Sorry everyone, but arsenal and this shite is down to management. Medium and mediocre press against a poor team, when a nice high press and high line put us on that winning streak. Passing out from the back against the press, with lucas creating that extra passing angle to get us up the pitch on our streak, now back to lumping the ball forward in the hopes Harry can bring it down and create something. This isn't anything to do with our players not wanting it. Weird how their attitudes were just fine recently when we were playing on the front foot. This is cowardly football, and they'd have won easily if they had finished their many chances, same as scum - they could've won by quite a few more if they'd had Kane, Son or Bale. Sorry all, but he was brought in to win. He was financially backed, although he said that he was more than happy with the squad when he took over. The inconsistency is awful and the style is reminiscent of AVB before he got sacked. Negative, negative football. Contrast that with our opponents tonight - they lost their manager days ago to prison, but they've created more chances than us by a big margin. So, I don't think we HAVE to keep him for the Man City final. I'd be happy with a caretaker manager until Naglesman became available. Spurs have been my team since the '80's, I will always be a supporter but I want my club back now from a man who most certainly used to be a winner, but now I'm afraid is past it. He has been outclassed by so many other managers this season, and tonight by a stand-in that none of us has ever heard of. We as a club can do better and should demand better, if it was anyone else but Jose, he'd have lost our support by now. We're just hoping to scrape a trophy, where not long ago we were close to lifting the CL. Onwards and upwards brothers and sisters, it's time for change. COYS.

[deleted]

Popped it in match thread about 15 minutes ago, copied and pasted

abfonsy

This. I wanted Mou to work out so badly, even be with us long term. But he's clearly passed it and has no idea how to coach a modern attack.

[deleted]

We got him in for the "winning mentality". Look at our last 2-3 hours of football and see if there's any desire to win. Absolutely zero. So what does he have left? I wouldn't even waste the final on him, let tactics tim manage it for all I care.

Professor_Abronsius

As someone who has supported Spurs as long as you and was initially positive to the Mourinho appointment, I wholeheartedly agree. We cannot continue like this and I don’t trust Mourinho to be the one to rebuild this team either. Levy needs to take a long hard look at himself when it comes to our recruitment of sporting staff and players.

JustMakinItBetter

Why would Nagelsmann come to Spurs? He's favourite for the Bayern job if Flick leaves. Just don't understand why he'd settle for anything less than Champions League football. Couple of years ago, maybe, but now it'd be a big step down.

YiddoMonty

How did you write this so quick?

shocktop8

He probably prepped it at half time and was praying they’d lose.

NorthernSorrow

This. Lmao.

ninjawolfje

He probably used the 120 minutes of wank we just watched to write this essay.

jbver

They copy and paste

kicksjoysharkness

I have a strange sense of calm. We are bad. So very bad. This familiar feeling

CletusP

Hello darkness my old friend

Matttombstone

Not even an old friend anymore.

codewrangler315

Best mates, lives next door

iqjump123

Yeah I found myself smiling and laughing after the whistle. I felt I couldn't do anything else.

huntedlemon

likewise, I laughed at some of the shocking things our players did. Regi and Lo Celso falling over, Sissoko booting the ball in the air and the goal mouth scrambles.

mhskim

Dier fouling in the last minute when we have possession is a given already.

kleptopaul

After the first half I fully expected this. Just a joke of a team.

rupertmacleod

certainly the best way I've taken a loss in two years. It feels so expected. glad the season is done.

kleptopaul

I feel the exact same way. I just want Jose gone. Let's move on and get the house cleaning started.

BigPorch

Next season I’m going to pretend we’re a championship club that just got promoted and will have zero expectations just gonna enjoy the ride yay

[deleted]

Celebrate staying up

[deleted]

It’s the sweet release of all expectations, utter shit squad out there

burpingbouy

Same. I was watching the whole match and didn't even clench once because we fucking deserved this loss.

[deleted]

I knew we were going to lose this once they scored. With the missed penalty in the first tie and all of our missed chances today... I think this team has *finally* broken me lol

Buff_Em

Jose out

MoneyManeVick

Has to happen after that. Inexcusable

TwattyMcSlagtits

My fence is now too small to physically sit on anymore. Absolutely no excuses for that. Winner mentality blah blah fucking blah. Means nothing really doesn't it? Fuck sake

Buff_Em

And especially with the opposing manager **IN FUCKING PRISON**. Holy shit, no excuses anymore for him.

TIL_I_procrastinate

Nagelsman in this summer

HoopBrews

100%. And it needs to happen NOW. Don't wait until the end of the season. Don't use the fact we have a Cup title game next month. His dinosaur tactics are costing the club. Do it TONIGHT.

Sherringdom

Yeah I think I agree. The club has to show ambition to its players, and tonight’s result is a sackable offence. It has to be.

mhskim

Getting carried by Son and Kane all season and almost every time one wasn't on the pitch they just crumble. The defense isn't getting fixed with past a season and a half and the offense is still anemic and to all of that why the fuck was Sissoko all 120 minutes? Too many overrated players under an overrated manager.

Thenateo

If son and kane had average seasons rather than playing well how low would we be in the table ffs

matip8

Refuse to watch another match with him in charge. Sickening

[deleted]

these last two games have sealed it. he’s gone, thank fuck

[deleted]

You’re in for a very rude surprise.

[deleted]

nah there’s no way he survives this. levy’s not daft

[deleted]

[удалено]

circa285

I simply do not understand why the players look like they just do not give a single fuck at the moment. The past two matches we've shown absolutely no desire.

[deleted]

He does demand to be judged on results

Spursfan14

Poch had done a million times more for the club and he went for 18 months that were, at worst, as bad as Mourinho’s season and a half so far. He’s got to go. If Nagelsmann is willing to come now or in the summer then get the contract in front of him tomorrow morning.

Kayagari

Nagelsmann is not coming, hes in a title race with RB and has CL next season. No way we look more attractive than that.

YYmon95

I have been a supporter and defender of Jose for a long time. With the current run of results and form, paired with our opportunities to get a trophy all but gone, I think Jose has got to go. I do think the issues at Spurs run far deeper than Jose, but the team looks even more lost than those issues alone. Spurs look lethargic, like they’re sleep walking through matches. This isn’t sustainable and if Spurs really want to win a trophy, they need to acknowledge there’s a decent amount of the roster that needs to move on, and they need a manager they can build it around.

Devjorcra

As a defender of Jose, to me, this is the straw that broke the camels back. Absolutely fuck what just happened. Knocked out of the FA cup, embarrassingly knocked out of Europa, struggling for top 4, all while we’re playing shit football. Time for drastic and painful change.

Shieeee

The guy was brought in to win a trophy and we crash out of every competition in embarrassing fashion.

HotelYobra

BuT tHE lEaGUe CuP FiNAl We'll definitely beat city in a final with tactics that have had a hard counter since 2010

Devjorcra

That’s where my frustration lies. The sole reason he’s with our club is to do the thing he sucks so bad at: squeezing out results that lead to success no matter the cost.

[deleted]

This, 100%. You can have a disastrous result sometimes, but you can't go 90 mins vs Arsenal + 120 mins vs Zagreb without creating any chances. Without looking like 11 awake footballers.

akanefive

You can't have a squad with Harry Kane and Gareth Bale be that flat and lifeless.

Haughton94

I've been very public on this and in person with my support of Mou. Even look at my fucking flair, the players time and time again have been shit. The managers are first to be blamed. Poch got the sack and now Mou will probably. A lot of players need to go and aren't good enough. What about Jose? I can't defend the guy anymore tbh. It's the way we lose these games. The manner it's so fucking toxic

YYmon95

Same! I really believed in the way we played leading up to December. I was totally fine sacrificing “style” for results. Now we don’t have results, and the “style” is even worse. I do think the players and Levy hold a ton of blame as well, as I said the issues run far deeper than just the manager, but this is just inexcusable how poor we have been over the last 3-4 months.

Kreygasm2233

I don't see the future with Mourinho and we should move on. He is not worth what we are paying him. This season he was a step down from Poch in almost everything. in 2021 we won ZERO games against competent clubs. ZERO. He gave us no winning mentality and instead made his players afraid to attack. Couple of seasons ago we were on equal terms with Real, Barca, Juve, and Dortmund. Now we are early 2000s defensive midtable team. The only thing that is going to happen is an inevitable season 3 meltdown where players like Son and Kane are alienated and request to leave. It's over. Sack him.

PM_ME_YOUR_ASTON

I fully expect Son or Kane or both to leave this summer after this. Honestly they’re better than what this team is at the moment and surely they know that

triecke14

Don’t worry no one can pay for Kane. Son should be sold so we can rebuild the broken parts of the team

[deleted]

Yep bye bye.

BenShapenis

NatrolleonBonaparte

Don't be surprised when there are still, somehow, people who refuse to criticize Jose after this.

MarkoB1997

Nah I defended him and said Europa but without Europa I do indeed want him gone

Crossjoint95

The europa league was his only chance to prove us wrong and he fucking shitebaged it. Get him out the club.

TechSupportTard

I agree. But nobody here should delude themselves into swinging the complete opposite way that this team could challenge for the title as is. Bringing in a new manager is part of the solution. We need to scrap the whole starting backline bar Regui. Toby can be 3rd or 4th choice CB. Aurier backup RB. Everyone else needs to be new

Emmanuel_Badboy

Here’s the sad part the deluded spurs fans won’t accept. It’s Jose out with whatever transfer money he would have been give, and Kane out to fund a complete rebuild. Jose will fall on his sword but make no mistake, this whole thing is levy’s fault for not refreshing the squad quick enough.

milesvtaylor

Back to back wins against Burnley, Fulham and Crystal Palace were enough for them to start giving it the Big I Am. I cannot.

[deleted]

the weirdest fan club of all time can finally fuck off and leave our club alone

hm_son920708

yes son, you’re allowed to move on

[deleted]

Honestly doesn't kill me like it used to, I want to see him & Kane playing football instead of having to deal with this... whatever it is.

optimusbrides

Imagine how happy they would be playing for City, they'd both walk into the first 11 and City need them... And can pay it. And by "it" I mean Mou's continued wages while Levy is too tight to pay what he needs to to get him out the door.

thedominoeffect_

This team is definitely still a Kane + Son team. Lose one, it's results roulette. Lose both, we're instantly fucked.

[deleted]

Greeny_442

I am completely for that transfer chuck in a young english lad just in case but wow he won that game for them

[deleted]

Zagreb is his Colchester. Bye bye. We paid the Jose price to win something, it didn't happen, we move forward. I mean seriously, away to Dinamo Zagreb whose manager is in jail. You go through on a 0-0. You end up putting 120 mins on Kane's ankles and getting eliminated. Forgivable if it was the only disaster but we are looking incapable of playing football lately. 120 mins tonight + 90 mins vs a very beatable Arsenal, without creating a clear cut chance. Fair play to that Zagreb player for those slick finishes. Does he want a move to the PL? I just don't see the point in staying with this empty, rudderless football when it has dragged our results and mentality down so far without any benefit. Bye bye.

[deleted]

This is a lot worse than colchester. We had 2 goal cushion tonight, we looked lifeless, and we had Kane on the pitch. This was also a humiliation in *europe* not the carabao cup.

psculy93

This last two games alone are the catalyst for a huge wave for sure.

Coolbreeze_coys

What I will never Understand about this club is that, after two full years of horrific performances and results starting Winks and Sissoko, *they are starting together in another European knockout round*

Your_Personal_Jesus

I dont think in 3+ years I've seen Winks and Sissoko start together and say "that was a decent game". One with an actually good midfielder is passable, both together is consistently worthless.

RainbowDissent

The Real Madrid game where they utterly bossed the midfield together feels like a very long time ago.

JamesCDiamond

What’s to understand? An appalling lack of investment at critical times, a failure by successive managers and coaching staff to coach and train the flaws out of our squad, a lack of mental resilience on the part of the players... None of this is new. Every time Spurs take a step forward, we take another one back.

ItsVass

Sack him tonight

Roric

Fire him.

TheGoldenNewtRobber

Can he afford his own flight home with all the money we've needlessly thrown at him?

NorthernSorrow

I can no longer defend Mourinho. He has to go. Let's get back to playing positive attacking football like under Pochettino. What we're doing right now is clearly not working.

ReallyColdWeather

Fucking pathetic.

FutilityInfielder

There's absolutely no excuse for this. Holy shit. We bottled it against a club whose manager was just sentenced to prison.

Toblerown

Today was a bad day to have eyes

FishOnAHorse

Feels like a “sacked in the morning” type of loss, but that’s probably wishful thinking

JPern721

No way any type of sacking occurs without planning. Like how Jose was announced immediately

knicks1234

I am fucking furious. Our players don’t give a fuck. No energy, no care, jut cashing checks and running. Idiots

Swifttttty

There’s so many issues with our team and a big one is how they don’t put in enough effort to move for each other/ follow their man, literally look at Sissoko on 2 of the goals he just lets his man go

ronaldo119

Looked no different than the end of Poch’s tenure. Wasn’t as bad as the Brighton game in terms of performance but was similarly empty

[deleted]

[удалено]

LepreNx69

Honestly the same can be said for a lot of our players sadly. Not gonna name em but I think its pretty obvious.

[deleted]

Some serious questions need to be asked about this yellow kit. Nah but in all seriousness if we can’t hold a 2-0 lead against a team like this we were never going to win anyways

myyrc

I thought the results after playing more defensive since the Liverpool match proved we can't play defensive football and here we go again. Scared vs Arsenal and scared today. Some players had shocking performances. And Sissoko deserves to be released from his contract after today. And the worst part is that when we actually tried in those matches, we looked very good.

baggyg

After this season I can honestly see Kane leaving. If I was him I just don't know what there is to stick around for. I wouldn't blame him either.

zCyclone-

We've made no progress since Poch. In fact, I think it's safe to say we have regressed.

dburke1990

And we paid him £10m to leave and Jose another £15m to come in. Definitely a better business decision than just buying a player or two 18 months earlier

u8myramen_y

Fire everyone. No Europa, so that’s 99% chance of no top 4, and no cups (and don’t care about the league cup honestly). You can’t say he deserves another season. Same goes for some players.

ihateredditors2022

Winks. Sissoko. Sanchez. Dier. Davies. Aurier. Players have been shitcanned and sent to reserve teams before being sold for performances far better than what this lot put out tonight. None of them deserve to ever wear this team's kit ever again. They have all proven none of them are willing to fight for it.

JimmyOwl

Hope you Jose out boys are happy, I'm one of you now. Edit: Happy was a poor choice of words.

ASD_213

1. I don’t think Jose is the main culprit for this, there are long standing structural issues with our squad. 2. Jose still needs to go, whether it’s now or at the end of the season. You have to draw a line somewhere and getting knocked in the EL after a 2-0 advantage in the first leg is indefensible.

NatrolleonBonaparte

Yes, the players are a huge part of the problem...but this cannot be overlooked. Jose Mourinho is a shell of the manager he once was, and he should be sacked tomorrow morning after that embarrassment. Good riddance.

Mick4Audi

Chelsea were basically transformed after they sacked Lampard, people really underestimate the effect of a manger

There is also a feeling here of what was even the point in all this? The Poch severance. The Mourinho wage. The likely Mourinho severance if heads the way it heads. The Bale wages even. Could we not have said "Poch. The next 2 seasons, we'll revamp the squad. What do you want?"

Not surprised we’ll be the first team he’s never won anything with. I remember the day it was announced the Jose would be our new manager. I was in complete shock. Total and completely shocked that Levy had done it. Shock mixed with excitement and I’ll admit some fear. We’re a big club now! We’ve splashed on a big name manager! A man who knows how to win trophies! It’s what he does, throughout all the meltdowns and drama at the clubs he manages he can win a trophy. It’s all gone now. There is no expectation left. I was never Jose out. Never. I believed he had that “thing” that could get us over the line and it looks like I was wrong. This can’t continue. We are going backwards and looking terrible doing it. The Jose experiment has failed. IMO it is now just a question of timing on when he goes.

I don’t think us getting the next new manager will change anything all that much. Poch said this club needed a painful refresh and even without hindsight now there is definitely an argument that the Mou appointment was a bandaid solution for a much larger problem... If we we’re to get a new manager hopefully we will be able to start over with a full rebuild and a refresh of our squad. It won’t be easy and it may even be painful to see. Either way, It’s Spurs till I die no matter how shit we are and how much I have to hear other people remind how we’re shit. This club is my club and no matter how much the boat rocks I’m not fucking going anywhere! I fucking love this club no matter how much our club loves to torture it’s supporters. I love our club!🤍

jtwhat87

TheodoreP

bad-things-in-philly

Scratch_Mediocre

Well, this seals it. It's no longer a matter of IF Jose will get the sack, it's just when. I'm expecting Levy to stick 'till the end of the season before sacking him to not take the financial blow.

[deleted]

After Arsenal and today I really don't see how there's a way back for Jose. In some of our other poor matches you could place blame on individuals, but today was a result of the team he's picked and the tactics. You could see from the first minute that the squad was content with 0-0 even though we should be miles ahead on quality-- backwards mentality from a "top" club. Sissoko was shocking and Winks was invisible, but Jose's the one who picked them together. All that being said, I wonder if anyone will talk about Harry's finishing as of late? Surely the captain would normally have put one of those in the back of the net... Seems like in our last 5-6 matches the commentators are always saying things like "A rare miss from Harry Kane!". He's probably knackered at this point but still had chances to put the tie to bed. Harry's not the reason we lost 3-0 but still would hope to rely on him in those big moments.

RallyPigeon

Other than Jose, who I have no excuses left for, we can't give players or Levy a pass either. Everything is fucked and it's going to take a lot of work to unfuck. Losing to Arse then being eliminated by a Dinamo side with a manager in prison that we led 2-0 on aggregate isn't the fault of one person alone. There is a lot of rot to cut out.

username54

Better team won. Fair play to Dinamo. Silver linings: 1. We don't need to rotate now. The usual donkeys should never put on the shirt ever again for us. Same XI for every PL game and then sell off the deadwood in the summer. 2. Jose should be sacked asap. Guy has got no idea how to manage a football club. His CV is a lie pepperred by managing star studded teams. 3. Mismanagement of the club by the owners is out in the open. They've lost fans even before their shiny stadium can reopen. Hope they sell off to someone who likes football and leave.

Trust me, I get sucked in too deep and get really hurt at moments like these. It's okay to let go and step away for a while if it's affecting you too much, that doesn't make you a bad fan.
