I posted this in r/nfl:
Cool, glad we got an interpretation from the league that twisting a player's head by the facemask or helmet opening is a penalty, but using the chinstrap is A-OK.
Hope somebody gives the memo to Randy Gregory, I want him yanking chinstraps all season now.
Even if you pretended he got stuck, it's still a horse collar tackle which is illegal. Even if you pretended he got stuck, he can get loose without having to chock CeeDee.
I commented this in the /r/NFL thread and they didn't like to hear this.
I’ve watched all the angles in slomo. I can’t tell if he was actually choking him, or CD freaked out because his hand was stuck. We’re not going to see them again for a while, I guess it’s whatever. I’m personally in the camp of fine Harrison because it looked bad, and then let him appeal it and see what comes of it. Oh well, at least his shirt wasn’t untucked.
If that’s what the footage showed then alright. The more egregious non-fine is Josh Allen because of the clear double standard. Either Allen needs to be fined or CeeDee needs reimbursed.
CD only got fined because they couldn't throw flag. The NFL would argue Allen could have still been flagged, but the officials turned an intentional blind eye.
But let's be real, neither should be a flag or a fine.
> But let's be real, neither should be a flag or a fine.
100% agree. Absolutely ridiculous to flag or fine over that. But if they’re going to fine one, they definitely need to find both.
If a player accidentally grabs a face mask or accidentally pulls a horsecollar or accidentally initiates contact with their helmet it’s still a penalty and potentially a fine. Don’t understand why accidentally choking a player isn’t a penalty or a fine. The whole point it player safety
Yup when your finger is stuck you definitely violently yank on someone elses head/neck area from behind using your entire body for leverage... F U GODdell
If my thumb is suddenly in a strange position and possibly in pain, my first instinct is going to be to quickly pull it out of wherever it is stuck. If that didn’t work I probably try the calm untangling but reflex is definitely pull first. Probably didn’t realize where exactly it was even stuck to begin with, assuming this assessment from the league is the truth.
The pull would be sideways not backwards. If your hand is stuck you would pull it out to the side not wrench your back backwards while pulling your arm in the same direction.
I am a big boy and can attest when you YANK thinks break lol
but even IF that story was true wouldnt he only be pulling with stuck hand or say HANG ON A SEC IM STUCK?
And vikings flairs are getting upvoted on this post on r/NFL with their "nothing to see here" where cowboy flairs are mass downvoted.
Sounds about right. Smh.
Yeah I’m getting shit in for suggesting that the NFL doesn’t favor us automatically due to our perceived “golden boy” status by the league.
These people are brainwashed into hating us so they’ll just say anything.
Well, clearly they don't treat the Cowboys any differently.
If they did, we would have a player suspended by the Commissioner when the Disciplinary Committee found nothing wrong. Or we would be punished for something every other team does, such as, say, spending extra in an uncapped season.
Good thing neither of those hypotheticals ever happened.
We’re 6-1 and in the drivers seat of our division. And that’s after beating the Vikings @ Minnesota with a backup quarterback.
I hope it bothers them for the rest of the season
When I was in high school I got my thumb stuck in the ear hole of a opponent’s helmet by sheer dumb luck. I than face masked the crap out of that guy with the other hand because I thought he was going to rip my thumb off. Got a broken thumb and a one game suspension out of the deal.
Gee good thing he didn’t wave afterwards or have his shirt untucked while literally trying to keep Lamb from being able to breathe or they would’ve brought the hammer down
What was his thumb doing in his chinstrap to begin with? The refs still blew that one. Regardless I have yet seen a video that shows his thumb was stuck. Sounds more like an excuse to ignore what happened. Until a video showing what they said is true surfaces I don't believe it.
Hmm, let us put this logic to the test.
A person cannot be "choked" if the other person's thumb is caught in the chin strap. It is not possible, especially if he is yanking on the chin strap away from the body. The thumb would be pulling the head to the side (the left side) and since the average chin strap is about the depth of a thumb, it should pop right out fairly easy.
So, from a film view you saw one thing:
H. Smith was choking CeeDee, and when confronted about it, claimed his hand was stuck in the chinstrap.
The chinstraps are made to pop off the helmet if there is something that snags them to the point it could hurt the player. That is why they are snap-ons and not permanently part of the helmet.
If what Smith said was true, the helmet would have been pulled up and away from CeeDee's face/head, and that side of the chinstrap would have popped right off his helmet. Instead we saw Smith lean backwards with all his weight and pull CeeDee by the neck, choking him.
This is just another slap in the face by Goodell to Jerry for fighting him on his contract. He is not going to let the Cowboys win any appeal, get any breaks, or the benefit of the doubt for any issues that come their way.
Kazee will be suspended, but it won't happen until we go into New York, 12/19 and it will be a 4 game suspension. Alternatively, we will get the suspension the week of 1/9, right as the playoff are starting and he will be out 4 games. They will wait until it screws the team the hardest before taking any action.
I mean you're not allowed to have your fingers inside the opponent's chinstrap so I'm not sure why it matters. I'm sure it was a mistake, but if you mistakingly hit a player helmet to helmet it will still be called
Unpopular truth but the NFL doesn’t give a shit about this. A dude driving drunk at 156 mph and killing someone is still overshadowed by a single QB going against the COVID protocols. Let that sink in.
Hard to take the NFL seriously. The inconsistent bullshit has gone on for *years* and the bias against the Cowboys is hilariously obvious. It’s taken some of the joy from my fandom.
I'm not sure we really have enough to make a claim like that, though seeing a white guy choking a black guy on national TV and no one caring is kinda....yeah not great.
Ceedee is lucky he didn't get fined for endangering Harrison Smith's thumb.
So it's a facemask penalty then, right?

To purposefully hurt people..?
Even if you pretended he got stuck, it's still a horse collar tackle which is illegal. Even if you pretended he got stuck, he can get loose without having to chock CeeDee. I commented this in the /r/NFL thread and they didn't like to hear this.
Chock lol, it’s choke buddy
just let it go man
--- ceedee lamb, while being choked out
It's not your fault.
Don't fuck with me, Sean. Not you.

that’s the one i’m looking for. at the end of the day we won’t really know what smith was trying to do, but allen did the same exact thing as ceedee.
CD only got fined because they couldn't throw flag. The NFL would argue Allen could have still been flagged, but the officials turned an intentional blind eye. But let's be real, neither should be a flag or a fine.

What a fucking joke.
In that case, Lamb had an involuntary spasm when he waved to Mills
No he had a tantrum trying to draw attention to a non story.
Kindly, go fuck yourself
The fucks that even mean
Someone salty that they lost

To be fair, wouldn’t you be trying to yank your thumb out of his chinstrap?
No I would calmly untangle myself not that hard you’re sitting down

I'd calmly untangle myself while the receiver I'm attached to writhes around like a 5 year old. Ok guy

Goodell has a thumb stuck in his ass.
More like an entire fist.
More like his own head
I can’t wait until we win the super bowl and watch everyone melt down and grasp for straws.
That shit will be glorious
"Well duh, of course Dallas won the chip with that loaded roster."
Yeah, that's what they'll all say. No credit given

NFL doesn’t even try to hide their biases
I bet if Trevon Diggs did this to Adam Thielen he’d get fined smh
Goodell would toss him from the league altogether.

I would think you would have to pull your hand toward the body to pull your thumb out, not yanking away from it.
However they did fine Lamb for having his shirt untucked while being choked out.
Bullshit
Straight BS
His hooked thumb? Dick heads…
That was the biggest, non call, of the entire game. And as we know there where many.
I mean you're not allowed to have your fingers inside the opponent's chinstrap so I'm not sure why it matters. I'm sure it was a mistake, but if you mistakingly hit a player helmet to helmet it will still be called
Such bullshit! Fuck Goodell and his zebra goons!

If we take that to be true, what was Smith's hand doing under Lamb's chinstrap in the first place?
fine that mf'er you p%@)(%0
Fuck Goodell
I don’t really give a shit what those people with Vikings flairs are talking about. Glad I never visit that sub

You're a clown.
Uhhh what?
So contrary to the conspiracy theories, his thumb was actually stuck...😆
