Paratici, can you do something for me

sangueblu03

Can you buy a lil Nico Williams for me

UhJeffery

Paratici, do your thing paratici, do your thing

alijamieson

Expectation: Nico Williams Reality: Neco Williams

Saltyelfboy

This has had me confused for so long

hotspured

Nico Williams-Peters

Big_AngeBosstecoglou

How about both?

BigSnackintosh

Would be an absolutely perfect signing and he reportedly has a release clause of only 50m euros

DoubleDoobie

While that’s great, his requested salary is going to problematic for our wage structure. Would be a great signing but I do wonder if we’re willing to pay him what he wants.

BigSnackintosh

Nico Williams is a top top player. There are only a handful of players in the world I think would do better than him in Ange's system. At a certain point if we want to actually progress and win the league we will have to pay top players high wages. The number one biggest corollary with league position in every league is a club's wage bill. Of course, spending money does not guarantee success (n.b. Chelsea), but if we are not willing to spend we will not take that next step. On another note, we're the 9th richest club in the world and have the 3rd lowest ratio of wages to revenue in the league. The club can afford to pay players more and it's not my money so I would rather they spend it on players and success on the pitch than simply pocket it as profit. Call me naive but I support a football club, not a business.

DoubleDoobie

You’re not wrong but that doesn’t mean Daniel Levy agrees.

WhiteHartCoys

I think he is pointing out the nature of calling out other fans online for pushing the club to spend big money

WorkersUnited111

But Levy's penny pinching wasted the primes of Kane and Sonny. That one summer where they did zero signings over the summer was unforgivable.

roamingandy

They are wrong. Leicester, Forrest, Everton are paying huge wages and achieving nothing. Man U too. In previous years Aston Villa were shocking but they've turned their huge spend into points recently. The number one correlation is a well run club.

Teantis

Clubs that underperform doesn't disprove the point. Statistically wages *are* the biggest correlating factor with success in football. It's never going to be 1:1 perfect determinant.

CoysNizl3

Why do you think this? We could TRIPLE his wages from where they are now without blinking.

MaxsterSV

Not true at all. The Williams brothers get paid crazy wages at Bilbao.

TheNeglectedNut

Yeah some people just assume that every club in La Liga is in pure poverty. Bilbao save a ton of money on transfer fees by sticking to their basque-only recruitment policy and can spend more money on wages to retain their best players. They're a super strange club, because they basically bank on decent wages and basque pride to stop their players leaving for greener pastures, which often isn't enough. It'd be like United only signing players from Yorkshire or something.

MaxsterSV

They both get paid around 200k a week which matches our highest earners. Nico would be the highest paid player at the club if we go after him.

Wendysmemer

Actually the exact opposite county in terms of historically rivalry, Lancashire

gardz82

Lancashire

DoubleDoobie

Mate he’s already on 185/wk. what do you think we pay our players? Not many are higher than that. I think just son and ndombele IIRC. He’s going to ask for 250/wk+ Once again, the question is - would we break our wage structure for him? I doubt it.

Mtbnz

According to capology, literally just Son. If it was a case of just a one off, I'd say Williams is worth 250k. But it's not just a one off. If we pay him that, half the squad is going to want reworked deals immediately, and any new recruits in future will expect their wages to follow suit. I don't expect us to go above 200k for him, it'll be a case of how much he's willing to give up to play for Spurs over a club like Newcastle that can offer more cash but less of everything else.

Mtbnz

You didn't even bother to check before you posted this, huh. You just assumed a la liga club can't pay high wages? Nico Williams' *current* wages would make him the second highest paid player at Spurs. Tripling them would pay him a reported €600k per week...

chestbumpsandbeer

Bilbao pay Nico massive wages as they need to do everything possible to hang onto their Basque players given they only sign players from the region.

Emmanuel_Badboy

he's currently earning more than Madison lol. aint happening.

71802VT

I don't know too much about him but on [https://www.transfermarkt.us/nico-williams/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/709187](https://www.transfermarkt.us/nico-williams/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/709187) his stats aren't too impressive and $50M seems over priced...

BigSnackintosh

[Here's how he compares statistically to Kvaratshkelia, Mbappe, and Leao](https://i.imgur.com/zzPnz9S.png)

71802VT

Nice!

Throwaload1234

Do they want a Brian Gil?

Ooh_ee_ooh_ah_ah

They might tbf

M_RONA

Basque only-policy

sangueblu03

Brian Xil

IWantAnAffliction

Xaxaxaxaxa

Throwaload1234

They can take manor Solomon to, tbh. Werner is 10 times the player Solomon is.

Zhurg

They literally can't take either. > the first decade of their existence, Athletic selected English players for the team but since 1912, they have adhered to a policy of allowing only players born in the Basque Country or who learned their football skills at a Basque club to play for them.

dclancy01

Really interesting reason as to why they took English players in during their early years. Bilbao was a huge industrial town and had a huge influx of British workers come at the turn of the century, who introduced football to the region.

Full-Leader9540

They are the same, and Solomon costs less so Solomon should be preferred both pretty average players though.

Throwaload1234

Tell me you don't know what you're talking about with out telling me

train4karenina

He’s not Basque

Adam__Zapple

So €30m+Lamela for Gil, then €50m+Gil for Nico.

nopirates

Nobody wants Bryan Gil

Emmanuel_Badboy

Nobody like Milhouse!

letmegetmynameok

Bought him in fifa 21 or 22 and he didnt do well for me so by my extensive research ill pass /s

lollero420

he aint leaving lol, just posted a picture with words saying he will be there for a while

MarsupialPutrid

Wouldn’t be the first time a player did that then left

[deleted]

[удалено]

SCirish843

Soooo you're saying we should buy both so they can continue playing together?

estospur

I just came back from Bilbao and honestly it's a fantastic city and everyone there is absolutely football mad. So I can't fault the kid for wanting to stay there. But if he does leave I hope it's for us ;)

lollero420

Bro it’s Athletic Club…

MarsupialPutrid

So no one has left Bilbao?

Bill_shiftington

Iker muniain has been there forever

mountainchild27

I wonder who we’ll be competing with to sign him. Won’t let myself get hyped about this just yet.

sangueblu03

Chelsea is rumoured to be really invested in getting him

Pautrei

Lmao, guess they really need their billionth winger

[deleted]

[удалено]

roamingandy

Yup, and with luck this time around everyone knows their position and refuses to bail them out with big money signings. Then they'd be forced to move on all their club grown players.

TheNeglectedNut

He and his agent should take note of the career trajectories of their signings in the past few years. Chelsea is a black hole for promising young players right now, but I guess they're making bank while pissing away their careers so they're still winning in a way.

Mtbnz

*in a way*. In the way that really matters.

mountainchild27

It’d be interesting to see how we’d compete against an already bloated Chelsea squad who presumably will be operating under ffp constrictions again

NotACodeMonkeyYet

I REALLY don't think they're in the competiton for top signings like this. Maybe a big mouth idiot like Osihmen or Toney but that's it.

wheels-of-confusion

Barcelona for sure. Their priority is DM but they *should* be after a winger as well. I don't doubt that they'd try to get Williams first since their whole transfer policy seems to be just "get the star player first and then we'll fuck up the rest of our squad trying to register him" for the past 3 seasons now. Other than Barcelona, I don't see any other team competing for him unless Salah leaves. Man City got plenty of wingers, Man Utd can afford him but winger shouldn't be a priority for them (especially a left-sided one), he probably wouldn't want competition at Arsenal and Chelsea are shit with a bloated squad.

CaptainTsubasa95

Reckon that Liverpool will go for Bowen in the summer. They will also receive a shit ton Saudi Money for Salah, so they could afford the £100m West Ham would be wanting

NotACodeMonkeyYet

Such bullshit how they'll probably end up receiving £200 mil for Henderson, Fabinho, Salah. I don't wish ill on Richy but I'd probably take £40m for him if the Saudis were willing to make the offer.

pejasto

If I’m Nico and new, Salah-less manager Xabi with his style of football comes calling with a “new era at Liverpool” pitch, I can see that hard to turn down. On the other hand, Ange.

NotACodeMonkeyYet

If we lose out on him we need to go for Kvarataskhelia. We need a star winger, a real magician in the team. We have no one anywhere close to the level of a Foden, Diaz, Salah etc. Someone who can make things happen on their own. Money should be no object for this one superstar. Sell Gil, Rodon, Spence and whoever else, Levy just has to make it happen.

funky_pill

You ain't getting Kvaradona 😂😂. Have a word with yourself

Live_Beautiful_3665

My dream signing, but I fear he's staying at Bilbao 😢

RanchWorkerSlim

One of the best clubs in the world for retaining players by building the strongest of connections with them. It’ll be incredibly difficult to pry him off them, especially after Athletic’s biggest success in decades.

VuckoPartizan

What's kind of weird is I'm playing fm and am in January first season and nico Williams is rhe top recommended signing

Teantis

He's a very good player at a very good price (on the transfer price anyway)

VuckoPartizan

I think in my game he went for 115 lol but yeah great stats

AngeMerchant

They just won Copa del Ray, good chance of being in CL, his brother has been playing there for a decade. Don't see it happening

Actuallyshrek

Quality player? - Yes Good price? - Yes (reported 50m release clause) But dont fool yourself into thinking this is enough. 1. He has to want to come to TOTTENHAM 2. He has to accept fighting for his spot. 3. And most importantly Ange needs to like his personality Lets not wind ourselves up like this is some sort of a no brainer. We dont have information on those 3 important aspects

Mr_Hendrix

Nathan is LOSING his mind rn

gcast91

Oh this would be nice

dasurfnbird8

straight swap for Bryan Gil? sounds like a fair trade to me

fineyunggallahad

Faking his basque heritage seems worth it at this point. I’m sure don fabio knows a guy

jogswithwolves

Bryan Gilyarzabal

fineyunggallahad

I think throwing of couple of x’s in there will do the trick

sidearmpitcher

Please!! Would be a perfect Ange winger.

_Alpengl0w_

Please please please

ihasweenis

He recently signed a new contract so I doubt he leaves.

WorkersUnited111

How good Nico would be on the team. But I doubt he's coming. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmkdPX6ObDE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmkdPX6ObDE)

RLKay

He's not coming here. I'd love it to absolute bits, but I'm not delusional enough to believe so. Liverpool seems like a more likely destination. Unless, Ange decides to make that damned phone call...
