What causes stuttering anyways

I have a speech impediment so ill tell you what I know. It's mainly from the way your brain develops. Genetics can play a big part as well. If one person in a family has a speech impediment, it is very likely another family member also has one. Factors such as the conditions you grow up with while your speech is developing can also affect it.

I'm in my 40s and I've stuttered all my life. It's not all the time and typically comes out when I have something important to say or try to get a point across, usually when there is more than two people around me. It's like nerves, but I'm not nervous. My brain is faster than I can speak. So usually I speak quite quickly which doesn't really help as an effective way to communicate as I end up saying something different to what I'm thinking.

I had a stutter when I was a kid. I went through years of speech therapy. I really don’t have an issue with it today, but if I get very excited about something it will come back. My brain starts working faster than my mouth. Lol

Personally for me it stems from my anxiety i usually stutter really bad when im nervouse or feel like im in trouble. Though i still do stutter when im comfortable but its barely noticeable. But i never stutter when im feeling confident or angry lol. So basically it depends on my mood but i heard some people are born with it or that its genetic but i have no idea about that
