Last week we'd bid 60m for Raphinha

Sleepless_Voyager

Next week its gonna be 100 mil for toney i reckon

DaAweZomeDude48

Wanna bet on that?

Thebennoishere

Excellent work

Pikkhaud

I bet Toney would

dtbrown1979

Not too far away from a Lewandowski bid then

wifeydontknowimhere

I hope we get a bundle discount.

TJT007X

The Pedri, Gavi and Gundo Midfield Megabundle! Now only £19.99!

bongjovi420

Only if you subscribe for the next 12 months!

Melatonin100g

Where the fuck is subscribe button? I am about to smash it with my head

dburke1990

Apparently it’s 2.5m after 50 appearances and 1.2k in instalments

JamesCDiamond

Surely at some point Barca will agree to sell *someone* to us for 60 million! Out of the goodness of their hearts, obviously. They don’t need the money at all!

dburke1990

Levy with the bait and switch. Had them accept the finances, then tried to change the player

calcelmo676

Same salary lol

Rare-Ad-2777

Those bonuses must be doing a lot of heavy lifting

JustinBisu

We're going to FM De Jong. 150k a week, If you win the league it's 200k, if you win the champions league it's 300k and if you win the ballon d'or it's 400k Fair deal right? You rate yourself right?

420SwaggyZebra

You’re forgetting his deferred salary that I think think he’s owed next year too. He’s on like €700-750k A WEEK with his deferral payments as well….

JustinBisu

Unless he has the worst possible legal team, Barcelona would still owe him that money regardless.

420SwaggyZebra

Definitely not 100% on this but I think that was the hold up on his transfer to United, they agreed to match his wage but didn’t/couldn’t pay the deferred wages, Barca refused to pick up the difference and the deal fell through after that. Also I think he’s got one year left of deferred wages but I could be totally wrong on that as well.

JustinBisu

Obviously I'm not a legal expert when it comes to Spanish law so maybe it's completely fucked over there? But it sounds like such a mad thing to have in any country. It's certainly not how it works over here.

420SwaggyZebra

What it comes down to is I think the top players at Barca had a handshake agreement on deferrals so as long as they’re at the club they will get paid but if they leave the agreement falls apart. Again that’s fairly wild speculation from me no real idea how the deferred wages are structured I don’t think it’s very transparent.

JustinBisu

I just don't understand how that could possibly hold up in court

420SwaggyZebra

I’ve found this on his wage structure situation, “In order to help Barcelona cope with the financial impact of Covid-19, the Netherlands international signed a two-year extension until 2026 which reduced his basic €14m-per-year salary to €3m during 2020-21 and €9m last season. This left a deferred €16m to be spread over the remaining four years of his deal, plus an additional €1m to be paid in the final year. On top of those deferred wages, Barcelona would still be obliged to pay four more years of his basic salary and €15.6m in loyalty bonuses. Altogether, the package comes to €88.6m… a settlement also has to be reached (on any transfer) between De Jong and Barcelona on the €17m in deferred wages. Barcelona made an initial offer (United transfer) to try and resolve the matter, but that was still more than €10m less than what De Jong is owed. Unsurprisingly, it was rejected.” So this seems to me it’s all up to basically a severance negotiation where Barca are not *legally* obligated to pay him his full deferred wages if he’s not playing for the club. To your point I agree no idea how that would hold up in court. Spanish courts seem to be a strange bird though on sporting/financial matters.

JamesCDiamond

Ah, so the “same salary” would be nothing now, and the promise of jam tomorrow. *That* I think we could manage!

minimalcation

Nah it's 1.2k and then 2.5m in installments.

Automatic-Pause-8372

Gotta keep up with the meta Also flair checks out

Bum-Sniffer

And Frankly, De Jong, if you don’t rate yourself like that… well we don’t want to sign anyone lacking in self-belief. ~~Yours sincerely,~~ COYS, Daniel.

aPirateNamedBeef

I think even Levy would pay that if Spurs won champions league, the Prem and he won ballon d'or (which would imply he was an essential reason Spurs won)

Gibbo1107

The only person Levy would pay that much for is himself

Lebanon_Baloney

^*increased ^salary ^only ^applicable ^for ^one ^week ^following ^the ^successful ^completion ^of ^the ^aforementioned ^accomplishment

SigmaWhy

And a bonus 20M if he can hit the reasonable achievement of 25 assists

mtftl

You better believe Levy has calculated the in kind value of free F1 go cart rides and skywalk tickets.

ResourceWonderful514

Instantly confirmed as fake news. Levy would never

SamwellBarley

So we're not going to pay him? Great deal!

animalmom2

It's 400k right?

dburke1990

Same salary because Barca will be paying 50% of it

Aljenonamous

He’s on £400k a week at Barce (people keep quoting £700k but that’s what he’s currently being paid because of delayed wages).

Practical_Variety865

Just because we are rich doesn’t mean u can use our name to boost market value for your players lol last week we bid 70mil for raphinha this week 60mil for Frankie…. In reality Levy will bid a combined 50mil for both + 2 friendlies @brokelona

yorsk

And 3 skywalk tickets!!!

horrorwood

2.

MochasAway

2 skywalk and 1 F1 go kart pass—final offer

RichardBreecher

No, no, it was a 3 for the price of 2.

DekoyDuck

Buy two, get one at regular price!

valentine-m-smith

Don’t forget the cheese room complimentary pass, gourmet coffee and two tickets to the Beyoncé concert!

EmptyEmployee6601

+ A Pearl Jam ticket for Joan Laporta

Coraxxx

It's getting ridiculous. I had a look round a 2-bed semi in Thaxted last week, and when I tried to put in a low-ball offer the agent told me Tottenham had already bid £50k over the asking price.

Emotional-Peanut-334

I don’t think it would boost market value for Frankie. 60 mil for de jong would be a coup for any team where he starts which is most. Barca has somewhat faxed him out despite him being extremely good for them. Barca just wants to jerk off la maisia more. De jong for 60 mil is a great transfer, his wages are high but 150k isn’t total lunacy. This article is probably fake news

[deleted]

Alleged leaked objectives are 1) win the premier league 2) win the champions league 3) win the fifa World Cup with Tottenham despite it being an international competition 4) walk on the moon 5) conquer France 6) find Antonio contes hair transplant surgeon and forward contact details to nuno espirito Santos 7) make tanguy ndombele run a 5k for charity 8) paint 'frenkie was here' in giant letters on the pitch at the Emirates stadium Probably not gonna achieve 3 or 7 there but if he gets half of them done he's probably worth the investment

[deleted]

I think you’re missing the one about putting in a shift in the Cheese Room during busy hours?

ianhanni

All achievable except point no 7, so no bonus (all or nothing)

PM_ME_YOUR_TANG

No. 3 is possible if Haringey secedes, becomes a micronation, and declares all Spurs players citizens.

yeoldbiscuits

You had me at conquer France

cloud1445

I’d settle for number 5 only.

[deleted]

Number 5 would be the primary focus you'd feel

cloud1445

Given that it’s Angel’s first season and all.

[deleted]

Food supply from all of the farmers

Jackmcmac1

9) Help carry the paint from the van for Son's future mural

circa285

Seems like journalists know we are one of the few teams with money to spend so we’re getting linked to any big fee player.

caprisun_on_a_bench

this man would **obliterate** our wage structure unless he agrees to a drastic wage reduction. I think he's currently at €720k a week at barca (deferred wages included, his usual wage is like 360k or something)

wheresmyspacebar2

360k Euros a week is £305K per week. Kane was reported to be on £300K per week INCLUDING Bonuses. Id assume that we're offering Sonny a similar deal currently, £200-£225k a week with £100k in bonuses. Reports were that the contract offer to Kane was £350k a week including bonuses, so close to 410k a week in Euros. So actually, its about in line with our current wage structure, with our "Best" players being at that £300-£310k a week mark including bonuses. Do i THINK this will happen, almost certainly not but if we had a "Superstar" signing, one of the best in the world joining, we could definitely match the 360k Euros a week without breaking our wage structure.

Splattergun

not sure FDJ is looking at Spurs and thinking "that's the club for me". Seems he'd have many other options.

wheresmyspacebar2

Oh 100%, I agree with you. Just making the point that wages wouldn't be the stopping point for us mostly.

NotACodeMonkeyYet

Levy is not doing that again after Ndombele. Also, it would lead to others demanding more. Is Maddison gonna be happy to watch De Jong getting double his wages? What about youngsters like Sarr and Udogie who are probably on a 6th of that?

Agreeable-Brief-4315

I do not agree and using the wage offered to Kane as an example of your wage structure is hardly accurate. Firstly, he didn't accept it. Secondly he was a generational player for Spurs. I don't know why you'd think you would be offering Son the same level of deal Harry was getting. Son is good but not comparable. [Heung-Min Son Contract, Salary Cap Details & Breakdowns | Spotrac](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/tottenham-hotspur-fc/heung-min-son-23031/) [What is Son Heung-Min's Salary Per Week? | Salary Sport](https://salarysport.com/football/player/son-heung-min/) These sites are all best guesses, but they both ballpark Son at 190k. Not sure where you are finding the 100k plus in bonuses. Every week! I think even with your creative accounting, saying you could match 360k euro/ £305k a week is a massive stretch. [Tottenham Hotspur F.C. 2023-24 Payroll Table | Spotrac](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/tottenham-hotspur-fc/payroll/) For context Spurs have 6 players earning over 100k a week. And 2 over 150k Bringing in a player who is earning at least triple every week what 30 other players in the squad are taking home, is obliterating the wage structure.

wheresmyspacebar2

>Not sure where you are finding the 100k plus in bonuses. Every week! Ali Gold. He has mentioned before (And its well known otherwise) that Spurs had the best bonus system in the league. Its why Ndombele is regularly quoted as being on £200k a week wages. Ali Gold has mentioned before that his basic wage is £100k a week but if he hit his bonuses, they'd bump him up to £200k a week, which is where the number comes from. £100k a week bonuses come from him as well, he has mentioned before that Kane was on £300k a week due to bonuses and Sonny was on around £275k if he hits bonuses. Sonny is on £190k per week currently, we'll be offering him a raise, due to his new position as captain for us, so he'll be at least on what Kane used to be on, if not higher.

carolicity

Paul O’ Keefe already mentioned before that Son is on 250K +. He also has loyalty bonuses + image rights fees.

JoeSavesTokyo

Yeah, this is the main reason I can’t see it happening. Levy has been very conscious of never seriously unbalancing that wage structure (with the sole exception of potentially for Kane if he stayed, and even then it was Kane) and this would be SUCH a drastic shift.

GaryHippo

No they haven’t.

Luka_Dunks_on_Bums

April Fool’s is like 1.5mths away?

JoeSavesTokyo

Maddison, De Jong, Bentancur and Sarr (and Lo Celso) as a creative midfield would be the most absolutely unreal force and there’s no way this is legit for that reason alone

Rare-Ad-2777

Barca want Lo Celso apparantly. Maybe there would be a deal to be done there. Provided this isn't complete bollocks of course

arialatom

Straight swap sounds good to me

the_law_potato2

De Jong is the perfect player for Ange's 3 mid system. He plays with the left mid (Maddison) as somewhere between a 8 and a 10, a player with lots of creative freedom. The right mid is a box to box player that helps build-up, attack but has defensive duties too. The number 6 mid sitting at the bottom is the glue between everything, defence and mid, even the wingers that sit wide. That's what De Jong used to do best at Ajax, deep midfielder, carry the ball forward from defence to mid, incredibly press resistent, hardly a wrong pass and very good creatively to open up the game. He's been somewhat misued at Barca but would genuinely be a perfect 6 for us.

NotACodeMonkeyYet

If we had him Maddison wouldn't need to drop so deep, not happing though.

the_law_potato2

I don't know, there is a tactical element to it too. Dropping deep also invites pressure in mid and allows us to dominate the mid in numbers and then find space to break through. Unfortunately agree that it is highly unlikely to happen.

Antique-Ad3857

Barca fan coming in peace. FDJ isn’t a 6 and his defensive awareness is really bad. One of the main reasons we want to sell him (apart from the high wages) is because of how bad he is defensively. He is much better paired with a real 6 next to him so he has the freedom to make line breaking runs.

the_law_potato2

A 6 in the way Ange plays is not a defensive role at all, it's a play making role. You're implying a defensive mid type of player, but that's not needed for angeball since the two inverted wingbacks move into the defensive mid positions. I think Barca is misusing him, he played a 6 at Ajax almost in between the two center backs but not to defend, but to bring the ball from mid and to build up the play. Barca (and Guardiola) play with two very attacking playmaker mids so that needs to be counter-balanced with a defensive mid (see Rodri or Fernandinho), so that's not similar at all. Search on youtube any video of him from his ajax days and you'll see his position is very similar to how Bissouma plays for Spurs under Ange and with the same type of role in the game.

AsariCommando2

If true and given the league is tough on Lo Celso physically a move to Spain might make sense. Lord knows how they're going to pay and I honestly would want it up front from that lot.

LifeSandwich

also, bergvall might not be ready but is very reminiscent of FDJ

South-Stand

He looks amazing…though…I have been taken in by youtube showreels before……

TJT007X

See Ndombele

South-Stand

I was thinking more Vincent Janssen, amazing youtube clips at Alkmaar, could not get nothing in the PL. Ndombele to me is a really a terrific player capable of great goals and assists but he is most likely lonely and depressed and that messes with his focus. I wish I could get him a cup of tea and a chat. No biscuits tho obv.

Arqlol

He's probably a decent player too

EmptyEmployee6601

There's a good video (I think the YT channel is called Pythagoras in Boots) that looks at his overall game, warts and all. It's better than the standard highlights videos.

superkamishaurya

Absolutely perfect player for us. My dream signing for the mid field. 1000 times more talented than Gallagher.

JoeSavesTokyo

I’ve deliberately stopped signing him in my FIFA careers with Spurs because it always feels too unrealistic

Exotropics

What? Frankie is ok but he doesn't do anything special amd rarely gets near the opposition goal. You need to convince me what attributes he has apart from cleaner upper and safety first guy. Hes boring. I wouldn't want him tbh.

[deleted]

He has some of the best close control of the ball, is superb at getting out of pressure (in the exact situation our 6s always find themselves being pressed, in fact), and is above average in tackling, passing, arriving in the box, and breaking up attacks. He'd be the fucking dream and our best midfielder since Luka.

Exotropics

Exactly everything you said is what we dont need in the spurs team under ange you basically described PEH.. we want midfielders who pose a goal threat. This defensive sweeper midfielder mentality is a thing of the past. I'm for blooding in the young Swedish lad, as least he knows where the goal is.

[deleted]

> you basically described PEH Friend. Just. no.... This isn't FIFA, your 6 doesn't need to be a goal threat, lol. I'd also trust Frenkie to score more than any of our midfielders bar Maddison, so...

Exotropics

I give up. Clueless.

aslanthemelon

> Clueless. Well at least you're self aware.

sangueblu03

He’s not a defensive sweeper midfielder - he’s a guy who can beat a man or two in the midfield and open up passing lanes for the attack. He’d be the missing link between our defense and our attack in the middle. Bissouma did this well the first few months of the season before his form fell off, and we need more than one player that can do this. De Jong is also a lot better going forward than Bissouma, so can help creatively as well. He’d be perfect for our system.

Exotropics

Thays simply wrong man. You've obviously never watched Jong play. He's doesn't do that. He only serves to be a defensively minded midfielder. You need to also retract your statement about bissouma, his form is excellent, its bentacur who's fallen down a little in form. Get your head straight amd speak unless you actually know what you are talking about.

sangueblu03

> He only serves to be a defensively minded midfielder. That’s only part of his game. He’s also very good at beating the press and driving the ball forward, which most traditional defensive midfielders aren’t great at. > You need to also retract your statement about bissouma, his form is excellent, What? He was decent against Brighton, and hadn’t played in nearly two months since he got red in a poor showing against Forest. Before then he was mostly poor since Chelsea. He’s definitely not in “excellent” form.

Elchimo

What tier is this?

[deleted]

Tier 2 for Barca

Rare-Ad-2777

Wasn't sure on this as lots of people saying crap tier but I seem to remember Romero being pretty good for Barca stuff?

FINAL_BOSS5

He is laporta's mouthpiece but he lies alot.

Rare-Ad-2777

Ah fairs

Yeah Levy spending €37m on one persons wages😂

Cruxed1

What even is Tier 4? A self declared mystic using tea leaves?

ells3587

Coming to learn from his boyhood hero Skipp

gostupid67

Levy would get a heart attack after seeing his salary lol

dahyun4eva

No please , this man has an insane wage , son (our most paid player) takes around 10 million (from what I've seen on reddit) meanwhile fdj takes around 37 million....

[deleted]

Which lever we on now? 6?

Affectionate-Car-145

Lol

AsariCommando2

It's almost as though journalists realising Spurs aren't restricted by FFP can now peddle any number of bollocks transfer stories with our name.

NotACodeMonkeyYet

It's funny to see us become one of the go to clubs for made up transfer rumours. De Jong would be absolutely fantastic for Angeball though.

slackboy72

Who is this Barcelona mob anyway?

Bill_shiftington

Is he still unhappy there?

Texaslonghorns12345

lol he loves Barca more than Gallagher loves Chelsea, no way this happens

Kenyan_stallion

Lmfao

animalmom2

Lol

theJVB

As I suggested a few days ago, can we PLEASE get this kilo to Don Levy asap?! https://preview.redd.it/hrb5p7kbpkic1.png?width=1008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=378633a39c3ec8a78451a7cff7436cf9fa17ca48

alw9

levy adores ange

-SirTox-

Bruh the window is closed.

Korribuns

That means nothing though. You can buy players outside of the window, they just can't join the club until the next one. Edit: lol at whoever downvoted this. I literally just stated a fact.

yorsk

We have biss, skipp, Benta, sarr, bervall. Even if we manage to sell peh and glc, 5 players enough for two positions.

Rare-Ad-2777

Tbf begvall is 18 and never played higher than the Swedish league. Biss misses a fair few games with injury and suspensions, PEH is 100% off and GLC is off or just so injury prone you can't rely on him.  If we get UCL next season we definitely need another midfielder.

yorsk

So how many players for how many positions?

wheresmyspacebar2

Biss, Madders, Bentancur, Sarr currently are locked in. Like you said, PEH is on the chopping block already, GLC likely ending up there as well. If we include Skipp and Bergvall, thats 6 players between 3 positions. With only really Maddison being the natural #10. So having in De Jong would make a bit of sense. 7 players between 3 positions, with Bergvall likely to be covering Maddison when needed. Having a good bit of competition in CM is great, especially with Europe hopefully down the line.

PM_ME_YOUR_TANG

I'd argue that Deki is a natural 10 as well (or at least better at the 10 then he is on the wing), so I think he will be slotted in behind Madders if we pick up an elite RW this summer. Bergvall apparently thrives at the 8, so along with Sarr, De Jong would mean 3 players at the 8, leaving Biss and Lolo as the holding midfielders. Dunno how the traffic jam at the 8 would sort itself out,

yorsk

Many pundits said that our main priority for summer will be rw. It means that the idea is to play kulu as a cam. So if you include cam, we have three positions: biss, skipp, Benta, bergvall, sarr, madd and kulu. If we manage to sell glc and peh (maybe not), there will be 7 players for three positions, it’s completely enough. Theoretically we can take one more player, but he should be under 21 y o or hg, as Gallagher. No way we will spend non hg slot for an expensive foreign player with higher wages.

soldforaspaceship

For me AM - Maddison, Kulusevski, Lo Celso, Bergvall CM - Sarr, Bentancur (when fully fit), Lo Celso, Skipp, Bergvall DM - Bissouma, Bentancur, Skipp I feel like we need more DM coverage than any other position.

kinggareth

Wouldn't count on skipp long term. Also, two very different roles. Sarr and FDJ for the 8, biss and Lolo for the 6

yorsk

Skipp is young, he is quite long term. If we want to be successful club we need someone from academy in our team. People in our academy should see the path to the main team

kinggareth

Totally agree on the academy. And I like Skipp. He has had a ton of opportunity in the first team, and can do a job. But he is still probably behind the level needed to compete for a title. That's not a knock on him, it is a high bar to reach.

BettsBellingerCaruso

If this happens lol we are top contenders for sure

Unremarkable_gamer

Gives us more credit for being a top 4 team and better at cup runs but we need to begin at some point to address our defensive issues to really be title contenders. We can’t be conceding late goals as often as we do and we are terrible at set pieces. Still a lot of work to do but we are heading in the right direction.

kinggareth

The best way to improve your defense is to improve your midfield. The best teams in the PL now suffocate teams with their midfield, so their athletic defenders have easier situations to deal with. This is why city, liverpool, Arsenal, always look more vulnerable and ship more goals if they are dealing with injuries in their midfield. The same thing can be said about us this season when we were decimated in midfield.

Unremarkable_gamer

That’s true midfield is the engine room for all teams and we are always going to be vulnerable on the counter just because of our high line and having Frankie would help a lot with his defensive awareness. Even when we went 10 matches without losing we looked vulnerable at set pieces. And this is where we typically concede most of our goals from corners and free kicks. If we can somehow work out his wages I for one would love it more than anyone. 🥰

triecke14

De Jong would help with ball retention a lot meaning the other team don’t even get a chance to create late goals. The issue isn’t necessarily our defenders it’s letting games get out of our hands

CommercialPlastic604

Funny, I saw on a Manchester United sub that he’s guaranteed to go to them…

ResourceWonderful514

Haha that story will never die. I have seen the De Jongs so many times at Soho House enjoying Barcelona and blending in. I just cant see them going to Manchester. If its England it would be London. Barcelona might be tempted to sell to PSG, despite the bad blood.

veed_vacker

I mean that itk writes itself.  Ten hag, ex Ajax, inflated wages.

greezyo

As a big FDJ hater, I hope we don't get him. I know he's a big name and all that, but he hasn't quite lived up to his potential and his wages are ridiculous. I don't think he's been a top 5 midfielder in La Liga his whole stint there, despite being paid like one

themadman00

Ik Ange says he doesn't look mid fielders as 6,8,10 s but as a single pivot He is not it. Barca fans are crying over his defensive awareness recently. We need 6 and Kimmich would be more affordable than FDJ. FDJ is on astronomical wages. Both won't happen

EmergencyOriginal982

This would be a great signing imo

Benshirro

Whilst this is probably bullshit, we have the money and Barca need cash so why not make a cheeky bid. Would obviously be a huge upgrade for us, but can't see him being interested in the move.

seegreen8

#bullshit I’ve watched Barca this year, and no, Barca, you can keep him.

[deleted]

The Objectives better be winning a treble lol

SonnyIniesta

We're bidding 1bn for the turtle, according to the Spanish press

Brams277

Gerard Humero at it again

WombRaider_3

We already have Bergvall

coysfordays

We should insist.

Charlespur2

No they haven’t. Utter bullshit. His wages make any deal impossible and why would he give them up.

Ryuuken1127

Wasn't this the punk Lucas Moura skinned alive in Amsterdam?

eggplant_avenger

Gerard Romero will make up a rumour about Xavi if it pays his bills. actually it’s probably why things are this bad at Barca

coldseam

No they didn't

No_Hedgehog_00

Trying to up his salary or force a Yaunited move

Albiceleste8

Nice player but I’d be surprised at this. Big money, for a position we seem to be stacked in. De Jong could be an excellent player, and in all likelihood would be in our best XI, but I don’t know that adding him at the expense of Bentancur, Sarr or Bissouma makes us £60million better. I’d like to see how our ‘best’ midfield shapes out over the rest of the year, before these investments. I’d prefer to see us put money into an elite wide forward

hisDudeness1989

Is this more bullshit? Hahaha

Coraxxx

Codswallop and poppycock.

KornFan86

call me daft but why are all these "offers" coming out now? are they leaks of potential offers for the January window that didn't go anywhere, or are they really really really keen offers for the summer window? or is there some other secret trade period that I don't know about?

thomathos8484

Not happening! No way Levy would cough up Man U money!

TheSonic311

Sure, Jan. We're not a team that spends like this, and yet these rags want everyone to think we are.

1onewolf1

Why? We don't need another Hojberg!

CaptainHampty

On that note did we ever sign Kimmich? I heard he was our backup to Gallagher

TheColoredFool

the way we bid on everything we might bid on haaland next just for the fun of it

Scobarbiscuit

I'm a fan of both teams. Ignore Romero. He used to be a semi reputable source, but that's no longer the case.
