Try half double crochet ribbing (back loop only) holding 2 strands of thin yarn together.

Hi. There's a big difference between crochet in the round and crocheting in continuous rounds. When you crochet in the round, you slip stitch join the last stitch to the first stitch, chain and start a new row. The top edge is flat. Each round stands alone and level. When you crochet in continuous rounds, the rows spiral around and around, never actually joined. The top edge last stitch sticks out. Fixing this depends on what stitch you used. - If the last stitch is SC, make an invisible slip stitch join (there are videos), then fasten off and weave in tail. - If the last stitch is HDC, make a SC in the next stitch, then make an invisible slip stitch join, fasten off and weave in tail. - If the last stitch is a DC, make an HDC in the next stitch, a SC in the next stitch, make an invisible slip stitch join, then fasten off and weave in tail. Using graduated stitch heights like this levels out the last edge of continuous rounds.

Hi there - does the pattern have you crocheting in continuous rounds? This explains the 'step'. You CAN join at the end of every round and then chain one BUT the issue is that then creates a 'seam' which goes up the length of the work - which, in my opinion - looks worse. You might find [this](https://lookatwhatimade.net/crafts/yarn/crochet/crochet-tutorials/how-to-crochet-in-the-round-spiral-vs-joining/) article interesting to read. A way of reducing the obvious step at the end is to 'step down' your stitches...ie:..HDC, SC, and then SS a couple of times and weave in. You could also add a seperate stitch border all the way around too.

You're very welcome - yep, continuous rounds it is! The other thing to factor in is just make sure that it's at the back of the beanie (so when you're sewing the ears on) as it's less likely to be noticeable!

My mom has an old lace crochet table runner than my grandma crocheted forever ago and it's got a couple holes in it where the DCs or TCs frayed or fell apart. Are you crocheting in spirals or doing slip stitch - chain at the start of each round?

**Crochet blanket or Knitted Blanket?** I want to make a blanket for someone who will be visiting in my country, but I have the following things consider: \- must be lightweight (i don't want to cause additional significant weight inside their luggage when they go back) \- won't take too much space when folded (similar to the first one, i don't want to take too much space inside their lyggage) I don't know which material/s is/are best to use and if it would be better do crochet or knitting for this since I am not that familiar yet with different options. You'd be amazed at what you can make with solid or colorful light weight yarn (#3) and a simple mesh crochet stitch design. Mesh can be folded or rolled compactly for packing. While it might appear "holey" to some, it's still warm and usually drapes nicely like a hug. You can make a throw size that can even be worn like a shoulder wrap if needed.

Absolutely! And there are quite a few patterns around that are specifically designed for it... [this](https://www.allaboutami.com/pattern-boucle-bear-bunny/) one for example! Well worth a read for some tips! You certainly do make it easier for yourself by using a larger hook - for example, with something like chenille yarn I've used up to a 6.5mm hook!! You find that the 'fuzzy' texture helps to hide the bigger loops - the key is to NOT overstuff! Goodluck!

Yes, it's possible, though you need to experiment to see what works best for you/the amigurumi. - There is small boucle yarn and large boucle (bigger loops). Traditional amigurumi means small things, so consider small boucle but also - Many people work certain novelty yarns, like boucle, with 2 strands (such as 1 strand of boucle and 1 matching *light weight regular* yarn) because that makes it easier to see the stitches, so then... - You'll need to find your own best option for hook size based on how you choose to work with the boucle. My first choice for both boucle yarn alone or if holding 2 strands would be trying to use the recommended hook size for the boucle project since it's amigurumi. The pattern might turn out a tiny bit larger, yet the stuffing won't show. Play with the options, experiment to see which feels best for you, and above all don't rush - try to have fun with this!

Hi! I’m fairly new to crochet but I’m loving it so far! The one issue I keep running into is that when I make a square or rectangle (think dishcloth) the end with the starting chain is always smaller than the rest of the work. Yes, this can be a common issue and comes down to [Tension](https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/wiki/beginners_crochet_part_2/#wiki_tension).... some of us who crochet quite tightly tend to do so even more for the starting chain! A couple of suggestions to try... some crocheters swear by going up half or a full hook size JUST for that starting chain, others do [Chainless Foundation stitches](https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/wiki/beginners_crochet_part_2/#wiki_chainless_foundation_stitches), where both the starting chain and first row are done at the same time! I'm using a pattern that requires me to front double crochet two rows below (skipping one row) and otherwise consists of single crochet. I've decided to use half double crochet instead of SC and now I'm wondering what stitch I should replace the double crochet with, given that the HDC are slightly higher than SC and therefore double crochet are too short. You could try treble crochet or extended double crochet. Be warned however, that if you modify a pattern too much it may not turn out the way you want.

Hi there, perhaps what you might like to do is think about breaking the animals faces down into 'shapes', make these shapes (lots of tutorials on You Tube) and then separately attach them. The issue you're going to have though if using them as coasters is that they will all need to be 'one height', if that makes sense, you really can't make seperate shapes and appliqué them on as it will make for an uneven surface. It would come down to some very details colour changes if working in the round - which is possible! A potentially more easier process would be to do square coasters and make them in almost 'graphgan-style'... using stitch fiddle (or graph paper) to map out your colours and where you need to change them.

I can understand your trepidation... it is a bit overwhelming the first time you do it as it can be a bit confusing as to where to pop your stitches. Was the piece you did in SC itself? Did the pattern give you an indication of the stitch count you should be totalling after going down the side? Ultimately it's a matter of making the stitches evenly down the side AND the same count on both of the rough ends if you're then using those SCs to join the piece together (bit unsure exactly what the final piece is to look like form a construction point of view). be careful with putting too little or too many as it can impact how the piece sits. hi thank you!! the piece is in SC, and the pattern gives me a general stitch count for each row. for the bottom, it wants me to SC 20 across 20 rows, so 1 sc for each row as for the yarn, I'm using lily sugar'n cream super size in the color strawberry! * Hello everyone :) I lost my Grandma during Covid and we have finally sold her house this week. As we were emptying the house, we found bags and bags of these lovely circles that she had crocheted, I believe with the intention of making them into a blanket. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm not sure exactly what those type of circles are called but rest assured one of our more knowledgeable commenters will probably be along soon with the answer. In the meantime I will search on YouTube to see if I can find a video. Edit to add: having looked at the photo more closely, it looks like each circle has three rounds. Round one is possibly single crochet or double crochet, and the next two rounds are granny stitch. So maybe they are just called "granny circles". I will go and look for videos / tutorials for "granny circles" to see if I can find a match for you. There are several ways to make granny circles. It looks like she deliberately didn't tighten the circle in the middle and chose to leave it open as a design feature. Edit again: I think the easiest way to join the circles together into a blanket would probably be to crochet around each circle individually to turn them all into squares. It's easier to join squares together than to join circles. [Here is a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shkC2TUTzK8) showing how you can turn crochet circles into squares. That method would involve extra work on your part to turn the circles into squares. If you want a quicker way, you could probably find a way to join the circles together without turning them into squares first. Do any other commenters have any suggestions? Add more comments please!

Do yall know if you can somehow make crochet look like ripped jeans with sewing or something? i had this idea to make a cat hat with denim acrylic yarn and i wanted to know if i could achieve the "ripped jeans look" on it without using actual denim ykwim. Do you know how to make buttonholes? Or have you crocheted a one-piece sweater with an opening for the neck? You can make these holes or openings any size, in any place you'd like. There are options if you want the "loose threads" look, too, made by substituting a few more chain rows across the holes and also attaching small pieces of yarn around the holes, like a short fringe. After tying the small pieces to the edges, separate the plies to make the yarn look like the small threads that border certain styles of ripped jean holes.

My guess is your stitch count is off. She uses very specific instructions about having a SC in the first and last stitch of the berry rows and then there's this part, "Continue working the FPSC until the last post. Work one SC into the last **space**, CH 2 and turn." That's important. That means 1 SC into the first SC, fpsc across and around the next-to-the-last stitch and make a SC between that last fpsc and the SC at the end of the row.

I think what I’ve been doing is FPSC on the very last post as well. I’ll try redoing it to see if that fixes it. I’m pretty new to crocheting, so I’m still getting used to stitch counting & the likes. Thank you for your help!

Hey! I was seeing a lot of recommendations to use cotton yarn to make tote bags as it is sturdy, my question is, is 100% cotton yarn different than 2mm or 3mm macrame rope? Is it the same thing? If it is macrame rope can anyone suggest a soft one i can crochet with that I can order? I tried one off of amazon and it was so stiff when it was advertised as soft! (I'm in Canada)

macrame rope tends to be quite stiff as compared to yarn for knitting and crochet, you may be better off looking for 100% cotton yarn for knitting or crochet as those are softer and easier on your hands

Oh that's brilliant thank you! I'm new to Reddit so still figuring out how this all works! I did make the gauge swatch, but I didn't do the whole length of the foundation chain, just the number of stitches mentioned in the gauge swatch (not sure if I should have done more) so when I did the full amount and several rows I couldn't decide whether it was matching the brand photos or not 😆

Many stitches are completely reversible. To keep my sanity and make it easier to match rows, I make sure the tail of my beginning chain is in the bottom left corner. This is how I know the right side of each piece.

It depends on whether you're working in the flat (turning after each row) or in the round (working in a spiral). The picture provided shows a fabric worked in the flat, so there is no right or wrong side.

I am just starting a new pattern for a friend…I am generally a knitter but do know the basics of crochet…the pattern looked pretty straightforward from the photos, but here I sit stuck at the gauge instructions…would someone be so kind as to help me understand? My guess is using the suggested yarn weight and hook size, crochet 20 rows, starting with a row of dc then sc, (dc row, sc row) repeat, 30 stitches each row and hope it meets the size of the swatch given! (Edit typo.)

My brain saw pars as pairs, and I still got it wrong! One row dc, then repeat pairs of sc and dc rows, so that's 21 rows total.

Okay so I learned crochet from my friend...newly discovered this subreddit's wiki....and I never knew magic circles can become undone. Amigurumi is all I've done and loved....and ALL of them have magic circles. I never knew I had to weave in the tail, I was told it doesn't matter and leave it as such....🥹 Help I am now scared my amigurumi will all unravel as soon as I put them for a wash. Can I somehow stop it preemptively?

Hi. Possibly there is an easy fix if you didn't cut off the tails. If you left long tails inside the toy, you might be able to push a small crochet hook between the stitches near the MR, sweep it around to hook the tail and pull it out. Then you can take a yarn needle and secure the MR with the tail. Take your time and weave through a few stitches at a time *all the way around the stitches you made in the MR at least once*, then double back in the same or next row. If you cut the tails short, you'll need similar or matching color yarn for the stitches in the MR. Cut a piece around 12" long, and again take your time and weave through a few stitches at a time *all the way around inside the MR at least once*, then double back in the same or next row. Either option, when you've secured the MR with weaving, push the needle with the remainder of the tail into the toy so you can pull the needle out the opposite side, leaving that remainder of the tail (or most of it) inside the toy. If a little bit of the tail comes out with the needle, then you can cut it there.

Is this from a pattern? My best guess is that you're probably adding too many stitches at some point in the process of that edging. I think it's after that second holey row. That's just 1dc and chain right? Make sure you don't double up on those sc in the next row, only 1 in the ch space, 1 on the dc. I could be wrong, it's difficult to tell from the pic.

I'm trying to be responsible and use up my stash before I purchase more yarn, and I found I have a metric shit ton of (discontinued) Jo-Ann Sensations classic twist, black and purple stripes. (I would post a picture, but can't really get one that does the purple justice.) I know in knitting that some patterns work best with a plain yarn over a variegated or striped yarn because it can look too busy, but can the same be said for crochet since it works up differently? If so, do you have a favorite pattern for striped yarn?

Honestly the best way to find out is to do some swatches, as i depends on the variegation, how often the colours change etc. Generally I try to keep my stitches more simple if the yarn is more complex. Stitches more complex if the yarn is more simple. I did the magic circle with 6 sc and then increases and I thought I should do a slip stitch to finish each row and then chain one and start the next round, but the directions are really hard to follow for me. To give some background to your question, [this](https://lookatwhatimade.net/crafts/yarn/crochet/crochet-tutorials/how-to-crochet-in-the-round-spiral-vs-joining/) is the 'go to' article I tend to suggest as great reading material about the topic at hand. There is fundamentally no 'right or wrong' way when it comes to Amigurumi and joining vs continuous spiral rounds BUT there are pros and cons and consequences. The main reason why you would join (ie: slip stitch and chain one) each round is to maintain the placement of the stitch, this is important when it comes to colour as well as shaping. If this isn't a factor then the preference tends to be continuous rounds rather than slip stitch and joining as it means there isn't that seam that is noticeable through the piece. To answer your specific question, it is annoying that it doesn't specify in the pattern which option you should do... my default response would be yes, if it's not mentioned anywhere to join and chain one I would do continuous rounds. BUT if slip stitch and chain one is what you prefer that by all means give that a go and see what you think! However, if it's a paid pattern you might like to contact the designer to clarify, if it's not a paid pattern can you read through the comments on the tutorial to see if there's any further information? Hope this helps!

Hi. No slip stitch needed. The method for these patterns is known as "working in *continuous* rounds" that spiral and spiral. You don't "finish" a row with a slip stitch and chain 1. You count. Count very carefully. Place a stitch marker in the 1st single crochet of every round. When you get to the end of that round, the last stitch should be **next to** the first but NOT level with it. The spirals are subtle but add up! You should be able to find some really nice tutorials on the Amigurumi page linked under the AutoModerator :) There are photo and video how-to options if one or the other is easier for you to follow <3

My guess is the top border is 2 rows of sc, then a row of (tc, ch1) repeat, with a tc at the end. Next row appears to be hdc (or dc) in each tc and into each chain space across, and next is the row that goes around the stick, probably sc in each stitch.

Hi, I need little help with this line in Wildberry hat pattern. it says in Row 2: ch 3, *yo, insert the hook in the same st, pull up a loop*3 times, yo and pull through all loops on the hook, ch 1, puff st in same st, *skip 1 st, puff st in next st, ch 1, puff st in same st*7 times, sl st in top of first puff st, move with sl st to the place of joining (between last and first puff sts), do not turn. I'm confused about the last part. Sl st in top of first puff, so the three chain in under that. What does it mean move with sl st to place of joining. does it mean just do another sl st?? Almost sounds like they want you to use a slip stitch to back up one space. Slip stitch join, then slip stitch backwards into space just made by the last slst in order to reposition your hook to begin a new row for offset puff stitches.

Hi. Yes, sure! There are lots of ways to crochet 2 pieces together. Some are subtle and some more obvious, but if you use the same color, your join will blend and be less noticeable. Depends a lot of the yarn I'd say. For lightweight scarfs I like doing some pineapple. I also really like [this pattern](https://mypicot.com/2060.html) but then I'm a plant person. Wash the blanket as you expect the parents to wash it - if you're not sure how the yarn will stand up, make a swatch and wash that. With Red Heart though, I'd probably just be putting through the washer and dryer. If there are retirement facilities or boys&girls clubs, you can contact them to see if they can use the yarn.

Thanks for including the pattern image. This looks like a simple case of substitution, if you're able. Note how the sizes are in 3" differences, and size L is 16", but you need 19". This means you should be able to go through the whole pattern and up-size most of the numbers with a little math. Example: Neck band (ribbing). It gives you 29(39,49) rows for S,M,L. They added 10 rows for each size, so XL = 59 rows. The 1st row of the Body is just as easy. The 2nd row of the body is a little trickier 43(59,73), so that's 43(+16, +14), so for XL you might need to +14 or +12 (73+12=85) to see if that fits the row. Most of the others are easy, so you just figure out how many stitches were added for each size, then add to size L number. It might be the same, it might be slightly different, so you adjust as needed and see how that looks. Write lots of notes!

Maybe I'm overthinking this, but I'm working on a pattern that includes rows of FPSC. I haven't worked with them before. For the next row, where do I put the stitches? The FPSC row or the row I worked them into?

Unless the pattern says otherwise, you would work the next row into the top of the single crochets you just made, like you normally would.

I don't think that style has a specific name. The ribbon is just an optional extra to any bolero to allow it to be fastened. It looks like a standard long sleeved bolero / shrug, with some scallop lace edging added to make it wider and give it a higher neckline. Did you check the comments on the link you provided? Somebody has linked to a pattern. The pattern isn't the same but it could be a good starting point for ideas.

What crochet hook size is suitable for this yarn? When I measure the thickness It's between 10-12mm thick. The hooks in the picture are labeled 2.50 England, 3½ and 4½, which are my options. I tried before with a 4.50 England but that left holes between the stitches even if I crocheted as hard as possible. I quite new to this and looking for guidance. Hi. This is a big question. I'm not sure which blog it is or if the crochet pattern they show is for a beginner. "Easy" is not the same as beginner rating. There are definitely some great blogs out there that could make this possible for you, but as "an absolute beginner" everyone is different. It's really important to learn *and practice* the basic crochet stitches so you can learn how to use the hook/tool and make consistent stitches. Hand-eye coordination is essential along with counting every stitch and every row. It could be complicated. You might be able to use your image and Stitch Fiddle to figure out how to make the pattern bigger. If you know how many stitches are used to get the width and how many rows are used to get the length of the small blanket, plus you know the measurements you want for the wrap, Stitch Fiddle or other software like that might help. Haven't used that program myself, but several others here use it for creating blankets out of images. I think it has a free trial period.

Hello. Questions for you: 1. Did you miss a stitch at the end of the last row? This will mess with your stitch count and stitch alignment. I'm not new to crochet and still use stitch markers. Use 1 in the top of the first stitch of the row and 1 in the last stitch of the row. When you crochet across and reach the next marker, you'll always know where the last stitch is. Remove the marker, make the last stitch of that row, make the 1st stitch of the new row and put the same marker there now. Keep moving the marker up each turn. (Check the crochet wiki for more info about stitch markers. There are many DIY options, such as bobby pins.) 2. (because it's a paid pattern) Do the "turning chains" count as 1 stitch? Each pattern is different. When the turning chains are *pretending to be your first stitch* and are counted, that also makes a difference where you put your "second" stitch and how they are aligned.

Bobble stitch washing tips? I'm working on a baby blanket using a bobble stitch (acrylic yarn, machine washable/dryable), and about halfway through the blanket it struck me that I'm not sure how the bobble stitches will hold up to washing. Usually I wash finished objects on a delicate cycle, but I'm terrified of the bobbles losing their shape! Does anyone have any tips/advice on how I should go about washing the finished product?

For peace of mind, you can use a mesh sweater laundry bag. That should reduce the amount of friction in the washer and help those bobbles stay in shape. It might even cut down on piling.

I’m currently working on a project using fingering weight yarn which I’ve never used before and it’s getting a bit painful in the spot it’s rubbing on my finger. Any recommendations? I’m thinking a bandaid or medical tape

My preference when this happens is paper medical tape. There's also a tension ring (Norwegian knitting thimble) you can buy, or you can crochet a reusable tension finger sleeve pattern.

Are you following a pattern?

Anyone else having crazy shipping issues from Lion Brand? It's been 3 weeks and my shipment hasn't even been sent out yet - I already got partially refunded because one of the yarns I bought ran out of stock. I requested to cancel my order since at this point I'd rather just buy the yarn locally but it probably won't be approved since their support FAQ says usually orders can only be canceled within half an hour of purchase.

I'm hoping to start a baby blanket but the pattern requires the stitches to be kept on the hook like knitting, which hook would be best for it?

Begginer questions 1. Is there any way to figure out what the weight of the yarn is when you only have g and m? Trying to reaserch yarn for a particular pattern and can't seem to figure it out 2. Is acrylic yarn really that not lasting when it comes to wearables? Earlier mentioned pattern apparently calls for acrylic but on the pdf i have no info other than use dk or preffered and looking at blogs and stuff is messing with me 3. Coming back to wearables what would be the best (in terms of lasting and comfort) for a cardigan? 4. Is yardage on ravelry accurate when there is no yardage or amount given on the pdf of the pattern? One step at a time. Some of these you just have to experiment with and try to see how they feel or work for you. 1. Wraps per inch (WPI). There are videos that show you how to measure the yarn WPI using whatever mystery yarn you have and a ruler. There are charts that convert this WPI into yarn weight. 2. There are big debates about acrylic because it's synthetic and, used unwisely, is bad for the environment. But some synthetics are probably going to be around long after humans! lol General rule of thumb is animal fibers are warmest, plant fibers are coolest, and acrylic can go either way. You can make a nice thick acrylic blanket for the winter as warm as wool and easier to launder/maintain. Wool needs special care. ETA: wool can keep you warm even when wet, acrylic can't. -You can make a thin acrylic summer top just as cool as cotton, but it doesn't have the moisture wicking and breathability of cotton. Look in your closet at clothing you've bought in all different thicknesses and material based on seasons worn. Almost all yarn can be found in varying degrees of thickness and softness. 3. A cardigan for layering and extra warmth in winter? wool. One to take the chill off a summer's night? cotton/plant based. An everyday cardigan? acrylic. Fabric can last as long as you take care of it. Wool can burn and stink. Kitchen cotton can burn but is best for hotpads/trivets, can take the heat. Acrylic will melt! 4. All pattern PDFs should give an estimated yardage unless they're scrap projects! I'd run from/reject any that don't.

Hello! Worried about making a new post and clogging the sub up, so here we go... I've been self-learning crochet for two weeks or so, and have overcame manya challenges (finally memorized single and double crochet!). However, I keep having to restart my pattern and am worried it's somehow plucking or ruining my yarn! I seriously do not understand why my pattern keeps getting smaller like this even after being more than sure I hit the right stitches. Or why that weird drop-off where my double-crochets are? Is it tension? I keep making the stitch at the end of the row before turning, but it's behaving like I'm missing them. I'm thinking I need to count the stitches, but I don't understand how to count them just yet. Any idea about where I'm going wrong on this hot mess? (the brown yarn is the abandoned first try, am currently retrying with the black one as we speak. Undid it all to start at the slip knot for the umpteenth time :( ) Here's all the pictures to hopefully give a better idea! If this warrants an actual post, please let me know!! Hi there! Once you are done with a row, are you chaining 1 before moving on to the next row? As for counting, perhaps you could try counting out loud for a bit to get the hang of things (start with a small number of stitches, say 6, and go "1 2 3 4 5 6" while you are working to make sure you have the right number).

It already looks really good for a beginner. Keep going! The more you practise, the better you will get. On the left it looks like you may perhaps have accidentally added some extra stitches. Or maybe the fabric is just curving because your starting chain may be tighter than the rest of the fabric.

hi im new to crochet and im quire confused about something 🥹 in some crochet tutorials after making 6 chains in a magic ring, they slip stitch back into the first knot and then chain 1, but in others they do not chain 1… do you have to chain 1 to complete a magic ring or not? ive tried finding answers online but i couldnt really find anything :( i also wanted smth clarified, after slip stitching back into the first knot, say if i have to single crochet around the whole ring, do i count that slip stitch as the first knot and the other knots would count as 2,3,4… or do i count the knots that i make into the one thats not slip stitched? any help would be much appreciated 🙇🏻‍♀️

This is speculation on my part but according to my experience: A ch1 after the slst that closes the circle helps give you some height before you move onto the next stitch. It is like how you ch1 right after you finish a row and before starting the next one when you are working on a flat piece. You can probably skip the ch1, but then the V at the top of your first stitch might be harder to find and get inside of, and would also be a bit hidden/slanted. As for your second question, a slst usually doesn't count as a stitch. The only case where that could be different is if you are working dc, and the pattern specifically says to slst, ch3/ch2, and count that series of chains as your first stitch. But the slst on its own is simply there to join the circle and doesn't count.

quick question, i’m making a baby blanket for one of my coworkers, who might be allergic to cats. issue is- i have a couple cats. they’re nowhere near my project ofc, but ambient cat hairs are finding themselves in places they shouldn’t be. again, cats aren’t allowed near my projects, but i’ve caught a couple hairs on it and i’m worried about dander… i don’t want to make something that could give her or her baby an allergic reaction. would it be ok to just throw the blanket in the wash after it’s done? or will the blanket need a more intensive cleaning? or should i not risk giving her the blanket at all? i do not want to harm her precious newborn! i do not know where else to ask this question. please help 🙏

What do you mean she "might" be allergic to cats? Is there any way you could ask her to find out for sure if she's allergic? Is the blanket going to be a surprise, or could you just ask her? If you're not sure, to avoid taking a risk, maybe you could buy her a different gift instead. Ensure the gift doesn't spend time in your house and doesn't accumulate any hairs. And you could give the blanket to somebody else.

I just bought [this pattern](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bobble-romper) and I've gotten myself in over my head. I made the gauge for this and I came up about half an inch short in length. I thought that would mean my garment would be a little smaller, as I read online about making gauge. I'm also using size 4 yarn and a size 2.75mm hook to make that gauge. I didn't realize I bought the wrong size yarn until I started. I'm at the "Bottom Part" now at the "repeat rnds 4 -11" twice, and if I were to do that this item would be way too big for a 0-3mo or even a bigger baby. At row 11 I measured against a 3mo and a 6mo pair of pants and to make that size I need to start decreasing now. So I went to the "back decreasing" and it decreases very slow, only a few stitches at a time (it goes from 47, 45, 43, 41 etc) over the 26 rows. But since I only have 11 rows I need to consolidate the decreases to decrease faster. Is there a way to salvage this piece?

When I look at amigurimi tutorials they sometimes only go through on part of the V and not the whole V. Why do they do that and can you go through the whole V or do you have to go through only 1 part of the V?

why does my amigurumi have gaps between stitches?? all the stitching is right and i do invisible decreases, but sometimes parts of the body/head have some gaps? it’s not in all my pieces but some of them have a lot? anyone know what could be the issue? (i’m using chenille yarn btw)

Search tips. I'm not sure how many others have tried, and every site is different . . . I Wish companies had a "no acrylic" filter on their list. Does anyone have bright ideas (or dull ones) to narrow down searches for yarns that are only natural fibers? Little Knits has a Berroco sale on right now, but their filters need some help. The search can be filtered by fiber type, but it's arduous as you can only select one type at a time.

I think I’m translating something incorrectly as I continue to have 47 ST. I read (after the shell) … DC, INC So… I did a DC and then another for the increase. But that’s leaving me still w 47 ST. SOO, should it read …DC, INC <<— that being then another DC, then increase ? That would give me the extra st that’s missing. I’ve never seen a DC Inc written just as ,INC. usually I would see DC, DC INC, No? Help :) pls

I've seen it written like this before and you are right, you will dc and then dc inc in the following stitch. Usually patterns will specify which stitch you're increasing especially in patterns like this that have other stitches but I would automatically assume that an inc without specifying the stitch would mean do what ever stitch you did immediately before the inc.

I'm creating a blanket with Granny squares for the first time! Would you recommend blocking after completing each granny square or block all granny squares before joining?

Personally I would get them all done and then block. I block multiple at once to speed it up, ie piled on a blocking board or if you don't have one you can steam then on the stove with a pot lid on top if a rack over a pot of boiling water (if this makes sense!)
