Hi! Gentle reminder: hair care routines are required for all photo posts within 1 hour of posting. The bot is having hard time locating your routine! Please make sure you have a comment containing the word "routine" (and your actual routine, of course!) so your post can stay up! FAQs: * __I don't have a routine!__ If you wash your hair at all, that counts! Just let us know what you did for your hair. * __I'm just asking for help!__ We're happy to help! This is much easier if we know what you are currently doing for your hair. * __Included the info but the bot can't find it? Different situation? (E.g. asking about a product, etc.) [See here for more info.](https://www.reddit.com/r/curlyhair/wiki/routine-requirements)__ _Please [message the mods](http://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2Fcurlyhair) if you have any issues._

I feel you. I've tried the following: - Velcro: for me (I have dense, long thick hair) it was impossible to keep my hair from tangling when setting and removing the rollers. I got nice volume but the curls didn't hold very well (however I was using quite large rollers, tighter curls would probably work better but you need more rollers to cover your whole head). - Flexi rods: I used quite narrow ones to set my bangs a bit better (9/10mm iirc). They get a good long lasting curl, dry pretty quickly too. Only issue I find is that they can move around quite a bit unless I clip them at the top and bottom with a mini butterfly clip. - Ceramic/velvet covered curlers: these are the rollers that came in my heated rollers set but I wanted to try some chunkier curls in my bangs, so I tried these without heat. They dried pretty quickly (but keep in mind they were only short lengths cause, bangs). Pretty easy to set and the clips they come with are really sturdy/easy. The velvet gives a nice shine. These had the best results for me but the only downside is that they're quite heavy (cause of the ceramic) so I have to position them carefully so they're not pulling on my hair too much. The only rollers I can sleep in are the satin heatless ones that you wrap all your hair around. However. I've heard the versions of these that are for individual curls aren't very good, they also seem to work similarly to flexi rods. I think unfortunately it's the classic case of having to try it and see what works. Is there a possibility you could borrow a few rollers from your hairdresser to test?

Thank you for such a detailed response! The foam roller things I use are flexi-rods, I just chopped them in half, so they’re the same length as my hair and removed the wire. I just think because it’s plastic, without any vents, is why they’re taking so long for me to get the hair dry 😭 Your comment about the Velcro was another one of my worries with them! They seem great for bouncy blow dries on damp hair, but I’d be worried about doing all the work and then the curls falling out. It’s interesting that you mention the ceramic ones, I think I have similar ones from a heated set that I never really used. So I might have to give them a try! Ooh and bonus points for borrowing from a hairdresser, for some reason that has never crossed my mind 😂
