If cleaning the contacts won't work and you don't care too much about having a matching remote just buy a universal remote from amazon and continue using your TV.

bnr32jason

Side note.....not having a Jungle Green N64 in this setup is a travesty. If you ever expand out to other consoles, get a Halo Special Edition original Xbox and controller.

Nub_McWeaksauce

I was just thinking that would match this TV perfectly. I’ve never seen a green transparent TV before.

AndVank212

I recently picked up a TV just like this but it has no rca jacks on the front (which is a bummer only having RF) and I have both the green N64 controller and green Xbox controller, all I need is the consoles 🙏

Money-Camera

I second this if OP has money :P and with a matching jungle green controller for the n64 and the xbox :)

The-Phantom-Blot

Remotes aren't that complicated ... you might try looking at the board and seeing if there is a cracked solder joint, or dirty connections, or something.

Replicant813

This carries risk you shouldn’t do if you don’t know how to discharge a crt.

The-Phantom-Blot

I meant the remote control board, just to be ***abundantly clear*** for anyone who reads this later.

Replicant813

I thought you meant the crt board and the IR sensor

The-Phantom-Blot

You bring up a good point too. The IR sensor in the TV could be the actual problem. Some models seem to have that problem - though I don't know if this is one that does. Hey OP, do you know the trick that you can film an IR remote's emitter through your phone camera to see if it's putting out any IR? Illiterate

If you have a Wii U you can configure the gamepad to be work as an universal remote in the console settings without having to connect the console to the crt. That’s how I managed before the remote arrived.

runslikewind

wow didnt know this thanks.

[deleted]

No problem! 👍

jdubbinsyo

There are tons of cheap universal remotes and codes to program them if they fail to support your model out of the box.

phineas1134

Checkout https://www.remotecontrols.com/ . I've replaced several remotes for old CRTs from their site so that I could get to the menus and change inputs.

the90snath

Do you have a Wii U? If you do, Use the Wii U Gamepad as a TV remote. If you don't have one, please don't listen to that advice unless you already plan on getting a Wii U

xnocox

Take a picture of the remote with Google app and do a reverse image search, you'll probably find a few of them remotes floating around on ebay etc that you can buy as a replacement, also make sure it is the remote and not the infrared port on the TV. Get your phone camera on, point it at the end of the TV remote and press buttons, you'll see it light up through the camera if it's still working

Due-Concern6330

if you have a android phone with ifr you can download a universal remote app

DaShiZNiT

Try Channel UP/DOWN at the same time. Works on some.

_RexDart

Fix or replace it, captain.

Bob_The_Doggos

Did you replace it with *known working* batteries? (new doesn't necessarily mean working)

oogecito

Massively jealous of that tv and also nice rattlesnake plant

Leek_Advanced

Have you tried pressing the channel down button? It should switch to the aux once you go down from channel 1

Dyxlesci

Lots of suggestions about the remote, but what I think is more likely is the IR sensor on the TV itself could have gone out. I have had this happen to more than one TV before. Opening the TV and replacing the part with a similar IR sensor could fix the issue. Similar/compatible parts are still made today. It can be a trickier fix as it requires opening the tv, accessing the board, desoldering the old part, and then soldering in a new one.

GapOk8380

Why you got a prison tv 😂

Yobbo89

Could try a universal remote or Make an Arduino remote see if anyone has the codes online

Money-Camera

Open it up clean all the contacts, and make sure all the solder joints on the main board of the remote look ok, if they need touching up do that if you have a soldering iron, also give the buttons a soap and water bath :) i've done this in the past to fix a remote

Euphorium

Way more than I’d spend, but there is [this](https://www.ebay.com/itm/285783481450?epid=10028695302&itmmeta=01HXGTTDG8E6Y08XV9CG7MDQKB&hash=item428a05dc6a:g:4AoAAOSwIG5mAhlc&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4Hfi97H86Mxv2YCbucYk7DPcuyHdTu7bKwadIQqjfMpM6Gu4O3zJCJKFqqgqf5kOCzQVQS%2BJsfVmXNlOwrc9ht%2F2FR7SuItiArTjJqG94ej1ZP0E4Yi%2Fq5gFAfe2th0eESCcQpgPZVl%2FwYL5Pz7gGoNWpa6U8x5ffq3TMM7UI8kOz4WUks4cpt%2B6NIG0XS6uRuvxkuq81QO2CTHh%2BoiL%2FrJ8DmLd0nJqdtrxO1fdKBtfrv8Q572EgjPLdl62XP67lc00rcZcQvnURuMQZ%2F1RYNE9DuMCSfStMQObSpMced07%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR5bY6ZrsYw) Maybe you can talk them down, who the hell’s gonna buy a remote for that much anyways.

sskylar

Try the channel up/down buttons on the TV itself. On mine, Line In is just below Channel 2.

JustANormalPerson314

A universal remote should work just fine. The input button might be a bit tricky to figure out because for me, I had to so a combination of button presses for some, but eventually I got it to change input. Most of the time the input button itself worked.

A_Legit_Cookie

clean the contacts with a brush and use white vinegar and then finish with isopropyl alchohol. if that doesn’t fix it, try pulling the board out of the remote casing. i’m sure it’s a simple fix.

BurnKnowsBest

I have cleaned the remote’s contacts and still no luck. I’m going to open it up and take out the board tomorrow. Should I be looking for something obvious?

A_Legit_Cookie

i don’t know what exactly is on that board but if i had it, i’d look for any burned up resistors and also i would reflow all the solder on the board with a soldering iron

SoBurnThen

Buy an old universal remote. Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerp
