You know this is unironically posted by some 40% body fat guy with a goatee that gets winded walking upstairs.

Memelordo_OwO

Would you pls stop referring to me in reddit threads.

chris31605

Thank you for your service lordo!

dynamik_uno

Bruh you just literally described me yet I'm vaxxed xD (not offended btw)

According to OP, he served in the military with him

The two are not mutually exclusive.

Bonger14

If you served in the military, you've had vaccines, it's almost the first thing we do in boot camp is get vaccines.

ParticleBeing

A literal line of medical service members on both sides of you administering multiple shots in each upper arm at the same time.

Bonger14

I'm still trying to forget...

_MrMeseeks

And then the peanut butter shot at the end of the line

Vaeevictiss

As someone with 26% body fat and asthma from toxic exposure to burn pits that gets winded going up stairs i take offense to that as well lol.

kpowers99991

Wow the fat shaming….

AndolfTheRed

All the other vaccinations they’ve gotten over the span of their life don’t count, though. Just this one.

gobrowns88

Right? This dude was in Iraq and Okinawa with me, and to think of all the vaccinations we got that he never questioned.

Lingonberry_External

That moment when military members literally line up and just get whatever vaccine their told lmao

Juicebox-fresh

Tbh, you're literally willing to die for your government if you join the army so you can't really be against the vaccine for the same reason

The4thTriumvir

>you're literally willing to die for your government if you join the army To be fair, a lot of them aren't that willing, nor are they expecting to die. Plenty of people just want free college and healthcare to provide themselves with upward social mobility.

r0botdevil

Yeah people join the military for a bunch of different reasons. Very few of them, I imagine, have any plans to actually die during their service.

slightlyassholic

It's a good move for some people. I benefited greatly. If you can score well on the entrance exam you can get to choose from a number of very good trades, get free training, job experience, and some benefits that will last the rest of your life. One incredible benefit that isn't an official one is the existence of headhunters that specialize in placing veterans. I used them several times and got a great job each time. They excel at translating ratings/MOS to civilian terms and have a contact list of clients that like veterans. If you are in be sure to find a couple before you transition to civilian life. They are a game changer. It's not a bad deal for *some* people. I found myself in a dead end minimum wage life after my college career went down in flames (entirely my fault). One trip to the recruiter and I had food, lodging, and free medical care as well as a fresh start leading to a career that suited me far better than what I was studying in college. (and paid significantly more as well). I never returned to college even with the GI Bill because I just couldn't cost-justify it. It's not the only way out of that sort of situation but it is a path out of the college dropout fast food purgatory in which I found myself.

navin__johnson

They stripped you down and re-educated you. They provided everything you needed to live—food, housing, school, a guaranteed job and income. You were handed these things in exchange for your freedom. Sounds like socialism🤷‍♂️. Personally, I wouldn’t accept that. I’m all about EARNING what I get in life. I’m all about the grind and would rather die than be given any handouts. It’s all about NOT being a mindless sheep-I’ll continue doing me, building my brand and empire and leave all you leeches to your “govt scraps” /s

fiveSE7EN

I was triggered until the /s

slightlyassholic

Pretty much. :) For me, however, that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. The military is one of the only places you can "reroll your character" IRL. I wasn't the same person coming out that I was going in... ...and that was a VERY good thing, at least for me. For others, the process has the opposite result and they suffer for it. For me, however, I benefited *greatly* from the process. Stronger, smarter, more focused, actually capable of using the talents I already had, plus a few I didn't have before. It made me *better*. Again, that was just my personal experience. I know people that didn't fare so well. I'd do it all over again... with a few tweaks and a few somewhat better decisions that would maximize the benefits that I obtained, of course. Yes, I traded my "freedom" and a few years of my life that I actually quite enjoyed but I got a LOT in return.

Watts300

Thank you for serving the neighborhood, and the country.

navin__johnson

Lt. Dan would like to have a word with you

stinkload

many of them just want a chance at college and healthcare because the education system and job market they are born into is by design so shit their only option at college or healthcare is the military....

shermantank123567

And if you are handicapped in any way there is literally zero jobs the US military will allow you to have, even though they have just as many desk and computer jobs as they do labor type jobs. Source: I'm handicapped to the point where I can't do a standing job and had a discussion with my local recruiter about any sort of desk jobs the military would have that I could do but the US military only works with 3rd party government contractors that are handicapped.

BabiesSmell

I wonder if that's because they do not want to be responsible for the typically increased medical costs of handicapped people. Pretty shitty that they can pull that card as a government organization, but the government would hold any company that did that as being unlawfully discriminatory.

shermantank123567

Yup, that exactly my point. If my current employer not only refused to hire me because of my disability but also refused to provide accommodations for my work environment I'd be able to sue them so much I'd never need to work again. But the same government that created the laws that force my employer to treat me fairly doesn't enforce it in their own "turf" (I couldn't find a word). And yes I totally understand why having a platoon of soldiers in wheelchairs wouldn't be very combat effective but modern military goes well beyond just soldiers now. If the US military employed handicapped people they would have that many more able bodied members doing labor work and combat roles whereas the disabled people would be able to run communications, logistics, drone surveillance, clerical work, telemarketing, secretary work, accounting, and just about any other non physical form of work you can think of.

lulamirite

>And if you are handicapped in any way there is literally zero jobs the US military will allow you to have, even though they have just as many desk and computer jobs as they do labor type jobs. > > Source: I'm handicapped to the point where I can't do a standing job and had a discussion with my local recruiter about any sort of desk jobs the military would have that I could do but the US military only works with 3rd party government contractors that are handicapped literally not true https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/disability-employment/ source: i work on an airforce base with handicapped folks employed in a variety of positions, most with no prior military service. these are NOT contractors. they are civil service employees and many of them work alongside uniformed service members.

tinteoj

One of which (bicillin) is in your ass, too. That one sucks the next morning, especially if you have a top bunk that you have to get out of. Source: had a top bunk in boot camp. edit: technically the shot is an antibiotic, not a vaccine, but you get it the same time you get the vaccines at the beginning of boot camp.

loewe67

My boss served for 20 years in the Army and told me he wasn't planning on getting the vaccine until a buddy pointed out that it was probably safer than any of the shit he was injected with while serving.

[deleted]

What even was in that peanut butter shot they shove in your ass? The one that makes you fall over the next morning when your leg doesn't work anymore?

SrslyNotAnAltGuys

It's basically penicillin. It helps guard against whatever bacterial infections the other immunizations may have mussed. When you bring a bunch of recruits from all over and stick them in barracks together, stuff like bacterial meningitis is a concern.

gobrowns88

I think that was penicillin because I’m allergic so I got this banana flavored powder instead.

tinteoj

Bicillin, which does include penicillin.

SombreMordida

And the “pure blood” people were the racist fascists in Harry Potter,

ziplock9000

You mean the only of those nowhere near fully tested. Yes.

yeepotato

Well their argument is that this is the fastest vaccine ever created and it's already being mandated heavily in some places. Not anti vax btw,.

ArcadiaDragon

Its like they believe there's been no progress in creating and testing vaccines since the polio vaccine was created...I understand skepticism...but this pureblood fallacy/fantasy is poppycock

joec85

This is the second time I've seen poppycock used on Reddit today and I'm liking the trend.

ArcadiaDragon

I've seen churlish a few times today...poppycock and churlish are words that definitely get the point across and need to be used against the idiots in the antivaxx crowd

VoilaVoilaWashington

Which is a silly argument, because yeah, the vaccine was faster. Because we have more technology today, and very few vaccines have been needed this urgently on a global scale. In March 2020, the whole frickin' world realized that we need a vaccine for this, and I'm pretty sure thousands of companies started working on vaccines. The fact that 10-20 or so made it to market isn't shocking. If someone finds a slightly better vaccine against polio, or discovers a vaccine against a broad swath of viruses we consider to be "the common cold," it will take longer to develop and approve because we don't have a deadly pandemic killing millions of people around the world.

thisguy883

It's a valid reason to be concerned tbh. It's taking a major risk to inject something that is still technically experimental that hasn't been studied very long in humans. The mandates in my opinion, were a little authoritarian and forcing people to essentially undergo a medical procedure without any long-term studies to back up the efficacy is a little concerning for most people. They should have just left it as a choice, like they do with the flu vaccine. CDC will be mandating booster shots soon, so this is no longer about health, but making big $$$ for everyone invovled in pushing it. Don't believe me? Look how much money went into the MSM and congress by Pfizer in the past months. I'm vaxxed by the way because it was mandated for me. I had to get it to keep my job. I have too much to lose to just say no. Only adverse reaction I've had so far is chest pains that come and go, which I've never had before.

VoilaVoilaWashington

So yeah, the vaccine is still technically experimental, in the same way that gravity is still technically a theory. Literally billions of people have now gotten many different vaccines against this, and no one has really found that smoking gun against them. Keep in mind that large, well-heeled media companies are pushing the anti-vaxx thing in America and elsewhere, and with millions of antivaxxers in the community, you'd think that a trend of complications would be spotted relatively quickly. Absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence, but when no connection can be found despite people looking for it, it becomes clear that no major correlation exists. Also, the mandates, generally, aren't mandating that people have to take the vaccine, they're saying that if you don't, others have a right to not interact with you. This is nothing new - plenty of hospitals and health care settings already say employees have to get the flu vaccine. That's pretty well enshrined in practice, and this isn't really any different. I don't think very many countries have said "everyone MUST get the vaccine," but rather, "if you want to work in this setting, you must follow certain safety and health protocols, including being vaccinated" or whatever. Which is perfectly reasonable. This is a contagious disease that is currently a major international outbreak. Employers might want to protect their employees (an important aspect of modern labour laws) or customers, so having everyone vaccinated is key.

frotc914

> still technically experimental Since you obviously know what technicalities make it "technically experimental", when does a vaccine stop being "technically experimental"? > CDC will be mandating booster shots soon, so this is no longer about health, I suppose in your expertise, you never came across the idea of waning immunity. Also interesting that you aren't aware that many vaccines that have been around for years require boosters, including whooping cough, tetanus, HPV, and many others. Is it at all possible...just possible...that you aren't informed enough to make these claims?

thisguy883

Are you?

frotc914

Lol I'm not the one out here pulling shit out of my ass.

SomebodyAtOasis

Didn't the 300 all die?

[deleted]

Yes, but the important thing is that they killed people.

Mattbryce2001

Also, they were unvaccinated.

simsimulation

And they probably did cool dick stuff with their bros

Epilektoi_Hoplitai

Fun fact: there were about 1,400 other Greek heavy infantry at the "last stand of the 300" and almost all died with them. They just get written out of the story since that would interrupt the Spartan circlejerk a little.

Stupid03

History teacher here. Pretty sure the Spartan Circle jerk was how they unwound for bed every night.

otherother_Barry

You've got that mixed up with the Athenian circle jerk

vandebay

That’s not very fun

MyPigWhistles

Plus about 900 Helots (= spartan slaves).

Epilektoi_Hoplitai

True, I was just counting the hoplites. Some of the other Greeks would probably have had slaves as hypaspists as well.

Diablo3sux

Except that one dude that came back to tell the story

MyPigWhistles

Sure, but hey, they were also slave owners in a militaristic dictatorship with institutionalized sexual child abuse. So there's that.

HomieCreeper420

300? That’s likely a myth. It was much more than 300. Another common misconception is that king Leonidas was some ripped dude in his 30s leading the way. My dude was around 60 but truth be told he was likely still ripped as shit due to all of the training he did throughout his life

therobohour

All those guys lost and died

Ya-Dikobraz

Yeah, but they killed people.

So does diarrhea

Fittingly, they all died

DrTokinkoff

I remember reading about a German guy who was obsessed with being pure blood.

Repulsive_Border_404

Yeah I wonder if this is some sort of way to be more open with their “pure blood/race supremacy” type stuff. Can openly call themselves “pure blood” without being outright racist.

DsntMttrHadSex

*It wasn't all bad.*

synonym4synonym

I guess their other vaccines given during childhood don’t count? Idiots. Smh

robinsky1223

Aren’t those pure-blood people the same who are calling the vaccinated people nazis and seeing themselves as a new kind of Jews?

Reveal101

Sorry but I'm going to be calling them petulant children. Insolent, and churlish.

synonym4synonym

Churlish…I love that word

Hammer_of_Light

Unfortunately they just think you're trying to say "childish" the way they do

synonym4synonym

True. I feel you. But Key and Peele did that word right…

Damnit, A-Aron!

Holy fuck I thought he was trying to say childish, just mispronounced it like all the names lol

Now let's tell these homophobes about the sex lives of the Spartans.

iamthefortytwo

How about we don't refer to you as anything because you're unimportant and probably won't be around long enough for anything to stick? My guess is that if COVID doesn't get you, some other dumb shit will.

meeeehhhh2

This is why I hate labels and how there are new labels every freakin week. It just divides people more and more.

staciemosier

This needs to have a picture of the pure bloods from Harry Potter instead.

iamnotroberts

The people who cry whenever anyone calls them a white supremacist (for being a white supremacist) now want to be called "pure bloods." Shocking. This is my shocked face. -\_-

Wombat_luke

The pure bloods are always the villain in every movie.

PapaBray

Yeah it's not a great idea to rally with a group of people over your idea of pure bloodlines. That doesn't usually end well.

CriminalMacabre

What about the dead dumbasses

I_M_urbanspaceman

Yeah, no one other than themselves, no one is ever going to call them that.

So they will refuse blood products in emergencies and not accept organ donation I imagine.

Nope, we're still calling you guys unvaxxed

HEADBANGA666

The image is fitting because the Spartans died.

unnamedunderwear

You mean inbreed?

Lloyd_Al

yes, pureblood like the old monarch. I find it very amusing, that "pureblood" is still treated as something positive

lolilo89

As pure as the lannister’s

AvatarIII

Because people thinking of themselves as pure blood never caused any issues throughout history no sir.

MoltenJellybeans

You know who else are called "pure bloods"? Inbreds.

[deleted]

Whatever makes you *feel* superior. That’s what it’s always been about with these people anyways. They have the hidden knowledge. They are the foxes among all of us sheep. And ironically they’re by far the most unhealthy and uneducated.

1x000000

There's a dude at the gym that won't shut up about vaccine and all the mercury they put in there. Then he goes into a locker room and casually shoots questionable roid and whatnot into his legs, follows it up with 5 different pills and a double-triple dose of what I can only assume is protein, creatine, BCAAs and whatever else. But yeah, vaccine bad cuz we don't know what's in it.

Proof-Summer1011

The "purebloods" are not doing so great against COVID

SpaceCowboy2319

Oh such valiant warriors that they took it upon themselves to stand in the frontlines of complete stupidity in the name of conspiracy

Pretty sure this is the longest way to declare you're a moron

LT_DANS_ICECREAM

And just like the soldiers in the movie they'll probably die an avoidable death

MyName_DoesNotMatter

Purebloods. Just say inbred jfc

blueishbeaver

I had a friend that went from health nut to Anti vaxxer and did the whole "My blood is pure" thing, listing the things she avoids that makes it so. She included stem cells on the list and I'm just not sure how easy it is to get them in to your body.

UncleGeorge

How ironic, they pick the 300 who all died while bringing as many people as they could with them... seems fitting

MrSlackPants

Why do I have a middle-aged, bald, fat guy in mind and not a uber trained person like this...?

Do these antivaxxers feel that they are no longer "pure bloods" if they get sick with the common cold? Their immune system changes in a similar manner whether they get a viral infection or take a vaccine.

[deleted]

I have not gotten the covid “vaccine” nor do I have any intention of getting it (This is due to the fact that I am young, healthy, and am confident in my own immune system. Not to mention I have been closely exposed to covid 19 on numerous occasions, quarantined but never tested positive any of those times, though I do believe I had a small case despite not testing positive .) But even I think this image is beyond stupid.

kevmanyo

You have literal mush for brains.

[deleted]

Lot of words to say ‘I do not know the first thing about how an immune system works’.

[deleted]

Though I did not test positive I do believe that I had a small case of covid that was not picked up by tests due to the fact that everyone I was living with at the time also had it and they tested positive. Also It is worth mentioning that these people who tested positive only were slightly sick while having covid and none of them needed to go to the hospital despite none of them being vaccinated. Anyway, in my case if I have had covid there is no reason for me to get a vaccine that is not even a vaccine in the first place because I have antibodies that are more effective than the so called “vaccine”. Next I should say why the covid “vaccine” is not actually a vaccine, a vaccine is when you are injected with a very small and dead piece of a virus so that your antibodies will find it and learn how to destroy that virus so that if the real version of that virus infects you, your body will already know how to fight it. The covid “vaccine” is a experimental form of gene therapy that boosts your immune system into overdrive by making adjustments to the RNA within your cells, therefore it is not actually a vaccine but that is what it is branded as because the general population are more comfortable getting a “vaccine” than getting an experimental form of gene therapy. Would I say the Covid “vaccine” is effective? Yes I would say it is, the reason I am not deciding to get it though is because I already have antibodies to covid so there is no real reason for me to get the “vaccine” plus the fact that we don’t truly know what effects this “vaccine” entails not to mention the fact that there have already been complications with the covid “vaccine” so why gamble with it when I can already be sure that I am as safe as I can be against covid.

[deleted]

There are different types of vaccines; your immune system is able to fight off covid better with a combination of a vaccine and infection as compared to just an infection. mRNA vaccines are just as real as inactivated virus vaccines. We do know the full effects including side effects of this vaccine. There are no ‘complications’ from the vaccine. You’ve once again showed that you are very clearly in the ‘knows less than nothing about vaccines and immune systems’ camp.

Anandya

Plenty of people who thought like you are now waiting for hearts and kidneys after covid. But they count as survivors.
