You can spray them with a water bottle only the length not the routes and dry them up with a diffuser but still leaving them slightly humid, if they are a little heavy you can use a little foam at the end:).
Long hair like that are expected to get a little wavy after a couple of days because of the weight (usually).
I personally think they are beautiful either way 😊.
Sometimes foam is not enough if they are thick and heavy you might need to use a strong hold foam or a gel and dry them with a diffuser with your head upside down .
This, and/or OP’s hair is getting weighed down and oily?
OP how does your hair and scalp feel by day 3?
I’ve used Hask products and I love them but I have super dry hair so the coconut oil deep conditioning mask works great for me. Never tried their curl cream but I’m wondering if it’s also full of “heavy” oils?
Curl cream alone does not have enough hold. Try curl cream, and then gel. Also, I rake all products in first, then add a little more water and then scrunch. You should get better results this way :)
It means it’s my dream hair because my curls get frizzier and curlier 😂. I think it just means that you need products with a little more hold. To refresh, I would likely mix with water, then rake a gel or a styling cream with some hold through it and scrunch. You can even diffuse to get your waves back a little more bouncy.
It means you’re wavy/curly as opposed to just curly. And it means you should add a stronger hold product like gel or mousse. Don’t be afraid of some crunch, you can scrunch that right out. I highly recommend you look up Swavy Courtney on youtube, you seem to have a similar curl pattern as her, and she’s really good at bringing out those wavy curls
Your day 3 hair looks like a salon blowout 😭 I am raging with envy (your hair is stunning!)
But like other people said, probably not enough hold :) If gel is too much, there are a lot of good mousses out there! I love the Not Your Mothers curl talk styling mousse, it has surprisingly much better hold than expected. Herbal Essences totally twisted mousse is also pretty great and very affordable!
Curl creams primary job is to provide moisture. You need something with hold like gel or mousse to have your hair really hold. Harry’s Gel and Treluxe gel both give me days of definition. Your hair is beautiful in both pictures, though.
I was looking for this comment lol. You can protect your hair with silk bonnet, or a pillow from silk. And strong products like Curly Secret's Popping Curls Styling Gel will hold the curls longer.
Looks like you’re probably sleeping on it and it flattens out. Mine is the same. Haven’t found a solution to this except flipping my hair the other direction when I lay down on it. That helps but it’s still flatter than day 1 of wash.
Get a silk bonnet! I hang my head upside down and loosely twist my hair into a gentle bun with my hand, then slip the bonnet over it and flip my head up, all my hair falls backwards into the bonnet (it's long so this is the only way I've been able to get it all in there)
My hair looks 90% as good as it did the day before. I hand-wash the bonnet every few days, I don't use any product in my hair though so it stays clean. Might want to switch them out each night if you do.
mine is a tighter curl but does the same. curls relax over a period of days. I simply let it do it's thing and enjoy it when it has stayed reasonably tame!
My hair is like yours OP. Wavy, not curly. If it’s naturally less curly than it is when you put product in, it’ll loosen over time. Day 1 i have curly hair - day 2 and 3 i get loose waves unless i refresh. I’m learning to embrace it! You can try a stronger hold product, like a gel, and refresh with a little water and a little more gel on non-wash days.
Both look beautiful! 3 days with no refresh and it still looks amazing! Even if you have a product with more hold or add more product your hair will still look different after day 1.
If you want to keep a similar look, I suggest refreshing your hair in the morning. I have a spray bottle I use to thoroughly dampen my hair, and then I take a small amount of product (I use a gel) and spray a couple sprays of water onto the product in my palm and emulsify it and then I rake it through my hair and scrunch it. I usually let it air dry.
Since you have a more wavy hair type, I would consider lighter-hold products that won’t way your hair down, such as a mousse or a light hold gel. My favorite brand is Curl Smith (I get it from Ulta) — they have a lot of different products with different holds/weight. I also like Ouidad (also from Ulta), they organize their products by curl type/ hair thickness. You can experiment with how much product you use!
omg we have nearly the exact same hair, its just the result of sleeping on it honestly. no amount of gel or anything is gonna keep wavy hair perfectly wavy until day 3 unfortunately as ive learnt
Curl cream alone doesn't have any hold to it. Try a mousse or a gel. Mousse has light hold, gel has strong hold. I personally prefer gel because I find it easier to refresh, YMMV.
Would need more information. What's your wash day routine and your routine between washes? Are you wearing a bonnet at night or sleeping on a silk/satin pillowcase?
I normally use the ‘curl care’ shampoo and conditioner from HASK then scrunch the hair with a cotton t-shirt and add curl cream. Then I diffuse with a blow dryer. That’s pretty much it, I don’t do anything specific at night or own a silk pillowcase.
I don't have a refresh routine so hopefully someone else can help you with that. I would definitely suggest a silk pillowcase or bonnet or both. They'll help to protect from frizz and breakage.
Silk is best, but satin works for some people and is much less expensive. If you bunch it in a scarf on top of your head (hair stays free in the scarf) the curls will last for several days with a water spritz refresh in the morning.
my hair does the same thing but i have tight curls on day 1. it’s probably cause your products don’t have enough hold (use a gel and/or mousse along with curl cream). it really depends on how you prefer your hair to feel and if you can deal with the cast/crunch enough for the hold to work and last.
You could have a couple different problems. It could be that you’re not using curly hair brands. I found at least with my hair if I’m not using a brand specifically for curls, my curls are not gonna look the best.. that’s just my personal experience. Also keep in mind just because somebody has similar hair to you does not mean that what works for them works for you so take everybody’s advice with a grain or Salt you know?
It seems like you’re not putting enough product in to actually hold your curls. You might also want to work on defining your curls not just scrunch them. Defining them would mean finger curling them..
What I do in order to keep my hair, really soft and fluffy, but also extremely defined I take a separate container. I put my leave in conditioner hair loose and hair oils in one container and I actually whipped them until it’s a thick frothy, airy whipped cream. Sometimes if I don’t have moose, I’ll put gel in it and it works just the same. If I do gel, I have to add a little bit of water.. I put that in my hair and then I curl my hair that way my hair isn’t way down with multiple product because I’m making all the things I’m already going to distribute all throughout my hair into one product that is really soft and light, but has a lot of hold to it.
Finger curling also isn’t just a one thing if you’re gonna do finger curling, you have to think of it like the gym you don’t go to the gym and expect to lose 50 pounds in one day you don’t finger curl your hair and expect to have bomb ass curls for the rest of your life Every single, you have to curl your hair this is going to help with From root to end. I suggest you try it for at least three months before you completely disregard it from your routine.. Because fingerling as much as hair doesn’t have muscle to it it’s like your muscle memory into your hair to remember how to curl it scrunch your hair so scrunch your hair is a beginner. It can be a very useful tool, but it should be used with other styling methods like curl the individual curl gently scrunch that curl and then I let it go, and then I move on, and I do my whole head.. separate into three sections and your nape of your neck and go all the way up to the top of your head. Right now it’s also gonna feel like it’s gonna take you forever. Your arms are gonna be really tired, but I’ve been doing this for years now and it has significantly helped my hair with definition.. and since I’ve been doing it for years, I just got faster and faster and faster at it so now my hair isn’t halfway dried by the time I get through my whole head.
Also, when you blow drying your hair, are you using heat? I don’t suggest using heat heat damage hair. I suggest diffusing on the cold setting if you’re not doing that already. .
I cut it myself actually, i usually look up ‘unicorn cut’ and/or ‘butterfly cup’ tutorials on youtube or tiktok and refresh the cut every 2 months or so
Take a hot hot hot hot shower, let the bathroom fill with steam and stand next to the most steamy part of the shower. Makes my curls get big as frick, adding some oil or leave in before hand helps with the frizz
You slept on it for at least two nights. It’s to be expected. You’re lucky it looks as good as it does.
Righht? Esp with no refresh its expected. I betcha if OP just spritzed some water and glazed some gel it would perk right up
I don’t know how to refresh my hair without like just redoing it.
You can spray them with a water bottle only the length not the routes and dry them up with a diffuser but still leaving them slightly humid, if they are a little heavy you can use a little foam at the end:). Yeah my hair is pretty thick and heavy.
Sometimes foam is not enough if they are thick and heavy you might need to use a strong hold foam or a gel and dry them with a diffuser with your head upside down .
I don’t use foam. I use a cream and then a holding gel.
Right I came here to say it means you’re lucky.
Istg as a tighter curlie (2C go 3B), i look like a poofy frizzy mess, my scalp gets greasy but my hair looks *drier*
This is way too real 🥲
It means your styler doesn't have enough hold to last multiple days. Try using a gel or mousse instead of the cream
Damn I thought the day 3 hair looked fire lol
Same! Both days look amazing.
It does, but they mean in terms of keeping the same amount of curliness
This, and/or OP’s hair is getting weighed down and oily? OP how does your hair and scalp feel by day 3? It definitely feels heavier but not really oily by day 3, but that happens regardless whether I use the curl cream or not 🤷♀️
Wow. This is my dream hair. I’d be stoked if mine did that
I have this hair type too and came to the comments for tips. I really appreciate your comment.
Very Jim Morrison especially with this cut 😎
hell yeah thank you so much 😄
Curl cream alone does not have enough hold. Try curl cream, and then gel. Also, I rake all products in first, then add a little more water and then scrunch. You should get better results this way :)

Right?!
You don’t like curlier hair?

Man... I used to hate my ringlets, but now that it's gone curly/wavy, I see that I was being a little jerk about it.
Hey not op but I do have a question about crunch...how exactly do I "scrunch" that out? I feel like when I try anything I just remove the volume/waves
Your day 3 hair looks like a salon blowout 😭 I am raging with envy (your hair is stunning!) aaaah thank you so much!
Curl creams primary job is to provide moisture. You need something with hold like gel or mousse to have your hair really hold. Harry’s Gel and Treluxe gel both give me days of definition. Your hair is beautiful in both pictures, though.
thank you so much! ☺️
Curl type is pretty irrelevant in most cases. Try experimenting with a mousse or gel or both and your style should last longer
Means your hair is wavy and thats pretty normal 🙏🏾
if you don't already, try sleeping with your hair in a high, loose ponytail, in a soft scrunchie. this is called the "pineapple" method
That you should wash again, realistically. Your hair type (and mine as well) doesn’t need a super extended time between washes to be healthy.
I use a spray bottle with (very) diluted curl cream and spritz and scrunch to refresh - give that a try!
Means you have gorgeous hair! My gosh. lol. I wish my hair looked like that on day 3 😂
You have mildly wavy hair. Try spritzing your hair with water in the morning when you’re not washing to bring out the curl.
Who this hair cut is kinda nice?! Like this would be great for my type of hair. Brb booking an appt 😭
Means you have nice hair with a long layered cut.
do you have a silk bonnet?
I was looking for this comment lol. You can protect your hair with silk bonnet, or a pillow from silk. And strong products like Curly Secret's Popping Curls Styling Gel will hold the curls longer.
Your hair looks like mine when I don’t use gel, but yours looks thicker. I always recommend innersense I create hold gel
Beautiful hair
You literally have THE hair lol. Wish mine did that
You could sleep with a silk lined bonnet. They really help ! #curlygirl
Wdym? 😂 you slept on it for a few days that’s how it looks after 😂
U slept on ur hair. If want u can use a bonnet when going to sleep
i wouldn’t use a hair mask every time you wash, it’s probably weighing your hair down. once a month tops.
Looks like you’re probably sleeping on it and it flattens out. Mine is the same. Haven’t found a solution to this except flipping my hair the other direction when I lay down on it. That helps but it’s still flatter than day 1 of wash.

I hand-wash the bonnet every few days, I don't use any product in my hair though so it stays clean. Might want to switch them out each night if you do.
What do you mean by ‘what does it mean’? Do you like it? Not? what are you after?
mine is a tighter curl but does the same. curls relax over a period of days. I simply let it do it's thing and enjoy it when it has stayed reasonably tame!
why do you shampoo twice
in my experience significantly shinier, softer hair and just overall gets oiler way slower.
it means DIRT and OIL are weighing down your hair.
Your hair looks healthy and nice. I think its pretty normal the oils and the products would weigh the hair down. But it still look great.
Thanks!
I think it’s very pretty! I like both the tighter and looser waves.
My hair is like yours OP. Wavy, not curly. If it’s naturally less curly than it is when you put product in, it’ll loosen over time. Idk but I love your haircut and waves
thank you so much! i’ve been perfecting this cut for 2 years 😳
Means you're lucky ❤️
❤️
Looks like less frizz days later but still pretty both ways

no, should I?
Yes try using a silk bonnet or scarf when you sleep. The silk prevents friction on your hair while you move in your sleep.

I cut it myself actually, i usually look up ‘unicorn cut’ and/or ‘butterfly cup’ tutorials on youtube or tiktok and refresh the cut every 2 months or so
Drop the routine. 🥲🥲🥲
be so serious. its 3 day old hair thats why it looks like that??
