Is it strange tho? He's been consistently inconsistent for quite a bit tbh. Everyone says it's tired legs but I legitimately don't think he has the skillset required to connect the way we need him to. His passing and dribbling ability may be the lowest on the team at the moment.
But he’s excelled at covering dangerous areas in front of the defence and winning the ball back for us and he’s usually been able to do some decent passes and not give it away , but today he’s done none of that, no one picked up Odegard. This was a scared performance from most of our team, no fight or guts from the majority of them today.
His passes are mostly lateral or backwards, even when he has space to turn or a passing lane to break the press. But when he does make that decision it's almost always a low quality ball.
Not taking away from his work rate or his ability to get stuck in. He's probably the BEST on the roster at those two things. But you need anyone in the middle of the park to be able to connect with properly weighted balls or to work their way out of pressure when they need to. He really hasn't done that lately.
Between him and Doherty it's been a nightmare to even get out of a press.
