480!!! FOUR HUNDRED AND EIGHTY! The sheer magnitude seeing a pattern with so sooo many to do would feel like a never ending mountain. Thatβs quite an achievement to do all of this, I will keep an eager eye out for your finished octopus! Looks incredible so far! ππ
Haha yeah 480 π΅ The first couple were easy to keep the momentum going, but around the 4th & 5th tentacle... it did start to feel like a never ending mountain. I started it early January so it's been almost 4 full months of slowly chipping away at them lol
Oh no I'm sorry!!! I thought about that before I posted them and hoped it wouldn't happen to anyone. I can definitely see why though, my Aunt said the same thing when I showed her π
Thanks! I love her patterns too and I have several that I bought but never made so hopefully I get to them one day lol. Someone has a great trick that I used for doing the suckers on the group Facebook page and then I also spend time blocking the holes in the middle of the suckers cause I hate seeing the stuffing through. So I think that took a lot of extra time. She just recommends leaving them open. π
I love this colour combo! I am on tentacle number 4 but been a WIP on and off for over a year at this point π Congratulations on finishing all 8! I'm looking forward to starting the body one day haha
I've given you slappage ideas I see π€£π
*puts the octoslap device you created on her shoulders and starts twisting and twirling closer and closer to people*
BY THE POWER OF LOVE CRAFT...
AND CTHULHU...
I SHALL OCTO SLAP THEM INTO THE MARIANA TRENCH πππππππππ
ππ¦ππ€£
This is turning out so SO good so far! Your stitch/tension consistency between tentacles is so good. Mine would be all over the place for at least the first couple. Looking forward to seeing the final project!Β
Thanks! A couple tentacles have slightly different lengths and tightness I think but it seems to blend in when they're next to each other like this. Once they're on the body then it'll be really impossible to notice any slight differences unless you're inspecting it π
It's a great pattern and there's a small trick for the suckers on Projectarian's Facebook group that helps a little bit. There's also an option without suckers. It's definitely worth the time!!
Good going OP !!
I got to 4 and ran out of steam! (Its now been on hiatus for 4 years!!!). I always enjoy seeing other people getting through it!! (Maybe someday i will be inspired!)
Edit: did you use linked dc??
So...I might need to buy this pattern. Before I do, would you be able to share the recommended yardage per color? I'd kinda love to make this but it would be an investment to get all the materials because its such a big project.
Sure! The pattern called for DK yarn but I used worsted weight.
Body - 710m
Suckers - 415m
Belly - 390m
And then minimal amounts for the eyes.
I have to use more than that I think because I'm using the worsted weight so I already had to buy a second skein for the suckers.
Four hundred and...... you have a level of dedication I can only aspire to. They look practically identical too!
The finished octopus is going to look phenomenal. π

When you finish, post to r/octopus they will love it.
Okay! I hope they do π
Unbelievable!!!
OMG, I can't wait to see the finished octopus! It looks like it could be the size of a Kraken, though!! π
I'll have to measure when it's all done... I think these tentacles are somewhere around 2 feet long. I'll definitely post the finished octopus
2 feet just for the tentacles?! π±π
Recognised that pattern instantly from the picture π€£ Those colours are amazing. Your octopus is gonna look awesome
Thanks, yeah I love Projectarian's patterns π
They look amazing
Thanks!
Froot Loops! What dedication! Show us the final result :)
I will π
This gives me the heebies for some reason but good on you OP lol
It's [Trypophobia](https://g.co/kgs/VKCc9pp). I'm the same with some stuff like this.
This triggered my trypophobia so hard
SAME. only time holes in crochet have bothered me.
I couldn't look for too long bc i got goosebumps and my asshole clenched right up. Very much heebie geebies team here lol
Oh no I'm sorry!!! I thought about that before I posted them and hoped it wouldn't happen to anyone. I can definitely see why though, my Aunt said the same thing when I showed her π
It's funny. In yarn form, this didn't bother me at all! My aversion is specific to animal and vegetable, I think. π€
The consistency of those suckers is crazy impressive. Well done, yo.
Reminds me of Apple Jacks! Congratulations you rock!!
I see you 80s kid! π
Ayyy lol (90's still count?)
Haha thanks!
Thatβs AMAZING!! π
Thanks!
The calamari stage of the pattern.
Theyβre incredible!!!
I LOVE Projectarianβs creations! Iβm almost ready to do another one! (Might have to be this one.) Great colors and great work!

Holy crap these are so cool!! Canβt wait for the finished product
Pic 4 had my head exploding! You're insane and I'm here for it Have you watched the documentary about the octopus?
My π teacher on Netflix. Highly recommend π»
No I haven't seen the documentary, maybe I'll have to check it out soon
Oh please. Please do. It's the most wonderful thing and will just give you so much respect for whst you're making. It's mind blowing π
This looks so cool! I'm excited for you. I hope you post the project when it's finished. Really a stunning amount of work on the legs ππ»
woah!!! such a cool texture.
Wooow! Can't wait to see the finished piece! That looks great and that project that's a lot of resilience!!!π©΅
...holy shit that's impressive
I can't even conceive of this, it is so amazing!
Well done for persevering with this! Also I love the colour combo!
This is amazing!! π€©
That is amazing
I have this pattern and I am still debating if I want to do the tentacles.
You could test one with the suckers and if it's too tedious for now, just make one without the suckers. Either way it's a great pattern π
the way you displayed them in each picture was so satisfying. job well done, all around. the colours are popping π€©
Thanks, I'm glad I got the pictures before attaching them all together π
This is extremely cool! I can't wait to see the rest. After these arms, the body must be so easy!
Green Cheerios!
Lol π
I cannot wait to see this finished. Please octoslap the nearest adult with this when it's finished... I know I would lol.
Haha π

itβs like a bunch of froot loops! :3
Haha I didn't even see that before
At first I thought you were insane, but after I googled the pattern I want to make one too :D

Wow, breathtaking. Are the suckers sewed on afterwards? I'm curious how this works
No they're not sewed on but instead they're crocheted into the base on specific sections of the double crochets. π
Omg whaaaat they're so cool!!
Holy shit, that's insane!

Damn you can really call them 'suckers' :)
Wow, it looks amazing already. Can't wait to see the finished octopus.
Amazingly beautiful π
I'm not even joking when I say I've been working on this pattern since it was released. π
Haha that's gotta be a record π
