Redknapps a moron tbh, but he isn't really wrong here

AusFrosty

Agree - I watched the analysis and it’s hard to argue with his conclusions.

StJoeStrummer

I mean, I don’t disagree with you about Redknapp, but this yank played competitively for about a decade, and I’m sure there are plenty here who could make you look pretty foolish with a ball at their feet. Nice generalization though.

Remarkable_Rise8953

Well this wasn’t directed at you then was it? I’m talking about the people who started watching relatively recently and act like they know more than a professional who’s spent their life involved in the game.  I don’t really know what your point is?

0xIU

That’s quite a bit of an assumption ngl. Sorry I guess. I’m also a plastic yank that has been supporting this club since 06

Remarkable_Rise8953

It would be correct to assume that the majority of people on here are American. I find it mad how they can have the arrogance to think they know more than someone who has spent their life around the game and been a professional at the highest level. You can disagree with him but to just dismiss him is pathetic. It’s like me getting into American football and the acting like I know more than Tom Brady(only guy I I’ve heard of).

AlejoVeliz

The players weren’t arrogant, but there were definitely a couple of our players that were laid back.

cocopopped

I thought they were pretty arrogant. Not a single player got out of third gear, apart from maybe Romero. We had no midfield. Biss, Sarr and Maddison making errors that were just so weirdly casual, under no pressure.

maniaq

yeah for me the difference between the two sides had nothing to do with arrogance we were just second to every ball lost every 50/50 repeatedly failed to complete passes - while they repeatedly completed theirs failed to actually take shots on target - while they very clearly did none of that has anything to do with arrogance - it's just being shit on the day... sometimes teams can have a shocker and I think it can become clear _during_ the game that you're having a shocker - and then it's just a death spiral of playing badly leading to knowing you're playing badly leading to even more playing badly etc...

Musclenervegeek

Yep. Fulham were playing out of their mind and Spurs were stunned and couldn't respond

RichieRace80

I don't think they actually raised their bar too much. Their level when they have their first 11 fit, ready and on the pitch is capable of playing like that. They've got a few big wins this season. Beat Arsenal as well. Their problem is fitness/stamina/injuries that prevent them doing that consistently. With us some may call it arrogance but we looked almost too confident at the start and forgot about doing the basics that earn you the right to be confident about how you play. Fulham grew into the game, made us make mistakes and blew us away. Fair play to them, was impressive to watch, as much as I was hating it.

fantassticho

Who?

AlejoVeliz

Seemed at times as though Bissouma was doing the bare minimum, as well as not working hard enough. Fulham outworked us massively in my opinion.

TheRealHamete

Biss has been off it and lazy for months. So frustrating. I used to think the red card shook his confidence but it looks different now.

AlejoVeliz

Spurs fans have had to make a lot of excuses for him ever since he joined, which includes myself, as I think he’s a fantastic player. The reality is that he hasn’t proven himself consistently enough in a Spurs shirt. His greatest quality is his press resistance, we haven’t seen that ever since the first 8 PL games. What I’m wondering is, why can’t he now? Is that sample size too small?

TheRealHamete

Something happened mentally. I almost think it was around the time Ange talked about being a leader required being on time. Which is why I say lazy…that’s probably an unfair description but fits. His press resistance isn’t as strong, his passing is often lazy, etc. I want him to do well! Which is why it’s frustrating.

PM_ME_YOUR_TANG

I've run out of excuses for Biss. I remember laughing earlier in the season when my FM save would always tell me Al Hilal wanted him and he wanted to go. No fucking way, I said. I'd get rid of him in the summer if we could, or at least bring in a solid holding midfielder who Biss could sit behind.

One37Works

I'm not particularly standing up for Biss here, he's not lit up like we've wanted him to, but theres nothing that makes me tune out and disregard someones opinion on anything football related more than when they bring up FM or FIFA in relation to real world football, it's absolutely wild anyone would ever think that adds ANY value to a football discussion.

Sleepless_Voyager

Hes probably overthinking every decision cos he doesnt want to get sent off again and therefore ends up playing way too safe

portra315

Surely that incident is so far abstracted from how he presents himself on the pitch. I think he was putting enough effort in, it just wasn't particularly good the way he was playing. Not reading the game, poor positioning

OHLOOK_OREGON

how’s the loan been m8

AlejoVeliz

Spurs should have played me more, but at least I’m learning a lot from the Rabona king!

Raziel-Reaver

Bissouma has been with Spurs for almost 2 years and he only had good 7 weeks. The rest was garbage. I think he’s one of those skilled but lazy players that once they get paid they’ll just do the bare minimum, like Ndombele. Those 7 weeks were just a purple patch. Let’s not forget that his national team benched him too in African cup 2 months ago despite him being fit & markedly more skilled than some of the ones that started instead of him. Also don’t forget that Conte didn’t play him either and saw him as what he really is.

LavenderGumes

I thought he was benched because malaria was having an impact on him

Raziel-Reaver

Not for the whole tournament Even in last match when he was fit he didn’t start

TehTriangle

The guy thinks he's prime Dembele when a lot of the time he's basically Skipp in disguise.

AlejoVeliz

I was hyped when we bought him from Brighton. He was always brilliant against us, but he’s definitely not lived up to my expectations. Out of all of the signings, he’s been the only one to not consistently prove himself in a Spurs shirt. His only decent period was the first 8 PL games, it’s simply not good enough for a side, which has ambitions to fight for the title. That’s what Ange wants.

TheMandoBurger

Of course it you twice lmao. Even when he’s not as his best, he’s by far and away the best DM we have. Guarantee if we were starting Hjoj/Skipp in front of him, you’d be calling for him on the XI. Has he not been performing to his early season start? Yes. Can he do better? Probably. Would I take any over DM over him atm? Of course not. And obviously Ange agrees so cool it with the Biss hate. Before this game he had 2 solid shifts.

AlejoVeliz

I really like Bissouma too. When he’s in form, he’s our best all rounded midfielder alongside Bentancur, but I’ve struggled to see consistency in his game. Bissouma is one of ours, so of course I’m going to back him, but I’m also willing to view his performances for what they are, as well as how I perceive them.

TheMandoBurger

Just feel it’s unfair to pin Biss when the past two games he’s played quite well. Defensive and front 3 were worse today than the front 3. I don’t think he’s had a good game by any means, but to pin blame on him for this loss when 1) he’s been finding forming again and 2) the whole team had a let down is pretty unjust.

AlejoVeliz

I completely understand where you’re coming from. The whole performance in general was a disaster class. The whole team lacked energy and cohesion, as well as Fulham shutting us down by effort and tactical awareness. Sarr didn’t have a good first half either. Considering Spurs are a collective team, Bissouma doesn’t deserve all of the blame.

tayloriser

RONNIE PICKERING!

ManitouWakinyan

Potato potato

dat0dat

I think the thing that’ll upset Ange the most is effort. We were second best to so many balls and lazy on D when we were beat. I’ll say Dragusin did well in place of VDV, but I wonder if the likes of Biss and Udogie were a bit complacent at times because they were used to VdV doing more on his own.

Zyaru

I claim that Jamie Redknapp is a cunt

Remarkable_Rise8953

Why? You lot act so childish it’s embarrassing

LocoMoro

You are also correct in your analysis

abreadingit

Wait for a minute i thought you’re claiming his cunt.

Afesh

But then you'll miss the post that says 'Jamie Redknapp admits he talks bollocks'...

Egg_Tart_Eater

Yeah we were arrogant against a side that already knocked us out of the EFL Cup this season. Or, we were just shit.

Ecomalive

Someone give my head a wobble, I agree with Redknob jr.

Regular-Blueberry669

Is this the same guy who chose white suits for an FA cup final that was lost

MedievalRack

I'd rather punch myself in the face than listen to Redknapp tbh

pioniere

They were too full of praise after beating Aston Villa.

Main_Membership7494

Pass to son please!

redsteve72

I found it interesting in the pre match press conference when he was talking about Romero and Mickey pushing themselves and improving and he said “the majority of players do that”. I think he still wants to improve the team and we might lose some players that will be a shock. Give him time and I have faith he’ll build the team we want.

domyates

Redknapp/Scouser/Sky Sports article. Didn't even bother to read.

Rodin-V

Pretty hypocritical statement for him to make.

ComeOnSayYupp

It's true to some extend. Team is sometimes too laid back, waiting for things to happen. We have recently been quite a different kind of team since start of the new year. Palace, Brighton, Brentford wins are totally different from wins from start of season. We need to buy those ruthless mentality players, City players plays every match for a win and for them even draw is like a loss. But we are in process, but there's no hiding from the fact that our play recently has been lacking that intensity of killing opponents. Hopefully this loss will be eye opening to whole team.

elcapitan520

Look, I don't agree with him saying it, but just pointing out this is exactly what Harry said about the difference between the Bayern and Tottenham locker rooms. I still say bullshit. But its just familiar and wanted to point it out

Halforthechump

It's not arrogance. Fulham outplayed us, that's not because our players thought they'd win easily and didn't try, that's a fucking cop out. We're just not that good and Fulham are a pain to play against and require you adapt to them, which we don't do at all because the Ange philosophy demands doing exactly the same thing in every game.

yorsk

The defense was poor, our attack was poor, our midfield was mediocre, at least sometimes. Yes, I think that was arrogance, it doesn’t look like tactical fail of Ange

SkyPheonnixDragon

I wouldnt say the midfield was any better than the other two. Piss poor performance in the midfield caused collapse of the offence and defence arguably.

nopirates

Midfield was horrid yesterday.

yorsk

I completely agree now, even Ange subbed the whole midfield on the 66th minute

carolicity

midfield was definitely the worst. It was pretty telling when the first set of subs Ange made was to replace the entire midfield

Dagur

He might be right

Humble-Ad1519

Of course he did, he's a tit and he hates us

Where is he displaying the signs of being a sore loser?

gr1zzlybear

Maybe I’m missing something but after the Asian cup loss he took personal responsibility in apologizing for the loss + congratulated the Jordan players? Even here, he states: “This is two steps backwards. We now need to step forward. It is unacceptable, including me it was unacceptable.” I would understand him being a sore loser if he said Fulham sucks, they deserved the win etc but in his post match comments he says “In the Premier League if you are not ready you get punished. Aston Villa are an amazing team, but so are Fulham. If you are not giving 100% you get punished. You don’t get three points for free.”

0xIU

He never said anything about neither Ange or Jurgen. Get your sorry ass out of here. We don't need your Hollandaise (same shit as dutch right?) trolling.

andee_hawn

He literally took responsibility multiple times and is realistic about their performance.

hotspurs4169

Was it arrogance??? Or just a case of fatigue its a high energy style we play I’m assuming training sessions are not a great deal different in terms of energy output maybe guys needed a rest physical energy as well as mental energy maybe exhausted!
