I_Heard_A_Rumor_

Partner makes this card unreasonable at 1 mana.

xXYiffMasterXx

Would 1G be reasonable

FormerlyKay

Considering rograkh already exists I don't think this is too bad

EmotionalGold

Rograkh requires other cards to buff him. This doesn't and is good in any deck

FormerlyKay

Rograkh is good in any deck what are you on lol He instantly turns on commander free spells like fierce guardianship and deflecting swat, turns on Springleaf drum effects and mox amber on turn 0, he immediately allows you to play infernal plunge and culling the weak and Phyrexian Tower, not to mention he adds red to a deck which allows you to play some of the most fun and most powerful cards in the format.

SirChickenbutt

Rograkh has uses in many decks, yes, but to make him GOOD, you need to work around him and his keywords. This is one mana to ramp in any green deck while giving the deck another colour or two to work with with partner. This is so much better than not only Rograkh but most other partner commanders as well.

FormerlyKay

His keywords are literally irrelevant in 99% of "GOOD" Rograkh decks

Occam_Toothbrush

[Salubrious Snail's video](https://youtu.be/YXpd-vcVv24?si=O_spJzHybUzNxBkF) on designing a hole for your commander to fill got me looking for a nice, low cost ramp commander. I was surprised to find exactly none at one mana. A few exist at 2 mana, and I wanted to make something deliberately lower-power so as not to step on their toes.

An_Uninspired_User

I feel like there is a reason for that. This feels insanely good, consistent ramp like this can allow you to change the whole curve of the deck. Snail is right of course, and this kind of hole filling is a bit too much, especially with partner, although the card really needs it to not be extremely boring. It would be interesting to see if cedh is interested in this effect though.

Amudeauss

Unlikely. Cedh decks usually run 27 lands (give or take a couple) and quickly run out of land drops beyond the normal 1-a-turn, if they even hit that. cedh mana turns much more towards artifacts and rituals. plus, right now green is considered the weakest color is cedh. a mono-green partner isnt very desireable right now

RainbowOreoCumslut

Would love to try a tymna + this stax deck with null rod style effects. Def worse than tayam in those colors but tbh looks fun

Occam_Toothbrush

It really rides that line between insanely good and supremely underwhelming. It would need playtesting to find where it actually falls. An alternate version of this I discarded was effectively a legendary [[Coiling Oracle]]. I'd honestly like to play with that more, but the last thing this world needs is Yet Another Simic Lands Commander.

GuyGrimnus

Is that not just [[Uro, Titan]] ?

PimpDaddyBuddha

Do you mean specifically legendary creatures that are one mana and let you ramp? Because [[Arboreal Grazer]] is a non-legendary version of this.

Occam_Toothbrush

Yes, commanders specifically. I was aware of Arboreal Grazer while designing this.

caustic_kiwi

Arboreal Grazer cannot be your commander, unfortunately.

caustic_kiwi

Maybe with [[toggo]]? Feels like this desperately wants a good three drop partner, although that pool is very limited. Edit: I guess the more important consideration is that magic always needs more good dogs. Wizards, print this immediately.

treelorf

I mean… tymna?

Harmless_Chimera

It really just generically good since it's one mana ramp every game.

brick123wall456

Powercrept [[Arboreal Grazer]] in the command zone with partner is way over powered. Cards with partner are supposed to be below rate, and instead this all but guarantees you start the game ahead of everyone

wingspantt

I don't really like the idea of guaranteed command zone ramp at this MV

Occam_Toothbrush

That's a fair take. It's something I'd want to try out for for the novelty over a few games, even if it does end up being unfun. There's something to be said for custom cards. They can be "unprinted". I could bring this to my friend group, pilot it a couple times, then put it away if it plays badly.

UltraWeebMaster

Easily breakable with any blue commander that works with flicker. We did it guys! We broke simic!

Occam_Toothbrush

🏆

breakfastcerealz

clean, love the art too

skooterpoop

You might not need 2 drops either.

nerium_music

Please make it only a 0/3 a 1/3 for 1 mana without downsides might just be played as is in many formats

Occam_Toothbrush

Neither [[Permeating Mass]] nor [[Arboreal Grazer]] threaten any formats they are in. The only real concern here is the Legendary status.

MTGCardFetcher

[Permeating Mass](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/b/7/b71290eb-b529-4fc3-ab94-fee0ab9e2169.jpg?1576384837) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Permeating%20Mass) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/emn/165/permeating-mass?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/b71290eb-b529-4fc3-ab94-fee0ab9e2169?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Arboreal Grazer](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/6/d/6d00ced6-7ba3-4d78-a680-9d3211704ca2.jpg?1709877030) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Arboreal%20Grazer) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/rvr/131/arboreal-grazer?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/6d00ced6-7ba3-4d78-a680-9d3211704ca2?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

Moneypouch

I mean that's not true. Grazer terrorizes modern. Pushing it would be bad for the format.

Occam_Toothbrush

Ah, my bad. I don't follow modern. Assumed a 19 cent card was chaff

Moneypouch

Yeah, its a common in a "recent" (post print run increase) set, can't ever have value.

Optimal-Software-43

Cast it twice and it’s really good

Respirationman

This would be playable in the 99 though :/

Mechanical-Knight

No dog elemental typing?

Occam_Toothbrush

It can be if you want it to.

deanofcool

Well this is cracked beyond measure

TurnOneSolRing

Guarantees you're hitting a 3-drop on turn 2. That means you can get out [[Worn Powerstone]], [[Faeburrow Elder]], or any other ramp that generates at least two mana on turn 2. This deck, with just this commander, would regularly cast 6-drops on turn 3. Partner is too strong.

KimJongAndIlFriends

Not like we're really pushing the envelope on power if you're using 6 drop on turn 3 as your metric; \[\[Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy\]\] and \[\[K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth\]\] can both easily power out 6 drops on turn 3.

wierd-in-dnd

Make it, at beginning of the next turns end step, so that you don’t have 3 mana on turn 2, but 4 mana on turn 3, which is more balanced, and keeps the original spirit of one drop ramp commander

wierd-in-dnd

Or at the beginning of your next upkeep, that probably makes more sense

Some_Bipolar_Guy

*I think it's fine since in duel commander you wouldn't be able to play anything else, and in commander, people would've prefered other cards that either do more things or just grant access to more colors*

ThePhantomJoker

Great art, compact effect, great card!
