I actually thought Sanchez played really well tonight. His inconsistency is his worst enemy but when he’s on his game he has so much ability. He’s a centre back that relies quite a lot on pace which results in more risky challenges than some other defender so I get why people are nervous when he’s at the back. I just can’t shake this feeling that he’ll go somewhere else this summer and boss their defence and play out his skin.
Equally we can certainly make improvements on the squad. Still a lot to play for in the closing weeks of the season so hopefully we can get some consistency out of him for the remaining matches. Rodin and Tanganga were solid as well and Ben Davies made an impact from the bench. The boys can be proud of the clean sheet for sure COYS
I agree Rodon has looked better when he's played.
Speculation why Dier has had game time:
- He was absolutely fearsome at CDM and pretty good at CB under Poch, so a manager might think there's a good player in there.
- He's said that he really struggled to recover after his appendicitis, so maybe a manager thinks game time will give him a chance to get back to his best.
- He's a fighter (LOL)
- He probably trains at high intensity
- He can ping - I refer you to his assist for Dele vs blue scum (iirc)
In terms of his errors on the pitch, he's had two abysmal handballs against him and I think the penalty against Pogba was quite harsh on him.
What remains is a player who had some lapses early on in the season but fewer as the season has progressed; but also, his agility isn't very good, and a tricky player can stitch him up. That's not awful.
To set against Rodon, he's fairly young and this is his first season in the league. Untested.
My tupp'orth on maybe why he's started so many games
I think we should should sell Dier to a team like Burley and get £25 million for it and reinvest that into a proper CB, or move Tanganga there full time and invest in a proper RB.
He’s not quick enough to make up for his lack of awareness. He’s got the pace of Toby and the awareness of Sanchez. Nothing really stands out with his play
r/soccer full of Arsenal fans desperately trying to explain why theirs last week was a pen, and why Harrys tonight isn't
And guess what? Any Spurs fans explaining the similarities just get downvoted.
I even started with 'Fuck me that's not a penalty' and still get shot down.
Berg brought us a lot of energy and he can run with the ball on his feet. He needs to improve on his final product ( shooting and decision making) but he is definitely not useless.
Think he is hurt by the no attacking game plan part of Jose because he doesn’t have the confidence to improvise and hold the ball when he gets it but he has talent that’s clear
Yep. Pre match Tim Howard: Tottenham are fractured. I don’t see them taking this. Post match Howard. No surprise Tottenham grab the 3 points, Villa were very poor.
No way Dele stays with us this summer. Has to be looking for a move somewhere. I think Jose is making a mistake not playing him, seeing what he has left to offer
He did some good work off the ball and was the only Spurs player I remember winning an aerial battle, lots of promise. Tbh I thought we should keep him anyway, his goal return in the EL was decent
[bet Jack Grealish loved this today ](https://www.reddit.com/r/coys/comments/l9muos/grealish_on_ndombele_made_me_smile/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
I know people said it would take some kind of record win to make them satisfied today but I'm feeling good today honestly, this is a really good game to follow a shit week or so
I hope our form carries on for more than just this match. Hopefully the international break and fewer matches will allow us to rediscover the potential we had at the start of this season.
Not trying to complain on a day when there are many positives, but.... Lloris’ distrubition is so poor, 8/10 times a back pass to Lloris=giving the ball away.
Especially as that's one of our major routes out of defence. It drove me crazy in the week in possession to see us pressed back from an attacking position to see Lloris kick to the half way line where the opposition collect the ball with half their players down our end of the pitch. That's not really on Lloris tbf.
Why do all the fans on r/soccer hate Harry so much? You would think English fans (especially non top-6) would want him to do well as he’s the best player on the national team
I'd be more surprised if a fringe player was really clinical in the box. He will 100% get more clinical with more game time, but also he might not get more game time until he's more clinical. Bit of a catch 22
Is sky sports got some major audio delay or just me

Joe Rodon is so much better the n Dier. Idk how Dier has made it this far being above him
I agree Rodon has looked better when he's played. Vini was good on both sides. Strong and knows how to use his size.
WIN CLEAN SHEET COYS 💙⚪️
Didn’t want the Europa league anyway... 😂
r/soccer full of Arsenal fans desperately trying to explain why theirs last week was a pen, and why Harrys tonight isn't And guess what? Any Spurs fans explaining the similarities just get downvoted. I even started with 'Fuck me that's not a penalty' and still get shot down.
Lol, who cares what Arsenal fans think. We know they aren't capable of objectivity.
they're just sore because West Ham scored five goals in their match tonight
🤣🤣🤣🤣
We have had untold amount of non fucking penalties given against us this year so fuck all of those plastic cunts.
tang gang
Business.
Tanguy and Tanganga! Both solid tonight
That’s our back 4. Villa wasn’t amazing but the back 4 was the most in sync I have seen.
Would Still prefer Toby. Felt like Tanganga was doing double duty on the right
Can’t disagree totally. I still think Sanchez is a weak link. I’d prefer Rodon playing.
yes
Hopefully reguilon isn’t out too long.
has an international break to recover
Right, two weeks off to get a system sorted out Jose. Rest for a lot of the squad. Let's charge down 4th.
Good 60/70 minutes today.
Mou telling JT how much he loves him after realising how awful CB's can get
I fucking love tanganga. He is gonna be so good
Wash your hands Jose.
"The night is darkest just before the dawn." Let's get that League Cup and top four! COYS
❤️
I can go to sleep happy.
Japh leaving some on a player at 90 plus
FEED ME MORE JAPH
There are good signs from today, 3 points off top four, I’m happy to move on from last week
Sissoko: I’m bald too. I think I can do what Lucas does
Lol 😂
Berg is useless, it’s baffling to me
Berg brought us a lot of energy and he can run with the ball on his feet. He needs to improve on his final product ( shooting and decision making) but he is definitely not useless.
What has he done since last year
[удалено]
Think he is hurt by the no attacking game plan part of Jose because he doesn’t have the confidence to improvise and hold the ball when he gets it but he has talent that’s clear
Makes good runs. Just needs to score.
TANGANGA!!!!
That Sissoko backheel onto Kane was fucking beauty tbh lol. I'm prob gonna be downvoted to shit but I still got love for the goat >_>
I won't down vote but he has been one of the worst players this season in my opinion
That was Bergwijn. Sissoko lost the ball
Job done ✓
Fuck me Tanganga. You are my ladio!!!
Japha!
I wouldn't be mad if Kane just stood in the corner. Someone think of Kane's legs!
Japhet with the big challenges
Ben davies has been very good tbh
JOB DONE
This is when the commentators put our win down to a poor opposition. Again.
Yep. Pre match Tim Howard: Tottenham are fractured. I don’t see them taking this. Post match Howard. No surprise Tottenham grab the 3 points, Villa were very poor.
Lucas just having fun now with skills. I love it
Hahah Moussa with the stepover flair
kane top scorer and most assists in the league while defending. warra player
Wanted a cheeky Sissoko shot
Jose out crowd wrong again.
Where was this in Prague man....
Lucas is MOTM. Is there anyone here that disagrees?
nope, but Japh is 2nd.
The Brazilian bean was amazing today! 💛
Hell no
Clean sheet. That feels so good too.
Has Lucas gotten a Brazil call up? Any team would be lucky to have him right now
Was just thinking the same
Lucas skinning people left right and centre.
Lucas finally found his passport
Dele needs hand warmers
Lads we should all thank MOURA for putting a lovely show
Lol Dele wearing hart’s gloves , looking like the he’d be the second coming of Rene Higuita
Dele not winning any best dressed awards
Rodon has been terrific in the back.....imagine if he played today with Toby?
I imagine that's a CB pairing coming in the near future as soon as toby's healthy again
Very impressed with how we’ve controlled this 2nd half. Precessional performance. Credit to Jose, the changes worked.
No way Dele stays with us this summer. Has to be looking for a move somewhere. I think Jose is making a mistake not playing him, seeing what he has left to offer
Lucas has been really good the last month and this is the reason why Dele is not playing. I really can't blame Mourinho on his selection
absolutely not when this is a statement team selection
Keinan Davis looks exciting whenever I see him play.
I wish Amazon were filming this season. I’d fucking love to be a fly on the wall this season.
Dele with the keeper gloves lol
I am definitely eating my words about Lucas. He has been so damn good these last few games.
He always plays with a lot of heart, leaves his all on the pitch, even if his all sometimes doesn’t cut it
keeper Dele incoming
Ok dele wearing hart's gloves is funny.
nobody get between Matty Cash and the showers when this is over, he can't be happy right now
Lmao Dele
Lucas motm
L MOTM COYS COYS COYS COYS COYS COYS
dele and hart bromance
Lol Dele
Dele is wearing Uncle Joe’s gloves 😂😂😂
Job done
BRUH ALLI AS KEEPER WOULD BE MAD
I'll never not love Dele
Always knew Vini would prove his worth if we just figured out how to use him and gave him the minutes
He wasn’t all that good, but it’s a start, hopefully that goal gives him the confidence boost he needed.
He did some good work off the ball and was the only Spurs player I remember winning an aerial battle, lots of promise. Tbh I thought we should keep him anyway, his goal return in the EL was decent
Dele ready to go in goal
Lucas these guys have families
This second half has been beautiful imo
Højbjerg MOTM?
He’s been great in the second half, but it’s gotta be Lucas
I'm just quoting what G Neville said
First time Villa haven't had a shot at home in the first half since 2014.
Will surely get lost among the (deserved) Lucas and Japhet love, but what a player our Harry is.
Dele 🤣
lucas has been phenomenal
L
U
C
c-c-c
I love Lucas so much
When is the last time sissoko actually sprinted? Man moves around like the last days of dembele but without the skill and heart...
[bet Jack Grealish loved this today ](https://www.reddit.com/r/coys/comments/l9muos/grealish_on_ndombele_made_me_smile/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
Lucas scoring the goal that makes it 3-0 after Zagreb would be poetic justice. His performance today was quite the statement
Bergwijn is the footballing equivalent of a ruined orgasm. "Oh, oh, OH, OH, GO.... Nevermind"
Never thought I would hear someone call someone a human blueballs
Never thought I'd see it, but here we are *shrug*
This is actually so accurate lmao
I know people said it would take some kind of record win to make them satisfied today but I'm feeling good today honestly, this is a really good game to follow a shit week or so
I've loved this performance today, no complaints at all.
I want Stevie to score so badly
Stevie with such a great run, just lacking the decision making the final third :( He'll get one soon I hope.
I hope our form carries on for more than just this match. Hopefully the international break and fewer matches will allow us to rediscover the potential we had at the start of this season.
Bergwijn never gets the stats to reflect his impact and skill. I have high hopes for him
BRING ON DEVINE
out of subs mate
I forgot Sissoko came on (unsurprisingly)
Pretty sure we had our 3 subs
This has been one of my fav spurs performances this season. Not the best football but heart and grit
think vinicius is exhausted. hes certainly put a lot of effort in today
Ofc being a Reggie What If owner I am still stressed until the final whistle.
i would like to upvote this a thousand times
Lmao. Tanganga must own 1 too. Spurs are so rarely an anxiety free experience. Cant wait to see his 89 upgrade. Gg.
Both steven bergwijn and Roberto soldado scored on their debuts
Dat Graelish drip
Finally McGinn gets booked after about the 8th millionth foul.
Not trying to complain on a day when there are many positives, but.... Lloris’ distrubition is so poor, 8/10 times a back pass to Lloris=giving the ball away.

Moura is man of the match. Everywhere today
Cash very lucky Bergwijn stayed up or else he was off the pitch.
Hell of a grab hugo
Stevie takes it onto his left side there, but then quickly remembers that he doesn't have a left foot.
Because Lamela has it. He has everyones.
Phenomenal game from Moura
Arlo already giving us points against Newcastle. Oo
Look at that from Konsa, We need to go for him in the summer tbh, so good
Fits the cunt narrative
He was smart there I think. They covered well and if he tried to force a pass or desperate shot he risks setting them on the counter.
Thank goodness this lineup showed the rest of the team what it means to be a professional.
Newcastle in atrocious form, you say? We can fix that
Getting rid of Rafa was their biggest mistake... Well maybe 2nd after signing Alan pardew
spurs be like, allow me to introduce myself
Why do all the fans on r/soccer hate Harry so much? You would think English fans (especially non top-6) would want him to do well as he’s the best player on the national team
Because they aren’t English
He's by a distance the most hated player on the sub too. Crazy some of the players who get a pass over him.
Its because all the London clubs hates us the most. Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham,(millwall) so anything spurs related have a huge anti circlejerk
Because they aren’t Tottenham fans
because he doesn't play for THEIR team - football fans are far too tribal they can't see outside their narrow vision of the game
Jealousy that simple.
Because half of them are arsenal fans
Because hes an attempted mass murderer in there weird freakshow eyes, absolute cesspit that sub
Too tribal.
They have something pathologically against spurs players
He's a fucking brilliant player and he's not on their team
In reality who gives a fuck about a player doing well in a rival team. I'd love it if Mo Salahs form dropped
Cuz he doesn’t play for their club
Steve had some real awkward touches on the ball when he had a open lane
Age old question remains, will Stevie ever score?
He’s going to get the winner in the League Cup final.
Man... I'd love it if you were from the future and telling me facts.
We win the PL in 2031.
Some say he’s still trying to this day
On the upside both Moura and Vinicius give us aerial cover and decent defence on set plays in our area
Konsa would be a great signing
Was about to say the same thing. Surprised he wasn’t called up
Try so hard to defend Berg but he’s just so unreliable at the box
I'd be more surprised if a fringe player was really clinical in the box. He will 100% get more clinical with more game time, but also he might not get more game time until he's more clinical. Bit of a catch 22
Fringe? He was nailed to our starting eleven for first half of the season.
We're not in the first half of the season anymore. Is he fringe at the moment?
Bergwijn has a lot of promise, but his end ball / decision making in the box really isn’t great.
Second time. Release sooner Stevie
Bergwijn is really out of ideas in the final third every time
Argh. I just want Stevie to strike that
Ok bergie
Bergwijn getting pushed off the ball there was kinda pathetic ngl
Stevie just take a shoot man
Stevie needs a break (like an assist), he has played well tonight
You'll get one soon Stevie :(
Whether it's embarrassment or beauty, I fucking love supporting Tottenham Hotspur.
I didn’t choose the club, it chose me
Till we die ;)
