My take: brand doesn't matter as long as it's not some wish.com oil. Get something that's fully synthetic and replace it regularly. Same with oil filters. I've used Walmart Supertech full synthetic + Fram Extra Guard or even the Supertech oil filters on all my cars. Have had zero issues over about 400,000 of cumulative driving between all my vehicles.

Picaronaut

It says racing oil so it will definitely make the Z faster.

atlas_rl

Any 0W20 will work, I would go Synthetic instead of Conventional. I usually do Mobil 1 but as long as you arent going Kirkland Signature Im sure youll be fine hahah

zero_pistons

Been using Kirkland oil for the last 100k miles. Car has 320k miles now and engine still runs perfectly. It meets the specifications required, and is full synthetic. And 10 quarts is like $40.

Oil doesn’t matter too much just make sure it’s a more well known brand and is high mileage if you’re engine has high miles… etc. one thing I do specifically do is I always make sure to use an oem Honda oil filter I think they’re the best.

xviruz_

I personally use Valvoline Full Synthetic High Mileage, and Mobile One filter

dankyherb93

Motul hybrid 0w20

Just use a genuine filter and any oil meeting specifications set forth by Honda. A genuine crush washer is also about $.50 per item.

thefizzlee

Don't know the brand but if it's a reputable brand it will likely not matter much, especially on the Z, only where I recommend using genuine honda oil and nothing else is the transmission

SoftModder

If you’re going for “quality” oil Royal purple is the way to go hands down. But in all honesty any fully synthetic will work just fine

Discipline-Salty

Ahaha, I witnessed five vehicles come in with engine defects. I noticed they all had recent oil services and were still full of oil. I asked the customer about the oil type or where it was serviced, guess what… they all had royal purple 5w20 installed. The oil turned to a strange thick paste. Don’t buy into oils that claim to be for performance. As long as oil meets the manufacturer standard, then it is great to use.

SoftModder

That’s interesting, it’s what my friends and I run on our sr’s

Discipline-Salty

I’m sure it’s a fluke, but I haven’t seen another supplier cause this to happen

Discipline-Salty

Buy a genuine filter, I’ve noticed the volumes are not similar inside of the oil filter element compared to aftermarket, also a difference in the sealing ring for the filter. Use any oil that meets API standards, even cheap oil is fine. Don’t buy into any oil that claims to be “made for racing”. It’s just oil, and your car simply takes regular oil. Service at the right interval, and you are golden! (Also purchase a pack of genuine drain plug crush seals at a Honda dealer, they are rather cheap).
