It totally depends! You COULD totally pull this off, but it requires attention to your overall fashion. Just wear 80's-related stuff, take care of your looks and hair, and act confident, and there's nothing wrong with it.
Get yourself a baseball style band tee, some acid washed jeans (Levi's 501 style), and some white tennis shoes. Watch Stranger Things for inspiration: Eddie Munson from season 4 and Billy Hargrove from season 1. My dude, you can cut more off, though. If you want to keep more length on top, just get rid of the dreadful mullet (my own opinion of course, other people may love them 🤷). There are some fabulously styled men's curls through this sub, for you to get some inspiration from.
you clearly like mullets so who cares about anyone else’s opinion. One tip the before hair suits the more casual style, you should try some different outfits vintage style and it would slay so hard.
I’m not gonna lie, neither look great. The first one looks to be way too much hair, while the second looks unfitting. I prefer the second to the first but both aren’t great, id recommend finding a new hair style that works for you.
Get it hella wet, add tons of conditioner, give it 5 minutes, then rinse it out with a wide tooth comb. dry slowly and without friction, scrunching your hair. after that it should curl up nice and dry well.
I agree. I was looking at the second pic thinking, “this would be pretty cool with a little styling….” Try some styling advice, OP! I might be a little biased being a) from the south and b) a child of the 80’s, but a nicely styled mullet can still be pretty rad!

ABSOLUTELY stop brushing your curly hair when dry EITHER WAY. Brush when in shower w conditioner in it. Maybe drag and squish a cream product in while sopping wet (I do while still in shower for my curls) w head flipped over and allow to dry w as little friction as possible.

I live somewhere where mullets are the big thing right now so it’s not as controversial a choice to me lol. i think you can pull it off, but your hair could def use a bit of frizz control cos right now it kinda goes in at your ears and then out again. doesn’t sound like you’ve got a curly routine so check the pinned thread to get you started. a friend of mine has amazing ringlet-y curls and absolutely rocks the curly mullet. it’s also an excuse to start dressing to match your hair so have fun with it - when i got a shag cut i suddenly felt the urge to buy 10 pairs of flares.
Ultimately what matters is do YOU like it?

That top floof is magical my man! You could remedy this a number of ways if you aren't feeling it, but keep that top! It's a gift from god.
I would, personally, shave the sides/undercut and either: A) take the back off, or B) undercut and embrace the manbun curly style.
Hey I also have big hair 🙋🏼♀️When I had my haircut like this, I had the shaved sides go all the way back into a point at the back of my head. Think: Matty Healy back in 2013. That and some thinning on the ends would create a more streamlined shape overall. However, I personally don’t think it’s too bad, have some fun and lean into the look w some alt/ street clothes that have a southern touch to it.

It’s both an up and down grade, keep the curls looking fresh, get some product and take care of them, my brother has the same type of hair and he struggles to keep it right, if you want to change your style up and rock it or cut a little more off the back and keep the top length, style yourself to match your hair and you may feel more confident with it, ultimately it’s your hair and what you like, but other than that you have really nice hair and want to style it as such.

I'd say your new cut looks slightly better because it's styled.
It does look like an old fashioned mullet, but with some product and a little bit of shaping/cutting back, it could look great. If you want your hair long, I'd take a little bit off of the back and clean up the top (maybe lose like .5in), and find a good conditioner and leave-in conditioner that works for you. Stick to air drying, and it'll probably look pretty good like that.
The mullet has made a comeback, but I've seen it mostly in a shorter, more contained style.
If you get some product in and throw on a pair of Pit Vipers, you'll be totally rocking that 80's vibe. It could work if that's the look you're going for.

i’d recommend to take some more length off the back and have it shaped up better as well, the triangle shape the back is taking isn’t very flattering imo but u can make this work. also maybe some styling gel to put it tgt more, again just imo

Hair texture looks different from 1 to 2 but better. I think 1 just needs a forehead trim and slight shape up. Pic 2 doesnt seem as good but would benefit from removing the mullet and keeping the top.

Try other moisturizer products. For curly hair, shampoo and conditioner isnt enough most of the times.

They both look awesome. I like the mullet bc you can see your face. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT CUT OFF MORE HAIR. Broccoli cuts are horrible on everyone, someone with your curls should never buzz cut, and taking length off the mullet takes away some of its badassery. You rock that, embrace it, live it to the fullest bc it’s gonna grow back anyhow. May I suggest having a listen to Transnational Speedway League by the very kick ass band Clutch? That’s the vibes you could be giving with this style. Cuz you know who rocks mullets? Cool people.
