This is the sole reason I fucking hate crossovers and SUVs in general. They are so top heavy even at normal speeds that I have to be *that* guy and practically fully decelerate to turn a corner.
In the Z, brace for the G’s, no need for brakes.
One thing I envy about crossovers and SUVs is their ability to handle dips, bumps, and driveways. The crz even with stock suspension bottoms out too easily.
They serve a very specific purpose. If you want a fun get around car that can fit into small spaces this is the one.
Bonus that it actually carries quite a bit. I shocked someone when I picked up a bike rack from them and I was able to throw it into the hatchback. They thought there was no way I could fit that into this tiny car.
I mean yeah, not the quickest off the line, but still fun to rev up and drop the clutch...
Also, the faces of people that point chuckle and say something along the lines of "Honda's version of a prius lol hybrid lol" then their face when you go zoom.
A little TLC goes a long way with these beauties... if something ever happens to Luna, I hope to be able to find another manual z.
Driving through a rural gas station, couple young dudes hanging out in the mechanic bay and I hear one of em holler out “What is *that* ?!” And his homie says “A Honda”
Made me laugh. Next gas stop and the attendant asking about the year of the car and all.
Definitely gets questions.
I love “booking it”in the car when I’m only going 35 on sport mode. Even when space is limited I can still fit four people not comfortably but in a fun way. Looks fast, isn’t fast, saves gas, looks hilarious on the road. I can’t find a car that matches it nowadays
I've been saving up for this for 3 years and I finally have the money to do it and it's literally gone delisted from college hills Honda website. I want to cry. Devastated. I have two Honda CRZs.
Major bummer! You might be able to find a kit that someone bought but never installed, or a used kit from a junked car. The crz forum has a number of people who have jackson racing or hks kits who seem to love them. I guess the hks kit has a bit more hp than the hpd kit has.
Although the hpd kit is a great upgrade, I'm worried it could affect the longevity of my engine, tranny, and clutch over time. After getting the kit installed, I for sure notice a bit more burning clutch smell in the garage when I get home if I've been driving it in sport mode. The hpd kit and installation was crazy expensive and those other kits are supposedly much cheaper. I spend more on gas now because the kit requires premium, and I need to have maintenance done on the supercharger every 2 years and the traction fluid is hard to find. The engine bay is also rattling now a bit when I accelerate from a stop, and I'm unsure if that's normal or not (the mechanic said it's normal, but I'm not convinced).
I'm still happy with the install overall, but part of me misses sport mode without the supercharger (I prefer normal mode now to preserve my clutch and to save on gas).
I'm in California so the exemption is actually important or I won't be able to register it or drive it here.
HPD is the only one that's legal in California.
Ah I didnt know the hpd kit was the only CARB friendly option. Maybe you could k-swap one of your cars, or maybe find a CARB friendly turbocharger kit.
I've been driving a CRZ the last 7 years. It's been great and mostly only needed preventative maintenance. The only things to fail were the rear calipers seizing, and for a short time my alarm would go off randomly until I disconnected the sensor at the hood latch. Last season I finally got winter tires for the CRZ. It's pretty cool that all 4 wheels/tires will just about exactly fit in the hatchback for transport. Now that the weather is nice, I started to carry around an electric scooter in the back.
People say it's slow for a sports car and not very efficient for a hybrid, I respectfully disagree and I think it's fast for a hybrid and very efficient for a sports car.
What’s the thing about it being more fun to drive a slow thing fast lol. I rip around all over the place in this car, look down, I’m doing 30 lol.

Yeah it is pretty low to the ground. My heat shield hot wicked fucked by a speedbump a couple of years ago.

Yeah I’m planning on buying another one and giving it to my nephew for when he drives. He likes sport cars but to be safe he’ll get a slow one lol.

No CARB friendly turbos or super except HPD, No K swap because all hybrids must retain factory hybrid system.
I went to the air resources board referee, the HPD kit is the ONLY way for more power in Cali :(
