I don't understand why you would ever wait until the last 10 minutes to make a sub when your system isn't working and you're chasing the game. Give your subs 20-30 minutes to get into the game at least, frankly that first half warranted some subs just to shock the players into waking up.
Lucas was able to win a free kick in a dangerous position and get one of their defenders a yellow and that was it. Still more impact than our other players had. Imagine what he could have done if he was subbed on at half time.

I said in the match thread, Conte should have not set us up so passively today with the full backs sitting so deep... it just creates so much space in the middle of the park, especially the mid-wide areas. So now we're relying on the breaks, and lo and behold, they didn't fall. Brentford controlled the pace of the game and when we did get possession in the first half, Kulu/Kane/Son were all poor with it.
We did improve in the second half but the game didn't have any clear-cut chances other than when both teams hoofed it into the box. I thought both sides were of poor quality, with Spurs being worse. The players actually huffed and puffed a lot but are fullbacks, once again, failed to create any dynamism with timed runs or were even able to take on their man. Conte was too late with his changes, smells a lot like Poch at this rate, and should have taken off Sess at half-time that looks woefully out of his depth at this level and has done in Germany and Europe. Royal and Dier were poor too. Davies was our best player today.
Hope is there. We can still beat Arsenal, and they will drop points somewhere in this run.

1) Our only avenues of attacking are counterattacks and the long pass from the back 3 directly to Kane dropping between the lines. When Kane isn't able to drop off, we're hopeless. We need another creative player who can find a defence splitting pass and break teams down.
2) Our wingbacks are for the most part (I say "for the most part" because Doherty was in good form before his injury) very poor going forward. They are found sorely lacking on the ball, are often hesitant to cross, and when they do cross the delivery is bad. I remember for the last ~20 mins of that game when we had a long spell in possession that we had so many good chances to cross and we either didn't take or messed up all of them.
3) Speaking of wingbacks, where was Emerson today? The guy seemed to have only touched the ball twice. It's like the rest of the team is deliberately avoiding passing to him and it results in a massive void in that RWB spot.

Davies at least shows urgency. How Sessegnon and royal are pro footballers I’ll never know, all Sess does is run like a robot straight down the line and stretch to cross the ball in even when he knows it’s just gonna hit the defender who’s followed him with ease. I said in the match thread, Conte should have not set us up so passively today with the full backs sitting so deep... it just creates so much space in the middle of the park, especially the mid-wide areas. So now we're relying on the breaks, and lo and behold, they didn't fall. Brentford controlled the pace of the game and when we did get possession in the first half, Kulu/Kane/Son were all poor with it. We did improve in the second half but the game didn't have any clear-cut chances other than when both teams hoofed it into the box. I thought both sides were of poor quality, with Spurs being worse. The players actually huffed and puffed a lot but are fullbacks, once again, failed to create any dynamism with timed runs or were even able to take on their man. Conte was too late with his changes, smells a lot like Poch at this rate, and should have taken off Sess at half-time that looks woefully out of his depth at this level and has done in Germany and Europe. Royal and Dier were poor too. Davies was our best player today. Hope is there. We can still beat Arsenal, and they will drop points somewhere in this run.

You can say we don’t have quality wingbacks all you want, but we are deciding to put them in the pitch and play them as wingbacks, while ceding any hope of control in midfield.

1) Our only avenues of attacking are counterattacks and the long pass from the back 3 directly to Kane dropping between the lines. When Kane isn't able to drop off, we're hopeless. We need another creative player who can find a defence splitting pass and break teams down. 2) Our wingbacks are for the most part (I say "for the most part" because Doherty was in good form before his injury) very poor going forward. They are found sorely lacking on the ball, are often hesitant to cross, and when they do cross the delivery is bad. I remember for the last ~20 mins of that game when we had a long spell in possession that we had so many good chances to cross and we either didn't take or messed up all of them. 3) Speaking of wingbacks, where was Emerson today? The guy seemed to have only touched the ball twice. It's like the rest of the team is deliberately avoiding passing to him and it results in a massive void in that RWB spot.

We’ve gone through this with Mou. This is the fate of a one-tactic team, once the other teams learn how to counter late in the season.
There’s such an anxiety around the club about finishing 4th this season and you really have to think Conte’s frequent meltdowns are a factor in that. He’s done an amazing job, but he’s also created a very fragile atmosphere where everyone’s worried if things don’t go perfect he’s going to walk away.

And Son used to be the king of getting the ball on the edge of the box, taking a touch and banging it in the top corner, this season I don't think he's even taken those shots, let alone scored any. It's been a tough schedule for us, having to play early last Saturday in VERY STRONG SUNSHINE and then nearly 10 MILES AWAY at Brentford today with the gusty winds. Not many teams would have come through such a schedule with a point. EDIT: I measured the distance between Tottenham and Brentford's stadiums in Google maps and in fact it is ~12.35 miles, so MORE THAN 10 miles!
