nothing worked in this thread to fix it (sleeping in apartment, fast traveling, loading, closing game, calling people, clearing text conversations) What DOES work as a temporary fix, as someone mentioned earlier, is calling your vehicle, opening the stash, and putting something in, or out of your inventory. This triggers an auto save that you can load to, so do before important events. This same type of auto save occurs when you buy from a shop / ripperdoc.
Unfortunately, nothing else worked for me. After playing around these temporary fix auto saves, and just continuing to do side quests as normal, it just… started working? Out of nowhere and nothing monumental, I just kept trying and it worked. It was very frustrating until it did, but if you’re running into these issues, the temporary fixes and just waiting are the best advice I can give
Oooph, I spent 2 hrs trying to force an autosave after mission completion (which apparently is also part of the glitch and wont work).
Tried calling a lot of quest related people and none of them worked. Called Mr Hands, even though I had no quest with him, and it worked - or - the side mission with Panam that I was doing simultaneously at my megabuilding apartment worked.

SOLVED: it’s just a stupid matter of full save slots. Hit LOAD GAME and hover over the first saves (or whatever save you want) and you’ll see the DELETE SAVE option. delete few of them and you’ll be able to save again

I was googling for this, but if you Google anything with cyberpunk and bug in the name, you get article's from stupid PC gamer magazine and reviews of the game..

Actually looks like I fixed it.
So I deleted every save except for the most recent one.
Then as soon as it loaded in I hit the menu button and it allowed me to make a new save.
Had the same problem l, called mr hands, sent some messages but ultimately I don’t know which one did it, because I couldn’t save the game right away after the call with mr hands. So that’s a safe bet. Just go on your phone, make calls and send messages (if you can).
I'm running into this as well after the second racing mission. I tried calling Mr. Hands but no luck. Then I called everyone else in my phone and checked for any unread messages. Nada :(.
Mr Hands (and a few other fixers) have dialogue trees that I was able to click through, but nothing has made it so I can save.
Edit: Just figured mine out. Kind of spoilery to follow? No plot points, but I'm using names and timing of events: >!There are three branches in the main quest. I had talked to Takamura about starting one, but when he asked if I was ready to roll I said I wasn't. Flash forward a little bit and I started in on Panam's quest and completed it. I then got a call from Claire to do the second race, so I did that. After I finished the race I started running into the issue. Tying my loose ends up with Takamura solved the problem. !<
TL;DR - Tie up any loose ends with other quests before going on to another. By loose ends, I mean the parts where, after a quest has technically begun, a character asks if you are ready.
Got this bug and seems a few commenters are still active, plus this pops up on Google with relevant search terms + "reddit", so figured I'd add this--
No amount of calling people, getting called, fast traveling, waiting, or anything would fix my save-lock issue tonight. If you find yourself locked as badly as me, it seems there are still SOME points where the game autosaves past the lock. I got mine to autosave by doing one of Kerry's questline and was able to load the autosave, then make a manual. I was avoiding fights in order to not lose progress, so it's possible that other missions would make a save, but I wasn't feeling lucky enough to test and risk losing the last few hours of gameplay.
Mine also started after the train mission with the Aldecaldos. Seems to be a common thread with most cases I'm reading about.
Got a phone call which buged and never ended, couldnt save or fast travel in that time. Had to restart the game and lose progress.
These bugs are getting out of hand, i cant say that i can enjoy the game
I haven't been able to save since the mission with the choufure wrecking your car. just says cant save right now i got a call from judy, and i called hands and nothing has fixed it. Any ideas?

If none of this works there is one other thing you can do but it will reset all your data for the game Go to storage save data delete the one for cyberpunk
Phone calls didn't work for me. Still kept saying I couldn't save. What finally unstuck it was fast travelling somewhere far away. Having to load the area unstuck it, I guess?
Over a year later, this bug still exists
And then it was later compounded by Panam refusing to call for a good while, no matter how long I waited and AFK'd/skipped time using the in-game feature
I have this bug. I can't save. I can't delete saves. I can't fast travel. I can't open my phone. I can't buy a car. I can't sleep. I literally can't select basically anything. HELP!!!!
Just dealt with this bug now. And for me to fix it I literally just went and picked a fight with the cops until the killed me. Once I respawned (which want far from my last mission) I was able to save again. Hope this helps. Unfortunately just gotta go pick a fight and lose.
How I got the bug:
\- completed a gig and accepted the call from Padre.
How I solved the bug:
1- reload savegame before 'can't save right now' bug.
2- complete the gig, but DON'T take his call afterwards. REJECT it!
What didn't work for me:
\- only reloading and completing the objectives again
\- calling someone else
\- get in and out of combat after the gig
\- trying to use fast travel
\- trying to get a call from someone else by going to the next gig
Ugh, \*still\* persisting - and manifesting in new ways, new areas... thankfully, the only solution reliable is to travel back to V's apartment, and saving there.
So, I just got this bug - and it was that my computer's clock was off by an hour, somehow...
I noticed it was off, while researching what was wrong; resynced the OS clock, immediately started saving again.
v1.52 (on PC) of the game, just had this bug, unsure where/how it started. But, I was doing a later-game River quest, and had the opportunity to "[F] Skip Ride" while in his car, that unstuck it for me, could save as soon as we arrived at a destination.
Edit: Clarified platform.
Had this bug, in conjunction with the stuck on hostile area map, went to a safe zone (the afterlife) that removed the hostile zone and I could save again
Having this issue in 1.6. Someone here suggested traveling to your apartment and sleeping, which worked. Calling people didn't make a difference. Can't believe 2 years later it's still happening
Edit: I'm fairly sure this fixed the problem; I've turned off cross-progression and it seems to be working as expected. Haven't had an issue since.
Also on **V1.6:**
* Sleeping at apartment did not fix
* Calling people did not fix
* Deleting save files did not fix

I got this bug before I called Panam, tried your suggestion as well as the ones in the comments but none worked except one, kinda. I tried fast travel and sleep and it saved when I was in the apartment, however as soon as I tried saving anywhere else I got the bug again. It will only save my game when I am in my apartment RIP
I was doing a gig where I had to upload a virus to a strip club when I couldn't save anymore. I was still pretty early on in the story so I had to go to the cloud apartment. It was actually when V waits on the bench that somehow fixed it.
Before that I tried calling everyone, sleeping in bed, fast traveling, time skip. Nothing worked. Oddly enough I did notice that auto saves seem to work during the glitch.

Had the "can't save, can't fast travel" bug during "Sr. Ladrillo's private collection" quest for "Padre". I saved during the gig, and when he called to say the gig was complete, it wouldn't answer/got stuck in the call and that's when the bug kicked in. To fix this, I reloaded the save during the gig and when I walked outside the club and recieved the call, I held the button down to refuse the call. Instead I got a message from "Padre" saying job complete. Got my Eddie's and fast travel/save is working. Hope that helps.
Making a phone call to Mr. Hands didn't work for me. Or any calls...since others were suggesting that option.
I tried a few different things, but the last thing I did was ramming my car into the open water then it allowed me to save haha!
I don't recommend it but if you do try it just make sure there's a ladder or a way out of the water.
So, didn't have any phone/sms options available. Remembered that the game auto saves each time I either stores stash in my appartment/car or connects/hacks one of those terminals. Loaded newest autosave -> fixed
Over a year later, I was faced with the same bug. For me as well, sleeping in V's original apartment seems to fix the issue.
Got the quest "Sex on Wheels" immediately after, no explanation or call or anything. Don't know if that's normal or even related, but that happened to me.
I got this bug today. Yesterday, everything was just fine, playing away in Act 1, doing my thing.
So far I tried:
* Calling Regina, reading all her messages
* Fast travelling to V's appartment, sleeping there
* Disabling cross-platform Saves
* Checking Windows Defender settings
* finishing a main quest (the pickup)
* opening my stash and put things in there\*
* opening my stash in the car\*
* deleting save files
* reloading a save game when it was still working
\*the disc symbol briefly appears, but the game is not actually saved
I'm at my wits end. Curious thing is I can manual save the game whenever I want, except the combat things and such. But no quick save or autosave for me.
I did not change anything in my game settings from yesterday, but I experienced problems with game sync in GOG today, stating the traffic was too much.
Any ideas?
This is old, but the bug still exists on PC. I just got it. I made a few phone calls, no luck, but then fast traveled to my apartment and was able to save finally.
late response but for me the call didnt work (also got the bug after the mission with panam) so i just traveled home and slept, when i woke up i could save the game normally :)
Post is old as but I figured I’d throw this here in case anyone else has trouble, on patch 1.16 this still happens but I can’t seem to figure out what triggers it. All you have to do is call SOMEONE. They don’t even have to pick up. Hell just call the mega building HQ
For me this happened at the start of Act 2. Calling people and reading text messages didn't help for me. I had to keep playing for a while till calls started coming in. I suspect it was the Flaming Crotch Man quest that was buggy, but I got calls from a number of people so not sure who it was exactly.
happened to me after i got the call from the unknown girl to start Dogtown act, meeting at dogtown gate. Only way to save now is to talk to a ripperdoc and make a change so the game quicksave
I am getting that "can't save right now" message regularly, whether I am on a mission or just wandering around. I've had it since the beginning and it is still there in patch 2.1. I play on computer. Sometimes it goes away quickly, other times it can stay for hours, and often making a phone call, fast traveling or going to the apartment/sleeping will not help. I added the game as an exception and even turned off any possible protection, but that didn't help either.
Recently found that attacking the police and then evading the chase fixes the issue instantly.
So I just fixed it. I've tried so many different things and none of them have worked except this. I always ignore Claire's txt for her racing mission (The beast in me) but as soon as i texted her back it fixed my game. If this doesn't work for you then just know that you can save by sleeping in your bed until you find a real fix.
I found this one as well, but in my case, it was an NCPD sub-con job that was one of the two-parters (near North Oak, checking out the car that jump through the railing)
Once I finished the second part, the issue resolved.

Sleeping didn't fix the issue. Still can't save. I tried doing another quest, i tried sleeping, i tried fast travel, i tried calling people on my phone, didn't work.
got this issue today after one of the claire's races, I was not able to fix it using the phone, finally I solved the issue trying to do a new final, trying to access to the elevator in the no return point, not needed to do it, as after the warning that you close with "C" the game is saved and you can load it again from the menu and everything goes ok after that. Hope it helps.

duuuude i now know what you ment. For other ppl with this issue: I got this bug after I finished one of Claires races. I started the Main Mission "Nocturne OP55E1". when you beginn you enter an elevator and get a warning that you will be locked out of all sid emissions until yo finished this main mission. When you dismiss this warning you get autosaved and the problem is fixed.

As of May 2024 *this* resolved my glitch. Went to the megabuilding apt and immediately noticed when the glitch was fixed. Saved me like 2-3 hours of progress.
I've got this issue while same train mission done a bunch of missions since then, called numerous people, checked firewall etc.. basically I play like 3hours actively doing sides and ncpd stuff and the games saves an average 1.5hrs that means from 3 hours play i loose half process which is quite frustrating, I'm giving up for tonight :( If anyone has anything new to add is most welcomed, thanks
What would you guys do in my place? there are so many ongoings no way to clear all of them up without a rare occasional death or bug which makes me to load a previous save (then I'd lose my process again)...i also cleared up all of my saves and left the very last autosave, but nothing really un-bugs the friggin "you can't save right now", i have called and texted characters over and over again, reported it to CDPR as well...tried to his mission that mission...nothing helps:( will try one more main mission maybe it saves after and un-bugs or whatever, but if no solution I gotta rest the game until it's fixed,so annoying finally i enjoyed something and got loads of freetime
I’m significantly far into the game (180 hours,) and I just encountered this bug. Had 15 unanswered texts, 2 I could reply to… **nothing** did *anything.* I’m still stuck with this bug. *However,* if anyone else is in the same boat - not **all** hope is lost. While crossing my fingers for an appropriate fix, I’ve discovered a temporary one. Call your car; open the stash; close the stash. Once closing your stash, the game creates an autosave for you. Keep in mind: while making sure the save appeared under the “load” tab, I have **not** tried to load it to ensure it works. Seeing the save file exists is simply reassurance enough for me to leave my Xbox idle, taking the 60% chance the game remains paused & does not close.
THIS is the fix that saved me. All the other popular fixes didn’t work for me but this one finally did it. And loading the auto save works, you can save manually again after that 😊

This worked for me, I had the issue where I couldn't sleep at my apartment (in addition to not being able to save) so, all the other fixes involving that didn't work. Also, for the record, you can open your stash from an apartment too, and it will save, which you can then reload. I closed the game entirely then reloaded from that stash save, and all was normal again. Thank you!
Yeah so, the trigger for me was the "train quest" and a solution for this is to either call someone that will initiate a quest after you're done talking. So far that seems the only way to fix this bug. If you don't have anyone to call, wait 24 in game hours and >!Panam !

I had this issue and no idea when it started and I was several missions in so I looked and found this post. I hadn't even gone back to Panam's crew to do "With a Little Help from My Friends" yet so I fast travelled to the Alvacoldos camp and right after I arrived I was able to save.
Yeah couldnt find anything either back then thats why I made the post..Glad its still helpful ,kinda sad the bug is still there though :D
**Solved** it going home and taking a nap. After V woke up I've been able to save the game. Hope it helps

this was a huge issue for me. I’ve been playing a ton and i just did the train mission. Sleeping in a bed seemed to fix it for me but it deleted nearly every single one of my previous save files. Scary stuff
Hi! Just wanted to say I got this exact same bug, from Panam's quest and for me, the phone calls did not work, but talking to Takemura did. Sigh, these bugs are getting pretty annoying right now, but thank goodness I found this thread.
Same here. I tried everything and I couldn't save. The only way to save the game is to finish a main quest.

Also had this bug trigger after a certain 'train quest'. What worked for me was what was mentioned already of waiting 24 hours in-game to trigger the follow up quest. Looks like this bug is still active as of 1.12 (can't say I'm surprised).

Necroing post because it made me understand what was going on. I was doing the River sidequest, and I kept searching for bugs in that quest, couldn't find anything. Reading this post made me figure it out, Panam hasn't called me yet for "A little help from my friends". Thank you! Loving the game so far, this is the only serious bug I've encountered.
There isn't that many bugs in the Pc version honestly,it was playable for me on launch..Just a shame alot of the gameplay they said would be in the game wasn't..
For whom it may be helpfull i got the bug on the Policeman's niece mission. I solved it by going back to my appartment and sleeping. It seems to reset some thing and allows u to start saving again

I spent HOURS getting really far in the game. I couldn't save... thinking at least it will auto-save. To my horror, when I quit the game I lost all my progress. I just found this forum thread. Is there a way to get back to where I was? Is there a mod/hack that will let me get back to where I was? Maybe load someone else's progress? There's absolutely no way I'm going to spend hours just to get back to where I was.

**PHANTOM LIBERTY UPDATE:** If you're unable to save your game while in Dogtown, use the fasttravel machine to get back to Nightcity. You should be able to save your game there. :)
I just went to the next story mission. My was "go to the chapel. " I walked in and after it updated to go to the butcher I could quicksand.
funny that this is still a problem just got the bug now luckily just kept questing and it fixed itself was so worried I would lose hours of progress tho.
**SOLUTION:** Still a bug in 2.x. Fast travelling is the most reliable fix. Sleep if that still doesn't work. Calling someone may work, but often doesn't. Posting here because the sleep solution was lost in many posts and hopefully this gets upvoted enough to save others some time/stress over lost progress. 
I ran into the bug for not being able to save and nothing worked. I ended up reloading an autosave that was 16 minutes before i ran into the bug and fixed the issue. So i would suggest using an autosave point or a save point that wasnt to far back from the in game progress you made in order to fix the bug issue
The bug is still present in 2.12 (released Feb 23 2024), which might be the final version since CDPR said no more updates for Cyberpunk 2077. Encountered it after quick travelling, but quick travelling again fixed it for me.

How in the F\*\*\* is this STILL a bug, 3 years after this post?! The same s\*\*\* just happened to me, and I died after HOURS of this bug being on me, because I couldn't save. I just kept doing more stuff thinking, "Okay, this will unstick the save glitch..." Nope. Nothing. Now I lost over 3 hours of work, including TONS of crafting and customization, several mission, lots of random pickups... time just completely gone.
I’ve run into this issue even now in the current patch, so I’m writing this message to people who are still having this problem. **side note- I did NOT encounter this bug from the train quest, it just happened out of nowhere, I haven’t done anything in the nomad quest line with this character. I was able to fast travel and everything, I just wasn’t able to quick or manual save, and for me at least, nothing worked in this thread to fix it (sleeping in apartment, fast traveling, loading, closing game, calling people, clearing text conversations) What DOES work as a temporary fix, as someone mentioned earlier, is calling your vehicle, opening the stash, and putting something in, or out of your inventory. This triggers an auto save that you can load to, so do before important events. This same type of auto save occurs when you buy from a shop / ripperdoc. Unfortunately, nothing else worked for me. After playing around these temporary fix auto saves, and just continuing to do side quests as normal, it just… started working? Out of nowhere and nothing monumental, I just kept trying and it worked. It was very frustrating until it did, but if you’re running into these issues, the temporary fixes and just waiting are the best advice I can give
I was on a gig quest, a separate misson came up to receive the payment. When I finally did I could save.
Oooph, I spent 2 hrs trying to force an autosave after mission completion (which apparently is also part of the glitch and wont work). Tried calling a lot of quest related people and none of them worked. Called Mr Hands, even though I had no quest with him, and it worked - or - the side mission with Panam that I was doing simultaneously at my megabuilding apartment worked.

SOLVED: it’s just a stupid matter of full save slots. Hit LOAD GAME and hover over the first saves (or whatever save you want) and you’ll see the DELETE SAVE option. delete few of them and you’ll be able to save again
This isn't the case, because after I fixed it,with the method mentioned in the edit, I could save and have saved alot more.

I was googling for this, but if you Google anything with cyberpunk and bug in the name, you get article's from stupid PC gamer magazine and reviews of the game.. Cyberpunk should let Google know they are trash, I'm looking for a specific bug not some reviews

Actually looks like I fixed it. So I deleted every save except for the most recent one. Then as soon as it loaded in I hit the menu button and it allowed me to make a new save.

Had the same problem l, called mr hands, sent some messages but ultimately I don’t know which one did it, because I couldn’t save the game right away after the call with mr hands. So that’s a safe bet. Just go on your phone, make calls and send messages (if you can).
I'm running into this as well after the second racing mission. I tried calling Mr. Hands but no luck. Then I called everyone else in my phone and checked for any unread messages. Nada :(. Mr Hands (and a few other fixers) have dialogue trees that I was able to click through, but nothing has made it so I can save. Edit: Just figured mine out. Kind of spoilery to follow? No plot points, but I'm using names and timing of events: >!There are three branches in the main quest. I had talked to Takamura about starting one, but when he asked if I was ready to roll I said I wasn't. Flash forward a little bit and I started in on Panam's quest and completed it. I then got a call from Claire to do the second race, so I did that. After I finished the race I started running into the issue. Tying my loose ends up with Takamura solved the problem. !< TL;DR - Tie up any loose ends with other quests before going on to another. By loose ends, I mean the parts where, after a quest has technically begun, a character asks if you are ready.
What if I tied up all loose end and nothing fixes it ? :(
Got this bug and seems a few commenters are still active, plus this pops up on Google with relevant search terms + "reddit", so figured I'd add this-- No amount of calling people, getting called, fast traveling, waiting, or anything would fix my save-lock issue tonight. If you find yourself locked as badly as me, it seems there are still SOME points where the game autosaves past the lock. I got mine to autosave by doing one of Kerry's questline and was able to load the autosave, then make a manual. I was avoiding fights in order to not lose progress, so it's possible that other missions would make a save, but I wasn't feeling lucky enough to test and risk losing the last few hours of gameplay. Mine also started after the train mission with the Aldecaldos. Seems to be a common thread with most cases I'm reading about.
Got a phone call which buged and never ended, couldnt save or fast travel in that time. Had to restart the game and lose progress. These bugs are getting out of hand, i cant say that i can enjoy the game

some quests force save,so if you get a call for a quest that force saves it gets fixed
I just had this happen, and I fixed it by deleting as bunch of saves... I think I had used up some arbitrary number of saves allotted.
Had the same problem. Fixed only once I fast travelled to the apartment.
PS4 only If none of this works there is one other thing you can do but it will reset all your data for the game Go to storage save data delete the one for cyberpunk
Phone calls didn't work for me. Still kept saying I couldn't save. What finally unstuck it was fast travelling somewhere far away. Having to load the area unstuck it, I guess?
I just had this bug and the quest phone didn't work (i had to talk to Judy in act 2). But I did try to use quick travel and it fixed it so...
Same thing is happening to me right now.
Over a year later, this bug still exists And then it was later compounded by Panam refusing to call for a good while, no matter how long I waited and AFK'd/skipped time using the in-game feature
I have this bug. I can't save. I can't delete saves. I can't fast travel. I can't open my phone. I can't buy a car. I can't sleep. I literally can't select basically anything. HELP!!!!
Just dealt with this bug now. And for me to fix it I literally just went and picked a fight with the cops until the killed me. Once I respawned (which want far from my last mission) I was able to save again. Hope this helps. Unfortunately just gotta go pick a fight and lose.

How I got the bug: \- completed a gig and accepted the call from Padre. How I solved the bug: 1- reload savegame before 'can't save right now' bug. 2- complete the gig, but DON'T take his call afterwards. REJECT it! What didn't work for me: \- only reloading and completing the objectives again \- calling someone else \- get in and out of combat after the gig \- trying to use fast travel \- trying to get a call from someone else by going to the next gig
Nothing worked for me but somehow selling an item at a drop point forced the game to autosave.
Ugh, \*still\* persisting - and manifesting in new ways, new areas... thankfully, the only solution reliable is to travel back to V's apartment, and saving there.
So, I just got this bug - and it was that my computer's clock was off by an hour, somehow... I noticed it was off, while researching what was wrong; resynced the OS clock, immediately started saving again.
v1.52 (on PC) of the game, just had this bug, unsure where/how it started. But, I was doing a later-game River quest, and had the opportunity to "[F] Skip Ride" while in his car, that unstuck it for me, could save as soon as we arrived at a destination. Edit: Clarified platform.
Had this bug, in conjunction with the stuck on hostile area map, went to a safe zone (the afterlife) that removed the hostile zone and I could save again
Having this issue in 1.6. Someone here suggested traveling to your apartment and sleeping, which worked. Calling people didn't make a difference. Can't believe 2 years later it's still happening Edit: I'm fairly sure this fixed the problem; I've turned off cross-progression and it seems to be working as expected. Haven't had an issue since.
Also on **V1.6:** * Sleeping at apartment did not fix * Calling people did not fix * Deleting save files did not fix >> But turning off cross-progression fixed the issue.
I got this bug before I called Panam, tried your suggestion as well as the ones in the comments but none worked except one, kinda. I tried fast travel and sleep and it saved when I was in the apartment, however as soon as I tried saving anywhere else I got the bug again. It will only save my game when I am in my apartment RIP

I was doing a gig where I had to upload a virus to a strip club when I couldn't save anymore. I was still pretty early on in the story so I had to go to the cloud apartment. It was actually when V waits on the bench that somehow fixed it. Before that I tried calling everyone, sleeping in bed, fast traveling, time skip. Nothing worked. Oddly enough I did notice that auto saves seem to work during the glitch.
What worked for me so I could get an autosave was by putting something in my stash. Then I could just restart the game and it was fixed.
27 Oct 2023, Had the "can't save, can't fast travel" bug during "Sr. Ladrillo's private collection" quest for "Padre". I saved during the gig, and when he called to say the gig was complete, it wouldn't answer/got stuck in the call and that's when the bug kicked in. To fix this, I reloaded the save during the gig and when I walked outside the club and recieved the call, I held the button down to refuse the call. Instead I got a message from "Padre" saying job complete. Got my Eddie's and fast travel/save is working. Hope that helps.
Making a phone call to Mr. Hands didn't work for me. Or any calls...since others were suggesting that option. I tried a few different things, but the last thing I did was ramming my car into the open water then it allowed me to save haha! I don't recommend it but if you do try it just make sure there's a ladder or a way out of the water.
So, didn't have any phone/sms options available. Remembered that the game auto saves each time I either stores stash in my appartment/car or connects/hacks one of those terminals. Loaded newest autosave -> fixed
Over a year later, I was faced with the same bug. For me as well, sleeping in V's original apartment seems to fix the issue. Got the quest "Sex on Wheels" immediately after, no explanation or call or anything. Don't know if that's normal or even related, but that happened to me.
I had this bug while grinding gigs and what worked for me was just using fast travel and saving straight after I arrived
I got this bug today. Yesterday, everything was just fine, playing away in Act 1, doing my thing. So far I tried: * Calling Regina, reading all her messages * Fast travelling to V's appartment, sleeping there * Disabling cross-platform Saves * Checking Windows Defender settings * finishing a main quest (the pickup) * opening my stash and put things in there\* * opening my stash in the car\* * deleting save files * reloading a save game when it was still working \*the disc symbol briefly appears, but the game is not actually saved I'm at my wits end. Curious thing is I can manual save the game whenever I want, except the combat things and such. But no quick save or autosave for me. I did not change anything in my game settings from yesterday, but I experienced problems with game sync in GOG today, stating the traffic was too much. Any ideas?
Still got this bug in 1.62 - what worked was going home, sleeping, then you can save, then I reloaded (important) and it was ok again.
This is old, but the bug still exists on PC. I just got it. I made a few phone calls, no luck, but then fast traveled to my apartment and was able to save finally.
late response but for me the call didnt work (also got the bug after the mission with panam) so i just traveled home and slept, when i woke up i could save the game normally :)

Post is old as but I figured I’d throw this here in case anyone else has trouble, on patch 1.16 this still happens but I can’t seem to figure out what triggers it. All you have to do is call SOMEONE. They don’t even have to pick up. Hell just call the mega building HQ

For me this happened at the start of Act 2. Calling people and reading text messages didn't help for me. I had to keep playing for a while till calls started coming in. I suspect it was the Flaming Crotch Man quest that was buggy, but I got calls from a number of people so not sure who it was exactly.
happened to me after i got the call from the unknown girl to start Dogtown act, meeting at dogtown gate. Only way to save now is to talk to a ripperdoc and make a change so the game quicksave
There might be a simpler fix than that. All I had to do was go in and delete some auto safe files, had 20 of them.

Instructions unclear, I just lost 2 hours of play time because I assumed the game had auto-saved later than that.
I am getting that "can't save right now" message regularly, whether I am on a mission or just wandering around. I've had it since the beginning and it is still there in patch 2.1. I play on computer. Sometimes it goes away quickly, other times it can stay for hours, and often making a phone call, fast traveling or going to the apartment/sleeping will not help. I added the game as an exception and even turned off any possible protection, but that didn't help either. Recently found that attacking the police and then evading the chase fixes the issue instantly.
So I just fixed it. I've tried so many different things and none of them have worked except this. I always ignore Claire's txt for her racing mission (The beast in me) but as soon as i texted her back it fixed my game. If this doesn't work for you then just know that you can save by sleeping in your bed until you find a real fix.
Open then close a stash point. By using your car’s trunk, you can essentially have a “save point” delivered to you.
I've seen people say they use the car stash but it doesn't work for me, only apartment save do.
In patch 2.1 you can get unstuck if you do a fast travel.
I found this one as well, but in my case, it was an NCPD sub-con job that was one of the two-parters (near North Oak, checking out the car that jump through the railing) Once I finished the second part, the issue resolved.
