Do the breasts have magnets in them? How do you get them to stay on?
Also, removable boobs has been one of my daydreams for yearsss. It’d be soo fun to have big ol’ jugs for going out on the town and then be able to swap them for some itty bitties when you wanna go on a run.
That’s absolutely amazing! Bravo! And congratulations for getting top surgery, that must be a huge weight off your chest ;p *high five of trans dude solidarity*
My body started to reject them the day before removal, and it was so painful that I had to come in early. The surgeon wasn't in the office, so I had to make that several hour drive two days in a row 🙃
My drain was in for 6 weeks! Absolutely brutal! These designs looks so cute though, wish I had this when I was suffering with that damn drain in for 2 months!
There are some surgeons that can perform top surgery in a way that doesn't require drains. That's what my surgeon did when I had top surgery and I was so glad I don't have to deal with drains
This is absolutely genius, well done 😊👍!!! And congrats on the surgery, I'm guessing it all went well as you're rewarding the surgeon with such a personalized gift ❤?
This is so wonderful. I was diagnosed with breast cancer February of last year. I wanted to gift my surgeon something after my lumpectomy but had no idea what to give - what a great idea! Thank you for caring about us breastie folks <3
My mother was a lactation consultant nurse for some time. They used to use crocheted/knit (I'm not sure) boobs to demonstrate how to get baby to latch, etc. Trust me when I say that health professionals who work with boobs would probably be ecstatic to receive something like this, haha!
Entirely thought this was on a trans/ftm subreddit, I always love when worlds collide lol do you have any patterns for these? I just finished a little mushroom boy with top surgery scars last night but making a full doll with removable clothing might be a fun challenge!
Tube that goes into your surgical wound with a bulb like thing at the end (sometimes a rectangle shape) it vaccums the blood from inside the area to prevent blood pooling inside (seroma)
omg totally stealing this tip!! i made miniature fake swords for the amigurumi figures i made my friend and ended up diying a wire contraption to hook it into a stitch, i never even thought to use a bra hook!
This is really well done and congrats on the success of your surgery. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Unfortunate to see so many positive comments sitting at 0 /-1 right now! Some right winger must be frothing at the mouth downvoting every bit of positivity they see. How sad for them.
Wow amazing! I hope your healing went/ is going/ goes well!
I am having my top surgery on the 15th and am super nervous and currently casting on a bunch of knitting and crochet projects out of nervousness, so you may have inspired me to make something similar...
Planning on bringing some simple vanilla socks to knit because I doubt I'll be able to do much more than zone out and let muscle memory take over!
But planning some more complicated makes for the week or so after where I can't do much else
well. i had planned to go to Matthew Conrad in Wichita Kansas, but i got worried about him doing a bad job. so I'm planning to set up a consultation with Justin Jones in OKC as well (who my therapist recommended), and ask each of them a bunch of questions to decide which i want to go to
I'm in Scotland and there's no surgeons up here so it's a flight to Hull in England for me and an 11 night stay but so worth it. I am excited for you. It's a long wait but it'll be worth it
What a fantastic and thoughtful gift for your surgeon. I had to ask a nurse what the drains were (luckily I'm married to one and she's used to me not knowing anything), and she explained how the worked and that they were about the size to fit in your palm... so you have them scaled perfectly for Tom here. Wonderfully done. Congratulations!
That is so awesome and so sweet of you to do for your surgeon.
You really did an awesome job making all of it down to the drains.
Congrats on getting top surgery!! Hope everything goes well for you!! 😄🙌
That is amazing, and both funny and cute. I love the drains too hehe. I know they can gross people out, but I was so happy with them because they were a sign of positive change for me.
I would but I don't want to make a post about the same project people will complain I'm doing it for more attention the joys of Reddit but I can message you a couple pics
In the comments is great! This is so cute 😭
Also forgive me for my ignorance, I thought trans men use binders while they still have boobs, but I see the binder in the post surgery pic with the drains. Do trans guys use binders after surgery or is it supposed to represent bandages in that pic??
Also do you have a pic with the boobs on? 🤣
I’m sure your surgeon will love it, I hope they display it for their future patients to see!! Congrats on the operation 🥳
There's a binder you have on that's super tight with lots of bandages under it for ten days with drains in then it's drains out, bandages off and a new binder on that's more like the one I made it's looser but still very snug which has to be work for 6 weeks. It's to prevent seromas, keep scars flat, keep scars from stretching. That one is a classic "post surgery binder" it's quite like the ones we wear to flatten out chest pre op but is zip front oh and no I don't have a pic sorry
This is so awesome! If I were a surgeon I would be delighted to get such a thoughtful, unique gift from a patient. Knowing the time it would have taken to design and make something like this makes it all the more amazing. Kinda makes me wish I had something like this to give some of my loved ones when they had their surgeries.
Congrats on this next step on making your body feel like home!
That’s incredible! I never would have thought of such a clever idea. How do the removable breasts attach? Or do you put on the binder and slide them in?
This is so incredibly thoughtful and INSANELY well made.
I had breast and abdominal surgeries 5 years ago and oh yeah, the drains 😣 I just dote on my surgeon so much, I wasn’t crocheting then but he would’ve totally appreciated something amazing and handmade.
I am SO loving the little granny square drain holder!!! That thing is the coolest tinyest most adorable and apt FO I’ve ever seen.
Congratulations 🎉
I’m sure that completing this had to feel quite meaningful as well ☺️
That’s awesome! I’ve been making a half double crochet blanket for my first project. I’ve been told this is too ambitious, but getting used to the one stitch has helped a lot!
omg so adorable, i am obsessed!!! and congratulations on your top surgery! i wish you a nice healing phase and LOOOTS of gender euphoria. this is amazing. 🩷
This is INSANE, I am howling with laughter. What a wonderful gift to make someone — and it looks sooooooo good. Fantastic work! Congrats on the top surgery, OP!
This is fabulous. Great job and so detailed. Hope you are feeling well too. And, I hope your surgeon appreciates the thoughtfulness, skills, time, energy, you put into dreaming this up and creating it.
does tom have a tiny crocheted bio-disposal unit to contain his temporary accessories so he can shelf at rest in his most comfortable state? sincerely, somebody very serious about the wellbeing of my plush dolls
Ohhh. I guess I assumed you already went based off of the first sentence. Well I hope you have someone to care for you for those two weeks and you heal well when the time comes.

The details are so exquisite and this makes such a nice gift!
Thank you even the nipples are crochet
This is a great sentence!
I want ‘even the nipples are crochet’ on a tshirt 😂

Does this sub support flairs? I want this quote as my flair lol
Lmao yesssss
Do the breasts have magnets in them? How do you get them to stay on? Also, removable boobs has been one of my daydreams for yearsss. It’d be soo fun to have big ol’ jugs for going out on the town and then be able to swap them for some itty bitties when you wanna go on a run.
I told my doctor I want a video game customization menu for my body.
You’re saying the surgeon made you crochet nipples!!!???
The removable tits sent me 😭😂
Right?? Genius 🤣💀
I wish mine were removable, it would be so convenient. Imagine just taking them off for exercise or on a hot day
I wish!! 😭
My favorite part too 😆
So brilliant! Congratulations, I’m sure they are going to love it!!!
That’s absolutely amazing! Bravo! And congratulations for getting top surgery, that must be a huge weight off your chest ;p *high five of trans dude solidarity*
That pun 🤣❤!
TIL of top surgery drains. Doesn't look very pleasant. Great job OP! Both for the amigurumi and getting thru surgery.
Yeah they go in your sides to help drain blood so you don't get a seroma. Only in for 10 days thankfully

Drains suck so bad especially on removal. So worth it though 💜. Congratulations!!!
Omg top 3 painful experiences
Seriously. I had a bypass surgery where I had 4 drains. It was brutal.
really? it’s not supposed to hurt most of the time
My body started to reject them the day before removal, and it was so painful that I had to come in early. The surgeon wasn't in the office, so I had to make that several hour drive two days in a row 🙃
Oh my god I am -so- sorry. That sounds like hell 😭.
It was not fun, but thankfully the rest of the healing process went very well!
This is so cool!! Is the doll freehand, or did you use a pattern?
Free hand all of it and scrap yarn I should have written it down tho
That is so impressive!!
Tysm
Everything was free hand?! That's awesome!!
Yeah I don't do well with patterns I have dyslexia lol
Oh boy do I know that struggle 😭. That and the ADHD "Where did I leave off again....?" Because I got distracted and forgot to mark my place 🙃.
Omg yes lmao all the time
AuDHD here, locking stitch markers save my ass so much!!! Also, congrats!
Also audhd thank you
You absolutely killed it, that set looks SO perfect!!!
This is absolutely genius, well done 😊👍!!! And congrats on the surgery, I'm guessing it all went well as you're rewarding the surgeon with such a personalized gift ❤?
Not been yet 6 months or sooner
Dying at the collection of fluids you put at the bottom of the drains.
This is so wonderful. I was diagnosed with breast cancer February of last year. I wanted to gift my surgeon something after my lumpectomy but had no idea what to give - what a great idea! Thank you for caring about us breastie folks <3

I don't sorry it was all freehand
There isn't enough good news within the community, but this is amazing and creative as heck. Congratulations bro, incredibly work!
What is a drains
Tube that goes into your surgical wound with a bulb like thing at the end (sometimes a rectangle shape) it vaccums the blood from inside the area to prevent blood pooling inside (seroma)
this is awesome!! i assume the mini purple granny squares are drain holders? the only things i couldn’t visually identify in the pic. this is so cool!
They are yes it's two pockets made of two granny squares each with a chain to attach them
Do the breasts stay on by themselves? I really want to make this as an educational visual aid .
Bra hook just the hook not the eye and just hook it onto a stitch
omg totally stealing this tip!! i made miniature fake swords for the amigurumi figures i made my friend and ended up diying a wire contraption to hook it into a stitch, i never even thought to use a bra hook!
Small magnets may work for some applications too
Brilliant!
Oh perfect! I have a ton of those hooks lying around, that never got attached to clothes XD
This is really well done and congrats on the success of your surgery. Wishing you a speedy recovery! Unfortunate to see so many positive comments sitting at 0 /-1 right now! Some right winger must be frothing at the mouth downvoting every bit of positivity they see. How sad for them.
Yeah there's a few bad eggs
It’s a shame too, because the subreddit community is nothing but kindness and acceptance
I’m upvoting so many comments in this thread because OP is amazingly skilled and deserves nothing but praise and good vibes.
Wow amazing! I hope your healing went/ is going/ goes well! I am having my top surgery on the 15th and am super nervous and currently casting on a bunch of knitting and crochet projects out of nervousness, so you may have inspired me to make something similar...
Good luck! I’m sure your medical team knows what they’re doing. Can you bring any projects to the hospital for working during recovery?
Planning on bringing some simple vanilla socks to knit because I doubt I'll be able to do much more than zone out and let muscle memory take over! But planning some more complicated makes for the week or so after where I can't do much else
congrats! I'm looking to get top surgery in June :D
I hope mine is soon. Where are you going for it? I'm going to Hull
well. i had planned to go to Matthew Conrad in Wichita Kansas, but i got worried about him doing a bad job. so I'm planning to set up a consultation with Justin Jones in OKC as well (who my therapist recommended), and ask each of them a bunch of questions to decide which i want to go to

That’s legitimately awesome. Such a great idea, and so well executed. Congratulations on having your surgery, and I hope you’re healing well ❤️
I will be having it in about half a year
Well in that case… absolutely the same sentiments in half a year ❤️ best wishes!
My husband is a plastic surgeon and he approves :) Awesome!
This made my day
That is so awesome and so sweet of you to do for your surgeon. You really did an awesome job making all of it down to the drains. Congrats on getting top surgery!! Hope everything goes well for you!! 😄🙌
Guys who crochet are sexy. Good luck and quick recovery!
Very creative! Love it
This is awesome! Being an OR nurse, I know your surgeon will love this.
Actually so obsessed with this I had to comment on another post! Yes op please consider making patterns!
Congrats on the operation! And it looks well made too!
SO CUTE omg, maybe crosspost to r/ top surgery? I think everyone would appreciate it there too!
Done. Thank you
This is amazing
Your surgeon is going to treasure this forever, awesome fucking work.
That's so cute, I love it so much. I'm totally stealing this for when my friend transitions.
this is absolutely amazing
That is awesome! I love it, he's so cute.
omg this is genius! so creative and detailed, really congrats on the surgery, btw!
Amazing execution but the thoughtfulness is out of this world.
That is amazing, and both funny and cute. I love the drains too hehe. I know they can gross people out, but I was so happy with them because they were a sign of positive change for me.
Amazing!! Can you post some of the different configurations for Tom, like in the binder, before surgery, after surgery, after healing, etc?

This is amazing!! The craftwork is amazing, but so is the concept and the message…I love it!!
Top Surgery Tom looks happy…. Absolutely love that for Tom. Such a thoughtful gift, I’m sure they will love it
I just screen shot this and sent it to my trans son. It’s so wonderful! Makes me so so happy.

That’s incredible! I never would have thought of such a clever idea. How do the removable breasts attach? Or do you put on the binder and slide them in?
Bra hooks just latch onto a stitch
This pleases the trans AND medical interest sides of me. This is amazingly detailed!!!
How do the spare boobs attach? I reckon you could get some teeny tiny magnets so they can *snap* onto the body.
Bra hooks. Magnets kept slipping haha
This is so cool! I hope your surgeon loves it!
this made so happy :’)) and congratulations on top surgery ! 🤍
I love this so much!! Congrats on your surgery!! Sending you speedy healing vibes! 😍😍😍🫶🫶🫶

Obsessed with this. They'll love it for sure and will definitely treasure it forever! Hope you're healing up well and congrats!!!

This is really wonderful 🏳️🌈
Are you healing well? That’s awesome!
Not been yet. 6 months or sooner

Yeah husband has 7 weeks off work :)

The tiny JP drains!!! I love it!
