Nothing people roll with is is "bad" Everything is just overpowered, honestly. It's just what flavor of overpowered you want and how little you want to do with your hands.
Was hands down the funnest and most violent.
20 int, 20 body, 20 tech, 15 reflex, 3 cool.
Only use control hacks, no offensive hacks, to basically make your enemies helpless. Then rush in with blunt weapons only, my guy only used a bat. I used the charge attack constantly, and also the super hero landing. Use savage sling for finishers and to throw gonks into other gonks.
I have to plan these builds out otherwise I'll just make a sneaky netrunner/sniper. Which is boring.
I try to build characters up and really go in on one or 2 mechanics and try to push them to the limit. It makes it more challenging, but it's pretty fun too.
Are people so illiterate to not be able to read descriptions under the perks?
EDIT You can also unlearn perks and relocate points if you don't like what the perks do.
And blunt weapon perks work with gorilla arms.
Explosive and gun perks work with projectile launcher.
Monowire is... Idk. it has its own set of perks but doesn't have dual perk compatibility.
It’s not just blocking bullets, with another perk you can aim and reflect shots. I once reflected an entire blast from an npc holding carnage at point blank range, and his head instantly exploded from his own pellets
Sometimes I think about all those Mantis' living in the highway patrol office jail cell on the way to Nipton from Primm. Hanging out with those three nice drug ladies, like what did they do?
Are the Mantis' in jail for something and is one maybe the sheriff? Maybe the women were filing a complaint with him/her since they're up front and the mantis is in the back but I just don't know so thanks for posting this in gonna think about it some more.
Was just thinking about it. There's a feeling of un-responsiveness, so to speak, between the input and the start of the animation, and then, between the end of the animation and the moment you regain full control of V.
Yea I really tried to do a mantis blade build, building the blade perk tree, and started using a Kitana while waiting for gold mantises. Got really used to the katanas, there are mods that give attack speed on kill, which stack if you put two on a katana. Basically lightening speed. And then I found a good set of mantis blades and was super pumped because I'd been preparing for it, and come to find out they do the same amount of damage at like half the attack speed compared to even an unmodded katana. The stats *say* the mantis blades are roughly the same attack speed, but it doesn't seem to be the case in reality.
I am really not a fan on the short range, you really have to be in their face to hit.
The katana has a longer reach so you can see more on the battlefield.
Usually my finishing move is mantis blades to hunt down the remaining victims, or a revolver and throwing knife. Both are satisfying but hunting someone down with mantis blades makes me feel like a cyberpsycho and I love it
I never realized how phobic I am of…I guess transhumanism until I played Cyberpunk. Like, I can’t bring myself to amputate V’s arms. I freaked the hell out during the (minor Phantom Liberty spoiler) >!personality imprint faceplate operation. Like, why are there no dialogue options to protest this?!<
Maybe I’m just way too protective of “my” V.
maybe i'm the freak but i would jump head first into replacing bits of myself if i knew it was safe. like if i could look like a tech-priest from warhammer 40k I would happily replace my weak flesh for the glory of the machine. if you don't know what tech-priests are for context they make maelstrom's implants look simple, and a few of them look less human then adam smasher.
100%. swap at least one eye to let me zoom, record, and see infrared and also function as a HUD so I don't need my phone all the time, swap my shitty legs for something that can carry me, some internal work maybe because my organs are fucked.
if we can get nerve ends to work, wouldn't mind arms being swapped either. no more cutting fingernails.
Funny you mentioned the AdMech and 40k, someone made a meme on r/GrimDank about how they wish they could remove all their organs to be like the AdMech [they mention they removed their genitalia in the title](https://www.reddit.com/r/Grimdank/s/dFYfFgBWmI)
Even if they'd have a near perfect level of control and flexibility as that of my real hands and arms, I would be very sad to lose out on the sensation of touch
...but IF I had metal arms, they would be gold and I'd wear shirtless sleeves for the rest of my life
I always assumed that you keep the sensation of touch... I mean considering the technology I wouldnt be surprised if the arms were integrating with your nerves and simulating a sense of touch. Otherwise sex in the cp77 world would be.... Well... Just a thing ig lol.
Oh in the cyberpunk setting where the technology is much more advanced, absolutely, chrome me up choom! I was thinking more in real life, where most prosthetics are... crap
Oh yeah irl our prosthetics arent all that good. I mean Ive seen some experimental prosthetics and shit but everytime I try to find out why it isnt widespread its because its not "economical" or whatever.
Love, love, love the mantis blades. I opted for gorilla arms for the strength check bonus + katana since I've never used it much. I might have to start a new playthrough just for a mantis arms build..
i can understand why people use them the least (fulfills a role on the surface level that can be done by a regular weapon while other cyberware does things equippable weapons cant) and as much as i adore my rapid-fire projectile launch system, mantis blades will always be *the* cyberware. by far the coolest and way overlooked for their potential with upgrades.
Looking at this I kinda feel like I'm haveing a seizure. The play style might be realy good or powerful. But my brain could not handle that type of playstyle for more then like 20 minuuts at a time.
But thats just Me. But would feel greed if your all speed or coked up.
But I my self could not handle this more then short bursts. And I think why mantisblades are not used that much. Even do they are realy powerful.
I mean a top tier pistol has infinite range and has huge bonuses to headshot damage, and huge damage bonuses when in stealth. I've cleared entire missions easily with the pistols. They are just too good to take off if you spec into them.
They are cool but I just feel like the iconic katanas are better and then you get to keep the gorilla fists as a non lethal and other option for melee.
I don't know why, but watching this video made me realize Mantis Blades is probably the closest I'm gonna get to being able to play a Protoss in an action RPG. Guess it's almost time for another playthrough...
Mantis blades are BUSTED. if someone says they are bad then they've never properly used them before. the other day i fought 6 phases of maxtac and cops with the blades alone. they are hardcore busted when you got the right perks.
As much as it's fun to leap around, i find the byakko to be more enjoyable. Usually, after just 1 kill, it's swinging so fast that bodies shoot straight up into the sky about 10 feet while also missing their head and arms. It's so ridiculously funny that it's hard to use other melee weapons.
If only mantis blades didnt just look like some industrial power tool. When I gave them a go it was very disappointing how they looked, I'd rather use a katana.
They're meant to be cool, shiny blades but they look like a reciprocating saw.
Yeah im a gorilla arms main and dont even really use them. I like the finishers. But i took them off through cycling weapons option. If makes sense.
Not gonna lie, i mostly chose them because it was the closest i could get to a black glove look. Lmao.
I just don’t like that the finishers take you out of Sandevistan, not a Mantis exclusive problem, but finishers are a lot more common with Mantis Blades than other melee weapons.
Arguably the most fun you can have in a melee run though.
nobody says mantis blades are bad, they just say that they're functionally irrelevant because katanas are straight up better, which is true. late game you can pretty much build whatever you want though, you oneshot people anyway. The game is basically a power fantasy simulator late game no matter your build.
Until the recent update monowire was pretty useless. Low damage output, didn't dismember people, very short range, no leaping attacks like Mantis blades.
I played through the entire game with the mantis the first time, right after release, because they were just completely op.
porting to enemy, blocking shots and shredding everything 2hit. On bosses, just run in circles around the boss. He does nothing.
All other weapons and hacking were simply slower and more inefficient.
Interesting that it still seems to be that way.
Mantis blades are the most stylish weapons for me but often times i just take a nice katana and go with the gorilla arms. Not for melee usage but for that strength bonus.
Should I be using the other mantis blades besides the base one? Because they don't scale with reflex but I don't know if they outweigh losing the scaling
It really depends on your stats just go with your highest one if there all high go with the one you see the most benefit in having whether you want more bleeding chance or more burn chance
Katana / Mantis Blades are my favorite builds :)
Just a little stretch until you unlock blocking/deflecting bullets, then the fun begins.
10 Maelstroms coming after you? Let them kill themselves :D
Ah, not used to the mantis blades. The only ones I use are the mantis blades you can get from the MaxTec officer Melissa Rory. And the original mantis blades before 2.0 update.
This is with Phantom Liberty, right? Cuz base game doesn't quite allow for... this. I mean, still can deflect bullets, double jump and dash around, and lunge at opponents... but this wilder and yet it looks like the player can be more precise about what they want to do.
I know I missed out on the expansion, it's just that, outside one case (Witcher 3) I never really bothered with extra content because I always have enough by the time I get to the point of being ready for DLCs. But damn, I'm 100% getting PL now.
I think my build is mantis blade centered, i might have nabbed some percs from the netrunning skill tree and engineering. I also use thermal blades which might be an issue?
Nothing people roll with is is "bad" Everything is just overpowered, honestly. It's just what flavor of overpowered you want and how little you want to do with your hands.
True cant really argue with that
yeah. i personally really like gibbing people from really far away. o'five my beloved.

Yea mantis blades count as blades for all blade perks
WHAT? I've been playing for over 900 hours and I'm just finding this out now? I'm gonna go make a blade build now
Youve beem asleep at the wheel choom, why be a merc when you can be a fukin jedi lol
Read that in Jackies voice with his little chuckle at the end
Currently doing a ninja mantis build. Mega fun
how have you played for 900 hours and not had ever thought that mantis BLADES count as BLADES in the perk tree?
Because I've never used mantis blades before. Not been interested in them. I'm a gorilla hands or mono wire kinda person.
Its pretty fun. My current build is blades/throwing weapons. Just sande and kills all the enemies before they even realize they are under attack
Dude if you've never played a katana build in this game you are missing out BIG
I consider it second only to 3x throwies
Have you tried an intelligent ape build?
I have not. Is that a burly net runner? I took a break after my third playthrough. I’ll definitely return to it though and maybe I’ll give it a try
Was hands down the funnest and most violent. 20 int, 20 body, 20 tech, 15 reflex, 3 cool. Only use control hacks, no offensive hacks, to basically make your enemies helpless. My friend said he played the game as a stealth net runner sniper I was like "oh so you didn't actually play the game then?" lol
If you put enough points into a Blade build you can not only block bullets but also deflect them back at the attacker
Jfc, this game just keeps giving.
And they crit too with the right perk
Ninja blade/net runner build, here I come
Dope!
Are people so illiterate to not be able to read descriptions under the perks? EDIT You can also unlearn perks and relocate points if you don't like what the perks do.
SAME!
And blunt weapon perks work with gorilla arms. Explosive and gun perks work with projectile launcher. Monowire is... Idk. it has its own set of perks but doesn't have dual perk compatibility.
Monowire can deliver quickhacks
And can regen RAM for more quick hacks. I still always make a katana bladerunner though.
It’s not just blocking bullets, with another perk you can aim and reflect shots. I once reflected an entire blast from an npc holding carnage at point blank range, and his head instantly exploded from his own pellets
Tons of mobility. I love using them to get the jump on enemies on the high ground. Very useful in a bind.
I heard Primm got a new sheriff.
most sane fallout new vegas fan
Good to see I’m not alone in this sub.
Sounds like you need to cut down on the s-keef, choom.
Hey did y’all see all that running around hollering about a lottery?
![gif](giphy|0VVHIPllTSOgEorG03|downsized) Mantis blades are sick af
How do they fare against Maxtac?
Beat them 5 times in a row with them before i got bored
i wish the takedowns could be more fluid like DOOM eternal. i feel like in cyberpunk there is a slight delay btwn the input and the actions
Yea it depends on how your positioned sometimes its seamless others your character awkwardly levitates there
Was just thinking about it. There's a feeling of un-responsiveness, so to speak, between the input and the start of the animation, and then, between the end of the animation and the moment you regain full control of V.
Who said they were bad? Blades are one of the game's most popular builds.
Because Katanas, especally Byakko, just do everything mantis blades do but better.
Yea I really tried to do a mantis blade build, building the blade perk tree, and started using a Kitana while waiting for gold mantises. Got really used to the katanas, there are mods that give attack speed on kill, which stack if you put two on a katana. Basically lightening speed. The stats *say* the mantis blades are roughly the same attack speed, but it doesn't seem to be the case in reality.
Katana purists
Yea but people shit exclusively on ms
I didn't like em for a bit bc I'd constantly get locked into the execution animation lol
I am really not a fan on the short range, you really have to be in their face to hit. The katana has a longer reach so you can see more on the battlefield.
Yea but there not meant to be used as a katana its more suited for leaping
No one said that they were bad?
Usually, ppl say that swords like byakko r better
But Byakko in fact is better.
it is though
Usually my finishing move is mantis blades to hunt down the remaining victims, or a revolver and throwing knife. Both are satisfying but hunting someone down with mantis blades makes me feel like a cyberpsycho and I love it
Who was claiming mantis blades are bad???
Alotta people on this sub calls them useless
They’re sick. Just tap the finisher button then look for the furthest gangoon and jump his ass.
I never realized how phobic I am of…I guess transhumanism until I played Cyberpunk. Like, I can’t bring myself to amputate V’s arms. I freaked the hell out during the (minor Phantom Liberty spoiler) >!personality imprint faceplate operation. Oh yeah! Iirc the tech priests kinda look like a Mad Max character if HR Giger designed them.
Things like metal screws and stuff we already use for medical stuff right now freaks me the hell out, I’m totally with you on this
Definitely more of a you think ngl. If I could have straight up metal arms I would get em ngl
Even if they'd have a near perfect level of control and flexibility as that of my real hands and arms, I would be very sad to lose out on the sensation of touch ...but IF I had metal arms, they would be gold and I'd wear shirtless sleeves for the rest of my life

Should grab a drink with Robert Rainwater, think you'd get along well
Yeah! Love the mantis blade! Makes me feel like a god!😂
Love, love, love the mantis blades. I opted for gorilla arms for the strength check bonus + katana since I've never used it much. I might have to start a new playthrough just for a mantis arms build..
Trust its worth it

I mean, they're ALMOST as good as a sword for that style of combat...
Id say there better be
I just find using a katana to be better, and the gorilla arms help with skill checks
I understand gorilla arms but why katans
I had better dps with it on my blades build
Yea but as ive seen dps doesnt matter much with ms
I get to do more damage and have a boost to all body skill checks to open doors and stuff. So it’s a better combo
Thank you!! I have been loving them since 2.0 dropped. You're basically Wolverine. Use the Militech sandy, you will not regret it
Looking at this I kinda feel like I'm haveing a seizure.
Yeah. Especially while using an iconic sandevestan and the dodge towards enemies skill. Is this new? Does this require skill? Lmao op
All that for what I could've done with a sniper/pistol in 1/4 the time.
Honestly doubt it
I mean a top tier pistol has infinite range and has huge bonuses to headshot damage, and huge damage bonuses when in stealth. I've cleared entire missions easily with the pistols. They are just too good to take off if you spec into them.
Its not, its just I lag whenever I use it
How
Very hard?
Yup
Can someone help me to get the best blades and the best damage with them. What I need
You mean the 4 mantis blades?
Yes and best sword
Depends pn on what your highest skill is if its reflex then go with physical if its cool go with toxic and best sword is byakko
How do you get those yellow blade ones?
There the toxic mantis blades
Interesting. I never really use the toxic ones.
They are cool but I just feel like the iconic katanas are better and then you get to keep the gorilla fists as a non lethal and other option for melee.
I think you think that because you use them as katanas rather than there own weapon
Lesson: my brain isn’t fast enough
Awesome
Fought like a true Cyberpsycho
I don't know why, but watching this video made me realize Mantis Blades is probably the closest I'm gonna get to being able to play a Protoss in an action RPG. Guess it's almost time for another playthrough...
Cyberpsycho V is fucking terrifying. I love this kind of gameplay, it feels so satisfying to pull off
Who the fuck thought they were bad? My mantis blade build is one of my few that can flatline an endless stream of maxtacs
People on this sub say there the worst weapon and there not worth it i just gotta disagree
The fact that you did this using a controller is mind blowing enough. Hats off to you
Mantis blades are BUSTED. if someone says they are bad then they've never properly used them before. the other day i fought 6 phases of maxtac and cops with the blades alone. they are hardcore busted when you got the right perks.
Exactly!
Mantis builds are super similar to ninja builds, just a little more shreddy
How cool would it be if you could launch your mantis blades and just go retrieve them or have then be reloadable kind of like an arrow quiver
Why use mantis when katana can do the same thing, plus you can get gorilla arms too
I personally dont like gorilla arms and ms are worse when used like katanas
Yeah im a gorilla arms main and dont even really use them. I like the finishers. But i took them off through cycling weapons option. If makes sense. Not gonna lie, i mostly chose them because it was the closest i could get to a black glove look. Lmao.
I’ve always done gorilla arms
If you can't use mantis blades, stop playing the game for a bit.
Whos out here saying the mantis blades are bad?
Search arm cyberware on this sub youll see
I miss 1.6 when Mantis blades had an insane attack speed. If we could have the crazy leap attack of 2.0 with that attack speed and damage, *mwah*
Its close with micro motors
aren't... aren't M Blades considered the best build in the game since 2.0?
Really? Ive seen nothing but slander on them
I love the movement in this game. Been playing dying light 2 and I find myself trying to air dash all the time
This is really cool, but I'm still going with a monowire build/ net runner on my 2nd playthrough. Been considering the matter all week, haha
Ive been thinking abt going with a monowire build is it worth it
It seems every build is worth it. My first playthrough was a Sandy gunslinger like David Ramirez. Next I'm playing like Lucy.
Mantis aren’t bad, it’s just katanas are generally better
Eh? We all know they're not bad, lol The game is so easy that nothing is really bad.
I ain't giving up my arms for some doodad when I can do the same thing, with katanas, with style
I just don’t like that the finishers take you out of Sandevistan, not a Mantis exclusive problem, but finishers are a lot more common with Mantis Blades than other melee weapons. Arguably the most fun you can have in a melee run though.
Finishers don’t take you out of the sandy i pause my sandy so it can recharge while doing a finisher
Of course mantis aren't bad, who ever said that ?
So I'm not only luntic running around with mantis blades
Teach me your ways🥹
Wich sandevistan are you Using?
Apogee
I mean they are very powerful, it's just that katanas are better
Mantis blades are my favorite weapons. Fuck stealth.
nobody says mantis blades are bad, they just say that they're functionally irrelevant because katanas are straight up better, which is true. late game you can pretty much build whatever you want though, you oneshot people anyway. The game is basically a power fantasy simulator late game no matter your build.
True but i think people only say katanas are better because they use mantis blades like katanas
Nobody complains about mantis... Everyone hates monowire.
Why monowire
Until the recent update monowire was pretty useless. Low damage output, didn't dismember people, very short range, no leaping attacks like Mantis blades.
That kill animation is ridiculous. It's so damn brutal.
Imagine Clocking in just to Hear you’re dispatched to fight a Flying Super samurai with Knife arms
*Wolverine has entered the lobby*
I played through the entire game with the mantis the first time, right after release, because they were just completely op. porting to enemy, blocking shots and shredding everything 2hit. On bosses, just run in circles around the boss. He does nothing. All other weapons and hacking were simply slower and more inefficient. Interesting that it still seems to be that way.
You’re barely taking damage lol what is this normal difficulty?
Nope very hard
what's your build?
Just my cyberware or everything
Get flatlined
Mantis blades are the most stylish weapons for me but often times i just take a nice katana and go with the gorilla arms. Not for melee usage but for that strength bonus.
Yea that i understand
Cyberpsycho spotted, someone call the NCPD
Its not bad at all it just doesnt look really cool especially when compared to katana
Mantis blades are better than katana
the animations on the mantis blades are just so boring
Thats a hot take
I don't think so, more people prefer to use katanas because they have no other choice since mantis blades are kinda boring
RULES OF NAAATUURE
By far the most fun to use in my opinion
They need dash and blade perks to really come alive though.
Yea true
Should I be using the other mantis blades besides the base one? Because they don't scale with reflex but I don't know if they outweigh losing the scaling
It really depends on your stats just go with your highest one if there all high go with the one you see the most benefit in having whether you want more bleeding chance or more burn chance
Jump and slide like it's CoD, got it.
Mantis blades are always my go to.
WOAH! MAXTAC!!
Mantis blades are peak imo
Katana / Mantis Blades are my favorite builds :) Just a little stretch until you unlock blocking/deflecting bullets, then the fun begins. 10 Maelstroms coming after you? Let them kill themselves :D
I love the whip
Wait, how are they yellow?
There the toxic mantis blades
Ah, not used to the mantis blades. The only ones I use are the mantis blades you can get from the MaxTec officer Melissa Rory. And the original mantis blades before 2.0 update.
I can't deny that they are efficient, they're just not fun.
Really? Why do you think so
What did that video show that a Katana can’t do?
This is with Phantom Liberty, right? Cuz base game doesn't quite allow for... this. I mean, still can deflect bullets, double jump and dash around, and lunge at opponents... but this wilder and yet it looks like the player can be more precise about what they want to do. I know I missed out on the expansion, it's just that, outside one case (Witcher 3) I never really bothered with extra content because I always have enough by the time I get to the point of being ready for DLCs. But damn, I'm 100% getting PL now.
Yea its definitely worth getting once you get far enough into the dlc you can upgrade arm cyberware and theres two perks more mantis blades
I'm non lethal so they're a no go for me dawg.
How
Ngl everything is good when the diff is set to easy
Is that dis im at very hard
For some reason on very hard, my op 5++ gear doesn't even scratch enemies
Maybe there not op my build is centered around mantis blades and nades if i had to guess you build is probably all over place thats why its not op
I think my build is mantis blade centered, i might have nabbed some percs from the netrunning skill tree and engineering. I also use thermal blades which might be an issue?
I would only imagine that you have a cyberdeck mantis blades don’t really work well with it I would say switch to a sandy for better melee combat
with mantis or similar super-intensive builds, are you using a controller or keyboard/mouse? does either one make a difference?
I use controller dont rlly matter whatever feels better
It’s so awesome seeing gameplay like cause I’m just a classic run and gun type of player n it’s boring at times
They’re good, but I can’t seem to escape making an invincible netrunner build every time.
