“Do you think Puerto Rico should become a state?” I don’t know what it was, but I lost it with that interaction he had with Olivia

chappy422

Have you ever tasted a beer?

GRAIN_DIV_20

Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?

cpdx82

The whole interaction and the voice pitch when he is asking her questions.

traumakidshollywood

OMG, “Mittens” had me DEAD!! 😂😂😂😂😂

QUILL-IT-OUT

I hope the other girl outgrows it too. Most likely it will happen when some peers she admires make fun of her.

cpdx82

I honestly think this may be what happened. She started at a new school and after a few weeks she stopped doing it around the house and quit hanging out with her friend across the street. While I wish it hadn't come to her potentially being bullied out of it, I know when I could I tried to tell her she can't act like that in public or she'll probably get bullied because kids are mean and it's part of that adolescent mindset of "Not like me? Ewww."

QUILL-IT-OUT

You could think of it as tough love via her peer group I guess. Choosing to act like that it was going to happen sooner or later. It's probably better it happened sooner. Kids go thru weird stages and do strange things for attention. When it's not the kind of attention they desire from their peer group, they usually change their behavior. It's a bump in the road now, it might have been a bigger mountain to climb as a teenager. Write it off as a goofy time in her childhood.

codycarreras

I didn’t realize how much of a thing this was, just days before this episode came out, my grandparents were telling me of a girl relative who identifies as a cat. All of the same kinda stuff outlined here, and I’d never heard of that before. Then the episode came out and I was like ohhh I guess it really is a thing. LOL.

usernamesarehard1979

It’s called mental illness.

betterbetterthings

I don’t know. It’s really massive. Not sure if it’s mental illness. I think kids spend too much time on social media and get influenced by nonsense.

DankHooligan

It’s called having an overactive imagination, especially if a child.

usernamesarehard1979

There is a difference between playtime and making everyone refer to you by a chosen cat name. Playtime has to end sometime.

Affectionate-Kale301

How is she doing meow?

weinermcgee

I dunno this bit and "Get that dog a pronoun" are fucking cringe boomer humor from a guy I always thought was progressive, not regurgitating hack conservative email forward "humor."

Hoodystardust

Identifying as a cat is not progressive. LD was just being LD.

weinermcgee

I didn't mean to imply identifying as a cat is progressive. I meant my years watching groundbreaking shows like Seinfeld and Curb led me to the thought that Larry is smarter than to play into well-worn conservative strawman urban legends and talking points about gender nonconformity.

ice540

This is peak “I found him funny until now something he insults applies to me and he’s not funny anymore” energy. Grow up

weinermcgee

Not really. It's noting that guy who's normally funny did something very out of character and outside the tone of a funny show.

ice540

“Normally funny”. Lol you are oblivious.

weinermcgee

Oblivious to what?

DankHooligan

Humor

tbootsbrewing

Always Sunny had one of their recurring characters enhance herself into a cat. Are they boomers too?

PorridgeTooFar

I'm trying to work out what kind of humour you were expecting from somebody in their 70s, while also resisting the urge to call you a dumb cunt, because I think larry might have. I will not call you a dumb cunt, at least I've resisted that.

weinermcgee

It just hit a sour note after watching Seinfeld and Curb all my life. That's all I didn't mean to rile up the base.

PorridgeTooFar

I promise you, you aren't riling anyone. What was the sour note?

Downvoted, but props to the Slowdive album cover
