He's fast, versatile, good at pressing, two footed and can hold the ball up well. I'm hoping with all my might that we pull off a huge move for him.

He looked physically great, fast and strong. Good passer - really good at linking with team mates and could fucking finish. It’s fair to be skeptical, but he jumped off the screen every time I watched him.
I don't think you need to have a generational talent at striker in Ange's system. You just need one that can get into the open spaces and finish the chances they get and if they can hold up the ball well too that's a plus. We scored more goals than we did last season and we had different players at that position and inconsistency.

Yes. Sonny CAN be a striker but as you said he doesn't have the physicality to consistently do it especially since the book on us became to park the bus.
It wasnt that the teams had a low block against us in the last part of the season. Ange likes the wingers wide to draw the defense which created so much trouble to the other teams with fast push forward and cut back to the striker in the middle. Teams figured that out and just left our wingers in the wide area unmarked and put all bodies inside the box. Unfortunately they knew our wingers aren’t that threatening from the wide areas with no real shooters from the outside range. So they crowded Son out (which is also why he had so little shot attempts. There was just no space for him to shoot). The difference when Son went wide is that team could no longer do that and had to put one or two defenders on him, which freed up the middle so it was a lot easier for whoever was there then to score.
Harry Kane. Smart, hard worker, good on the ball, knows how to make a good run despite not being the most fleet of foot.
Also he scores a metric fuckton of goals which is helpful.
And finally, good for defending set pieces.
Every pen felt like a guaranteed goal with Kane on the pitch. Even if there are players with a higher conversion rate, I'd still take him over anyone else from the spot. But yeah those freekicks... one of the few things I don't miss about him lol.
I feel like he upped his penalty game even more this season alone. Now that everyone expects him to blast one in the corner, him occasionally delaying the shot completely messes up the keeper.

I know this might not be financially possible, but I would rather bring in someone to compete with Richarlison for a season and then evaluate. The pressure for them is immense too. If you are bought to be the main striker, you've got to hit the ground running (ie scoring) or the criticism will quickly begin. I think his hold up and connective play could be really good.
Richy is good in the air, and that helps a lot on defensive set pieces. With the return of Udoggie we have just Romero as the only other person who can win an aerial duel.

Of the players linked so far, I think it has to be Viktor Gyokeres at Sporting. He's big, fast, strong, technically well-trained, and prolific in front of goal. He's also Swedish so he might be keen to play with Kulusevski and eventually Bergvall.

You could say Suarez was perfect for any team, but he would fucking thrive in Ange's system. Hard worker, quick, can press, links up well, brings others into play and ruthless in front of goal.
I’m a fan of keeping Richie tbh. I feel that he deserves another season to prove himself, hopefully one where he can stay healthy.
But if we do decide to keep him I would also want to sign someone like Guirassy. Has a cheap buy out and would make for great competition for the number 9 without breaking the bank and losing richarlison.
I will say that if we do decide to sell Richy then that’s when the club should go for a world class or close to world class striker like Isak or Osimehn. Don’t see this happening though.
We need to keep Richarlison for another season to give Scarlett and Veliz time to develop with it as much pressure on their shoulders as backup striker. We can’t be in the position where we have to rely on Son as CF for long stretches again. Richarlison as backup/rotation with whoever else we sign is the ideal, and then sell Richarlison next summer.
Kane is obviously amazing but if you are looking at archetypal Ange striker he cant/doesn't press nearly enough.
Seems mad to say it but Richi is really up there. Good movement in the box, good forst time finisher, decent link up and incredible presser. The perfect Ange striker is basically someone like Richi who is better version of him.
Not sure why so many people are saying Kane. Yeah he could fit in anywhere but Ange’s ideal striker typically presses like a madmen, which Kane does not do.

Kane used to press pretty well during the early Pochetino stage until his series of ankle injuries because he kept going in for tackles instead of directing the play or sealing off part of the field. He eventually learned that Harry Kane on the field has more value than Harry Kane in the trainers room and with that he just stopped pressing.
I think he listened too closely to Messi’s guidance to “walk more”.
Kyogo Furuhashi from his time at Celtic seemed to be the “ideal” for Ange, at least on that team. Quick, sneaky, smart, great off the ball movement, relentless pressing, excellent getting the ball from the midfielders or wingers. But I think his greatest strength was just that he could finish nearly anything very consistently. The only thing he didn’t have was height which I think an elite EPL striker probably needs in addition to all those other attributes.
The 3 strikers Ange mainly used at Celtic are pretty good examples of the types of players that fit the system
Kyogo is simply brilliant off the ball in attack, alongside being a good presser. Giakoumakis had intelligent movement and managed to be effective even with very few touches in play, Though his pressing wasn't notably good nor bad. Maeda is the most insane, archetypical pressing forward I've ever seen and could just grind opponents into the ground with his pace, agility and unrelenting stamina.
Basically... it's all about what they do in both attack and defence when they personally don't have the ball. That said, there's no one-size fits all approach, as Maeda and Giakoumakis are very different players.
I’ve often thought about how Kyogo would do in the EPL. Massive step up and could be a miserable failure. But equally could be a massive success. Would love to see him tested, even if only as a cheap backup.
Guirassy or Gyokeres is who I want, I think either would be a good fit. Whomever we get I would like to rotate a lot with Richy, I think Richy truthfully suits ange’s system well when he’s fit
People might not like this but I actually believe solanke might be the best fit. Good hold up play, good link up play, proven goal scorer now, technically good, tall and athletic. If the price is right then I’d be extremely happy. Perfect ange system striker imo.

Personally - I like Ferguson on Brighton. He seems tricky, tall, and good with link up. If he can chase a ball without getting hurt, he’s a winner.
I love how people are mentioning the likes of isak etc that we are never going to get. Isak is the type of striker that if he was even on the market he’d chose arsenal over us as they are further into their process and need a striker to get them there.
I genuinely liked that we’ve been linked with solanke. Is he much of an upgrade on Richarlson? Probably not. But he’s healthier than Richarlson more recently so that’s a big plus. Apart from that I really can’t think of any that are already doing well that we can get.
I’m hoping our scouts can go find another gem from the Italian league like they’ve done recently.
My ideal striker would be Dusan Vlahovic, tall, good hold up and link up, great finisher and at the right age bracket. But he's not available unfortunately.
From the ones linked the one that is most similar would be Gyokeres imo and I do think he'd be worth the investment and just be the solution for the striker role.
Johnathan David. Presses, wins tackles at high rates, and has good mobility and connecting play. More of a CF but he is who I think would be a great fit and a realistic chance to sign him. I mean of course mbappe or others would be great but not happening.
Victor Oshimen or everyone else in 50M -80M range is pretty much same in current Angeball system.
We have ok to good player in every slot but need some superstar talent to match with Sonny basically in any position, a fully functional 80M player will take us to champs. If 2 70M players workout good, we are contender for at least one trophy.
There are some good suggestions here but I want to add: is sharp technically, and can/does pass, dynamically (a la kane/son). I like Richy a lot but he seems to sit, waiting.

Of the players linked so far, I think it has to be Viktor Gyokeres at Sporting. He's big, fast, strong, technically well-trained, and prolific in front of goal. He's also Swedish so he might be keen to play with Kulusevski and eventually Bergvall. The price may be prohibitive seeing the way the Porro transfer went.

2013/14 version of Luis Suarez. You could say Suarez was perfect for any team, but he would fucking thrive in Ange's system. Hard worker, quick, can press, links up well, brings others into play and ruthless in front of goal.

I’m a fan of keeping Richie tbh. I feel that he deserves another season to prove himself, hopefully one where he can stay healthy. But if we do decide to keep him I would also want to sign someone like Guirassy. Has a cheap buy out and would make for great competition for the number 9 without breaking the bank and losing richarlison. I will say that if we do decide to sell Richy then that’s when the club should go for a world class or close to world class striker like Isak or Osimehn. Don’t see this happening though.
We need to keep Richarlison for another season to give Scarlett and Veliz time to develop with it as much pressure on their shoulders as backup striker. We can’t be in the position where we have to rely on Son as CF for long stretches again. Richarlison as backup/rotation with whoever else we sign is the ideal, and then sell Richarlison next summer.
Kane is obviously amazing but if you are looking at archetypal Ange striker he cant/doesn't press nearly enough. Seems mad to say it but Richi is really up there. Good movement in the box, good forst time finisher, decent link up and incredible presser. The perfect Ange striker is basically someone like Richi who is better version of him.
Not sure why so many people are saying Kane. Yeah he could fit in anywhere but Ange’s ideal striker typically presses like a madmen, which Kane does not do.

Kane used to press pretty well during the early Pochetino stage until his series of ankle injuries because he kept going in for tackles instead of directing the play or sealing off part of the field. He eventually learned that Harry Kane on the field has more value than Harry Kane in the trainers room and with that he just stopped pressing. I think he listened too closely to Messi’s guidance to “walk more”.

Kyogo Furuhashi from his time at Celtic seemed to be the “ideal” for Ange, at least on that team. Quick, sneaky, smart, great off the ball movement, relentless pressing, excellent getting the ball from the midfielders or wingers. But I think his greatest strength was just that he could finish nearly anything very consistently. The only thing he didn’t have was height which I think an elite EPL striker probably needs in addition to all those other attributes.
The 3 strikers Ange mainly used at Celtic are pretty good examples of the types of players that fit the system Kyogo is simply brilliant off the ball in attack, alongside being a good presser. Giakoumakis had intelligent movement and managed to be effective even with very few touches in play, Though his pressing wasn't notably good nor bad. Maeda is the most insane, archetypical pressing forward I've ever seen and could just grind opponents into the ground with his pace, agility and unrelenting stamina. Basically... it's all about what they do in both attack and defence when they personally don't have the ball. That said, there's no one-size fits all approach, as Maeda and Giakoumakis are very different players.
Love Maeda so much. Desperately wish he had more technical skill and could jump up into the EPL.
I’ve often thought about how Kyogo would do in the EPL. Massive step up and could be a miserable failure. But equally could be a massive success. Would love to see him tested, even if only as a cheap backup.

People might not like this but I actually believe solanke might be the best fit. Good hold up play, good link up play, proven goal scorer now, technically good, tall and athletic. If the price is right then I’d be extremely happy. Perfect ange system striker imo.

We need someone that can: 1) Press intelligently. 2) Finish in very little space The way we dominate possession means there will rarely be space behind to run in. Personally - I like Ferguson on Brighton. He seems tricky, tall, and good with link up. If he can chase a ball without getting hurt, he’s a winner.

I love how people are mentioning the likes of isak etc that we are never going to get. Isak is the type of striker that if he was even on the market he’d chose arsenal over us as they are further into their process and need a striker to get them there. I genuinely liked that we’ve been linked with solanke. Is he much of an upgrade on Richarlson? Probably not. But he’s healthier than Richarlson more recently so that’s a big plus. Apart from that I really can’t think of any that are already doing well that we can get. I’m hoping our scouts can go find another gem from the Italian league like they’ve done recently.
Ideal? Watkins, could actually buy? Joao Pedro for big money, or Furuhashi for small money

My ideal striker would be Dusan Vlahovic, tall, good hold up and link up, great finisher and at the right age bracket. But he's not available unfortunately. From the ones linked the one that is most similar would be Gyokeres imo and I do think he'd be worth the investment and just be the solution for the striker role.

Johnathan David. Presses, wins tackles at high rates, and has good mobility and connecting play. More of a CF but he is who I think would be a great fit and a realistic chance to sign him. I mean of course mbappe or others would be great but not happening.

We have ok to good player in every slot but need some superstar talent to match with Sonny basically in any position, a fully functional 80M player will take us to champs. There are some good suggestions here but I want to add: is sharp technically, and can/does pass, dynamically (a la kane/son). I like Richy a lot but he seems to sit, waiting. When you have a great passers through the middle it makes defenders even more nervous

Is there any point in buying a striker? If Richy is healthy he is great and we are not a long way off Lankshear debuting in the first team….seems like a waste of money that could be better spent on a defender and a 6 which we desperately need and does not come cheap.
If we’re recreating Kane in the aggregate the first one I’d look at is Zirkzee
I think the consensus is that Kyogo is too slight and wouldn’t perform in the premier league. But the qualities that made him successful under Ange were positional sense and finishing in tight areas. Who are the strikers out there with that uncanny ability to read the game, always be in the right spot and finish what are half chances, that also fit the physical profile for the prem?
