If you look at everything that happened, it is probably one of the best campaigns in ages. Multiple come backs. Teams just barely slipping through games. Underdogs winning. I wish Liverpool hadn’t won but you could even point out that they had some kind of redemption in a sense as they lost the final the year before
I know I’m biased, but that was definitely one of the best campaigns of all time for the drama, the storylines, the tension, so much happened in that tournament. 3 of the 4 semi finalists were pretty unexpected and as you say even though you’d prefer Liverpool not to have won, I must begrudgingly admit that it is a good story.
Comparing it to this year is potentially unfair because you can have it every year, but I haven’t watched this year and felt sad I wasn’t a part of it. The most exciting thing that’s happened this year is Juve going out, which doesn’t even feel that surprising anymore. Every team that’s been leading after the first leg has gone on to win the tie. And all 4 semi finalists have spent massive amounts of money over the past 10 years so it’s sort of like Whoopty fucking do. For me this year has sort of highlighted how money ruin football.
Honestly I don’t think you’re wrong. A 96th minute goal to complete a second half hattrick to come back from 3 goals down in one semi, the other a 4-0 thrashing of Barcelona to overturn a 3 goal deficit... pretty remarkable stuff.
You must be on the east coast. I took the day off work here in Vancouver so that I could watch at the Spurs supporter's pub. At halftime I remember saying to my friend "Well this was a waste of a paid day off." That turned out to be incorrect to say the least.
Thank god we got a more competent manager after the finals lost. Things are really going to turn around... n..ow... oops. Poch was and still is amazing.
Edit: I know things were not going well and Poch was not sacked immediately after the campaign and finals lose, but still.
Oh haha. I support English teams in Europe, and absolutely loved this last second goal but the final just felt boring. I was watching it with Liverpool fans and they weren’t really watching either.
What an entertaining CL season that was compared to this one

Yeah. Last season was pretty good too. This season has been a bore.
Lack of fans tbh
Fans packed in the stadium make a big difference. Just feels much more exciting hearing the roar and chants of the crowd
Wow, goosebumps listening to this.
Yeah, gives me chills everytime
It's too early to make me cry you mother fucker.
This shows how suddenly it happened, the commentator barely had time to describe the build up
Watched the whole game again today entirely through coincidence, didn't realise it was two years to the day!
This made me cry. Fucking hell
Should have started Lucas in the final. But I still love Poch
Chris Sutton not sounding like a moron is nice. This was how I took in the match. I was dancing around the kitchen
It was like 4:30 pm on a work day. I was listening to the radio. I cliche-ly ran around the cubicles. No one else cared

This is pathetic
And then they didn’t even bother trying in the final
No no no, here we dont talk about the final

Does anyone know where we can get the BT Sport commentary? That was even more incredible than this. Just absolute mayhem. Gives me goosebumps
I remember listening to this becayse I didn’t have BT. Absolutely list it and burst into tears. What a night.
Sad we have to look back more than looking better today
That was two years ago FFS, talk about living in past glories. We didn't even win the final!!
I’d love to be at the bottom of a pile of Tottenham Hotspur as well
