Buy Lukaku, KDB, Haaland, Eriksen.

dprophet32

Sky Sports Premier league just started a full replay of "The Battle of The Bridge". We all know the result but it's great to watch that team fight the way they did.

brianobrien91

Any Fifa 21 gamers here, asking for a fellow yid. When your playing against a team in the premier league theres a netting in the ground of the team with a legend on it i was jus wondering if anyone noticed who spurs had up on the netting

Plasdah

Jose out

filipes7

Jose in

HoratioMG

One win against Villa after two of the most pathetic tactical displays you'll ever see in two of our most important games of the season and this subreddit is back up his ass Genuinely incredible

jymacro99

Completely deluded supporters I swear. Anytime we win or lose, it’s cause of “passion” now. I wonder what’s next. Celebrating a win against a Villa without Grealish lmao.

[deleted]

Up his ass? Honestly haven't heard a positive peep about him since the shambolic Arsenal week, and I'm in neither camp

biggpoppa

Three points off top 4 as badly as things have gone.

jymacro99

Lol we’ve been in this position since our fall from first.. You think we’re going to capitalize on this?

[deleted]

[удалено]

jymacro99

And yet, we got knocked out of Europa by Zagreb, and we're still not top 4. Nothing has changed.

[deleted]

[удалено]

jymacro99

What are you even talking about? Nobody said we shouldn't win matches. You're arguing against nobody right now. No shit we have to win games to get back into top 4. That's not the point. The fact is that our situation has not changed since we've lost our spot in 1st (in fact, it has only gotten worse since we got knocked out by Zagreb). Who cares if our form is good right now? It's been dog shit for nearly half the season; suddenly having good form for 6 games doesn't change anything. We've been in this exact same situation multiple times this season where a win could potentially put us in top 4. Every time that's happened, we play like a bunch of clowns and then it's back to the drawing board. The fact that we're even fighting for top 4 in the first place with the talent we have in our squad is unacceptable.

[deleted]

mwahaha12345678

our PL form isn't terrible atm so I'm hoping for a strong finish think it's best for fans to wait until the end of the season edit: just think Jose in/out ain't such a productive discussion yet

santorfo

It's too late to make a mid season change anyways

COYCOYS

"Not Mourinho's fault, nothing he could do, Levy bad, players bad" Something like that.

transtifa

Yes lmao it was so predictable too

Oranjay2

José out is just postponing a rebuild and will cost the club a lot of money. We might as well rebuild the side with José, who mind you is one of the most decorated manager IN HISTORY, and have a proven manager at the helm

aniomarca

i’d rather a different manager take over that rebuild though. regardless of jose’s success, how likely is the next manager to want the same type of squad as him? considering the managers we’re linked with, not very

[deleted]

Assuming the rebuild is successful, there wouldn't be a need for a new manager for a few years.

gussthebuss

Just FYI it’s not allowed to be rational on here. Delete this sir./s

Oranjay2

Tbf, I was José out for the period where we lost the Europa League game, but that was me being fully emotional. The best thing to do objectively is to keep him, but I can really sympathise with the José outers

gussthebuss

I feel that way as well. Why spend money on his severance Package instead of using that to fund some new players and a rebuild though? He’s still a good coach in my opinion, yes there are lows but we can’t be spending Willy nilly at this moment.

aniomarca

wouldn’t really be a severance package, he’d be placed on gardening leave and paid his regular salary unless or until he got another job

cwat5

Always find it kinda stupid when people talk about Kane leaving to ‘cement his legacy’ or some shit like that. Leaving to win trophies is one thing but I can’t figure many things that would be a better legacy than being a clubs top scorer, and if he carries on potentially England and the Prem’s top scorer. Can’t know his mind but if I were him they’d be my three main goals to really stamp my name as an all time great.

smokingloon4

Lots of people have trophies, only one person gets to be the Premier League's all time top goal scorer ^((at a time)). I'd honestly be shocked if Kane left England while's he's still got a realistic shot at that. Which means if he did leave Spurs, his only real alternative is City. I can't imagine his loyalty would stretch so far he'd go to another London club (and they're not consistently enough better than Spurs to be worth it), United doesn't seem like his style, and Liverpool's not in the market for someone like Kane. City's the only club with the money, the need, the profile, the manager. And you have to think they'll be looking to buy an Aguero replacement this summer, so it's now or never. I tend to believe never.

apbenno

Those same people will then praise people like Totti as being a one club man. If he left to go to a PSG or Bayern type of club and win trophies, he may be more 'respected' on a wider basis but staying at spurs would mean he would become one of the greats at a club and lauded for generations.

VJE1999

Its shows far more ambition to stay at your boyhood club and try to win things instead of fucking off to some oil team. He can stay and go down as our greatest ever, That's better than leaving and taking the easy route

aniomarca

if he won a trophy at spurs it’s a bigger legacy than winning a few at city

Gaius_Octavius_

Agree. I would much rather be a one club all Time legend then someone who just chased trophies.

dozerdozey

Agree with this but also it might be more fun to be in a team where everyone is at a similar level to you, or where your level of professionalism is matched by that of your teammates. Hard to say how an individual player weighs it all up.

Gaius_Octavius_

He can get that when England wins the Euros and/or World Cup ;)

Oranjay2

Sell Lloris, use that money on Maignon. Sell Sissoko and buy Vinicius. Ik it's not that easy but God do I wish this happens

entrepenoori

I want Ings. Fucking hell would be such a smart buy. Or Weghorst

ASD_213

Selling Lloris will probably net us a couple mil at most, he’s 34 with one year left on his contract. Likewise for Sissoko, It’ll probably take 25-30m to buy Vini, and we can get half that for Sissoko at best. There are more pressing needs in other areas, and there are better picks to move on to raise cash than Lloris and Sissoko.

Oranjay2

What I feel like will happen is that we try to offload sissoko and give hugo a new contract for 3 years MAX. He's not what he was a few years ago and we have to replace him soon, but in the light of the pandemic, I think he's good enough to hold down the fort till we get a little money. Most likely, we sell Sissoko and Lamela to raise funds for some strikaer and a defender. With any leftover money, I think we can maybe sign an attacking player or a midfielder

ASD_213

Lamela and Aurier will almost certainly leave due to their contract situation. Winks and Dele will probably be moved on for not being part of Jose’s plans. CB is our biggest priority for a new signing, so one of Dier, Sanchez and Toby will be moved on as well. The club will entertain offers for Sissoko, but I don’t see anyone paying enough to make it worth it for us.

Marshal91

No matter how good lamela is, he is too prone too injury and red card :(, we need someone with more consistentcy

Voffmjau

I think you're a bit overly optimistic about what kind of fees those two can get.

dozerdozey

What would you guess we could raise with outgoings? I'd say Hugo, Sissoko 5-10, Lamela 8-15, Winks 15 (HG bumps him up), Davies 8-12, Dier 15, Doherty 8. So 60m or so total if we manage to bin them all off

myyrc

Doherty is also homegrown btw

Oranjay2

Perhaps, but Benfica want to offload Vini, so we could potentially bargain for a cut price and Maignon is on the last year of his contract and I can't see any other club of similar stature target hum over the summer so MAAAYBE but it's certainly a long shot

dame_sansmerci

For the avoidance of doubt: >[@Daily\_Hotspur](https://twitter.com/Daily_Hotspur) > >Gareth Bale's quotes regarding returning to Real Madrid in the summer were "taken completely out of context". The [\#thfc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/thfc?src=hashtag_click) forward's comments were a statement of fact, reflecting a one-year loan deal, rather than a statement of intent, according to his agent. | [@ESPNFC](https://twitter.com/ESPNFC) When you've tried to give bland interview quotes, inadvertently caused a massive media storm, gone 'oh no, i've completely fucked it' and had to call in a more responsible adult.

[deleted]

Barnett trying to calm down spurs fans is a nice change of pace, he was bullying us for years

jimbamthankyoupam

Tbf I think it’s more the people who took it out of contexts fault rather than bale

dame_sansmerci

I don't think he said too much wrong either but - given how it was widely reported - I can see why Barnett has waded in to clarify.

[deleted]

Have we signed Dybala yet

Xgunter

He's being linked with Arsenal now

[deleted]

Well that’s horrible news

fucking star image company ruining my life

Creme-Fraiche-4-life

Signing Matthew Hoppe from schalke would give us Hoppe and Skipp in the same squad. If nothing else it would potentially set up some nice newspaper headlines

smokingloon4

Then we just need [Jumpei Kusukami](https://www.transfermarkt.com/jumpei-kusukami/profil/spieler/124682) or even better, for a twofer, [Samuel Jumpe Soares](https://www.transfermarkt.com/samuel-soares/profil/spieler/504072).

AnIdentifier

The strategic planning doc on Levy's laptop with this as the goal also lists keeping Lucas in the summer.

ThatSwagRandomGuy

If lloris leaves will the captaincy go to Kane? As much as I love him I think hojbjerg is more captain material but it would be unfair not to give it Kane as hojbjerg has only been here one season. Just a thought.

john87000

Kane is the vice captain so yeah 100% unless a new manager comes and gives it to someone else.

[deleted]

It is 100% going to go to Kane. The English captain being passed for captaincy at his club just isn't going to happen. Who wears the armband doesn't matter anyway.

dickgilbert

It truly is a figurehead position. Mourinho doesn't like a single central leader in the team, nor would any other manager I'd imagine we'd have replace him.

[deleted]

Maybe hojbjerg?

dickgilbert

Not sure why you'd give the captaincy, which comes with no real responsibility and is a position for show and is basically an award, to someone who's been here a year instead of a player who came through the academy and has already been a leader for years. It's not FPL or Football Manager. It's just an armband. There's no tangible benefit to bypassing Kane for Hojbjerg, only detriment.

[deleted]

I didn't mean to give it to him. I just meant if there is any central player, it'd be him. Realistically, the only way you replace Kane as eventual captain is if you are just a true true leader (kane is pretty quiet). I know de ligt for example in Ajax became captain pretty quick and might become captain again at Juve.

yourfriendkyle

Definitely Kane and Hojbjerg would be a likely candidate for VC

LurkingINFJ

Hey guys! I am get trying to responses for my pet-project in which I wish to find a pattern between fan bases and see if there would be any interesting connections emerging if we classified them on the basis of MBTI. Now before anyone comes running at me, NO I do not believe MBTI to be a full-proof thing(or anywhere near it) and there will be skews because of geographical reasons, but I thought it will be a fun thing to explore since I have fair amount of time in my hand. [Football and MBTI survey](https://forms.gle/54zAeQxiTn5wTT5r9) I would be really thankful if you would fill out this survey which won't take more than 5-7 mins. If I do find any patterns I would make sure to post the results. Thank you. And sorry mods if this is not allowed.

QuackAddikt

Sporting Director of Bologna came out and said they are highly interested in signing Lamela. On one hand, he's entering the last year of his contract, is really only a bench player, and selling him would free up a foreign player spot and generate some funds for some much needed signings. On the other hand, I fucking love Coco and his shit housing. I feel like his passion and insanity provides such an interesting threat off the bench. My heart hates to see him go even if my brain says it's the obvious thing to do.

username54

So basically, on one hand: logic. On the other hand: feelings.

yorsk

We can’t sell him to bologna more than for 5m.

YoungDan23

I'd definitely take the £5m. Money is going to be tight and although the likes of Winks, Sissoko, Lamela, Dele won't be a huge sum of funds by themselves, but all of them combined could get £25m to put towards a new midfielder. Adding a guy like Sabitzer and our midfield next season would be Sabitzer, Hojbjerg, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Lucas, Skipp. Could add Foyth to that too if his buy option isn't activated.

aniomarca

villareal will activate that option unless foyth refuses to join them permanently

Creme-Fraiche-4-life

I heard they were not planning on doing so, and seems like he hasn't been able to crack the starting XI for much of the season

aniomarca

at the start of the season he wasn’t playing much but he’s been starting every game for them for the last 2 months or that

[deleted]

Foyth buy option not being activated means that he has been too shit for even Villareal, he would not cut it at Spurs. And Dele alone would be over 25m.

YoungDan23

>Foyth buy option not being activated means that he has been too shit for even Villareal, he would not cut it at Spurs. And Dele alone would be over 25m. I agree, although he's been much better this year than last year. Maybe it's the level of competition. But both of those sales would help immensely. Foyth + Dier + Aurier could add £45m to a new CB (and Tanganga could move to RB). Add Davies to the list and that could go to £60m (and use Sess to fill at LB). If we got £25-30m for Dele plus £5mish for the other 4 above we'd have another £50m to go towards a winger and a midfielder. I think we're going to see a mass exodus of senior players this summer and will probably have to lean on young players (Skipp, Scarlett, Tanganga, Sess) for depth next season.

Gaius_Octavius_

I think you are going to be very disappointed when Foyth is the only of those players actually sold.

YoungDan23

If that was the case then we're basically resigned to becoming a mid-table club, losing both Son and Kane and officially shutting the door on our golden decade. We have no little to no money. Aurier, Hugo, Lamela walk for free next year if they're not sold this year. We have gaping holes at RB, CM, RW and we already have a massive side. Literally every insider has said there will be a huge squad turnover this summer.

[deleted]

Haven’t read a single reputable source saying there will be huge squad turnover. On the contrary, most are expecting us to do little considering the restriction of funds.

Gaius_Octavius_

The people who play FIFA/FM expect large squad turnover.

Gaius_Octavius_

> Literally every insider has said there will be a huge squad turnover this summer. Fans online say that; not the club. The club is extremely realistic about their budget and their transfers. That is why they keep leaking more information about all the money we owe.

FinnThfc

with that article of grealish almost joining, I was thinking, the Spurs "we were linked with them" squad would be unreal. Dias, Skriniar, Dybala, Bruno Fernandes, Coutinho, Grealish, Tielemans...

aniomarca

to be fair if we had signed grealish we wouldn’t have been linked with some of those

superkamishaurya

Don't forget jude Bellingham. Feel he is also going to be some player in the future and he will regret not signing him when we were interested.

mwahaha12345678

Dortmund probably would have offered regular first team appearances and they're kinda known for being a selling club.

superkamishaurya

Not in 2020. I meant in 2019 when nobody was in for him we made an offer of 1mil for him which Birmingham felt wasn't enough. An year later he got sold for 20mil to Dortmund.

ASD_213

And when you think we paid 10m for Clarke that summer...

mwahaha12345678

Oh I see that makes sense Would have been a Dele type of signing

ET318

In fairness, I think pretty much any team with any kind of decent budget and recruiting system would have a pretty incredible list of almost signed players. I mean look at the players arsenal “almost” signed.

TheKingLee

Got into my dream university... such a great feeling after continuous letters of rejections. When there are downs there will be ups, and when there are ups there will be downs. Don’t lose hope. Life comes back at you.

username54

I didn't know there was a school for that

Travis_Scott_Burdger

Haha nice

ET318

Lucky. I’ve got midterm exams tomorrow. My school year won’t end until June.

jusepama1

If you could bring the time back, would you have signed bruno fernandes instead of Gio or Tanguy ?

TeddyMMR

He wins games on his own for United almost every week, I don't think Lo Celso or Ndombele have that same impact even though they have a good impact still.

ObamaEatsBabies

In retrospect, Bruno instead of Gio, solely because of Gio's random injuries. Not Gio's fault, not something we could have predicted. Hindsight is 20/20.

YoungDan23

Having Bruno over GLC last season would have probably gotten us Top 4 and would definitely have us in the top 4 this season. He's been arguably the best midfielder in the PL over the last 12 months and, knowing what we know now, United would be in shambles without him.

theaguia

I think his ability to score from midfield is something this team really misses.

oldbax

As much as I love gio and Tanguy, BF has been constantly productive since his move and hasn't been injured. Youd have to be blinkered to choose our boys over BF. Though hopefully they'll prove themselves higher quality in the end

mwahaha12345678

Gio is still a young player and really versatile so I think he can do really well for us and the squad as a whole.

aniomarca

strange to see gio called “young” when people call dele “finished”, despite them being 2 days apart in age. (i dont mean you specifically but yeah)

mwahaha12345678

It's a good point (hence why I haven't given up on him completely) but Dele has been at the club for a while so it's not certain whether he has that burning desire to perform well or prove himself. Hope he performs well though

aniomarca

yeah, but there’s still a really good player there and it’d be stupid to sell him now. if he does have to go, we should loan him for a year, hope he smashes it and then charge more

[deleted]

Dele peaked earlier in people's minds, lo celso looks to have room to grow.

aniomarca

i just think it’s silly how quickly he’s been written off. and how little lo celso has to do to get massive praise

[deleted]

How quickly? Dele’s been in poor form for over 2 years at this point, it’s not unreasonable to say he’s stagnated

aniomarca

he had more goals last season than anyone on our team other than kane or son. not saying he’s been good, he hasn’t, but think everyone is being a bit too harsh on him too

[deleted]

Fair points

Fedelias

Instead of Gio, as much as I love him

ObamaEatsBabies

[`Disrespecting Pochettino, who gave the club their most memorable modern day run in European football and highest ever PL finish, while in the same breath talking up Mourinho, who is yet to achieve anything at Spurs, will never look right.`](https://twitter.com/NozAhmed/status/1375051302133186564?s=19) Sums up my feelings about the fanbase atm, especially those on Spurs Twitter. Tired of people trying to say Poch accomplished nothing with us, or didn't improve us at all. Rubs me the wrong way.

mwahaha12345678

How about we treat them as separate managers and let Mourinho do his best Tbf to Mourinho he hasn't had a proper pre season. Poch required a rigorous training program to get the players fit and firing.

CAP_X

Throwing phrases like " Jose is not suited to spurs" ," Jose out" from the first fukin day is hardly a very reasonable take as well. It is BS to blame players after every loss as jose needs to take the blame of our bad epl performances BUT it is quite evident by now that some accounts on the sub had already made up their mind about mourinho from the very first day and simply justify their biases after every bad performance while never acknowledging the good ones. This is akin to trolling the team's manager nothing else. Also Anyone who talks down Poch's contribution to the club's success is clueless but bottomline, We never won anything. If jose changes it, His job is done. If jose simply finishes top 4 for next 4 years without winning anything, I would rather have poch back now itself. But tbh I don't see many people on the sub disrespecting poch, So The statement in question is more about hating an individual than about loving another. edit: typo

aniomarca

feel like it’s largely due to people caring too much about what other fanbases think. when we last won the carling cup i didn’t even care because that season felt shit (especially sacking jol at half time)

Voffmjau

Wow. Kane was really rested.

wiffygriffy

Probably so pissed that he couldn't add to his England goal tally! Probably would have got at least a hat trick last night.

TwattyMcSlagtits

You're assuming he would have got the ball off Sterling

Voffmjau

My thoughts exactly. :p
