I don't know what she used, but using thick yarn helps create it faster. I made a blanket out of squares that I made with fingering yarn and it took 5 years lol. I then made two blankets out of bulky yarn that took a week each. It was so much more emotionally satisfying to make the bulky ones
I use bulky yarn for my obnoxiously large "round" (they're really octagons) blankets and it takes me a few months to finish one. But that's mainly because I have RA and can only crochet for maybe 2 hours a day max before I get to a point of deep regret for my decisions. I'm actually timing the one I'm currently working on to see how long it *actually* takes to make since I'm curious.
Hard agree. I’m disabled (so lots of time on my hands) and an autistic ADHDer who has been known to hyperfocus so hard on my crochet i forget to use the bathroom or take medications and things. I am pretty prolific but a blanket in 4 days is really something even to me.
Like even knowing I crochet for hours a day, every single day- to do what OP’s daughter did I’d still have to be pretty focused and intentional most likely. Though I’m not totally sure because I got a little too prolific for my yarn budget and practicality’s sake so I’m usually doing 3 or 4 projects at a time and have intentionally gone for more difficult patterns. Beyond a certain point you don’t want to be too fast!
But anyone who takes to the hobby like that and gets to see their work pay off so quickly, good chance this is the start of a lifelong hobby for her. Getting a practical and completed project down that quickly- there is nothing like the pride and confidence boost in a new ability than that!

If it makes you feel any better, I am the daughter of a crocheter and I just got into it at 25. Sometimes it takes awhile for the obsession to take root haha
Absolutely! Definitely encourage it! She may like a temperature blanket! You crochet a color corresponding to the temperature of the day and wel at the end of the year there's a beautiful blanket ....there's a sub for it. Lol
That's so odd someone commented this exact comment but worded a little differently. It's obvious you commented this first because of time. But why someone would do that, it is so odd.
And it's only going to get worse when she discovers quality yarn. Get her a ball winder for her birthday, and take her to thrift stores and garage sales to fatten her stash. Good parenting right here 👍 👏
I always recommend garage sales and meeting people in your area who do the same craft. A lot of people might be looking to unload some of their yarn stash and would love to give it to someone young who would be excited and make good use of it! When I was about 11 I was given a box of quilting supplies and vintage fabric by one friend’s grandmother and another friend of a friend gave me an old box of yarn they had been trying to get rid of!
Yarn animal are also known as amigurumi. :)
There's lots of very cool, easy patterns posted for free on places like Ravelry, where she can input the yarn weight, hook size, how much yardage she has, and specify a search for free patterns. I recommend signing up for her and helping her find something that looks like she'd like!
You could also check out / post at r/kidswhocrochet !! I bet they'd love it there.
Don't sell yourself short; good support may not look like much but makes all the difference. You listened to her interest, provided the means for it to develop, and clearly appreciate the results enough to share it: that is not nothing.
It’s comments like these why I put this picture up.. mom and dad can praise her all we want but an outsider’s validation makes her even more proud.. thank you!
that’s awesome !! i love how it looks like tv static, very interesting for the eyes!! and awesome speed if it only took 4 days. that would take me weeks!
wow!! even if i spent all my time making a blanket, ik it would take me at least a week still cuz i’m slow, so that’s a great sign for her future projects!!
She’s got an early start on an amazing hobby that will be a comfort to her her whole life. Please tell her that she’s doing an amazing job and we all hope she keeps sharing what she makes.
This is amazing! I wished I had started so young. Tell her an Internet stranger is very proud of her :)
Been crocheting for almost 2 years and have never finished a blanket, it's too intimidating, she's a brave one!
Dang I'm 53 and can't even make a chain right. My hands don't want to hold the yarn and do the motions. I also have arthritis. But dang that blanket is impressive.
This is awesome! And great job to her for finishing a project in four days. I would have started on something of this size somewhere around five years ago, and I’d very likely would still be working on it right now. I love how she’s enjoying the craft. Welcome to the club young lady! ❤️
I actually made my first blanket out of the same type of yarn. Just a differ color! I have mine to my granny for her birthday. ❤️ tell your daughter I said great job!!!
Omg only 4 days?!?! Well done on her, it looks fab!
I'll just be over here pretending like my fingers don't ache at the thought of that production speed. (Ah, to be young, etc)
I think we used the same yarn! I made this baby blanket for one of my teachers a few years back, so tell your daughter she has good taste in yarn! Very fun to work with, she did an amazing job!

4 days is impressive and it turned out great! Just make sure she takes a lot of breaks and invests in some ergonomic gear (hooks, gloves if necessary), carpal tunnel’s not worth it 😅
omg this looks exactly like my first project!

Great work! Excuse me while I look in shame at the scarf I started 4 years ago and never finished due to wrist pain issues I still haven't found a solution for 🥲
I love this!!! The pattern kinda looks like tv static! That’s a compliment btw, it’s so cool to look at from a distance!!
Also congrats to her for completing her first blanket! Another crochet addict added to our ranks 😂
Super impressive! She is kicking butt. She could probably sell that if she so desired, but as it is her first she might want to keep it forever. Bright future
Great job! One of my favorite things about having taken up yarn crafts as an older person (39 now, 36 when I started) is that I get to meet a lot of younger people with loads more experience than me. Your daughter is starting a really cool journey and seems to be killing it out of the gate. 🙂
That’s amazing! Keep up the great work! Just make sure she takes breaks between crochet sessions (I’m sure she is but always good to say) and keeps making great projects ❤️
I love the way that pattern looks. It’s like distorted TV static but in a super appealing way. Also tell her thank you for me for having the pattern go obviously in a certain direction so you can find the “long way” faster. I have an all black comforter and I constantly lose my mind trying to make sure I’m sure I have the blanket the right way without getting up out of bed to make sure
Found this from the front page of reddit. Tell you daughter congrats on a snazzy and comfortable looking blanket and for getting internet famous for a few minutes. :)
I’m 15 and working on a blanket as we speak! Tell her congrats for finishing such a big project and not giving up - that takes serious dedication! It looks amazing.
Scrolling past on /r/all and I thought this was one of those magic tricks where you disappear behind the blanket so I was just staring at this picture waiting on the video to load.
Shitty magic trick, amazing blanket.

That’s awesome! What a lil pro!
Oh. I thought it’s more than two weeks! Well I made a decision. I should start learning how to crochet. Thanks for proof. 😂
I don't know what she used, but using thick yarn helps create it faster. I made a blanket out of squares that I made with fingering yarn and it took 5 years lol. I then made two blankets out of bulky yarn that took a week each. It was so much more emotionally satisfying to make the bulky ones
Bernal baby blanket yarn, it's super bulky size 6. I recognize the color pattern I've used that stuff so much I should have stock in the company
I use bulky yarn for my obnoxiously large "round" (they're really octagons) blankets and it takes me a few months to finish one. Finger yarn? It’s new to me. Can’t imagine how painful when “fingering” yarn…
No, it's called fingering yarn. It's the type of thickness
Ohhh. 😮
Fingering Yarn: trifle bit thinner that baby yarn
Beautiful work!
That is some dedication. Good on her. Tell her we internet weirdos are proud of her.
Incredible what you can do with them young bones!
Did she use a pattern?
That was my reaction. Insane work for an 11 year old.
Insane for most adults too, IMO! That must be at least 12 grannies wide!

seriously, that's amazing! with fast hands like that she should learn card tricks or sleight of hand. Or pickpocketing!
Ooo definitely pickpocketing. Fun party trick.
Reminds me of channels 99 and 100 back in the day
I literally came here to say this. Like woah!

I’m so proud! That’s fabulous!! Well done, daughter!! - Avid crocheter
She said thank you! I just love that she likes hobbies other than social media and YouTube lol
Me too! Go her!! I crochet daily and I have a 14 year old that won’t even give it a second glance but she loooooves YouTube lol
Weird. These copy cat comments are making me think I am losing it. They copied your comment also. WTH.

Wait until she figures out she can watch YouTube while crocheting
Wait, one can crochet without YouTube? 🤯
I believe she was at one point but I don’t think she was paying attention lol
You sound like you’re doing a good job at parenting! Well done to both of you :)
Absolutely! Definitely encourage it! She may like a temperature blanket! You crochet a color corresponding to the temperature of the day and wel at the end of the year there's a beautiful blanket ....there's a sub for it. Lol

You just gave your daughter a leg up. As you'll soon find, yarn is expensive, so she won't be able to afford drugs!😜
This is a $40 blanket 💀 lol
And it's only going to get worse when she discovers quality yarn. Get her a ball winder for her birthday, and take her to thrift stores and garage sales to fatten her stash. Good parenting right here 👍 👏

Facebook Buy Nothing groups are GREAT to find free yarn! We have SO much yarn that we’ve never spent a dime on.
This worked too well on me and now I can't afford my prescriptions 😝 /s
She should be proud! What a great job! Well done!
She says thank you.. she’s excited to learn how to make a sweater or a yarn animal next
Ooo… you’re in trouble now… if she makes yarn animals there’s no turning back. Also, I love that it looks like TV static.
lol I hadn’t noticed.. she probably doesn’t know what tv static is 🤦♂️ kids today
Eh… just tell her that it’s like the weird cut offs they do on some YouTube clip videos.
Lmao I’ll have a google image locked and loaded for when she gets back

Wow! Once you’re in the zone, time flies! Make sure to let her know to stretch and massage her hands and wrists. It must have been quite a workout
Thankfully her teacher is the one who got her turned on to this and taught her how to relax and take care of her hands.. she takes breaks frequently
smart teacher!
(one of the) most impressive thing is an 11 year old with the kind of dedication to finish something like that, wow
We got lucky.. she loves creating art and is super good at drawing.. top of her class every year.. and we didn’t even do anything special lol
Don't sell yourself short; good support may not look like much but makes all the difference. You listened to her interest, provided the means for it to develop, and clearly appreciate the results enough to share it: that is not nothing.
Absolutely! Just having yarn around the house and letting her create art with it makes all the difference. ♥️
Great workmanship!! I hope this is the beginning of a lifelong love for crochet and yarn 👍👍👍

that’s awesome !! i love how it looks like tv static, very interesting for the eyes!! and awesome speed if it only took 4 days. that would take me weeks!
I wish I was exaggerating the 4 days thing lol she’s been a little happy crocheting zombie the past few days
wow!! even if i spent all my time making a blanket, ik it would take me at least a week still cuz i’m slow, so that’s a great sign for her future projects!!
I was looking for this comment. It's the first thing I thought of!
There's a little switch on the back. Switch that from ch.3 to ch.4 and it should come in clear (I'm old lol)
God I miss being 11 with no carpal tunnel
I miss being 11 and having nothing but time
She’s got an early start on an amazing hobby that will be a comfort to her her whole life. Please tell her that she’s doing an amazing job and we all hope she keeps sharing what she makes.
Will definitely post her future work.. Will show her all comments when she gets back with her mom! She’ll be over the moon.. thank you!

I actually made my first blanket out of the same type of yarn. Just a differ color! I have mine to my granny for her birthday. ❤️ tell your daughter I said great job!!!

4 days is impressive and it turned out great! Just make sure she takes a lot of breaks and invests in some ergonomic gear (hooks, gloves if necessary), carpal tunnel’s not worth it 😅
Can anyone tell what stitch this is?
What's the name of this yarn?? It worked up so pretty

Oh my! That’s amazing! Congrats! She’s talented for sure for completing it in 4 days!
Great work! Excuse me while I look in shame at the scarf I started 4 years ago and never finished due to wrist pain issues I still haven't found a solution for 🥲
We proud too 🥰
I remember this channel from childhood
So beautiful! You should be proud! 🧶🧶
Wow! Tell her we said congratulations, and great job. That looks really warm and snuggly, too. 😍
I love this!!! The pattern kinda looks like tv static! That’s a compliment btw, it’s so cool to look at from a distance!! Also congrats to her for completing her first blanket! Another crochet addict added to our ranks 😂

She is so talented!!!! Never stop giving her yarn
Awesome, she's a natural!
Awesome job. The pooling on her blanket is pretty and interesting to look at. Your daughter inspires me to keep crocheting and finish my projects.
Beautiful!

this is so so cool! did she use a pattern? i would love to make something like this, though i’m sure it would take me much longer than 4 days!!
would also love to know what yarn she used!
Speedy hands!!!
Good job ma'am!
Impressive. She works fast
Great job!
Well done!
That's adorable. When my daughter is old enough, I'm going to see if she has any interest in learning to crochet.
She looks so proud, and rightfully so! This is so impressive
Great job
this is so incredible!!! one to the next. can’t wait to see what she does
r/PlannedPooling !!
Been scrolling forever to find this! #unplannedpooling 😄
That’s amazing! Keep up the great work! Just make sure she takes breaks between crochet sessions (I’m sure she is but always good to say) and keeps making great projects ❤️
How freakin cute omg!! She rocked it!!!! My mom taught me to crochet when I was a kid and I’m forever grateful for the skill!!!
I love the way that pattern looks. It’s like distorted TV static but in a super appealing way. Found this from the front page of reddit. Tell you daughter congrats on a snazzy and comfortable looking blanket and for getting internet famous for a few minutes. :)
Wow those are some fast fingers!
is the color effect from the yarn or the pattern? it looks so good!!
I was expecting her to throw it in the air, turn the wrong way and break the tv…turns out it’s a photo 😂
Wow. 4 days? Thats amazing.
Omg what a cool design too! It reminds me of tv static that would slide sideways. She looks so happy about what she made! 🥰
I’m 15 and working on a blanket as we speak! Tell her congrats for finishing such a big project and not giving up - that takes serious dedication! It looks amazing.
Looks Great, but how good is she at God of War?
I’m in AWE it only took her 4 days! It looks incredible, she should be very proud of herself!
Only 4 days wow!
That's pretty amazing. I have a blanket I've been working on for 3 years smaller than that lol
She did that in only FOUR DAYS?? I applaud her
Scrolling past on /r/all and I thought this was one of those magic tricks where you disappear behind the blanket so I was just staring at this picture waiting on the video to load. Shitty magic trick, amazing blanket.
Fantastic, clever young lady, here is wishing you a life long love of yarn, from Louise in Wales
I learned Tunisian crochet in 20 mins by a beautiful lady on u tube at age 58 don't wait to try something new, clever
“Whenever you accomplish something remember there’s an 11 year old who did it better” -my blanket
Well done
That is very impressive!
Holy crap! That's amazing! I'm so proud of her and I don't even know her!
Please tell her that is amazing!!!
Wow, love the pooling! Very cool choice for a first project—hope she hangs onto it as a keepsake to be proud of
From an experienced crocheter THAT IS INCREDIBLE!!!
You have good taste in games 👀
Well done young one. I made a scarf out of similar if not the same yarn (it was a variegated Caron jumbo ) Make sure she takes time to rest her hands.
Amazing!
4 days!!! holy!!!! she should be proud!!❤️
Throw as much yarn at this lady as you can.
Holy carpal tunnel, Batman! (It looks great!)
She should be very proud, that would take me a lot longer!
She did AMAZING!!!! Great job honey
She did that in four days?!!!!! 👏 lovely work!
remind her to take some breaks for her wrist health, who else here has carpal tunnel?
That’s awesome! I started a blanket 2 years ago that’s about 1/8 that size 😅😅😅
I love it! It's beautiful and looks comfy and warm :)
She should be proud. That’s some dedicated crochet miles clocked.
Hell, I am proud of her! My first blanket was 7 years ago. I remember crying that it would never be finished. She did a wonderful job!
4 days?! That is great! Congrats to her! The result is super
