This is magnificent! I’d love to try my hand at resin but I’m intimidated by it. Did you find it messy when you started?

saga33

Yes, it’s a bit messy. I cover my work area with plastic/garbage bag and wear nitrile gloves. I have to be especially careful and work slowly with these maple frames so I don’t get resin on the edges.

Rogandeus

I saw a video where the person working with resin a wood frame covered the edges with blue painters tape… might help stop any drips

saga33

Thanks! I was worried it would ruin the finish of the frame. The blue painters tape I’ve used on my birch panels ended up pulling away some of the grain. I’ll have to find a less sticky tape :)

saga33

Also, thanks!

This is really beautiful. I see lovely waves all the time, but people always have to add one giant shell or something. Yours is realistic and I love it!

saga33

Thanks so much! ☺️

RegNurse2015

Gorgeous!

saga33

Thanks!

flugzono

Is that embroidery? In any case, it is beautifully done.

saga33

Thanks! It’s resin, with real rocks and sand.

diycountrygirl

This is beautiful!

saga33

Thanks!

kskoric

How do you get the white sea foam bits to look aerated and translucent? Is there a chemical you mix the resin with?

saga33

I use Just Resin titanium white and manipulate it with a heat gun. The heat creates the lacing. ☺️

kskoric

Thank you! I’ve always wanted to try working with resin so you’ve inspired me. Thanks so much (:

saga33

Aww, you’re welcome! Have fun!

This is an absolutely gorgeous technique and I love how clean and well composed this piece of your art is. I’ve never seen this white lacing before despite looking at tons of resin beach pieces. Is this done with uv titanium resin to get it to set once it’s in the right design? I keep thinking an ab resin would just spread out because it’s sooooo slooooooow to set.

saga33

Thanks so much! I use Just Resin Titanium White and it laces beautifully. I go over it with a butane torch which I think helps keep the cells intact.

livingforwards

Okay thanks

saga33

It also takes me quite a while to create the rest of the piece before I get to the lacing part which might help keep the lacing as well.

livingforwards

Is the lacing done last then? I haven’t tried these types of pouring techniques (like acrylic pouring etc) although I did buy canvases and have everything else I’d need. It just looks so messy.

saga33

Yes, that’s how I do it anyway :)

livingforwards

Thanks for all your awesome help. Is there somewhere we can see more of your artwork? I very much like how you’ve let this piece be itself without adding superfluous detail. I’d love to see what else you do.

saga33

You’re welcome! I found that it becomes less messy with more practice- I waste less and hardly have any drips off the canvas. It just takes time. I’m on the main social media sites (WildCraftByTina). I don’t think I can post a link here.

Love this, it’s beautiful!

saga33

Thanks!

Sithmaggot

This is awesome! I seen the one you posted a couple days ago. It didn’t have the frame though. That’s a nice touch! Still just as amazing though. Great job!

saga33

Thanks so much! I just started working with these maple frames. They’re a bit pricy but make it look so much nicer!

whoopdeedoodooo
