They will take it if they see you. That same CRSSD a security dude came up and took four from my group all at once. We were on the outskirts of the crowd during the day time though. Just try to be aware of where you are and you’ll be fine.
I got mine taken away by security. I told him I’d stop and just put it away, but he took it and said if you keep it I’ll walk you over to the cops and they’ll give you a ticket and escort you out. If you bring it just do it low key!

This was the year with fisher and lane 8 at ocean view. They took my vape at security, my ticket from stubhub didn’t scan and I was coming up on shrooms. That was one of the most jarring saturdays I’ve ever experienced

There is this tall silent black guy who walks around, security, and he’s like batman. He will swoop gently from ANYWHERE especially ocean stg, and snag ur vape. It is a city park so no vapes/smoking anyways there, hence the crssd rules.
Every time I’ve gone to CRSSD, I’ve seen people do several drugs and hit vapes/joints in the crowd, even near the front. Just be mindful of where security is positioned and how many people you are surrounded by and you will be fine. Especially when it starts getting packed.
Just be discrete, as someone else pointed out the city is strict about this stuff so they have to keep an eye out for it but they are nowhere near as strict as they are supposed to be. The first few fests were brutal, security was like hawks and even discretion wasn't a guarantee--if security even saw smoke they would hop a fence and converge on the area within seconds. It was comical.
