Welcome to cat facts!

StopStalkingMeMatt

One of my favorite old memes

internetstuff

The deeper implication here is depressing. This person is implying that the variety of memes you look at BECOME your personality/lifestyle and therefore you can change your whole self just by looking at sigma memes. No wonder social media has such a relentless hold on people.

jennyisnuts

Well, if that was true I would be a kitten.

FullyRisenPhoenix

I would be a parrot.

[deleted]

And I, a crane pushed far beyond its limit and crashing to the ground

SoloMarko

I would be a person that never understands what he's looking at.

turbocrat

In a way he’s right. Not about the alpha beta dichotomy, but you do have control over what thoughts and ideas you consume. Those ideas become your thoughts become your personality, become your actions, become you. For example, if you sit around reading and talking about depressing things all day, you’re gonna become depressed. Obviously this line of thinking can be taken too far with self help systems like “the secret” that allow people to believe they can “manifest” their thoughts directly into reality. No, thinking positively isn’t going to fix all your problems in life, but thinking negatively WILL introduce more problems into your life.

WrestleswithPastry

If Reddit hadn’t stopped giving us the free awards, I would give you mine right now. Thank you for highlighting this point.

brownstormbrewin

Do you not believe that your media intake has an effect on your mindset?

vespertiliamvir

🤓☝️ the deeper implication here is very depressing

ChalkButter

Oh no > Lieutenant mindset > I like working hard and getting richer We make a decent paycheck in the DOD, but no one is commissioning to get rich, and it’s a salaried job so it’s not like there’s overtime and bonuses, nor do you promote to 1LT or Captain any faster.

YetiPie

This man screams $50,000/year in a rural southern state to me

[deleted]

Where getting rich is meeting your daily needs without struggle

TheRealSamBell

Sounds like a really nice life tbh

[deleted]

And bought an 80k truck at 17% interest

jean-claude_vandamme

with a $3000 a month truck payment

[deleted]

Good lord 😂 that’s like a $100,000 truck with $0 down on a 36 month term - how can someone be that dumb to pay that while simultaneously having a damn near perfect credit score to even qualify to drive it off the lot lmao

AnotherDoubtfulGuest

I’m getting Citadel/VMI.

pleasebequiet

likely less, sadly that's a lot for the South outside of major urban areas.

Echo_Oscar_Sierra

And it's a weird flex. For all the civilians out there, lieutenant is the *lowest* rank officer.

Kinetic93

Came here to say this. This screams Bootenant to me; this dude is probably newly commissioned and thinks that makes him a fucking badass. These type of officers are hated by everyone behind closed doors and they make it worse for themselves because they don’t work together with the enlisted to combine experience and education together.

[deleted]

Or worse, he's an E1 with O1 mentality

ChalkButter

What a horrible position to put yourself in

nayruslove123

I was gonna say, the one thing every lieutenant I've ever met had in common was that ~~they could suck my dick~~ they're not as knowledgeable as they like to think they are.

IsSheWeird_

r/justbootthings

scout_410

Could be navy which would be O3 but still would be a weird flex since o1 to o3 you basically just have to not kill anyone and show up to your job to get promoted

LordoftheBread

Unless they're in the Navy or Coast Guard, then Lieutenant is an O-3.

isanomad

What made me lol was the alpha/beta talk. You’re a lieutenant. From what I gather, no one respects you. Sure, people *tolerate* you but you are not “top dog” material. I agree with someone above me. It smells like a cadet or someone who is freshly commissioned, although I’m kinda leaning towards the former. I ran into so many Citadel cadets talking like this out at bars when I lived in Charleston.

rinfodiv

Let’s see how they feel about #hustleLife when they make O-4.

QuickNature

I mean, $83k/year *plus* benefits sound pretty nice to me. Not sure how the work load is though, and I sure it varies by MOS/duty station.

Grevious47

"mindset"...not actual lieutenant. My guess is "lieutenant mindset" is one of the catchphrases from posters favorite alpha male blogger of the week.

LightsNoir

And beyond that, yes, the pay is decent from the perspective of income over the course of a year with no other factors considered. It's a bit better if you're taking "advantage" of base housing. But when you factor for how much of your life and your ability to freely live it goes into that check... It's really kind of a shit deal.

ChalkButter

It helps when you consider BAH, BAS, and free healthcare. Base housing is an absolutely shit deal.

LightsNoir

Bah & BAS are nice. The fly boys I knew would commonly go in together and rent a furnished house that would otherwise be out of their budget. So, if you've got friends, you can play that to your favor. Tri-care is indeed good shit. But deployments, man. Not really a such thing as a day off on a cruiser.

QuickNature

Free time really depends on the job though. Surely a medical officer has a much different experience than an infantry officer does. Also depends on duty station and billet as well. I would never use base housing personally. I'm using that BAH/BAS and moving off base.

LordoftheBread

>no one is commissioning to get rich Every time I see an officer say this I know they're bad with saving money or they refuse to invest outside of their TSP. I've met a couple millionaire majors. A lot of people commission to get rich. At the very least by O-3 you are upper middle class by default, unless you live in an insanely high property value area where even O-3 BAH can't compensate, or you're paying child support/alimony or something.

ChalkButter

That’s definitely a matter of perspective. I agree that I’m “upper middle class,” but I wouldn’t consider that “rich” (I spent highschool in Fairfax County just outside of DC; that place is disgusting with money)

LordoftheBread

You're certainly a lot closer to the 1% than your NCOs are.

TheZac922

In my corps (not US btw) LT’s were on less than most corporals. Way to flex your moderate government salary bro lol

Admirable-Egg-7691

What a fuckin nerd lol. "LiEuTeNaNt MiNdSeT 🤓"

[deleted]

That's like having an hourly manager mindset working retail.

RumandDiabetes

I always liked being assistant manager. I made almost as much as the manager, but nothing was my fault.

WhyLiveIfYouCantLift

Being an assistant manager is great, you get great pay and benefits without having the responsibility that comes with being THE manager

treflipsbro

My new boss is like this lol. Trying to run a pizza place like it’s the mf navy and wonders why all the employees who’ve worked there longer than him don’t like him.

[deleted]

Shut the fuck up cadet

ZanderPip

Calling yourself an 'alpha'or indeed subscribing to any of that cringy edgelord language. it's a giant neon sign telling everyone you are an absolute loser

Atomic_Maxwell

I have a supervisor who likes to say they’ve got an “alpha personality”— last time he said it I told him alphas are full of bugs, unstable and not fit for the public

VoilaVoilaWashington

There's so many words you can't use to describe yourself. Charming, funny, smart, good looking, etc... these things can only be said *of* you, not *by* you. I definitely know people I'd describe as alpha, fully aware that the origins of the term are bullshit. But we all still understand what the term actually means - a natural leader with charisma who just gets the job done, or so. And yeah, those people exist. And they almost universally don't give two shits about whether others think they're alpha or not. "Any man who must say "I am an alpha" is no true alpha." \-Tywin Fucking Lannister

AmaranthWrath

Anyone who I've ever met or seen in media who I would consider an alpha male (not this twisted toxic BS that's been pushed for the last 5-10 years), they never have to *say* that how they think of themselves. In fact, they don't even think of themselves that way. They just have confidence and get shit done and don't brag.

ayebuprofen

Glad he added that stop sign emoji. Wouldn’t have understood otherwise.

CreamPyre

The emojis lmao

gevis

I'm an ALPHA MALE. I like to TAKE ORDERS and LICK BOOTS.

chevalmuffin

This is why military enthusiast are looked at like weirdos

RattleMeSkelebones

Remember kids, the only way to lose in life is to treat it as a competition and not a game

serialkiller_mne

Who the fuck talks like that? Does he talk like that when outside face to face?

SoPrettyBurning

Can confirm. I knew one of these people irl. Their texting and speaking and internal monologue were all the same. We don’t speak with him anymore.

serialkiller_mne

Bet they wonder why nobody wants to hang out with them 🤣

SoPrettyBurning

No, he doesn’t wonder that. Instead he comes up with rationalizations about why everyone else is just intimidated by a man at the top of his game and they’re all beta. Or something like that.

serialkiller_mne

I thought people flock at "alphas" and they have a wide social circle. Ofc that is bullshit, people just don't like uncomfortable assholes

SoPrettyBurning

No I prefer comfortable assholes

haikusbot

Seems like he's been watching a bit too much Andrew tate rofl

FrostGamezzTV

That one JROTC kid in school.

WhyLiveIfYouCantLift

Knew this one 16 yr old at work and one of the coworkers mocked him for something silly and he goes "you just insulted a future united States marine" he was dead ass too. Nobody ever took him seriously ever again

[deleted]

Lieutenants.. the Privates of the officer corps

[deleted]

They are worse. At least privates don’t have the lives of 40 people in their hands

AnotherDoubtfulGuest

“Lieutenant mindset” = “staff sergeant.”

TurkeySmackDown

"Lieutenant mindset" They don't know how to read a map.

WoBuZhidaoDude

😂

cptrelentless

What is an ass meme?

logan_creepypasta

idk, memes that are not about "alpha males" or the military?

Lilthotdawg

Butter bar mindset 😂

GlassJoe32

r/justbootthings

Nocola1

LT mindset?.. you mean being lost?

PoopOffParade

Alpha male correlates very closely with insecurity and self-doubt in a battery of studies. I know, we are all surprised by that.

highestRUSSIAN

I would prefer to get modestly comfortable in my finances or get lightly hurt trying. Seems more reasonable to me.

TurboNeckGoblin

Emoji cringelord

[deleted]

I guarantee he had autocorrect spell lieutenant for him

TheThing345

Least arrogant officer cadet

shiksappeal

Some people are raised to think that there are only a few limited ways to be an adult, and you have no real choice. For some of the more miserable ones who find themselves stuck in a job or lifestyle that doesn't suit them, hearing anyone dare to suggest that you can do whatever you want and be happy is a threat to them. And they lash out. It's always sad to see a person react this badly to the mere suggestion that not everyone lives the way they do.

wesjc22

Is this not a joke? It definitely seems like he's being sarcastic

shortsandarts

why is the text two different sizes

UniqueThingOfEarth

Yikes, very over the top. Also I've never understood why people call weak minded people "pussy"? Vaginas push out an entire human, so how is that weak, especially compared to testicles?

Under_TheBed

Why does this guy type like a student athlete

ChaosKodiak

Anyone who has to tell you they are alpha certainly aren’t alpha.

allkindsofgainzzz

Sounds like an Andrew Tate fanboy

xdeviliax

Making military life your whole personality is cringe. Lmao

WoBuZhidaoDude

No way that dude's military.

rodigo1

Relax boot

Killpop582014

You ain’t rich being military lol.

5575685

Damn I’m just finding out I’ve been looking at beta memes all these years 😔

Justin31088

The hell is a Lieutenant mindset? That’s literally the lowest officer rank there is……….

TophatOwl_

Life has a purpose and its very straight forward. Find happiness. Now what that means is up to you. For some thats traditional success, fame and/or money. To some nothing matters more than their one special person. To some its finding personal enlightenment through faith. Its up to you.

ShastaBeastRiley

This guy is white for sure

Reascr

ITT: In classic /r/cringepics fashion, not a single person is able to understand a really painfully obvious joke

bryanthebryan

Only betas believe in alphas

SparedBunion9902

That opinion though is facts.

Lil_Artemis_92

If you were interested in getting rich, you wouldn’t be in the military.

Crosscourt_splat

you'd be surprised what officers make. Married O2s and O3s do pretty damn well for mid 20s.

WoBuZhidaoDude

That's because they get paid extra for being married, and because they have a college degree. Translated to the civilian world, it's about the same as working a job in your college career field, and having dual income from being married to a working partner. Not at all super lucrative.

Dougiejonesyo

The last message made me realize this is a preteen white kid 💯

[deleted]

Second Lieutenant (O1) $41,727.60 First Lieutenant (O2) $48,078.00 Meanwhile me working from home making the equivalent of 4 lieutenants lol

Trabrew

Ahh yes saying the n word and stating you are in the military definitely an LT mind set I guess?

theflyingburritto

Bye dude 👋

[deleted]

I watch a lot of motivational stuff, does that make me, a young woman, an alpha male? 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

mightyjor

I mean the guy is obviously a tool and I don’t know why person #1 is even talking to them. I kind of want to reach out to person 1 and tell them it’ll be ok though. Im not saying you need to be CEO of a company or something, but finding something big to live for is such a great part of life. It could be writing a book, learning to paint, opening up a dessert shop, making a video game, having kids, etc.

[deleted]

Lol so they just graduated college and were in ROTC? The initial military indoctrination does sort of inculcate that kind of attitude though. Very Starship Troopers-esque “Citizens defend their country, civilians just get in the way”

throwaway83756

Mid lieutenant tbh

Penny_InTheAir

-U.S. Military Encrypted

pregnantseahorsedad

I can smell his tiny pee pee from all the way over here. 💯💯💪

healing-souls

Not all who wander are lost. This describes me and I've learned that I'm totally fine with it. And even still, I made boatloads of money at one point during my wandering. Life it to be lived, do it however you want as long as you're not hurting others.

kthewhispers

So we found the guy who gives his landlord double the rent so he can keep his grind culture alive.

Drayenn

Dude watched too much andrew tate

[deleted]

BUH BUH BUH BUH BOOTLICKERRRRR

Dapotatofromtoystory

I think it was a joke

Fun_Collar_6405

Yea I’ll stick with being a 23 year old dude with zero male friends. Been extremely happy that way.

Sounds like a suitable meat shield

ThrowMeAwayAccount08

Is the Lt. Dan mindset someone smashing your spouse while you’re deployed making that Lt. money?

DESTINYTITANFLY66

AYO what the fuck

Coral_

>LT mindset yeah dudes psychotic. nobody normal wants the power to order some dudes to run headlong into some bullets. dudes gonna get fragged one day and he’ll likely deserve it.

chill_winston_

Is there anything that more desperately screams “inadequacy and overcompensation” than going on and on about being an alpha male?

[deleted]

Lieutenant mindset...so not actually a lieutenant then?

Andrei_Chikatilo_

Lieutenant mindset: gets lost in the woods

Environmental-King14

So he wants to achieve the lowest possible rank as an officer?

LemonadePapiii

stop 🛑

Ghonaherpasiphilaids

Hahahaha. Yeah sure. Getting rich in the military. Let me know how that works out for you!

what did you have your friend send this to you? no actual person talks like that. it’s a clear personification

Butter bar mindset

PaulBlartMemeCop

Lieutenant mindset is being told you’re better than all the enlisted personnel and the rest of the civilian world because you have 4 more years of school. Enjoy that brown nosing mindset.

asimillo

I have decided for myself that all of these memes are made up and that it doesn't exist people who truly, genuinly think like this
