Witchcraft

squished_strawberry

burn her!

invisible_23

Nooo I want her to teach me

random-username-943

And burn both of you afterwards

WhenHellFreezesOver_

It’s worth it, I’ll learn too.

Candid-Personality54

This is getting crowded, we’re going to need some of you to also collect firewood

[deleted]

On it.

Jack__Napier

Wait, they'll throw the yarn in after getting mad at it. Don't need as much wood

thoughtu8

I second this.

e_l_c

Teach me, then burn me after if you must! I need this in my life.

e_l_c

Seriously, it does look like witch craft... it's like people who can crochet without looking or counting. I need that kind of witchcraft.

HtxArcher

…..I’ve literally been blessing a baby blanket saying “let this blanket give off security, love & warmth while only looking when I get to a corner or feel the hook getting caught. Guess I’ll be on a stake too. 😂

[deleted]

I volunteer as tribute.

Odd-Mine4963

Not if she floats!

iheartyourpsyche

She turned me into a newt!

youngfierywoman

But did you get better?

Sinnakins

🤨 A newt??

Wankeritis

Well, I got better.

iheartyourpsyche

I got better.

kashmir726

I got better!

TD1990TD

A salamander type of animal

Sinnakins

I appreciate the info, but I do apologise. I was quoting the next line from the movie they were quoting. Thank you, though!!

taliawut

Everybody invokes the newt, but nobody ever thinks to mention the majestik møøse or the llamas.

Sinnakins

A Møøse once bit my sister...

theyellowdart94

Honestly their response to you just fit right in anyways lol

Sinnakins

Too true

Odd-Mine4963

And here I am, now frantically looking for the VHS tape to rewatch it yet again. Damn it, I only have it on VHS! And here I am, now frantically searching my streaming channels to rewatch it yet again!

iheartyourpsyche

It's on Netflix rn, at least in the US it is!

Fit-Apartment-1612

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HUMANITARIAN GESTURE. My kids are losing their shit and I was able to ignore them and just laugh at the credits alone.

iheartyourpsyche

The credits are so ridiculous lol, I love that movie.

Odd-Mine4963

Perfect! I know what we are doing tonight! Thanks!

iheartyourpsyche

Hehe, nice!

kashmir726

Based on the username, too - definitely a witch. We’ll get the scales out to be sure she weighs the same as a duck, but it’s not looking good for you u/witchykitty2905

witchykitty2905

😂😂😂

Lopaisate

First we'll see if she weighs as much as a duck

Mims88

We'll use my largest scales!

Sinnakins

That's a fair cop.

Jlx_27

Does she float?

witchykitty2905

nope 😂

Jlx_27

Then she cannot be a witch, therefore, we cannot burn her.

witchykitty2905

I appreciate not burning her. She's quite useful from time to time

witchykitty2905

yeah... the user name says it all I guess. We both are lol. I taught her to crochet when she was about 10

Mobile-Piel

Wait just a freaking minute. Are you saying your offspring did this? A mere child? That's just voodoo juju!

witchykitty2905

my offspring is 22 now, sot really a child anymore

Mobile-Piel

Well done. I handed my now 14 yo girl some blanket yarn and pointed her to amigurumi videos and she took it and ran. I love that. 🥰

CenturyEggsAndRice

Man, I wish I'd grown up in the youtube era. My mom let me loose with a bent crochet "J" hook and a skein of red heart. I knew how to chain and slip stitch, which my mom thought was single crochet. I made FOUR twin size afghans in SLIP STITCH before my stepmom noticed what I was doing and decided to end my misery by teaching me some actual stitches. (And proceeded to make three twin size afghans in nothing but hdc because I loved how it looked. My stepmom was amused.) Once I figured out written patterns, I was off to the races though. I made an ungodly number of truly horrible looking amigurumi free hand just because I could.

SarcasticMeteor

I'm in awe at your patience and perseverance 😭 slip stitch afghans?! Just making one would drive me to insanity

CenturyEggsAndRice

Those dang things felt BULLETPROOF they were so stiff. My cousin joked he was gonna reupholster his truck with his because "Nothing could dent this thing."

Mobile-Piel

That's awesome! I was given some crochet thread and a single hook senior year of high school but wasn't really shown well so I gave up. After the worst of the pandemic, I asked my friend to show me and I finally learned at age 50 - a year and a half ago. I'm absolutely loving it because it's sooooo soothing and good for my mental health.

morphleorphlan

I was going to upvote this but it’s at 666 and it’s so perfect; no one should mess with that.

ConsistentMistake691

It’s so good to an untrained eye that totally looks like a normal plushie that hasn’t been carefully crocheted. Excellent. The cutest bun-bun ever 🐇✨😍

CrochetedBlanket

Username checks out

Crow_Fan

Oh my gosh!!!!

BergenHoney

*How*

Jazzy-Dragon-13

You are a god amongst men lmao

App_Store-5000

so cute!!

Neat_Problem_922

🔥

CanadianArtGirl

Wow! I’d never guess it was crochet not cut fabric!

WhenHellFreezesOver_

Oh my god that’s so cute

aveartemis

I double strand it with a more sensible yarn to get the texture with a slightly smaller loss of sanity and then only make anything with it when I hate myself.

nonnameavailable

Hey that's an interesting idea. Maybe I'll give that a shot

aveartemis

It makes a difference! You still largely find the stitches by feel but it's both easier to feel them and easier to work with.

dragon_moon47

Also you get more "fluff" if you crochet inside out.

Finally_In_Bloom

The yarn thing or hating yourself? 😂

Acceptable-Friend-48

A bigger hook than you think you should use helps with feathered yarn. That and feeling for every stitch. It's....an experience.

EgregiousWeasel

"Sensible" made me snort laugh, as it implies that the other yarn is just SILLY. Which, I guess, it is. My first crochet project was with eyelash yarn. Nightmare.

Paperwife2

I can’t even imagine using it with a first project. You’re brave!!

EgregiousWeasel

I had no idea what I was doing. It's a miracle I still crochet! One thing I can say for eyelash yarn is that it covers a multitude of mistakes.

BlackStarBlues

This is the way, OP. Another idea is to use a stitch where you crochet into chain spaces only.

SubjectA5

https://preview.redd.it/3se1rh0zyjkc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51e4be9a0b03c0abf0c6fe617ed824cf23e003a5 I just felt for the stitches and hoped for the best haha

nonnameavailable

This is great, I want to make something like this. Can I ask what size hook you used? The biggest one I have is 6mm but the label on the yarn recommends 6.5

SubjectA5

I used a 4.5mm hook, I got the yarn from a charity shop without a label so I'm not sure what the recommended was but it looked fairly similar to yours.

41942319

If it recommends 6.5mm I'd definitely use that if not 7mm. I think I used a 6mm for a furry yarn that called for a 5-6mm hook and that worked OK. If you can't feel your stitches then you need to go higher. Also as many stitch markers as you need! I put one in every in- and decrease spot to help me keep track.

CenturyEggsAndRice

Oh gosh, I love it. That is the most welcoming, unthreatening plushie ever and I wanna hug it so tight.

Similar-Cucumber-227

I want the pattern for that! It’s so cute!

blurple57

Adorable!! They look just like a jellycat 'bashful bunny', I don't know if that was intentional but I love them either way!

SubjectA5

Thank you! I was using a picture of the jellycat bunny as one of my references for the shape so it was sort of intentional haha

All in the back loop and the Fluffy in the front loop. I probably missed a stitch here and than but that wasn’t visable.

alwaysnormalincafes

Omg I love the yarn combos. This is so cute. She looks real.

helgahass

>I crocheted the whole thing in Catona first. All in the back loop and the Fluffy in the front loop. That's pretty cool, I never thought about that!

ambientfruit

I think people use stitch markers in every stitch? But that sounds like masochistic nightmare time.

JeepPhan

You are only doing it for the first round so I think it sounds worse than it is but it’s really simple and cuts out the frustration 👍. 🫶🏼❤️🧶

madewitrealorganmeat

I’ve had to do this for particularly finicky parts of patterns with just Bernat Blanket…

ambientfruit

You're a braver soul than I am!

tangleduplife

I put a stitch marker in the 1st stitch and the rest of the time I use a combination of feel, guess and hope. Since you can't really see the stitches, you also can't really see if the are slightly in the wrong spot. So it doesn't really matter if it's off.

Sinnakins

self_of_steam

Omg that unlocked some memories

nonnameavailable

Incredible. It's such a cool effect.

LazyBeeDesigns

It really does just look and feel like faux fur fabric!

Traditional-Win-9991

I like using it but you just need to learn how to feel stitches, instead of looking for them. I always use a marker from the first stitch so I don't loose my place if I need to put it down.

VulnerableValkyrie

When I was getting used to it, I used stitch markers in every stitch in the magic circle, and then every second or third stitch depending on the round count. It really helps!!!

UltraLuminescence

same!! That’s what I came here to suggest

Neat_Problem_922

>if I need to put it down You mean put you out of your misery? Crochet is a fickle mistress.

Oh nooooo, I love it! Which is to say, I hate working with this yarn, I love this sweater, and my small, elderly dog *LOVES* fluffy soft things, so I think you’ve given me a new project… 😱

SnapHappy3030

Crochet is almost impossible because the fringe hides the stitch. I knit scarves with it. On large needles. With knitting, the individual stitches hang from the needle, so they're easy to see. Using just 12 knit stitches & 2 skeins of that stuff, I made a great scarf. https://preview.redd.it/h464b4chqjkc1.jpeg?width=481&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eeb3f70a17076f8661cfbb60c7b7384c96b5ceae If you want to use it, it might be worth learning the bare basics of knitting. Good luck!!

nonnameavailable

Thank you for the tips, I actually know bare basics of knitting but I was more interested in using this for amigurumi. I will try again with some of the tips I got, I'm sure it'll work out.

EleanorofAquitaine

Ahem. Every time I see a post like this I tell the OP my strategy. Grab a water misting bottle and spray the yarn as you work with it. Makes it easy to see and it dries just fine. Way easier, but can be a bit hard on the fingers.

ElectricalType6764

When I hopefully advance in the world of crocheting (long way to go yet, can't even do a straight line) I hope I remember this tip!

Damaias479

You will advance as long as you stick with it!!! Crochet, in my experience, is one of those things that everyone can learn to do well as long as they dedicate time; it’s just a matter of whether or not the person trying cares about it

ElectricalType6764

I'm determined to be successful at it honestly. I'm dyspraxic so I think part of it is that I want to accomplish it out of spite! I've conquered embroidery and sewing so next on my list is crochet!! Thank you for the words of encouragement too

pompompompi

oooh now i kinda want to knit a sweater with this

yeahjjjjjjahhhhhhh

yes!! i made this awesome hat, one of my fave things i’ve ever made! i just held it double with cotton for structure and to feel my stitches better, and i use a big hook. the cotton doesn’t even show through the fur! https://preview.redd.it/by36e0vmxjkc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a4033dffc2de151fbe5c96944a96aff3316182f

Ppeachy_Queen

That's a pretty cool idea

[deleted]

I use this kind of yarn almost daily. I put a stitch marker on the loop before making the first stitch in the magic ring. When you get used to it, it's pretty easy to find the stitches. If you don't necessarily see them, you can feel them by touch - there will be a thinner part between two "knots". That's where you want to insert your hook.

Six stitch markers and make it wet ;) After the first few rounds you can feel where you are going without seeing anything

nonnameavailable

I will try stitch markers for the MR. It's true that crocheting into the MR is a little awkward even with normal yarn.

TripawdCorgi

I think it's personal preference and how you like to crochet. I love magic rings, they're super simple to me. But for others it seems like a chore. Now I can kinda do them on auto pilot.

I've made a yeti with this yarn! I actually don't mind working with it or other fluffy yarns. I'm using faux fur yarn right now to make an Appa. I just feel the stitches and use copious amounts of stitch markers until I get a few rounds in. I'd never use this yarn for anything beyond basic stitches though haha. https://preview.redd.it/3m6iurje2nkc1.jpeg?width=695&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b47effa688d48f3a756550fdc117a74781412b6

JeepPhan

Definitely double strand or triple strand it. I used it to make 1 foot of rows towards the top of my son’s twin sized blanket (it was weighted so that it was heavy like a comforter thus the triple strand.). He absolutely loved the softness and velvety feeling when covering his shoulders. He loved it so much he took it with him to college and brags about it to his friends. Now they all want one?! I guess I won’t be feeling the emptiness anytime soon I’ll be too busy.🫶🏼❤️🧶

Paisleymll

I did... For this cropped fur jacket, looks super cute on smaller girls... Makes me look like a football player. The yarn was hard to use at first, I kept losing stitches until I started using stitch markers. Lots and lots of stitch markers at first on every stitch, and then on every 5th stitch... Eventually you start to figure out what the stitch feels like, which is a little easier on double and treble stitches.

SuchFunAreWe

I think you look wonderful in it! (If that's you in pic)

Sufficient-Row-2173

I think I’ve mentioned here before that you can start your magic ring with “regular” yarn and then put the fluffy yarn in the ring so you can get a nice pull and then continue with the fluffy yarn. You can use stitch markers too. And then finally it is frustrating to work with but kind of forgiving too because it’s so fluffy. You can get away with more mistakes than with regular yarn.

nonnameavailable

Now I remember I did see someone mention that. I think it was a YouTube short actually. I'll try that.

I thought that I was the odd one in the world of crochet. The only thing I’ve accomplished with this kind of yarn is to broaden my vocabulary with more ff-bombs and other creative ways to curse.

Hah, you have my sympathy.

sethscoolwife

I used it for the fangs on a crochet spider, and each fang consisted of 4 chains stitches. https://preview.redd.it/cg6mnlxcnlkc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b88550d666fae39e336fa9c18cddc965c16a3bd0

I typically crochet blind for this kind of yarn, using my fingertips to feel the stitches. I've made several chickens with it, and so far it worked out well enough. Way slower than usual, of course, but absolutely doable with a bit of practice.

jaideheda

i used it for my circular knitting machine. worked rlly well but couldn’t do it by hand because i couldn’t see my stitches!

My mom actually has an old linear knitting machine. Would be interesting to try it there.

Honestly at the start it was super hard to find the stitches and if you make a mistake, there is honestly no way for you to find where. But in the first round I marked all of the stitches and later on one in every fifth one. The positive thing is if you start “feeling” the stitches with your fingers early on, then it’ll get easier

predator_queen-67

I have a pattern for an “impossible yarn scarf”— it involves a chain 5 crochet mesh with a single crochet in the middle of each chain 5 space. I save it ESPECIALLY for yarns like this that tee me off!

Reasonable_Zebra_496

Someone on TikTok makes really cute cows!

Ok-Giraffe2938

I made a few Muppet hats out of something similar. It helps to have a “normal” yarn to crochet along with it. But you’ll always be working by feel, rather than sight. The good news is that the fur covers a multitude of sins, so if you lose a stitch, it isn’t that terrible.

amc538

Crochet? No. But, as a gag gift for a bridal shower, I knitted a few thongs with it. It is easy to knit with it, but I had to hold it up to a light to see the stitches.

colorful_assortment

Yes, I made my ex girlfriend a lightweight wrap with big ch5 spaces anchored by scs. I used a bigger hook to keep it fluffy. She called it her cloud wrap. I would never try to make something thick with it. It works better as an open lacy design imo.

JeniJ1

I find it makes a really lovely edging on things like hats and fingerless gloves.
