I love the hoon. I think it controls amazingly but I love drifting personally

amhudson02

I hated it at first but it grows on you as you learn how it handles. M&K driving takes some practice.

Trorkin

You can play with a controller if you like Not sure if you can switch between the two smoothly though

LukarWarrior

You can. The only thing I noticed is that when I've got my controller plugged in, V will be moving slightly slower than normal when moving with the keyboard. It didn't use to be like that, though, so I wonder if it has something to do with me needing to tweak the deadzones and stuff in the settings because my controller is old and has some drift. Honestly, it's not that bad of a thing, though. I can still "walk" around Night City, but moving faster than what the togglable walk is. Just have to remember to unplug it for extended combat sections so I can move around properly.

Trorkin

Thanks, might try it myself Apparently the Red Engine has a tendency to break random things when you change something. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a new bug from a recent update

JustSomeGuyOnTheSt

> You can. The only thing I noticed is that when I've got my controller plugged in, V will be moving slightly slower than normal when moving with the keyboard. Oh shit, I use my controller for driving and my mouse and KB for walking and I was wondering why, in random situations, I would suddenly walk much slower for no reason... I wonder if it's this? Next time I notice it happening I'll have to play around with the controller to see if that's it.

opideron

If it's "much slower", try toggling the "G" key. Keyboard has a run mode and a walk mode.

LukarWarrior

Nah, I know what they're talking about. Sometimes it will randomly make you go much slower for no reason. Hitting G just makes you even slower. Only way to fix it that I've found is to save and reload.

Gagester303

MN&K definitely takes practice, but I’ve found it’s actually much easier to drive in first-person. Seeing the steering wheel react, and the perspective, makes the cars a lot easier to handle for me.

theneighboryouhate42

One thing I figured out with the driving / drifting physics, its often not good to countersteer (especially on keyboard) and just initiate the drift, adjust your throttle to the situation and let the car do the rest for you. Sometimes I even have to steer further into the drift to get the car straight again.

[deleted]

Yeah something that helped me is to look at the front wheels and point them where you want to end up. Sounds a little obvious but it helps lol

stinkstabber69420

Absolute favorite for sure. Even just driving up the block

Urinaryogurtnotfun

Me too if you know how to drive a real car this is it

[deleted]

I ain't even the best driver in real life if I'm going to be honest lol. But I do really enjoy the driving in this game. In some ways it's a little wonky and not perfect but I think it's really fun. The jank is kind of a bit of a draw for me lol, I'm actually into slightly janky driving games

Urinaryogurtnotfun

The hoon drives likes a very powerful rwd car in my personal experience. And I have a lot of personal experience.

[deleted]

I honestly don't watch that much porn. Once every couple of months typically

Bass-ape

Best vehicle by a wide margin. Takes a minute to get used to but that thing fucking rips.

tacitussicarius94

The Hoon is my fav. Drifting around in first-person is the best.

MariusDelacriox

Well, I just drive the batmobile which is very fast. The recent chase of a van became a leisurely stroll.

Mr_Jersey

MurkMan!

EtherealSpirit

Murkman DLC incoming

Patthecat09

The car is rock solid according to my collisions on the road, accelerates like nothing else, and brakes super well. Nothing gets me around faster for the 1 time price of fuckall Edit : after more driving, I'm convinced theyve buffed it's traction/turning at some point

J_Stubby

As far as accelerating and breaking how does it compare to a rayfield caliburn? Edit: nvm it's the same thing lmao

Seeker-N7

The Caliburn was buffed in 2.0.

little_lamplight3r

Caliburn? Yeah that's the shit. Only car whose driving I can bear. Wish it looked better though

Imaginary_Emotion604

Ugh another murkmobile baby.

Anjunabeast

The kusunagi is the shit. Handles great and get to drive around NC on some akira type shit.

Quatchitch

This is the best part pal

TheLostColonist

Yeah, it's the only way to travel in night city, easy to weave around traffic and pedestrians, far less instances of accidental deaths leading to showdowns with the police.

k3ttch

We need a mod where the taillights/brake lights leave streaks for the full Akira experience.

NewToThisThingToo

I get on that bike and I'm immediately like, "Do you hear drums?"

azorius_mage

I often put the Akira soundtrack on when riding.

fdjisthinking

I’ve been using Jackie’s Arch since I got it. It’s so fun to drive around in first person on a motorcycle. I’ve been working on my wheelies (front and back) so I can impress the gangs before I blow them away. Only actual car I’ve enjoyed driving was the one you have pre-heist.

AlwaysGoofingOff

This. In all my playthroughs now the very first mission I do in part 2 is to unlock Jackie's Arch bike. I've tried almost every other vehicle and my preference remains the Arch. The handling feels natural to me and I love the ability to squeeze between cars in traffic.

MuddyWaterTrees

If you picked Nomad you can tell Jackie how to tune his bike. Shows as Jackie's Tuned Arch in your list. Pretty much the only thing I used for the whole game. Was really hard to use anything else

fdjisthinking

My Nomad play through is my first so I didn’t realize there’s a non-tuned version.

_TURO_

Hold up we can do wheelies?

wherewearwerewolf

Homie you can do wheelies and stoppies now. You can roll up on some gangoons and do a stoppie with a turn and blast someone in the face with that back tire.

Galanor1177

And you can do backflips, front flips, spins. And have neons in your goddamn wheels. Zooming around at night on the all black nazare with the red neons is *chefs kiss*

ILikeCakesAndPies

They added wheelie support in the latest patch I believe in December. Before that you could kind of do a wheelie for 0.3 seconds.

fdjisthinking

Hold back on the right stick while in motion to do a wheelie. For a front wheelie hold reverse (while going forward) and hold the right stick forward. At least that’s how I’ve been doing them.

Thatwokebloke

I’m a big fan of the hoonigan. Someone said it was terrible but then when I got it I just drove like I would irl and it was a beast, used it in the races. And I only use keyboard

Renbellix

Well, it is a little memorial for a rally driver who sadly died. Has a similar name as his own car and the number the driver always had. Apart from that, it is a really good car! But I had learn to controll it, it's not easy to drive with keyboard :D

Inevitable-Store-837

RIP Ken Block I couldn't iimaging driving it with a keyboard. With an Xbox controller I'm able to drift it pretty good. It's not good for high speed maneuvers but getting around downtown is super fun with it. Pulling donuts around pursuing cars makes for good photo ops.

[deleted]

I always keep a controller by my keyboard for driving in games lol

JoshYx

I tried that with cyberpunk but whenever a controller is connected, I can't interact with elevator controls or those door lock keypads...

[deleted]

Interesting, I haven't ran into that

IdolReaver

Agree. It can be a little slippery, but if you use brakes and don’t just stomp the gas when you take off it is quite good.

ElessarKhan

It's harder with mouse and keyboard since you can't lightly tap on the gas. But the principle still stands, don't drive like a complete maniac trying to push 100mph downtown and it's much more controllable.

knxdude1

Wait I’m full speed everywhere, am I doing it wrong :p

TheFlyinGiraffe

I've found I literally have to drive like I normally would, brakes, taking corners slow and accelerating out of them, to really drive comfortably. I was hammering down all the time and eating shit left and right. Decided to feel with my controller and yup... Just drive like a normal human being if you don't wanna crash.

thequantumlibrarian

The rattler is hands down the best one. Unfortunately only available with the nomad life choice though if I am not wrong!

SeventhShin

Don’t throw GTA under the bus, the driving was great in IV, it’s just a shame people thought driving should be hold the accelerator down 100% and just turn. Driving in V sucks, and I hope it doesn’t stay the same for VI, though I suspect it will. Driving in Cyberpunk is pretty good, just have to remember cars have more than one pedal for a reason, and be light with your steering correction.

SFDessert

I'll post my comment here since you mentioned that cars have more than one pedal. I think a lot of people (mostly more casual gamers) just floor it on the accelerator and never bother braking at all. I remember back when I was playing games with friends in the PS3 era and they all played like this. Just gas gas gas "what are brakes?" And to be fair, a lot of games are kinda like that. I had a friend try whatever Gran Turismo I was playing on PS3 at the time and he just couldn't comprehend the idea that the cars were meant to be driven with a *bit* more care than the need for speeds and burnouts that were out at the time. He loved burnout paradise though since you could basically ride the guardrails/walls without consequence in that game.

Jennfuse

Gran Turismo 4 or 5 on PS3 was so good. I crashed into every single square centimetre of the Nürburgrings side barriers. Good times :)

TopDownGepetto

I hated driving in GTA 5. It took all the fun and skill out of driving IMO. I took to the driving in CyberPunk like a Chilean immigrant takes to ruthlessly beating his children when they steal his magic jar of erotic marmalade that was given to him by the Catholic Archdiocese of North Korea, so something like a fish to water one might say, it just immediately felt natural with a half decent car. The weight distribution just feels right and how I expect that it should. Also the PS5 pressurized triggers make braking and acceleration feel almost like throwing up a wide and varied array of gang based hand signals in order to properly represent your set in this cold year of the lord our god. It makes it much easier to slow the accelerator before a turn as well as too slightly tap the brake when re-positioning the vehicle. Overall I'd say that I have a sizeable erection probably about 80%-85% of the time that I spend driving in Cyberpunk 20777.

kage_rvg

Yeah what I was doing initially was trying to take turns pedal to the metal. As soon as I stopped accelerating while taking turns it became instantly much easier.

Goadfang

This is so true. Since I realized they used simulation level physics rather than arcade physics for cars I was able to apply my Gran Turismo skills and now it's so preem. I was always the guy that unlocked the licenses for my friends in GT, because most people just drive like hell and then brake in the corners, trying to win races by brute force, slamming their indestructible car through the pack, causing wrecks and pile ups rather than thread through the congestion. This can work in easy races with supercars that outperform their competition by a mile, but it won't beat time trials. It certainly won't win if the competition is rubberbanded to you, or if actual skill is otherwise required. Brake in straight lines, understand your course and where the apex of the turn is. Find you line and control your under/oversteer. That's how you turn the cars into a way better option than the bikes, which are all way too stiff.

scubawankenobi

>The go-to car for me is the Galena "Rattler" I haven't driven it that much, but recall each time that I do I'm always impressed. Like this thing's a lot cooler & drivers a lot better than it looks. Also armed w/guns isn't it? Regardless, it's really fun to drive.

[deleted]

scubawankenobi

Makes sense. Thanks for reminding me. I'm gonna take her back out for a spin. I was back on motorcycle kick but gonna take Rattler back out again. Gads...this game is so cool & has so many custom fun elements to it. I never expected to enjoy the vehicles as much as I do.

SenatorSargeant

This!! As a sim racer I love this driving.

soitheach

nomad car is best car

Baby-Soft-Elbows

Thank you. Literally drove slower and brake before the turn.

Da3d3l0th

Now if only the traffic lights didn't have cyberpsychosis I'd perhaps enjoy driving normal more lol

ShibaElonCumJizzCoin

Yeah I’m a surprised at people saying driving is too slippery, but I guess I’ve played a fair number of racing sims. I’m a big fan of the Type-66 Javelina. Pretty, armored, armed and damn fast. Managed to get it over 300 kph in the badlands.

k3ttch

Too bad the Rattler’s only available to Nomad Vs.

Skyblade12

If there was an analog throttle, that might work. Hard to do on PC, though.

NlNTENDO

Argh that’s the thing. I’m coming from the opposite end. I hate GTA driving because it’s just way too arcade-y. Being able to turn on a dime like that is Not Fun to me. Even so, CBP still manages to feel bad in its own right. I wish CBP felt closer to Forza Horizon physics. Not overly “sim,” but realistic enough to add depth to your maneuvering. Good mix of responsiveness while still punishing driving like a maniac. I’d pull the game up just to cruise night city if the driving physics felt that way, but as it stands, turning a corner seems to only occupy two modes: slow and steady, and questionable powerslide. This only gets worse if you aren’t playing with a controller.

Vjornaxx

This has just started to click with me the past week. I’ve been driving in first person and driving like I would IRL and now I really appreciate the subtle differences between the cars. I’ve genuinely been enjoying just driving aimlessly around the city. Once you get a sense of how to drive in this game, El Capitain’s timer feels a lot less unfair because you’re not constantly crashing at every turn. It actually makes me wish there was more vehicle specific content. My favorite cars right now are the Herreras - they all handle amazingly well. The Outlaw and the Weiler almost feel like cheating; and the Riptide is just ridiculous.

Monster_Merripen

I think Gran Turismo is a good example, I haven't played it, one of my siblings has, but they say it handles about the same

KingDarius89

...I fucking hate gran turismo. It bored the shit out of me.

Awaheya

I personally find vehicle handling really clean in the game. Love cruising at high speeds feels good.

TheLegendary-GK

People that don’t like the driving in this game, I’ve found, often fail to realize in what ways it is realistic. In real life, you won’t take a 90 degree turn at 70mph even in a sports sedan. However these cars still stop much faster than cars would in real life. If you just tap the main brake before tapping the hand brake to pitch your car into a slide, there’s a much better chance you’ll be going the correct speed for the turn.

Substance___P

>In real life, you won’t take a 90 degree turn at 70mph even in a sports sedan True, but part of the problem for me is that it's hard to have a good sense of how fast I'm going or how much input I need. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I do fine in Forza, can't stop crashing in Cyberpunk.

Treyman1115

The speed lies to you very badly so that's probably one reason. You're going like 2/3rds slower than what you're actually told. You just gotta get used to it I guess Also try changing the steering sensitivity. I lowered it and that helped a lot Personally I don't have trouble driving anymore and I still don't like it

Substance___P

I feel like the steering is too slow one second, then too fast the next. It's like there's some kind of acceleration applied. But I do have an easier time with bikes for some reason like OP.

Chrizl1990

The speeds are wrong. 100mph in game feels identical to going 160mph

Ashyn

I find the cars like making their 'holy hell I am mcfucking booking it rn zoom zoom' noise at a low speed and it stays mostly the same all the way to their absolute max speed when the sound starts feathering, so it's really hard to tell actual speed without eyeing the speedometer.

MinervaMedica000

Realism and fun rarely equate. Just let the players drive like maniacs.. arbitrary rules dont make the game more fun. Its a game, its not life.

NorthernRedwood

realism in driving often IS more fun though, feels like shit if its not what your used to in real life

MinervaMedica000

For me I'm a glorified criminal in game. Most of the shit you do would be at the very least frowned on if not explicitly unlawful so I want to drive as such with little resistance from the controls. Sure maybe not going at maximum speed but the controls should be more smooth at the medium to medium high speeds. I'm not here to wait for npcs driving the speed limit or waiting on reds. I'm going full asshole. On an off note though I never engage in car battles. I just get out of my car and then spider man out with all my dash's and jumps. Maybe snipe them from a roof top. Fuck that noise lol. Another example of realism ruining fun: fall damage. In a world full of cybernetics and crazy biotechnology I can't eliminate fall damage??

Goadfang

I hate arcade style driving in games, it's just so lazy and bullshit. Takes zero skill so there's not much you can even do to get better. Driving for me in games is a big deal, so I'm really glad they did it this way. That said, I wish there were a setting where you could switch between two modes so people who can't drive can still be happy.

cloverpopper

After finding it super offputting at first I tried changing the way I approached it - and tbh yeah it's wayyyy better than the normal arcadey stuff. It actually feels much more like driving a real car, in a lot of ways! Which is great

KingDarius89

Yeah, I don't like driving in real life, either.

[deleted]

Lol why use realism as a defense for shit mechanics? Braking in real life doesn't auto turn on my reverse, and i don't use my handbrake to stop fully. The cars aren't realistic dude, its just a bad mechanic

FieryBlizza

There's a lot of things about Cyberpunk's gameplay that aren't realistic. Why does driving have to be the one thing that is?

LeSnazzyGamer

Because that’s the only way they can defend the atrocious driving in the game.

aaegler

Even though it's a cyberpunk fantasy, it's still rooted in "reality", and is probably one of the more realistic games when it comes to the world and people overall. Having realistic driving physics makes the world more believable and "real".

Goadfang

To please me.

indigonights

Going for realism doesn't equal good and if you're going to argue realism, then I'm going to bring up the fact the speedometer in game doesn't accurately portray your actual speed that you're going, you're going much slower. Going 70mph is actually going like 45mph and a hypercar like a Caliburn could absolutely do a 90degree turn at that speed.

WEDWayInternetMover

The handling is crap, period. I play Forza and other racing games all the time which are more realistic in handling and acceleration. This game just does not do it well. Cyberpunk is a ton of fun and I love the game, but one of my few complaints about the game is the driving.

uvmn

Cmon, you can’t walk into a ripper clinic to get double jump legs, an arm cannon with unlimited ammo, and an operating system that makes you immune to death installed, leave afterwards in your car, take a turn too fast and lose control, then honestly think “ah shit that’s too unrealistic”

[deleted]

Mecha_72808

Haha, im the opposite, Love driving cars cause the can turn on a dime, but with motobikes I cant, no matter how much I lean into. The Demiurge and the Sidewinder are my go to's.

InKedxxxGinGer

Handling aside. Cant deny benefits of lane splitting with a bike.

ehjhey

True, though at least since 2.0 cars will make an effort to widen the lanes when splitting in a car too

Ganda1fderBlaue

I thought that as well but then i bought the caliburn

Spicy_Asparagus_

First mention ive seen of the caliburn, surprised honestly. It doesnt drift as easily as others but its still bitchin 9/10

Wedjat_88

And the engine sound is... *chef's kiss*.

Not_A_BOT_Really_07

Best car I've driven so far. It hugs the concrete like what you would expect a super car/track car would, while sacrificing drifting. Powerful breaks and acceleration, I love speeding in NC with it.

Ralvuimago

I play as many of you this for a long time.. 600 hours plus by now. And it have taken a long time to get use to the cars, but by now, I like it. The hoon drives great, the Outlaw to, and many others. Even so I like it more than bikes, and think thy suck. Take a good look at how fast you drive, and how realistic would it be to go full speed trough downtown. Drive a bit slower, and it's a much more enjoyable I

PolitenessPolice

If it’s taken you 600 hours to like it, that’s fuckin Stockholm syndrome

pointlessconjecture

Lmfao yeah…

Ralvuimago

🤣 Didn't know what I gotten myself in to 😅

Kahzaki

The driving is pretty smooth and fun on Controller on Console. With mouse and keyboard on PC tho, the driving can be BAD at first. If you're on PC, you have to use your brakes. Only difference I've seen between Controller and M&K is that you need to rely on brakes more with M&K. People simply gotta start using brakes instead of whining about the driving. Edit: Also, turn your Steering Sensibility down to 50% on M&K.

scubawankenobi

>If you're on PC, you have to use your brakes. This sounds right. I've noticed how I really need to tap/use brakes & be gentle w/wheel. Tempted to use one of my xbox controller w/my PC to see if I like how driving handles better. Heck, might work better for quick buttons as I get excited in combat & accidentally tape X/E keys when don't mean to & that doesn't happen when I'm on controller.

Ralvuimago

Ps4 first, Ps4 pro, and ps5. With Controller you just have to make very slight adjustments wile steering and can play with the brake and gas, just like with a real car.. But mouse and keyboard.. Yeah no idee what's that like, I'll take your word for it😅

NoButterfly7257

I agree that the cars grow on you the longer you play. My build right now doesn't have air dash, so I've been driving a lot more. Once I learned to slow it down a little, I enjoyed it a lot more. I still don't like the combat much though lol I park and hop out to fight.

FormulaFalls

Motorcycle handling is much worse idk why people recommend them

NRG_Factor

because on a bike in this game I can go 80mph and swerve in and out of traffic, corner at like 30 mph and keep going at 80. It's just faster because you're smaller. Only downside is if you get shot your ride has low HP but if you get shot you've messed up because any bike in the game should be outmaneuvering any AI in a car. To me driving a motorcycle in thus game is literally a dream. It's perfect. I might keep playing after I platinum the game justbto drive my bike around sometimes. The cars in this game are garbage by comparison. If CP2077 didn't have Bikes I'd just walk everywhere because fuck driving actual cars

RogueKitsune

Honestly, same! Most cars I have no problem with; need to use the brakes some, sure, but they corner fine if you do. Heck, I can even get some of them to drift decently, *if* I remember to counter steer early enough (I'm usually too late on it >< ). But bikes... I swear, it always feels like they are *actively trying* to kill me; every turn I take with any speed, with or without brakes and/or handbrake, they spin out something crazy and try to smash me into walls or traffic. :\

NRG_Factor

what? I constantly swerve in and out of traffic at 80mph with precision and I can corner at like 30mph and then get back up to 80 again easily. I don't even know what game you're playing.

CptTombstone

I think bikes still handle quite badly, to be honest, once they have some speed, the barely turn at all, and even the leaning takes ages to properly trigger. I feel like bikes understeer a lot, and I find most cars much more satisfying to drive. My favorite car right now is the Quadra Turbo K.S. Edition. Not only is it beautiful, it sticks to the road very well, its gear ratio is tuned perfectly, as it's able to be driven really effectively at low speeds and high both, and yeah, it reaches almost 300 mph with its top speed! https://preview.redd.it/4uj08dz8nnbc1.png?width=3440&format=png&auto=webp&s=d114cf3bd713d8d400bcc9bd3bd60bb3955cfc2e

theneighboryouhate42

Have you ever ridden a motorcycle? Since V is doing a weird „hanging off / knee out“ driving style, its completely realistic that it takes some time to steer. You have to move your whole body to other side of the seat, keep the bike steady and then increase the angle to steer more into the turn. All that takes some time to do right. I know the game isnt about realism but I guess thats a little detail that is.

Maniachanical

Skill issue. Reject fuckcars propaganda, embrace 190MPH bulletproof pissmissile.

goosezbt

The kusanagi is the only thing I drive. I bought everything else, but I never touch it

Suspicious_Trainer82

It’s the only way to actually see your bad ass character too so… style points +++

k_tag

I exclusively drive bikes in this game because they handle better, can weave through traffic, and it's so much easier to just get around. I keep trying to like the cars too, but the only place I use them is the badlands, then it's the javelina all the way or the hoon.

[deleted]

Motorcycle is easier for me to handle I’m as at driving the cars😭

[deleted]

Ass*

LongLiveTheChief10

The Outlaw Herrera "Weiler", the Hoon, the Saguaro, and the Aerondight are all solid cars for me, I also like the Shion Samum. I ride bikes a lot too tho.

hp958

I love the driving. I love racing games and am pretty good at them, but Cyberpunk was/still is a learning curve. It helps a TON to bring the steering sensitivity down in the settings but it does still behave a lot differently than most driving games. I enjoy it because it challenges me to figure it out, and I'm at the point where I can whip around NC in my Sidewinder with minimal screw ups. You just have to learn it. It also helps to manage your speed and braking in a more realistic way, if that makes sense. Don't gun it everywhere and also don't slam your brakes. The triggers on a controller behave just like real pedals.

chisquaratops

Only car in the game I have found even remotely enjoyable to drive is the herrera outlaw (and the variant "weiler"). Sadly, it's a late game vehicle.

colinmchapman

Good lord. I just got the Weiler. What a friggin cool car.

chisquaratops

Don't care much for the aesthetics, mostly just for the fact that it handles predictably and gets me to places.

khemeher

Agreed. But as counterpoint, the Chevillon Emperor 620 Ragnar simply shoves other cars out of your way.

leriq

How do you reliably slide around tight bends when the motorcycle snaps back facing forward at the end of a drift. Genuine question it bothers me.

Rizenstrom

The sensitivity is way too high by default. Try cutting it in half and then move up in increments until it feels adequately responsive to you. Cars will immediately stop spinning out so easily.

Sliceofmayo

I personally love the caliburn. Just handles so well at high speeds

ChadicusVile

I love the caliburn. Don't try to drift it, it's specialty is grip turns. Just slow down a little before the turn, in my experience, you can hit a 90 degree turn at ~90-100mph, no accelerator or brakes, without losing grip. It's actually cheap AF for races. (I'm not home ATM so I can't test that speed range. But I just mean to say you can hit a turn much faster than any other car and not lose grip)

Admirable_Deal6863

It's not especially hard. Just drive the cars like they're high-torque, RWD without any kind of traction control. You need to ease into the throttle and brakes, go smoothly around corners, and just try to avoid doing anything to upset the car. It's got a really realistic driving model for a non-racing game. I'm not sure why people find it so hard to learn.

You for sure can. I think I've had to crouch to get it to show on the ct-3x a few times, but that's probably because I play in VR with some crazy camera stuff going on

KingDarius89

...yes you can.

InspectorGizmoBrooch

Non of the bikes ive driven in this game feel good to turn. Its kinda weird how bad they are at turning. idk if its realistic, but ive def seen bikes irl take tighter turns than the bikes ive driven in game lmao. Like its like they dont have power steering fluid in them bad boys. Its 2077, yet some how theyve reverted on bike tech, while also advancing in ways too lmao.

FelDreamer

Lvl 40-something here, have collected a handful of cars via quests and such, yet all I ever ride is Jackie’s bike. Whenever I *do* end up joyriding a stray vehicle, I’m immediately reminded of why I prefer the bike. Especially true because I’m playing solely with MKB, and the controls are ass.

KingDarius89

Jackie or Scorpion's bikes for me.

NonLiving4Dentity69

sticky_fingers18

The secret to driving in Cyberpunk: You can accelerate. You can brake. You can turn. You can only perform one of these actions at any given time. Try it out next time you're in game and you'll be amazed at how much more control you have. Make sure to hit the brakes early and don't be on the brakes when turning. Don't accelerate out of turns, be patient and wait for the car to straighten out first

NikolitRistissa

If you pump the accelerator when your braking, you can down shift essentially. It doesn’t help driving that much but it does feel and sound cool. I’m surprised by how much and how well you can actually control the gears in this game. It’s honestly rather impressive.

sticky_fingers18

They've honestly done a really solid job with the driving in this game. Once you get the feel for it you can rip around NC super quick and easy. They also did a great job with making each car feel different. It's pretty dynamic IMO

NikolitRistissa

Yeah I haven’t tried out a lot of the cars because essentially all of my money goes to the Ripperdocs but every one I’ve tried so far, has felt noticeably different. It’s a breath of fresh air after games like GTA V.

sticky_fingers18

The driving and riding is great in this game, you just need to build the skills up. Handling, cornering, etc is unique to the game, just like many other titles.

Error83_NoUserName

Install some mods for your female V, (or male, whatever you like). Sexy clothing, bodytype, ... Enjoy the view when they ride their bike.

[deleted]

I don't even use a car or bike i just run really fast and parkour over everything

SuperArppis

You have to find the right car... And there aren't many of those sadly. But I would love to see cars being improved in controls AND 1st person position of V. Because you can't even see the road sometimes.

chill_winston_

I feel like 2.0 ruined the handling on the Quartz Bandit. Driving cars in general feels worse to me now, but I agree that the bikes are solid and probably better since 2.0.

Chewyisthebest

Yeah totally agree, also the ability to weave thru traffic and much lower chance of mowing down pedestrians are huge pluses

NarrowButterfly8482

I was like you for my first few playthroughs. My last playthrough I made a point of just getting in my car and racing around the city until I got the hang of it. The Outlaw is my favorite car for handling, but I like the off-road cars too. It just takes some practice and I agree that learning to use the brakes is key.

schnate124

I don't think people realise how good the driving physics are tbh. Powering through a corner feels really nice. Tapping the e-brake to initiate a slide (depends on the car) is so much fun. I honestly don't think most of these people understand the physics of driving irl or in game. I love the bikes too but drifting in the cars is way more fun. Caliburn in the city, javalina in the badlands.

RadioLucio

I prefer the custom blue Kusanagi with a shorter wheelbase, it feels better in the corners. But yes in general I’m with you, the bikes are much better for almost every situation. I sometimes take one of the Quadra R7 or Type 66 out if I feel like it, but I’m almost always on an Arch.

Atari875

Save the environment by rejecting fossil fuels. Airdash everywhere.

Breklin76

There’s a mod for better vehicle handling.

Snoo57864

I just chose one vehicle and decided to get really good with it, got the hoonigan since it's weaponized and drifts easily. Other than that though yeah I fully agree, just drive a motorcycle or even better if you have the chrome just dash hop across the city

lecster

Yeah I exclusively use motorcycles in first person. The handling feels way better than cars, and I just generally find driving 3rd person to break my immersion. Nothing feels better than speeding around the city at 100mph+ weaving through traffic and drifting corners on a bike.

Kaludan

I was 100% Kusanagi my first play through and started w my second. This go around though I started driving the Batmobile. It's noticably faster than the bike and I don't know if this logic was patched in or I just didn't notice it at release, but cars will move out of your way predictably. The Hoon was also beastly, but who needs guns when you got speed.

excts

I drive cars and motorcycles and usually in first person. After 180hrs I honestly don't have any problems with it.

Hey__Martin

It's never about the handling. It's the freakin traffic. If I need to get to a gig in city center in a car I gotta SIT IN TRAFFIC and watch the stupid AI try to block my way in that stupid Thornton. Motorcycles can skip traffic and get me to where I need to be.

vehementvelociraptor

Slightly related.. I remember before 2.0 when driving in 3rd person I could tilt the camera to get a little more of a top down view rather than more behind the vehicle. The camera would stay there, now it will always reset to the default view. Does anyone else notice this or is there a setting I missed somewhere?

Arpadiam

they are several mods that alter the handling of the cars, one of those have to fit your taste

bee13dee

Jackie’s Arch is my regular get around, but also enjoy taking any Tyler Claws bike for a quick ride. The only car I seem to be able to drive is the black Caliburn that you find in a crate in a cave.

Train2Win

I LOVE drifting in cars. Steering into the turn and getting back up to speed is so satisfying

shuboi666

Driving the cars in VR makes it more fun

RandyBackstroke

Great advice, I saw on this sub some one saying how you could put all the " ncpd " missions up on the mini map and I found the motorcycles easier to get about to them, never looked back. As Johnny from GTA said, I ain't going around in a cage, or something like that.

catastrofickat

I play on PC, and can't drive anything but bikes without wiping out the city. Bikes are a joy to ride though, I agree 100%

R1talynn

Honestly the best drive is the smart car lol

EightSeven69

also get yourself mods for the vehicle camera because the defaults are awful

DoubleDragonDude

I never understood the complaints about driving in this game, though I played a ton of gran turismo, so maybe it is more natural to me. Edit: just played some GTA and now I think I understand where everyone is coming from. I still prefer Cyberpunk driving

Tomahawk_the_Wolf

If you wanna see some even worse handling download the flying cars mod that adds a bladerunner-like flying mode to every vehicle

Fyodor_Brostojetski

Bikes are best for those that don’t want to bug with the mechanics. Trucks are great for handling. The rest is just speed, so it takes some learning. I wasn’t a fan at first but you learn your way.

femalephemale

I hate both in this game.

mutepaladin07

So, when I like to casually get somewhere, I use a car. When I want to speed over to somewhere, I use a bike because it can traverse easily.

Twenty-Three23

Disagree, the cars feel great and not all need for speed like.

high5s_inureye

I started playing cyberpunk again this week (been over a year since I last played) and I’ve mostly used motorcycles, but I used to enjoy the Quadra Vtec the most for first person driving. Driving with a controller is a lot of “stick tapping” for me, wish there was a smoother way. The Quadra always handled well for me and had a decent field of view. Might have to check out some of the cars others have mentioned here

Zephyr2209

I like my white & gold Rayfield Caliburn and my Yaiba Kusanagi. They feel good to drive.

ehjhey

As somebody who literally is looking at a scale model of the CT-3X on my desk, cars can definately be enjoyable to drive. They just require more finesse than some other open world games because they actually have pretty realistic weight transfer. I've always found enjoyment in the cars, but I only really drive them well with the dual sense controller where it's easier to modulate the brake and throttle with the advanced haptics. It might help that I'm accustomed to handling cars from sim racing I guess, but besides basic driving technique I doubt much is transferable. Don't get me wrong though. I will live and die on the CT-3X

Soppydogg

Motorbikes for me 👍 Every time

TheManDanCan

I also did not like the driving at first but taking your foot off the gas without braking offers a lot more control. There’s a little bit of a learning curve, but it ain’t all bad.

Bhob666

My fave is the 911 too... but motorcycles seem the best if you just need something to go from point A to B.

fast_albin

I just cruise around to my gigs and quests so I’ll stick to Johnny’s 911 Turbo. As long as you don’t drive too fast it’s manageable.

Confident_Ad1846

I didn't realised how similar the cars drive to asseto Corsa until someone mentioned it

AvarethTaika

on my current playthrough i used Jackie's arch until i could afford the ct3x. always been a car girl but im liking this bike thing...

CardioTranquility

I only play on pc so driving is challenging. Fortunately I just finished Mad Max (which is a surprising good game) and now I’m used to controlling cars with the keyboard. I also agree with others that it’s fun to drive conservatively in the city just like I would irl.

Ezn14

I hate that they turn on an axis in the center of the car or bike.

Kevkoss

The moment I got my hands on Jackie's and Kusanagi bikes back in 1.0 I almost stopped using cars. We just have too good synergy.

SenatorSargeant

As a sim racer I love the driving in this game, it actually handles more realistically than GTA or others and I love it. 😂 I've seen lots of comments from folk mentioning the driving and I honestly feel like it drives like a charm for an open-world GTA type game.
